Chapter Text
Impulse drowned
Impulse was killed by a Guardian using magic
Impulse drowned
Impulse’s deaths are regular enough that you could set a clock to them. Zedaph actually considers doing just that, for a while, just to have some sense of his friend, and then decides not to, because it’s a bit too morbid. He works on his and Tango’s signal tower instead, trying to make it enticing enough for the other hermits to really want to come see it.

Impulse drowned
It’s monotonous after a while. He doesn’t know why he keeps checking chat when it’s just going to show the same thing.
All this is to say that when Impulse stops dying, Zedaph might be the first to notice.
Impulse drowned . And then nothing. One hour goes by. Two hours. Zedaph honestly considers panicking at this point, maybe he can check with Zedeath and make sure Impulse isn’t permadead? No, actually, he reasons, that can’t be the case, if Xisuma can’t make chat work and their spawn’s already screwed up, there’s no reason why someone would get randomly set in Hardcore mode. Impulse is probably just taking a break. Somehow. Two and a half hours.
Three hours. A new notification.
Impulse has reached the goal [I’m warden you one last time]
Zedaph rubs his eyes and checks the description text for the unfamiliar advancement -- challenge, actually, according to the text. He’s not sure if he should be elated or confused by it. Three words. Kill the Warden .
Good news. Impulse is out. Better news, he’s apparently stupid powerful. Zedaph could cry. He does shed a few tears of joy before noticing the advancement below it.
Impulse has made the advancement [Acquire hardware]
What.
He takes a second. Tries to figure out any possible work-around. Wardens can kill a player in full Netherite in two hits . Impulse just got the achievement for an iron ingot, meaning… well, okay, maybe he’d had iron armor? It wasn’t a lot, but it’d be something . Could’ve found a spare chest down in the ruins with some armor in it.
Zedaph checks the chat and finds death messages from Impulse (and the other hermits, some deaths and some advancements), and then scrolls down past the three hours of no chat messages from Impulse, and… there’s nothing there. No [Suit up] advancement. Heck, if he’s running on advancements, Impulse doesn’t even have a stone pickaxe yet.
It very much seems like Impulse has just killed a Warden with his bare hands.
