Dragonspine is such a cold place but yet a perfect place to lure anything who lost control to be far enough from the city because the mountain is quite far away from where people live. And that's what Lumine had tried to do. She lured Mondstadt's beloved alchemist who got corrupted away from the city to the cold of Dragonspine. It's tiring, she can't even lie that the injuries she suffered from him is bothering her so much right now. But she is far more worried about his wellbeing. Lumine is confident enough she could purify him again the way she purified Dvalin. But her hope had sunken now.
With the festering desire, the sword that Albedo had given to her long time ago now she had to point that sword at him. Her hand is shaking, the sword is dripping with his blood after several attempts to dodge his attack. She is now not so sure if she could purify him. His corruption state seems to be beyond repair but she still hope she could bring him back again.
"Albedo please..." Lumine begged softly as she took a damage done by him so she didn't have to slash her sword at him again. She got knocked out in the snow and trying to regain her balance again.
But it seems the corrupted Albedo couldn't hear her at all. Now it's up to Lumine wether she should keep dodging his attack or trying to kill him so he wouldn't do more damage. But Lumine is too tired to do more dodging. Until his claw is moving a few centimeters away to slice her throat, he suddenly stop. He probably had regained his consciousness now.
"Lu...mine.... Stop me, please." Now Albedo is the one begging. One of his purple eyes turned back to the normal teal he had. Lumine gasped in surprise.
"I can't, Albedo. I can't kill you at all! This is so unfair!" Lumine screamed at last. She is so frustrated. She didn't want to kill him yet the damage had done to him and by him is already beyond repair. He needed to be stopped right away.
"Lumine, you promised me. Please... I don't want to hurt you anymore and I can't control myself!" Albedo shouted. He is also in pain, both the pain of corruption and the pain of hurting her stirring inside him. He wanted to be stopped, he just want his peace once more.
"Albedo... I can't..." The traveler shook her head slowly. She is too weak to kill him. She loved him after all though everything remained unsaid.
"I— I'm going to lose myself again... Lumine, do it. I know you can because this is your last chance..." Albedo smiled weakly at her. His claws gently cupping her cheeks. If only he had his fingers right now he would erased the tears that fall from her cheeks. But he didn't want to hurt her with his claws.
"I'm sorry, Albedo... This is the best I can do..." Lumine said for the last time.
The female traveler moved forward to hug the corrupted alchemist. She hugged him so close to her while she hold her sword on her hand. Though her hands are shaking, she moved her sword close enough at his back and...
Stab!
The festering desire finally impaled him...
And her too. The sword is long enough to stab both of them at the same time. Lumine gasped softly at the stinging pain of the sword stabbing her. Albedo closed his eyes to feel the pain yet he realized something wrong happened. And when he opened his eyes, he could see that the sword stabbed both of them together.
"L-Lumine what are you?!" With the last energy he had, he tried to get away from her yet she kept the hug closer and closer.
"I'm sorry, Albedo. I can't do this at all and this is for the best." Lumine said weakly. She is running out of blood too, slowly and surely and she starting to lost her own consciousness.
"Lumine no... Lumine..." Albedo too had lost much blood yet what just happened is simply unacceptable. He then hold her cheeks again, checking of she could still be saved or not.
"I'm so sorry, Albedo. This is for the best. I can't kill you because I love you so much." Lumine smiled. Tears are leaking from her eyes again but at last she can tell him how she feels.
"Lumine... I.... I love you too... Don't die, please? Let me be the only one paying all this sins I made..." Albedo shook his head weakly.
"It's okay, Albedo. We will meet again in another end of this world, okay?" Lumine smiled again for the last time before she closed her eyes, feeling her last breath.
"Lumine... No..." Albedo cried before he slowly losing his consciousness too from how much blood he had lost.
"I think now I know the meaning of this world, master Rhinedottir, Lumine... This world means nothing without the love of your loved one..." Albedo whispered to himself at last before he finally took his last breath.
And together they are having their last hug with Albedo kissing Lumine's forehead gently before they lay on the cold snow of Dragonspine, body not moving at all, enjoying their very last breath in the coldness of Dragonspine.
