you sit and watch him in his element,
there are lights flickering across his face,
bright neons emitted from a screen,
soft sounds coming from a hidden speaker.
he knows you’re there
allowing you to quietly stare
to let you both recharge
in an unstated agreement.
ii. luke
you sit and watch him in his element,
there’s soft light reflected off the mirror,
palettes, highlighters, and blushes scattered across the vanity,
he’s daintily holding a brush, making his eyelids a brilliant pink.
you love to watch him do this
so focused where he otherwise is not.
you sit in quiet validation
an everflowing admission of love and support.

you sit and watch him in his element,
there’s sunlight flickering through the leaves
and dancing across his face.
he’s sitting on a stump and watching the trees
as the smoke leaves his lips
he’s allowing you to watch him
and just let you two be at peace,
one with nature,
letting it flow around you both.

you love them all
in their loud moments
and these quiet ones
that they allow you into.
