Work Text:
As Loid stops the last of his enemies from attacking Anya and Yor, he collapses drained, the gape at his side oozing profusely with his life’s blood.
Yor and Anya rush to him as soon as his head fell to the ground and gently Yor cradles his head. Anya grabbing his hand and squeezes it. The pain Loid was feeling was starting to slowly ebb away and he lazily looks to the two girls he would do anything for.
“I did it Yor, I kept Anya safe. N now I need you to keep her safe for me. I probably won’t be able to see Anya at her graduation" *cough cough*
“No-no papa, don’t say that, mama do something!” Anya blubbers through her snot and tears.
Yor none for worse cradles loids head even closer and looks around yelling for help.
Loid frowns, “now girls, don’t cry. Peace has been secured, life will be better for you. Now don’t cry, I don’t… don’t want to see you crying, *cough cough* let me see your beautiful smiles once more, please.”
Loid pleaded his last request as he coughed up even more blood. Both Yor and Anya look at each other in silent agreement and wipe their tears and share a wobbly grin at the man who put everything on the line just for them.
Loid sighs in relief and closes his eyes as if to bask in the sunlight of their smiles. “Thank you…”

The lapping of water woke up Loid. Blinking, he groans as he sits up. Gravels of sand slide off and Loid looks around confused.
Where was he? He sat upon the sand and blinked as the white fog began to fade and he could see the water he heard up ahead.
“Hello?” He called out, but no one responded back.
Slowly getting up he observed that there was not a soul on the lone beach, but himself. Puzzled, he followed the coastline to wherever.
The stretch of land seemed to go on forever, but the White Sea to his side brought a sense of calmness and peace that the former spy has not felt in a long time.
For how long he walked, he wasn’t sure, but he wasn’t tired, alas up ahead there seemed to be a boat tied to a wooden dock. As he got closer to the boat, something felt as if it was calling to him. Something quiet and strange yet inconsistent. Nevertheless, the reward for the peacefulness of the White Sea was much stronger and he continued his path.
Closer now, he could see the small boat totter against the gentle waves of the White Sea, and as he began to put a foot into the boat he paused.
Again, the sound was heard once more, however much stronger, and was accompanied by a strong floral scent.
“Loid! Papa!”
Ah, those sounds…it’s familiar but what was it. He was sure he heard of it before.
Suddenly the white fog began to enclose around him once again and the lapping of water stilled.

Beyond the smell of antiseptics, on a bed lied Loid low upon a pillow. Flanked on both sides were his daughter, Anya, head asleep on the bed and hand firmly gripping Loid’s, and on the other side sat Frankie, his hair less poofy than normal, as he diligently watched his pale and ashen friend.
It took both Yuri and Sylvia to finally yank Yor away from Loid and take care of herself for a moment, and Frankie immediately volunteered to watch over both Anya and Loid, as Yor took a quick break to grab some things from home and check on a Bond.
It’s only by a miracle that Loid was lying in this hospital bed, instead of a casket right now.

While many of the doctors have treated and fixed what they could, many have congregated that whether or not Loid would wake up at all, was now up to fate. Finally, after days of intense treatment were over, Yor and Anya were finally allowed to visit Loid, and a miracle happened.
While a doctor was checking on Loid’s condition, Yor and Anya were talk aloud to Loid and the doctor’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Keep continuing what you are doing.”
“What? You mean talking?” Yor asked.
“Yes, for some reason his pulse is slightly stronger.” The doctor whispered.
Undeterred, little Anya was without doubt that her father still alive and Yor witnessing her daughter’s hopeful determination, built up her courage and continued to talk and call out to Loid to wake up and return back to his family.
***
It’s been days since Loid showed signs of improvement, and tirelessly both Yor and Anya would continue to talk to Loid, and it was the effort of everyone else to coax one of the girls to leave Loid so that they can rest, as right now Yor would be back soon and Yuri and Frankie would go to take Anya home for the night.
A knock at a door and in comes in Yor carrying a bag and behind her was Yuri holding cups of steaming herbal tea.
“Hi Frankie, thanks for watching Loid and Anya for me.” Yor places her bag down on the cot nearby and takes a cup from a Yuri and hands it to Frankie.
“Here is a thank you gift. It’s just some herbal tea.” Yor switches spots with Frankie and grabs Loid’s hand.
“I really hope you wake up soon Loid…I-I don’t think-“ Yuri frowns at his sister’s tears start to form and hands her the other cup of tea.
“Here, drink this, you need this too. You don’t want to get sick as well do you?” Yuri says.
Yor sniffs and smiles, “Thank you, Yuri.” Yor takes a sip and sighs into the cup, “you know this is the same tea I’d make whoever you got sick, it worked didn’t it?” Yor said while Frankie takes a sip and blanches, “Gwak, ahem, Yor no offense but this tastes awful!”
Both Yor and Yuri turn to a horrified Frankie and laugh. “Trust me it works whenever you’re sick,” Yuri says as he claps Frankie’s back and looks at the sleeping Anya, “Anyway Yor, we should head out soon with Anya, since the clouds are starting to gather outside and I don’t want to get caught wet in the rain.”
Yor smiles and nods before turing around to watch over Loid.
Suddenly there’s a crash as tea is spilled on the floor and Yor is up pressing her hands to both sides of Loid’s face.
“Yor!?” Both men exclaim, one in the middle of picking up the sleeping Anya and the other racing to clean up the tea spilled on her.
“Mama?” Anya questions as she wakes up to the ruckus.
“His eyes, they moved! Loid, Loid!” Yor exclaimed stronger.
Anya’s eyes widen and she clamors out of Frankie’s arms and races to her Papa’s side.
“Papa! Papa! It’s me, Anya!” She exclaims excitedly.
Weeks since his injury, Loid’s eyelids had begun to quiver and slowly they began to open up and widen.
Bending even closer to him, the two girls whispered as if in disbelief,
“Papa?”
“Loid?”
His throat was too dry to speak, but he finally recognized the sounds he heard back then and smiles back at them.
He was back.
The End
