Summary
Edward Elric has to be the unluckiest human alive. After saving the lives of hundreds of people (not that Mustang is going to focus on that), his arm and leg are completely destroyed. With his parts on back order for four weeks and no work for him in East City, Mustang has no choice but to send him to the most boring assignment on the planet: joining the effort to reorganize Central Command's Records Room.
It's supposed to be an easy, simple, boring four weeks. But this is Edward Elric we're talking about. Of course he's going to stumble into some trouble. He'll just have to figure out a way to deal with the problem while down two limbs and away from Mustang and the rest of the team.

First off, this was fantastically written. It really made me want to read slowly to savor and imagine the things happening, and I was on the edge of my seat going "NO EDDDD STOP THAT PLEASE DON'T GET CAUGHT DON'T DO THAT" the entire time. It was quite nerve-wracking, but it was a very good read. I also loved the amount of worry Mustang exuded regarding this firecracker of a kid who can't seem to get out of trouble. The twists and turns in this story were an emotional rollercoaster.

Stress, perhaps even delusions were natural responses. Poor Nick Carraway was just a stranger for him to project that stress upon.
This resolution was highly relieving. Jay breathed out shakily, regaining control over his facilities once more. That had certainly been a scare. But –
He looked up, directly into the bright green eyes of the man he had fucked during the Great War. Entirely of his own free will. Multiple times.
Or a Great Gatsby AU in which Nick and Gatsby *met* during the war and don’t dare bring it up when they reunite on West Egg. Awkwardness, misunderstandings, and humiliation ensue.
