Marco looked up in surprise, staring with concern and no small amount of fear at the livid figure standing upon the ruins of the bedroom door. The normally joyful and exuberant Mewman Queen had been transformed into a writhing mess of bulging veins, twitching uncontrollably like something out of a horror film as she apoplectically glowered at her King; her hands had a faint pinkish glow, clenched into a fist and drained of blood in a pale, deathlike tint.
“Star? What happened?”
‘I have had the most excruciating day ever possible on record throughout my reign as Queen of this forsaken kingdom, and I am this close to losing it! Mina just barged into the throne room and spent half of the entire MHC meeting ranting against the newly integrated Castle Guard before Rhombulus was able to kick her out! Then I had fifteen nobles complaining, complaining, complaining about the very same integration policies for hours and hours straight, and all I could do was simply nod and smile, nod and smile, nod and smile—”
The King remained tactfully silent, glued to his chair and his arms calmly resting on his desk as he continued to listen to his Queen vent.
“—and then just as I was about to roundly dismiss the whole lot of them, Aunt Etheria then suddenly began sprouting her usual drivel about ‘Tom was the better prince, this kingdom’s all gone to crap, if I was the one in charge,’ and then everyone started to complain about this and that—”
“Right.”
“—oh, how lovely it would have been to take a page from Dad’s book and rip the skulls from their spinal cords, stomp my feet on their corpses, and blast their laughing carcasses into oblivion with my magic! The three-minute exile into the Neverzone will have to do, though, those stupid, racist bastards—”
“Uh-huh.”
“—corn, this day seems to utterly hate me. I need a drink, or a vacation, or a nap, or something…you.”
Realising his wife had finally gone abnormally silent and her gaze now focused on him (jeez, how cold could her stare get?), Marco carefully placed his pen down on the slanted desk before crafting his carefully worded response. “So…what do you want to do now? Do you want to spend some time on the couch and relax or something—”
Star suddenly snapped, instantly snatching Marco with her insane Mewman strength by the lapels (partially dipping down in the process) and hurling herself and her husband onto the wall. The human gulped, swallowing in fright upon seeing the sheer fury seared upon the queen’s eyes—the red wavy lines on the edges of her pupils were throbbing and expanding, the heart-shaped cheek marks on Star’s face replaced with glowing skull stickers.
“S-Star?! W-w-what—”
“Marco, my dear Marco,” the Queen coldly replied, her voice now deceptively calm as her blue eyes bored holes into his, “today has been a long and tedious day, and I need a bit of Human to help me get all of this anger and stress right out of my system—I need you here, and I need you now.”
Star’s eyes narrowed as she angrily glared at her husband.
“So I don’t care if you spoon me, if you massage me, if you cuddle me, if you kiss me, or if you even put another baby in me—though I will personally kill you if that happens again—all I want from you right now, as your Queen commands, is for you to get. On. The. Bed. Right. Now.”
Recognizing the futility of escaping from the situation he was currently in, the King sighed and reluctantly nodded. “All right, then, I suppose these papers can wait—whoa, Star, at least let me take my own clothes off!”
