First thing that Leo sees when he wakes up is Izumi’s face. His soft features, locks of his hair, slightly parted lips. For just a second Leo looks away from Izumi’s face.
"Oh, so it's still night”, he thinks.
He doesn't really remember what his dream was about, but by the tight feeling in his chest he can tell that it was not really a good one. Light memories of sadness, of feeling that he is not enough, that nobody really loves him, the back of the gray haired boy turned to him and walking away, leaving him alone in his own misery, in the darkness of his thoughts, in the absence of inspiration.
Leo slightly shivers and nuzzles little bit closer to Izumi. He is here, he hasn't left him, he will never do. Leo feels his eyes burn and tears rolling down his checks as he tries to hold back a sob, trying to come out of his mouth. He promptly hugs Izumi, burying his face in the crook of his neck. He didn't want to wake his boyfriend up, but he feels Izumi move away to look at him.
"Leo-kun...?", his voice is soft, he only woke up and Leo feels even more guilty that he was the one who disturbed his beautiful knight’s dream.
Leo hugs Izumi even closer, refusing to look up at him and Izumi repeats his name, this time with concern in his voice. Probably he felt that Leo’s face was wet or just understood by the shaking of Leo's shoulders that something was wrong.
"Leo-kun? What’s going on? Are you hurt?", he tries to lift Leo's chin up, to make him look at Izumi and Leo gives up. Now Izumi sees the trades of tears on his cheeks, the redness of his eyes, the way Leo's lips tremble.
"What happened?"- Izumi’s voice is soft, filled with concern. Leo shakes his head a little bit and nuzzles to Izumi’s chest, inhaling Sena’s special scent and trying to calm down. Izumi hugs him closer and asks again:
"Was it a nightmare?", Leo nods.
“Can I do something to help you calm down?”, another nod.
Izumi thinks what he can do to comfort Leo, and remembers about the times when he fell asleep by listening to his voice. Keeping him safe in his arms he begins to murmur Leo about some little funny things that happened to Knights recently, about Little John and her kittens, about their friends and their former classmates. He sees that Leo is slowly calming down due to Izumi’s voice, his shoulders are no longer shaking, that he is not sobbing anymore and Izumi just keeps murmuring some little things to him until Leo's breath is steady again.
He lifts his head from Izumi’s chest and looks at his face.
"I'm sorry that I woke you up", Leo’s voice is still a little bit hoarse from crying.
Izumi just shakes his head. "It's fine, Leo-kun, don't apologize. Would you tell me what happened, please?", he strokes Leo’s back, soothing movements encourage him to talking. Leo looks at him, hesitating, not knowing if he should tell his boyfriend about it, but gives up:
"You know, it was one of these stupid dreams, in which nobody would love me, in which they would use me for their benefit not even caring about who I am but only about my songs, in which Knights... you would turn away from me, wouldn't acknowledge me as your friend, you would turn me down. In which I am all alone locked in my room again but this time nobody, literally nobody cares about me so I just-", his voice trembles, when he is talking, and he feels Izumi’s hand over his mouth, stopping him from talking.
"You are crying again... Leo-kun, listen, I will never leave you alone again, I will always be with you, I will always be your loyal knight, even if you are no longer a king. We promised each other after graduation that we will never leave each other's side, remember? ", Izumi lightly smiles," Everything is fine, Leo-kun, I'm with you, I love you, Knights love you and we will never turn away from you and wil never leave you."
Leo just stares in Izumi’s eyes, he sees the reflection of the moon in them and he knows– he haven't forgotten, he will never forget. So he smiles at Sena and then literally jumps on top of him, hugging him and burying his face in the crook of Izumi’s neck.
"Of course I remember! I don't forget important things, you know." He feels Izumi hugging him back and sighing somewhere into his hair.
"Yeah, I know, Leo-kun."
Leo lifts up a little bit, hands on both sides of Izumi, smiling brightly and looking directly in his eyes. Izumi is looking up at him and fondly smiling. He brings up his hand to gently cup Leo’s cheek, stroking it softly and then pulls Leo down with his other hand to finally make their lips meet.
Izumi is sweet, his lips are soft and Leo is finally fully relaxing in his hold. Izumi puts both his hands around Leo’s neck to bring him even closer and deepens the kiss, sliding his tongue in Leo's mouth.
Leo puts one of his hands in Izumi’s soft hair, stroking them softly, playing with his curls and pulling on some of the strands of his hair, making quite, cute sounds come out of Izumi’s throat. His knight is so cute, so beautiful, so perfect and Leo feels the painful knot in his chest finally loosening, pain from the nightmare going away as he holds Izumi in his arms.
He smiles against Izumi’s lips and slowly breaks the kiss to press his lips to his boyfriend’s cheeks, nose, forehead, the corner of his mouth. He hears Izumi’s soft laugh and can't help but laugh himself. Leo presses his forehead to Izumi’s and stays like this for a while, he feels happy, he feels loved. He pulls away to look at Izumi, who is softly smiling at him, his eyes sparkling with happiness.
"Thank you Sena, I love you" - Leo says with a smile.
"Yeah Leo-kun, me too. Now let's go to sleep, you must be tired from this and we have a hard day tomorrow", Izumi is also smiling as Leo rolls of him and adjusts himself in his boyfriend’s hold, arms around each other and legs tangled.
"Good night, Sena", Leo hugs Izumi closer and inhales his scent, melting into the warmth of the blankets and his boyfriend’s hold.
"Good night, Leo-kun."
