Fictober 2021 - Day 10: "It's so quiet"

Notes:

My notes for this fic literally say "Certified Bad Boy Iida" and I think that's so funny.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“It’s so quiet,” Izuku commented as they entered the park.

Tenya chuckled. “Yes, most people don’t go to the park quite so late.”

“You know, I’m still pretty shocked you suggested this.”

“Really?”

“Yes! We’re definitely breaking curfew right now.”

Tenya flashed a mischievous smile, something Izuku hadn’t ever seen from him. Usually, his boyfriend was a strict rule follower, but it was exciting to see him let loose and actually break a rule. It was a fun, new side of him.

“You’re such a bad boy, Tenya,” he joked.

“You know it!”

They paused in the middle of the park. Tenya laid down a blanket for them and Izuku set down the pillows he was carrying. They laid down together, side by side, holding hands, and looking up at the starry night sky.

“It’s so beautiful,” Izuku whispered as he slid a bit closer to Tenya, who responded by smiling and wrapping his arm around his boyfriend, so they could be even closer.

It was such a nice night. It was cool, but not cold. There was a warm breeze and the sky was totally clear, allowing them to easily view the starry sky. The park was also completely empty since it was so late, so they were surrounded by just the sounds of nature. Izuku couldn’t think of any place he’d rather be.

“Thank you for this.” Izuku broke their content silence after a few minutes.

“For what?”

He sighed. “School has been crazy with classes, all the training, and our work studies. Life has just been feeling so hectic lately, but right now, I feel so relaxed, like I was just able to hit pause for just a little bit. I didn’t know how much I needed that. So thank you.”

Tenya pressed a gentle kiss on Izuku’s forehead. “Anything for you.”

Izuku woke up with a start. He hadn’t realized he’d fallen asleep. As he slowly became aware of his surroundings, he noticed a pair of angry, red eyes hovering over him.

“Aizawa?”

“Problem child.”

Izuku quickly sat up and looked over at Tenya who was already profusely apologizing. A bunch of apologizes also began spilling out of his mouth. They were only supposed to be gone for an hour or two, and their teacher rarely did room checks, so they thought they would be able to return to the dorms without him ever finding out.

“That’s enough,” Shouta said, quieting them both. He sighed deeply.

“We have a curfew for a reason. I need to know where my students are at all times. What would have happened if you ran into a villain and had gotten hurt or kidnapped? I wouldn’t know until it’s too late.”

Izuku stared at his fidgeting hands in his lap, face heating up in embarrassment. He knew his teacher was right. He knew that even before they decided to go on their date, but the words stung a bit more right now.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Aizawa. We shouldn’t have broken curfew. I’m sorry that we worried you.”

Shouta sighed again and hid his face under his capture weapon. “Who said I was worried, problem child?”

Taking it as a sign he wasn’t too mad, Izuku relaxed slightly and smiled up at his teacher.

“Time to go now.”

Tenya and Izuku quickly gathered their blanket and pillows before following Shouta back to campus and to their dorms. He paused once they reached the common room.

“As punishment for breaking curfew, you two will be on cleaning duty for the next two days, understood?”

Both boys nodded. Shouta looked them over one last time. They were some of the last students he expected to be breaking the rules, but admittedly, he couldn’t be too upset with them. They were young, dumb, and in-love, and they hadn’t strayed too far from campus. Plus, they both clearly felt guilty. He hoped his lecture and punishment would be enough to discourage them from breaking the rules again.

Feeling satisfied, Shouta left. Once they were alone, Tenya walked Izuku up to his room.

“I’m sorry our date didn’t end so well.”

“It’s okay. I had a really nice time before we got caught.”

Tenya smiled. “I’m glad. I had a nice time, too. And maybe next time, we could stay on campus?”

Izuku gasped, overdramatically. “Are you suggesting we break curfew again?”

Tenya’s elusive mischievous smile returned. “Maybe.”

“Such a bad boy.” Izuku giggled.

“Always.”
