Constants and variables. The variable that sometimes, they can sleep peacefully. The constant that if they can't, the following will occur in part, or in whole.
Elizabeth will wake up from a nightmare around 2:14 AM. She will be too nervous to go back to sleep and will move to the living room. Booker will sometimes be sitting on the couch, fast asleep. Elizabeth will grab her pillow and blanket, and lay down across the couch, with her head in Booker's lap. If he wakes up enough to notice, he will run his fingers through her hair.
It will be around 3:37 AM when Robert stumbles downstairs with his blanket. The step will creak, and Booker will squint. "Bad dream?" He will ask, and Robert will blearily mumble something. Booker never can understand what he says, but it could be anything from "nightmare" to "lonely" to "warm me" and really, it doesn't matter. Booker will pat the other side of the couch, and Robert will drape the blanket over himself before resting his head on Booker's shoulder.
4:56 AM is when Rosalind joins them. She, unlike Robert, remembers to avoid the creaking stair, and so won't wake anyone up. She will grumble, having already sought Robert out in his room, only to have found it empty. She will fluff her pillow, readjust the blankets over Elizabeth and Robert, and will sit, leaning on her brother.
It will be 6:08 AM when Booker wakes up. He will for a moment be confused as to why he feels so squished, and will finally take notice of the cuddle pile that's occured. Elizabeth is half hanging off the couch. Robert's mouth is wide open. Rosalind is snoring. Booker will smile, and check the time. It's still early.
He will go back to sleep.
