Chapter Text
Dazai's brown eyes fluttered open after a short nap, noticing a new change in surroundings. Rather than the usual view of his room provided by the Armed Detective Agency, he was in a small alleyway between shops. As he familiarised himself with his brand new surroundings, he noticed that the people outside the alleys didn't even look like actual human beings at all. Some had the faces of animals, while some had an extra limb, and some were incredibly tall or short. Many of whom he saw didn't even seem to have a human face. Each were just... different. Dazai wondered if he randomly spawned in a different universe where humans did not exist. Other than his bandages, Dazai either did not stand out, or stood out a lot. He just seemed like a regular man, maybe more attractive than most.
“Currently, It is 2:30pm on 17 February 2319. There has been an accident..." Dazai overheard an announcement playing on those big screens on buildings in the city. Now this was something that even he would not expect. Did I time travel? Or did I enter an entire new world? Where I was wasn't even near a big city like this...The man started contemplating all the possibilities of how this had happened. However, he soon figured that this was a mystery to be solved as he progressed with his journey in this new, somewhat unfamiliar world, deciding that he should learn more about it for the time being. Perhaps abilities are more prevalent now, Dazai assumed, looking at the humanoid beings. That was when he overheard some young children talking,
“Hey! What's your quirk?”
“Quirk?”
“You don’t know? It’s the power we get when we grow older! Most people have one!”
“Oh, so that's what it's called! I can control the actions of other people----”
“F-freak! Don’t come near me! I don’t want you controlling me like a doll!”
From this conversation alone, Dazai learnt a few things: Powers do exist---- they're known as quirks. Compared to abilities which are sporadic, it's probably genetic because most people have it. And worst of all, people are judged solely based on what their quirk is.
It was then a loud crash was heard and screams were cried out. People started running in all directions. "Villains! Run!" the civilians chorused as they escaped, trying to get away from the danger. Those who were unlucky could not leave in time, ultimately getting at the least, severely injured. Chaos ensued as the 'villains' wrecked the place, destroying buildings and doing whatever they pleased. Dazai merely watched as the place he was in got destroyed, as if he was a god viewing the world from above, not caring as to how he may be harmed. Even if he struck, maybe his ability would stop it from injuring him. He wanted to know if his ability works anyway.
Soon, some people, with their quirks activated, came and fought against the villains. Considering that the civilians didn't even use their quirks, Dazai quickly deduced that those were the 'heroes', arriving to save the day. Dazai noticed that the heroes caused a lot of destruction fighting the villains, as if they could do anything they want without a care in the world because they're 'protecting everyone'.
Of course, the villains did not surrender. They definitely did not want to give up without a fight. However, it was almost certain that they would lose as the heroes had much better equipment than themselves.. One by one, the villains were arrested and the heroes won effortlessly.
Dazai satisfied parts of his curiosity about the world. Upon witnessing quirks in action and part of how the society works, he also concluded that there seemed to be only black and white, only good and bad, in this ‘hero society’ as he would call it, no in between. Seems that he should consider adding some grey into this new place.
Just as he was processing his thoughts, something hit him at the back of his head.
