Chapter Text
“Oppas, you have to come!”
Yoongi didn’t even spare Hosook a glance as she pleaded with him and his boyfriend Seokjin. He honestly couldn’t remember what it was she was trying to get them to go to, and at this rate he didn’t care. Finals were coming up in three weeks, and Yoongi couldn’t afford to fail them. He wished someone had told him how difficult becoming a designer was before his younger self had decided on his dreams for the future. Sure, he absolutely loved clothes and learning more and more about them through his fashion major, but man was it hard work.
“What do we have to go to, Hobi-yah?” Seokjin asked from his perch on their couch. The three of them had been friends for the longest time and had decided to move in together after Hosook had reached her junior year of college so they wouldn’t have to deal with any campus trouble. It’s not like anything would happen, since all three of them didn't quite swing in the ways people wanted them to.
“Jimin’s concert! It’s going to be so much fun, and you two need to get out more! Staying cooped up in here isn’t doing you any good!” Hosook said, waving her hands around in an animated manner. “Yoongi! When’s the last time you went outside that wasn’t for class?”
Yoongi looked up from his sketch at her question. Oh fuck. When was the last time he had gone out?
“It doesn’t matter, Hosook. I have to finish this before I can continue studying.”
There was a loud scoff from the general direction where Hosook stood.
“You can do that later.” She said firmly. “Seokjin-oppa, come on! Tell Yoongi he has to go with us!”
“Woah, woah, woah, who said I was going?” Seokjin asked. The oldest was just as busy as Yoongi was with his new teaching position at the local middle school, and they all knew his evenings were spent grading papers and creating lesson plans.
Hosook gave him a pointed stare. “You’re coming with me, old man. Now tell your cat of a boyfriend that he’s coming too.”
Yoongi could just picture the scowl that had crossed over Seokjin’s handsome face. He smirked as he continued his sketch.
“Yoongichi, you heard the woman. We’re going to a wannabe MCR concert.” Seokjin drawled, causing Yoongi to let out a laugh.
“Yah! That’s my girlfriend’s band you’re mocking!” Hosook cried out. “And I already told the band you’d be coming, they’re so excited to meet you. Their music is so good, you’ll love them.”
Yoongi wanted to groan in frustration. He needed to finish his sketch for Monday, but a Friday night at a rock concert sounded so appealing.
“Ugh. Fine.” Yoongi eventually yielded, causing his best friend to shout out happily and his boyfriend to grin. The notorious workaholic Yoongi Min, dragged out of his apartment to go to a rock concert? Now that’s new.
The three of them changed into a more appropriate concert attire before getting in the car. Hosook was given driving privileges since she’s the one that knows where the concert is, and Seokjin called shotgun before any of them were even out of the door. Which meant that Yoongi was stuck in the backseat, but he didn’t mind too terribly since Seokjin was kind enough to give him the aux cord.
“Oh hey! You do know them!” Hosook exclaimed once the music started playing. Yoongi looked over at his brightly dressed friend, a questioning look on his face. The song he had put on was ‘Pretty Great’ by DNA, a group he discovered a few months back.
“What are you talking about?” He asked her.
Hosook let out a bright laugh and her mouth formed her signature heart-shaped smile. “That’s Jiminie’s band! DNA!” She said, “she’s the one singing!”
“Oh awesome!” Seokjin said and turned up the volume. “Who else is in the band?”
Hosook seemed elated that either of them had shown interest in her girlfriend’s band. “There’s four of them! Jimin, or as fans know her ‘Chimmy’, is the lead singer. She sometimes plays guitar, but she mostly does all the vocals. Then there’s Taehyung, or V, and he does guitar. He provides a lot of backup vocals, but sometimes he switches with JIminie for the spot as the main singer.”
She stops to shimmy to the song playing and sing a bit of the chorus, causing Yoongi to let out a little snort at her actions. Leave it to her to dance no matter what, even if she’s driving.
“After Tae is Jeongguk, also known as JK - he’s their drummer. He’s absolutely insane on them, and he does main vocals sometimes. Like Taehyungie though, he does backups. And last but not least, there’s Namjoon, or RM. They’re the bassist, and they’re like a prodigy when it comes to music. They actually write most of their songs!” Hosook was so happy she could talk about her younger friends to her older friends, and hopefully they’d be introduced to each other.
“Does RM not do vocals as well? You said that everyone else sings.” Yoongi asked, leaning between the front seats.
Hosook’s smile dropped slightly. “Ah, yeah. It’s really rare for them to add any of their vocals to a song.” The excited atmosphere in the car had tensed, which just wouldn’t do.
“Hobi-yah, are we there yet?” Seokjin whined, acting childishly. As if a switch was flipped, the happy mood was back when Hosook let out another loud laugh.
“Ah, oppa! It’ll just be a few more minutes!” She giggled.
And just as Hosook said, they arrived at the venue ten minutes later. She grabbed their wrists and started to drag them towards the building, shooting the security team a blinding grin as they passed by. The two huge men nodded in response - she was clearly a regular figure.
Still holding on to the two men, Hosook swerved her way between other concert-goers as if she’s done it a thousand times before. Yoongi knows she probably has. Hosook and Jimin had been dating for five years, and the band started two years ago. Since then, Hosook had been mentioning bringing Yoongi and Seokjin to one of the concerts, and that night was the time she had managed to get them to go.
“Here we are!” Hosook announced, finally releasing their wrists. Yoongi looked around, feelings somewhat out of place. The three of them were in the center near the stage. Anyone of the band members would be able to see them clearly enough. All the other people making their way into the building were dressed in thousands of different colors, ranging from the most neon greens to the palest pinks. He was out of place wearing his completely black outfit.
The last time he had been to a concert was years ago with his friend Jaebeom when they had skipped school one time. It was a whole rock concert, dark clothes and makeup was worn by everyone. This venue was so different from that - Yoongi’s black ripped jeans, black t-shirt, and black and grey flannel stood out like a shadow in the sea of rainbows.
How did Seokjin manage to fit in? He wasn’t dressed too differently from Yoongi, he also had on dark jeans, but it was probably his white shirt and red blazer that made him blend in. Yoongi admired his boyfriend so much.
“What are you smiling at?” Seokjin’s voice cut through Yoongi’s thoughts sounding slightly amused.
“You.” Yoongi replied without hesitation. Seokjin just snorted, pulling Yoongi close by wrapping an arm around his waist.
“Ugh. I hate gay people.” Hosook said from their side.
“Hobi-yah. You’re literally a lesbian. You have a girlfriend.” Seokjin drawled.
“Besides the point.” Hosook said, flipping her hand at them. As if on cue with the gesture, the first few notes of a guitar started to play. Cheers erupted around them as the back of the stage lit up in a rainbow of lights. Yoongi stood there, completely entranced as the stage lights revealed four figures on the stage, all standing with their instruments and microphones.
“Jiminie!” Hosook screamed, a grin wide across her face.
“Everybody!” Jimin, the beautiful girl behind the center microphone shouted out. “You know what I’m feeling tonight?”
All of the audience screamed in excitement, the energy raising through the roof. Yoongi caught Seokjin’s eye and saw that he had a giddy smile on his face. It was like a shot of adrenaline had been given to them, making them feel like they were on top of the world.
“I’m feeling kind of Lovesick!” Jimin shouted, and immediately the song started as the crowd screamed again.
Yoongi watched as the band moved with each other seamlessly. Jimin danced around as she sang, dyed orange hair swaying with her movements. She looked completely in her element, hyping up the crowd while singing effortlessly. To her right was the guitarist, Taehyung. He had just as much energy as Jimin, his bright blue hair falling into his eyes as he danced along. His guitar was powerful, loud and energetic and made everyone want to move with them.
Behind them was the drummer - Jeongguk. He played his drums with so much enthusiasm, the muscles of his body on display due to his lack of a shirt. Yoongi’s sure a lot of the screams in the crowd could be because of that. A huge, rabbit-like grin was on JK’s face, giving his otherwise masculine appearance a childlike innocence.
But it was the bassist on Jimin’s left that had captured Yoongi’s attention.
An angel. That’s all that could come to Yoongi’s mind as he stared at them mesmerized.
They looked so beautiful, their honey brown hair glowing under the bright stage lights, their silver jewelry glinting like the stars had moved from the sky to decorate their body in the most gorgeous way. Yoongi could feel the immense power that came from the sturdy deep violet base they had strung across their shoulder and chest with the notes they plucked out to the fast paced song. He couldn’t take his eyes off their smile, all dimples and pearly teeth, the sign of pure euphoria as they danced across the stage with the rest of the band.
“Holy fuck.” Yoongi heard Seokjin say. “That’s them? Why the fuck are they all so hot, goddamn.” It was like he was thinking out loud, causing Yoongi to laugh. He couldn’t disagree, all of the band members were incredibly attractive, and both Yoongi and Seokjin had a weakness for pretty people.
It felt like a dream, being surrounded by the happy feelings of the crowd, his boyfriend’s hand on his waist, watching the pretty bass player with the perfect smile.
Yoongi couldn’t believe it.
Chapter Text
The concert was over before Seokjin knew it. The entire time he had Yoongi and Hosook right by his side, singing and dancing along to the upbeat music DNA was playing. The crowd was just as high energy at the end as they were at the beginning, and Seokjin was definitely riding off that high. He couldn’t keep the smile off of his face.
“Come on, we have to get backstage!” Hosook said, grabbing the two men’s elbows. That’s right, Hosook wanted them to meet the band. Perks of dating one of the members, you get backstage passes, Seokjin thought.
The two boyfriends let themselves be dragged away by Hosook towards a door on the left side of the room that was guarded by two huge bodyguards. They were easily taller than Seokjin, and he wasn’t short by any means.
“Hi Alex! Hi Jaehyeon!” Hosook greeted them happily. “Can we go see Jiminie?”
The taller of the two guards gave her a grin. “Of course, Hobi! The band’s still changing, so just wait for them by the rooms.” He said.
“Thanks, Jae!” Hosook said and led Yoongi and Seokjin past them and through the door. The giddy smile on Seokjin’s face morphed into one of nerves as they walked closer and closer to the dressing rooms. What if Hosook’s friends didn’t like them? Seokjin had never met Jimin personally, but based on the way Hosook talked about her, she was apparently an angel. But the rest of the band he knew nothing about. They were all so gorgeous on stage, and he knew he didn’t pale in comparison, but there was still a level of intimidation he felt from them. They were an insanely popular band, and he was just a middle school teacher. Would they think he was lame?
And what about the pretty bass player? How on earth was he supposed to introduce himself to them? He couldn’t flirt, not without talking to Yoongi first even though he knew Yoongi felt the same way he did. But could he even talk to them normally? Not if their pretty honey hair was glowing in the light and they were smiling with their perfect smile and with their lovely hands that played the bass so well. How, how, how?
“Hey.” Yoongi's voice. “You’re thinking too hard, Jinnie.” He said. A tight squeeze was given to Seokjin’s hand from Yoongi, and he took note of the slight layer of sweat there. Yoongi was just as nervous as he was.
“Don’t try to reassure me when I know you’re just as nervous as I am, Yoongichi.” The older teased, squeezing his hand back. Yoongi rolled his eyes and nudged Seokjin’s shoulder with his own.
Before he knew it, Hosook had led them to the backstage area and the three of them stood in front of the dressing rooms where two people already were standing.
Well, not standing. More like wrestling.
“Jiminie!” Hosook screeched, causing the smaller of the two wrestling people to look up. It was Jimin, with her flaming orange hair, bare face, and lopsided grin as she pushed the other person off of her with ease to run to her girlfriend.
“Hobi!” She said, jumping into Hosook’s arms. Seokjin watched the two of them fondly, a happy feeling in his chest seeing the person who made his best friend so alive.
“Ow, fuck, Minnie.” The other person - who was now on the floor and cradling their stomach - groaned. Seokjin looked over at them and saw it was the drummer, Jeongguk. He had changed his clothes, seeing that he was wearing a white shirt and sweatpants instead of the ripped black jeans and no shirt at all.
“You okay, kid?” Seokjin asked him, holding out a hand for him to take. Jeongguk took it with a grumble as Seokjin hauled him up from the floor.
“‘M not a kid.” He mumbled.
“He’s fine, he’s just a big baby.” Jimin said from her spot in Hosook’s arms. Seokjin snorted, that much was obvious.
“Oi! I’m not a baby! I’m not even the youngest!” He shouted at the girl, pointing a tattooed finger at her.
“Yeah, Joo is.” A voice cut in, causing everyone to turn.
And oh. It was the pretty bassist, looking incredibly soft in an oversized yellow sweater, loose black shorts, and black tights. They weren’t even looking up at the exchange in front of them, rather they were focused on the DS in their hands that was playing upbeat digital music that Seokjin assumed to be from a Cooking Mama game.
But it wasn’t the bassist who had spoken. It was the guitarist, Taehyung, and was the one guiding the bassist over to them.
Seokjin felt his breath hitch as Namjoon got closer. They looked so soft and so small, which was completely different from their presence on stage. He heard Yoongi inhale sharply next to him and felt his hand become sweatier. Yeah, it wasn’t just him that was stunned by Namjoon.
“Hey!” Hosook said, and that was what made Namjoon look up. They grinned so wide, showing off the pair of cutest dimples. The dangling silver earrings they had on earlier were gone, but they had a silver septum piercing that was slightly crooked and four eyebrow piercings that had remained.
But their eyes, their eyes, he couldn't see that well from the crowd before. But they were just as gorgeous as the rest of them, with their intense dragon look that morphed into a puppy look at the sight of Hosook. Seokjin couldn’t help but feel that he had seen them before. He didn’t know where, but he had seen those eyes.
Seokjin watched as Namjoon practically tackled Hosook into a hug.
“Joo!” She said, hugging Namjoon tightly. The bassist was like a cat, rubbing their head and cheek against hers, and if they were able to purr, Seokjin was sure they would be. “How are you, baby?” Hosook asked them.
Wait… what? Baby? Wasn’t Hosook dating Jimin?
“Baby’s tired, Hobi-unnie.” Jimin said, petting Namjoon’s hair.
Ok, probably just a pet name then, Seokjin thought.
“What are we, chopped liver, Hobi-noona?” Seokjin heard Taehyung ask.
“Of course not, Tae. I just like Joo more than you.” She stuck her tongue out at the blue-haired boy, earning an indignant squawk in response. “Anyways! Introduce yourselves, babies!” Hosook said to the band.
“I’m Taehyung Kim! I go by he/they pronouns!” Taehyung announced proudly, placing a hand on his chest. “Ggukkie here is my boyfriend!” He then grabbed Jeongguk’s arm, shaking him lightly.
The drummer grinned a bunny-esque smile and linked his arm with Taehyung’s. “I’m Jeongguk Jeon, I use he/him pronouns.”
“I’m Jimin Park! I use she/her pronouns! Hobi-unnie is my beautiful girlfriend!” Jimin said, still holding on to Namjoon tightly.
Seokjin saw how Hosook blushed a bright pink at Jimin’s compliment. How cute.
But the bassist didn’t pick up where Jimin left off in introductions. They stayed silent, eyes Seokjin and Yoongi with a look of fear. Why were they apprehensive? Seokjin didn’t think he looked scary, but maybe his shoulders could come off as intimidating? And Yoongi wasn’t that scary. He liked to dress in all black, but he had the face of a cat. He wasn’t scaring anyone.
“Go on, Joo. They’re my friends, it’s okay.” Hosook said softly, nudging Namjoon’s arm.
Namjoon sighed, turning their gaze away from the two men across from them. “My name is Namjoon Kim. I use they/them pronouns. I’m the youngest of the group.”
Seokjin almost swooned. Namjoon’s voice was so deep, so beautiful. It was deeper than his own voice and even deeper than Yoongi’s raspy low tone of voice. Not only was Namjoon gorgeous, they also had the voice of an angel. Seokjin could feel Yoongi tense up next to him, and out of the corner of his eye saw a light pink blush cover his boyfriend’s face.
“Yay!” Hosook cheered with a childlike glee. “Okay old men, your turn!” She said to her roommates.
Seokjin scoffed. “I’ll let the comment slide for now, Hosook Jung.” He said, leveling the woman with a playful glare. “Rude roommates aside, I’m Seokjin Kim, I use he/him pronouns. This guy here is my boyfriend.”
He elbowed Yoongi gently in the side when he didn’t say anything.
“Ah, I’m Yoongi Min, I also use he/him pronouns.” Yoongi said, his gaze focused somewhere between Namjoon and Hosook’s heads.
“That’s everyone!” Hosook said and clapped her hands together. “Let’s go out for dinner! I’m sure you’re all hungry.” She said, turning towards the band, who all nodded in confirmation, some of them beginning to whine childishly.
Seokjin felt some of the nerves in his chest dissipate. None of them hated him so far! This was good! He still wasn’t sure why Namjoon was afraid at first or why they looked so familiar, but that was something to ponder over later.
“Where did you have in mind, Hobi-yah?” Yoongi asked. The band was gathering up their things to head out, so Seokjin, Yoongi, and Hosook were waiting for them by the backdoor.
“It depends on what they want, oppa.” Hosook said simply, gesturing to the approaching band.
The seven of them left the venue, saying enthusiastic goodbyes to the two guards Alex and Jaehyeon. As they walked, they debated over where to go for dinner, and Seokjin couldn’t help but notice that Namjoon stayed silent the whole time.
They split off into two cars, four of them in Hosook’s car and three in Jeongguk’s. Seokjin climbed into the backseat of Hosook’s car with Yoongi right next to him, and Jimin and Hosook got into the front. Jimin put on an 80’s playlist on the radio, and off to the restaurant they went.
Notes:
sorry for a short chapter! the next will be dinner and a focus on namjoonie!
Chapter Text
Namjoon hated the familiar feeling of anxiety brewing in their stomach. They didn’t want to make a scene in front of Hosook’s friends, but they hadn’t wanted to meet them at all. Hosook had said only good things about them, but it didn’t stop the nerves from invading their thoughts.
Not many knew about Namjoon’s identity. Well, everyone who knew of DNA knew that the bassist RM was nonbinary. But none of their fans knew their identities. To all of their fanbase, Namjoon was RM, Jeongguk was JK, Taehyung was V, and Jimin was Chimmy. It hadn’t been revealed to the public any of their names, so anyone who knew Namjoon professionally wouldn’t know that they weren’t male.
The last time they had come out to someone, it hadn’t gone well. It was only their band and pretty-much-big-sister Hosook who knew Namjoon was nonbinary and respected them for it.
Namjoon didn’t know who Hosook’s roommates were when she was talking about them. She hadn’t mentioned their names, had only called them ‘old men’ when talking about them, and hadn't given any background.
So imagine Namjoon’s surprise when Seokjin and Yoongi turned out to be Hosook’s friends.
Namjoon remembered them. They were just a freshman at the time, but who could forget those two amazing seniors? Namjoon’s only friend at the time was Jeongguk, who is only eleven days older than them, and they were so confused during their high school years. Pressure from their parents, relationships they weren’t ready for, the anxiety that constantly tried to drown them when all they wanted to do was float. They hadn’t known who they were.
Namjoon was in the school’s orchestra. They were constantly in the music room, practicing endlessly. They’d become principal bass by the time their senior year rolled around, so they were there more often than not. It only made sense that they’d end up meeting Yoongi Min. The senior was amazing, spending his free period giving other students piano lessons with the head music director’s permission. And more often than not, Yoongi would be joined by his boyfriend Seokjin.
Their first meeting was fleeting. Namjoon had been getting ready to go to their usual practice room, dragging their heavy double bass through the hallway and not paying attention, rather looking down at their feet and the hood on their head that they shouldn’t have had on in the first place blocking their peripheral view. So really it was Namjoon’s fault when they ran face first into a broad chest and stopped the conversation that had been flowing. Namjoon had looked up, and their eyes locked briefly with Seokjin’s onyx gaze.
“Oh! Careful there.” One of them had said. Namjoon wasn’t sure who, but two pairs of hands were setting them upright and fixing their glasses that had gone askew.
“There you go!” Seokjin, Namjoon had recognized, said. “Look up next time, yeah? Wouldn’t want a cute face like yours to get smushed.”
Namjoon had blushed heavily, their acne covered face going bright red as they stuttered out an apology for having run into the two seniors.
“It’s okay, kid.” Yoongi had said. With a pat to his head from Seokjin, the seniors continued their way down the hallway. Namjoon had watched them leave, their face still burning not and a fluttering in their stomach that they couldn’t decipher the emotion behind. Nerves? Embarrassment? A stupid teenage crush?
So yeah. Namjoon’s first and only meeting with Seokjin and Yoongi was because they hadn’t been watching where they were going. Thanks a lot, clumsy aloofness.
“You okay, Joo?”
Taehyung asked from the front passenger seat. Namjoon had gone with their best friend and his boyfriend due to the carpool split, so they were sitting in the backseat while Jeongguk drove and Taehyung was being a nuisance in the front.
Apparently he had stopped being a nuisance to check on their maknae.
“I’m fine, Tae.” Namjoon mumbled, slumping down in their seat. “Just tired.”
Namjoon accidentally met Jeongguk’s eyes in the rearview mirror, and it was obvious their best friend wasn’t convinced. A clear ‘tell me later’ look was in his gaze. Namjoon sighed, slumping down and leaning against the cool car window.
They hoped neither Seokjin nor Yoongi remembered them. Freshman year Namjoon was someone they wanted to keep in the past.
Namjoon pulled out their headphones and pulled them over their ears, putting on the playlist that contained the pieces they’d be performing at their orchestra concert the next day as a distraction. They didn’t want to think about Seokjin and Yoongi. Namjoon closed their eyes and listened to the piece, fingering along as if they were playing their double bass.
A tap on their shoulder brought them from the music, and Namjoon opened their eyes to see Jeongguk next to them. Wasn’t he literally just driving?
Jeongguk must’ve seen the confusion on their face and let out a little giggle.
“We’re here, Joo.” He said.
“Oh.”
The three of them got out of the car and headed into the restaurant, a traditional Korean style restaurant that filled Namjoon with a bittersweet feeling. They used to go to restaurants like that one often, but coming out to transphobic parents changed some things.
“Hobi-noona says they’re already inside.” Taehyung said, his gaze on his phone.
Their table was seated near the back next to a large window that looked out over the river next to the building. Hosook and Jimin were seated on one side of the table while Yoongi and Seokjin sat on the other.
There was that nasty feeling again. Namjoon’s fingers curled around the sleeve of Jeongguk’s shirt. They didn’t want to be there.
“Ah! You’re here!” Hosook cheered, leaping up from her seat and rushing over to Namjoon and engulfing them in her arms.
Well, a hug from their big sister was always nice. Namjoon buried their nose in Hosook’s shoulder and tried to push down the nastiness in their chest.
“Are you okay, baby?” Hosook whispered into their ear. Namjoon nodded minutely, embarrassed that Hosook had noticed their mood. They didn’t want to bring down the mood though, so they’d endure the tightness they felt .
Hosook seemed to understand, so she squeezed Namjoon once more and then let them go, guiding them to sit down next to her. But that meant that they were sitting across from Seokjin and Yoongi.
Their face felt hot. Was it hot in the restaurant? Maybe they were just running warm?
“Hey.” A smooth voice said. Namjoon assumed they were talking to someone else before there was a light tap on their hand. They looked up to see Yoongi looking at them, a soft expression on his face.
Any words Namjoon would have responded with disappeared. Why did Yoongi have to talk to them?
“I really liked your playing, Namjoon-ah.” He said, a small smile crossing his face. “How long have you been playing for?”
Shouldn’t he know that? Or did he really not remember who Namjoon was? It made sense, really. Namjoon had only ever watched Yoongi from afar. But that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt. Yes, Namjoon wanted to be forgotten, but it still hurts for someone to completely forget you.
“S-since I was eleven.” Namjoon whispered. They titled their head, thinking. “So, uh, twelve years? I started in middle school.”
“That’s impressive! I learned piano in high school. Yoongichi taught me!” Seokjin chimed in, leaning his arm on Yoongi’s shoulder.
Namjoon tried to stop the small smile from crossing their face. They knew that. Seokjin’s laughter was unmistakable every time he messed up the song the two were rehearsing, and it was loud enough for Namjoon to hear from their nearby practice room. It was cute to hear back then, how much fun Yoongi and Seokjin had together. And now, seven years later, they’re still cute with one another. Hanging off of each other and fond touches. Namjoon smiled at the sight.
“Yeah, and you were terrible at it.” Yoongi drawled, side-eyeing the man next to him.
“Ya! Rude! I’m much better now than I was at eighteen!” Seokjin said.
Namjoon couldn’t help but giggle.
“I’d like to hear you play sometime.” They said softly, covering up their smile with their hand.
Yoongi immediately reached out, grabbing their wrist gently.
“Don’t cover your smile, Namjoon-ah.” He said. “We’d like to see it.”
Oh.
Their heart was thumping so loud they swore anyone could hear it. Yoongi was looking at them softly, a smile of his own on his face. A quick glance over to Seokjin showed the same expression, and Namjoon’s breath caught in their throat. They felt like they were fourteen all over again.
“Let’s order!” Hosook shouted out, clapping her hands together and effectively ending the moment.
Yoongi let go of Namjoon’s hand and rested it on top of the table. Namjoon tried to calm their breathing as the others began to order their food. What the fuck was that? And we? Was Yoongi including Seokjin?
They didn’t know.
“What do you want, Namjoonie?” Jimin said to them, nudging their side with her elbow.
Namjoon took a deep breath before responding. “Just what I usually get, Minnie.”
The orange haired woman nodded, giving their order to the waitress. Namjoon leaned back in their seat and cuddled up next to Hosook, trying to focus on anything else. Anything but the perfect couple in front of them that they were still so hopelessly in love with.
Dinner went by with conversations shared by Namjoon’s company. There were constant peals of laughter as they told each other stories, and Namjoon didn’t have the energy in them to give more than just a few chuckles here and there. Their gaze was set on Hosook’s rings that she had set on the table, and eventually they took them to fiddle with as the night carried on.
They must’ve zoned out or something, because eventually it was one in the morning and Jeongguk was nearly asleep on Taehyung’s shoulder before the rest of them decided to call it a night.
“Bye, babies!” Hosook said, squeezing each of the band members individually in a hug before they piled into Jeongguk’s car to drive back to their shared apartment.
Namjoon and Jimin cuddled up to each other in the backseat as Hosook and her roommates were saying their final goodbyes through the open car window. They drifted off into a light sleep, blissfully unaware of the two gazes resting on them, a warmth and a question in their eyes.
