Work Text:
the chill, crisp night air flowed around shotaro, who was seated outside on his balcony. it was a kind of night where he was lost in his mind, deep in his various thoughts. some bad, some good, some angsty and some made him laugh out loud. there was nothing bad about this, in fact it gave him a chance to escape into his head, where he felt the most comfortable and warm. just him and his thoughts.
what woke sungchan up was the fact that shotaro was not beside him in their shared bed. it alerted him, thinking something bad happened to him. he looked all around until he spotted him, and he visibly relaxed. and when he saw him he knew, it was one of those nights. where shotaro was just alone, on his own, spending time with himself. the first few times this happened sungchan thought something must’ve been wrong, thought shotaro was overthinking negatively. but a brief explanation from him made him understand, and backed down to leave him be.
though it always occurred, sungchan never bothered to ask. ask what exactly shotaro was thinking about. ask what was happening in that genius of a brain of his. he thought it would be overstepping boundaries even when he knew shotaro was more than glad to talk to sungchan freely. he thought it was personal to shotaro, and he didn’t want to invade. but he was curious and it was bugging him so bad. he wanted to know what his boyfriend was thinking about.
so, he got up and carefully walked up and beside him. shotaro hasn’t noticed him yet, the look on his face obvious that he was very spaced out. silence consumed them, the only noises heard were cars drifting by and leaves rustling on the trees. sungchan stared at shotaro’s moonlit face, and his beautiful features. he really thought he was beautiful, being blessed by the gods for having heavenly visuals. few minutes passed by and he finally decided to speak up.
”what are you thinking about?”
it came out soft and hushed, but shotaro still heard it and snapped out of his zoning out. his head whipped towards to sungchan, shocked to have found him beside him suddenly. he looked back forward, looking at the big oak tree that was beside their apartment complex. he took a few moments to think about his words, and if he should say them truthfully.
”us.”
hearing that, sungchan furrowed his brows and frowned. he looked at shotaro’s expression to see whether that was a good thing or not. but he just looked blank. it worried him. did… shotaro think about breaking up? did he not want to be together? was he going to lea-
“nothing bad, baby… stop worrying.”
ah, so it’s all ok. sungchan let out a breath that he didn’t know he was holding in. but he found it so endearing that shotaro was able to tell that he was stressing. he decided to ask another question.
”what about us that you’re thinking about?”
sungchan watched as shotaro’s face went from blank to happy, a small smile (that sungchan absolutely loved about him) appearing on his face. shotaro looked down, blushing, shyly messing with his sweatpants strings. whatever he’s thinking must be making him feel so happy.
”just.. us.” it’s hard for him to explain.. “i love us.”
”ah..” sungchan nods, smiling “i love us too.”
shotaro got up and sat himself on his boyfriend’s hand, resting his head on his shoulder. sungchan held onto him tightly, placing a kiss on his head. the rest of the time was spent silently, soaking in each other’s presence and warmth, occasionally stealing a few pecks. after a while, the wind picked up, and they scattered inside.
they laid on the bed, limbs entangled together, and shared lazy kisses. shotaro pulled away, looking into sungchan’s eyes.
”what i meant earlier, i mean it. i love us. i love being together with you…”
the taller male’s heart rate picked up, his boyfriends words having a serious effect on him. and those words meant a lot to him. he agrees, the idea of them makes him so euphoric, so lucky. since the day they got together, confessing under the star-lit sky, everyday has been a blessing. every moment they had together being the best. truly, he loves them, too.
”me too, darling… me too.”
and they shared one last (sloppy) make out session before passing out in each other’s arms.
