Overthinking is Jake’s breakfast.
Today, Thursday, is his and Heeseung’s first anniversary as boyfriends. When he meets him after class — since Heeseung is from engineering while he is from accounting — he hopes that his gift will satisfy the older. Well, Heeseung surely will. He appreciates his lover’s existence, what more of this simple present?
But the younger can’t help but to overthink. On the way to campus by bus, he stares at his gift. It is stored in one tiny black box topped with a purple ribbon (because his boyfriend is an ARMY), enough to look costly and presentable.
So what does Jake prepare?
Jake knew that his boyfriend was luxurious. Being the nobles’ son he was, Heeseung dresses in expensive vestments such as Gucci, Hermes, Prada, Balenciaga, Ami, name them all. He couldn’t afford to give those to him yet, but he knew one thing Heeseung rarely wears — accessories (aside from his favorite wrist watches, of course). Being tall, having long arms and legs, and displaying a pretty face, Heeseung didn’t even need such accessories since he was well-built. However, Jake assumed that maybe Heeseung could start collecting accessories other than wrist watches once he gave him one, specifically a necklace.
The couple necklace he bought from 넘버링 was very simple. It will surely fit Heeseung’s neck especially to his choice of tops which were mostly shades of gray to black. The accessory was a customized chain necklace, easy to lock, with a small tag in the middle as its design’s point. H and S were the initials engraved on the silver tag which corresponded to Heesung’s name. The shop’s for couple promo really solved Jake’s contemplation in choosing a gift. It saved his money aside from the fact that he’s having the same elegant necklace with his lover — his having engraved J and K too as to Jake. But he didn’t wear his for now and kept both in his pocket. He didn't want to spoil his present beforehand. This was the first time he prepared that much for a gift.
They moved their celebration tomorrow, Friday, in lieu of their tight schedules today. They really hate Thursdays! Friday is their one and only school-free day. The plan will not just be a simple celebration as Heeseung insisted on being in charge. This will be their very first ‘romantic’ date, aside from occasional starbucks and mcdo dates they did after class, and he never spilled any details to Jake — not even a single hint of the location.
It will be somewhere expensive, Jake presumed. He didn’t argue anymore and let himself be thrilled by the older. But for today, since today is the real date of their anniversary, he convinced himself of initiating the gift-giving. He knew to himself that Heeseung was the one who always does the first move. He took great care of him despite his naughty attitude. So now, why not present his gift first? Maybe before class so Heeseung would think of him the whole day. How would Heeseung react? Even Jake himself was excited.
Jake is a very playful boy. But Heeseung, despite his cold demeanor, still manages to keep up with his childish partner. Thanks to the confession booth, where their story started back in high school, the younger had the chance to confess to his crush slash the campus prince, Lee Heeseung. The latter never saw accepting Jake would end up him being teased and pranked every single day. But he never regretted it. He loved how their attitudes complement each other.
When Jake departs, he moves directly to his boyfriend’s department hoping to give his present before his class starts. Unfortunately, everybody is sitting straight already, eyes in front, listening to their professor as Jake witnesses. Probably the prof came earlier today.
He steps back and marches to his own department. When he reaches his room, he sits and decides to text Heeseung about having lunch together. But he remembers that today is Thursday and their breaks don't match and meet not even for a couple of minutes — Heeseung being ahead of him and will be dismissed earlier. So Jake decides to postpone giving his gift and just text him about meeting each other after class.
Hey! Let’s meet after class, around 5pm? That’s the end of my Financing.
: Sure! I have no choice anw but to wait you for two freaking hours again lol.
Then go home already, grumpy! Tsk.

And yes! Cold Heeseung is playful to Jake ONLY — always keeping up to how playful Jake is. If people only know how clingy Heeseung is, it’s far from how he acts whenever he’s with his other colleagues. But Jake prefers to keep that to himself — being selfish of his boyfriend, the fact that Heeseung changes only for him (in a good way).
Both of them are still shy in PDA. But whenever they are alone, they do some random hugs, cuddles, and pecks. Peck it is. Their lips have never touched yet. A peck to one cheek was the most intimate gesture they had which only happened when one of them became sulky over something — usually when Jake got angry over Heeseung for skipping meals just to finish his plates. It takes a peck on Jake’s cheek to somehow eradicate his strict and overprotective personality. Of course, Jake can’t resist Heeseung’s peck!
Time passes slowly but quickly at the same time. It is already his last class and Jake assumes that Heeseung is waiting for him on the field. When the class is dismissed, he rushes to the field and spots Heeseung sitting and scrolling through his phone on one of its benches. The latter sees him immediately and waves his hand, giving him his dimpled smile which is only for Jake (again).
“Where should we eat?” Jake asked.
“Uhm… You can spend the night at my dorm since we’re off to somewhere special tomorrow.” Heeseung suggests, which makes the smaller widen his eyes.
“I mean we can, at least, order meals online. Aren’t you tired?” Heeseung added as he somehow deciphered what's on Jake's mind.
“No… I mean, any will do! And you’re right, tomorrow’s our special celeb so it’s fine settling at yours for tonight.” Jake saves the awkwardness between them.
He forgets about giving his gift because he never sees this coming! It has been forever since he went to Heeseung’s dorm. Of all times, why now — exactly their anniversary — he’s invited to stay overnight?! Feeling shaky is normal, he thought, considering the fact that he has no extra clothes prepared beforehand. What he is wearing now is all he has — white long sleeve polo, black slacks, socks and shoes — his uniform. But he knows that he can freely borrow Heeseung’s clothes, feeling the largeness of his fabrics to his body, so he snaps out his thoughts.
Heeseung just nods in agreement to Jake’s explanation. They walk together to wait for a bus heading to Heeseung’s dorm, which is three stops away from their campus. It is long enough for Jake to think of how he’ll give his present to Heeseung. They sat next to each other when they rode one.
It is rush hour and people, mostly students and workers, are heading home. This is the typical them when they’re in public. They look like high school buddies only, which is shocking once people find out that they are more than that. When they are alone, that’s the time Heeseung will either reach and grip Jake’s cute hand or wrap his arms around Jake’s shoulder, keeping him on his chest. It is his advantage for being taller. But for now, they settle for being each other’s company with zero physical touch, both are casually sitting, wearing the same uniform like 'school buddies'.
When they reach the building, Jake walks faster ahead of Heeseung. The older just laughs, thinking that his lover is still shy for publicity even at his own dorm building. He doesn’t want to rush things with him, though. Especially now that it’s only their first anniversary, there is much time to figure things out.
They reach their room and he sees Jake stop, talking to Kim Sunoo, Heeseung’s cousin.
“Hyung, don’t forget. I’ll get your notes later. I need it for one of my courses,” Sunoo requests. Jake hums in agreement and pats Sunoo’s head before letting him enter his room.
Sunoo resides next to Heeseung’s — as his mom, Heeseung’s aunt, insisted and trusted him for taking care of his dongsaeng. With that, Jake became close with him too. He was the first relative introduced to him by Heeseung for the span of being together. Indeed both of their parents still don’t know about their relationship. And again, there is much time to figure things out (as per Heeseung).
Jake is about to enter, sliding the door’s lock, but he stops when he feels a heavy body lean behind him. Heeseung hugs him from the back. Confused, he looks slightly to the side, facing Heeseung with an eyebrow raised, still not trying to escape.
“What? Nobody’s here now!” Heeseung responds, pertaining to the empty hallway where they are located.
“I know! But can’t we just enter first?” Jake suggests as he feels the taller’s warm breath. Heeseung says no.
The shorter shakes his head and forces himself to enter even with a body, heavier than him, was clinged behind. Heeseung frees Jake when they enter and decides to drop their bags on the couch.
“I’ll shower first.” Jake says.
“Wow, feel at home?” Heeseung jokes but still gestures to his closet for Jake to borrow his clothes.
The latter rolls his eyes and quickly picks one oversized top and one shorts from the pile of Heeseung’s fabrics. It is actually not oversized, it is just too big for his cute size.
He has an idea! He will wear his necklace first, boast it to Heeseung and make him confused. And, at last, he’ll reveal his gift accessory too.
He proceeds to the shower while Heeseung rests himself waiting on his own bed, still in uniform. He sits while both hands are supporting the mattress as he slightly leans backwards.
And that is what happens when Jake comes out of the shower. He wears Heeseung’s black shirt, revealing a portion of his collarbone. His shorts are black too, short enough to complement his white-toned thighs. He walks out barefooted, hair is a bit wet. The shining accessory stands out from his dark outfit and Heeseung notices it immediately.
Guess Jake’s plan will go well!
“Wow, is that new?” Heeseung interrogates, pointing at the accessory. Jake refuses to answer and walks closer to Heeseung, hands are at the back hiding something. He still manages to sit next to the taller. Clueless Heeseung sits erect too, curious on what’s going on with his lover.
“I have a surprise gift for you. I was about to give them earlier today but your class started already. So…” Jake states and retrieves a small box to present to Heeseung. He slowly opens it himself. He witnesses Heeseung’s shining bambi eyes full of anticipation which sends a sudden twitch on his stomach, touched on how Heeseung always remains precious to him for whatever he does.
“Wow. That’s cute! A couple necklace!” Heeseung remarks as he finds the gift and what Jake is wearing are similar.
“Oh and my initials as well!” He adds.
“Happy anniversary!” Jake greets. He gestures the older to come closer so he can place it to him. Heeseung doesn’t hesitate to lean forward. Jake avoids his gaze because if he doesn’t, he might freak out due to their proximity. After locking them, he pats Heeseung’s shoulder to lean back, signaling it’s done, which the latter doesn’t do.
“Happy anniversary too!” Heeseung whispers, face is still near to Jake. His voice is filled with romance which keeps Jake’s butterflies roaming. Jake looks him in the eye, both waiting for each other’s next move.
Jake musters up his courage and plants a quick peck on Heeseung’s lips.
“Thank you and I love you!” Jake whispers after parting their lips, shy for initiating their very first kiss — or a peck rather — leaving Heeseung shocked.
But the point is, it is the first time their lips met! The quick peck seems not enough for Heeseung, so he initiates the next move.
Heeseung closes the distance between them again and lets his lips touch Jake’s. Longer and more passionate kiss this time. Jake doesn’t fight back and decides to encircle his arms around Heeseung’s nape, keeping their lips in collision as he feels his chain necklace. Heeseung hooks his hand around Jake’s petite waist while the other guides the back of his head. This first kiss is the last and the least on Jake’s thoughts for today’s anniversary. But he doesn’t argue with his mind anymore because he loves this intimacy — him being connected to Heeseung.
They pause, both are gasping for air. Heeseung stares at him for a moment before cupping Jake’s cheeks and proceeds to another round of kissing, not wasting a single second. This time, Jake slightly opens his mouth, permitting the taller to taste him. He hardly breathes but that’s okay. Their tongues are fighting for domination. The intensity increases and the sound they produce becomes louder. The groans between their kisses make them long for more intimacy.
Jake places his hands at the back of Heeseung’s head, gently stroking his hair. The latter decides to lay Jake down — Heeseung being above his lover, trapping him. The mess continues with louder groans. Jake slides his hands down to his lover’s broad back, slightly scratching it.
Heeseung pauses kissing him and starts plotting quick pecks on Jake’s forehead, nose, cheeks, and jaw. When he reaches his neck, Jake giggles and becomes noisier. With the help of his tongue and teeth, Heeseung starts sucking Jake’s neck with his aggressive licking and biting. Jake returns his hold to his lover’s hair and tightens the grip from time to time. Their movements are simultaneous but remain telepathic.
Heeseung goes back on sucking Jake’s lips, which Jake immediately accepts. He holds Heeseung’s back again, but this time sliding down to his behind. His eyes furrow when he feels something hard on Heeseung’s slack pocket.
A box? A present for me too? Jake wonders and becomes more excited about his thoughts — feeling touched by receiving an anniversary present too.
Heeseung stops when he feels Jake’s hand on his behind. For a moment, Heeseung himself decides to retrieve the thing from his pocket to remove Jake’s curiosity.
Jake is surprised while Heeseung regrets what he did, afraid of scaring the younger.
Dumb, Heeseung. He thought.
Jake stares at the box which looks unused as its transparent wrapper is still intact.
A condom.
Heeseung looks down with an unsure smile. He feels nervous. His skin suddenly becomes conscious of how cool his room is even though his sweats keep on dripping down his chest as seen by his half-buttoned polo.
Jake smirks and holds Heeseung’s chin up so he can face him. He wants to vanish Heeseung’s tension (and embarrassment) so he only shakes his head and smirks to tease him — his sign of assurance and permission.
Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Jake teases him, head shaking. He pulls Heeseung closer by his hair to kiss him again. Their lips are on another passionate collision. Heeseung drops the condom on the mattress and focuses on Jake’s taste.
Morning comes and they find themselves in each other’s arms. Both are topless and in boxers sharing one blanket. A knock on Heeseung’s door wakes them up.
“Hyung!” It’s Sunoo. Jake rushingly wears his shirt before slightly opening the door, small enough to peek. He sees Sunoo already in his uniform so he assumes he has classes today.
“Oh, hello!” Jake greets, voice is husky due to being overworked last night… overwork in bed.
“The notes hyung!” Sunoo reminds which snaps Jake of reality. He rushes to his bag to get the promised handouts for the younger. He opens the door again and hands it to Sunoo who grabs them immediately.
“I don’t want to bother you two last night. I went here for the handouts after I ate my dinner. But, I heard you moaning so loud from this door.” Sunoo teases, chuckling, which makes Jake’s cheeks turn red. Heeseung slightly gets up on his bed as he overheard their conversation.
“I don’t want to interrupt my hyungs.” Sunoo adds teasingly.
“Oh… that…” Jake can’t find any excuses.
“I’m just reminding you that our walls are thin!” Sunoo cuts Jake’s stuttering. The latter fully shuts the door out of embarrassment.
“Go now! You’re late!” Jake panics as he leans against the door. He can feel that Sunoo is smirking outside as he bids his last goodbye. But Jake notices that somebody is also smirking from the inside. Heeseung is grinning after indirectly hearing good feedback about how great he was to Jake last night. Jake rolls his eyes at him and rushes to the bathroom.
Sunoo walks along the hallway to exit their floor. He enters the elevator, mind is laughing about his hyungs. “Thank god, Hoonie is very gentle to me.” He smirks.
