Why is Our Teacher in the Kitchen?

Summary:

Katsuki runs into someone very unexpectedly in Deku's kitchen.

Notes:

This was inspired by the Tik Tok sound-

"He looks at me
and I look at him
and he looks at me.."

Work Text:

“You’re sure it’s okay if I sleepover?”

“Yeah. My mom never cares.” Deku said as he pulled out his phone. The blue light illuminated his face. “I texted her, but she didn’t respond. She must be asleep.”

Katsuki looked up at the sky. You couldn’t see any stars because of all the city lights. The night was pleasant, even though it was a little muggy. Normal for the end of June. They walked side by side down the quiet street. Most of the lights were off in the houses they passed, and no cars drove by. It was almost one in the morning.

“We’ll just have to be extra quiet when we sneak in.” Deku stifled a yawn.

“Whatever. I’m ready to crash.” Katsuki grunted as he readjusted the strap of his duffle bag. His shoulders were feeling sore.

“Do you want me to carry that for you?” Deku asked. “It was a hard week.”

A hard week was an understatement. They had just spent the last seven days at their second summer training camp. Mr. Aizawa had pushed them harder than he ever had before. Katsuki thought he might actually kill them this time.

“Naw, I’m fine,” Katsuki said.

Deku was staring at him with a look of concern on his face. It was cute. Katsuki grimaced. He hated when Deku looked at him like that.

“Oi. Stop making that stupid face.” Katsuki elbowed Deku in his side. He stumbled a few steps sideways and glared at Katsuki.

“I’m sorry, Kaccan , I forgot you never need anyone’s help ’cause you are so strong,” Deku said in a sing-song voice.

Katsuki chose to ignore Deku’s mocking tone and simply said, “That’s right.” This earned him a dramatic eye roll.

Katsuki couldn’t believe he had been dating this nerd for six months.

They had successfully snuck in. The apartment was dark when Deku unlocked the front door. They hurried to Deku’s room. It was pretty bare since most of his stuff was in the dorm. But there was still an obscene amount of All Might memorabilia. Katsuki would have made fun of the nerd, but he was too fucking tired.

Katsuki wanted to sleep. He did, but all he could do was stare at Deku’s stupid Golden Age All Might poster. Maybe it was the nerd’s snoring keeping him up or the fact that this futon was fucking uncomfortable. Whatever the reason, he couldn’t fall asleep.

He signed and decided to go to the kitchen for some water. He stayed quiet, not wanting to wake Deku or his mom. The kitchen was dark. Katsuki eased open the cabinet to grab a cup. Then he heard a door open and footsteps. Maybe he had woken Deku up. He turned to make a crack about the snoring but froze.

This must be a dream. He must still be asleep in Deku’s room. Because it couldn’t be…

All Might was standing on the other side of the kitchen. He was wearing pajama pants and an old t-shirt. Clearly, he had just gotten out of bed.

They both just stared. All Might’s mouth open slightly in surprise. Katsuki had turned to stone, his mind blank.

All Might was the first to speak. “W- what are you doing here?”

The question shook Katsuki out of his shock, so he went on the defensive.

“What am I doing here?” Katsuki was barely able to keep his voice down. “What the fuck are you doing here?

Why was All Might here? Did he come out of Deku’s mom’s room? Where they… The realization crashed over Katsuki.

OH

MY

GOD

Katsuki was going to be sick.

“Shouldn’t you be at training camp?” All Might hastily asked his voice about an octave higher than usual.

It took Katsuki a moment to find his voice. “We got sent home a day early. A pipe burst and-”

“Kacchan? Who are you talking to…” Deku trailed off. He stood in the doorway, eyes flicking between them. He blinked several times and rubbed his eyes. “What? I, um... All Might, why are you in my kitchen? Is something wrong?”

Of course, that’s where the nerd’s mind goes first. It was going to take him a second to catch up.

“No, nothing is wrong, young Midoriya.” All Might reassured.

Deku’s eyebrows knitted together. “Then what are you doing here?”

All Might shifted his weight from one foot to the other and fidgeted with the hem of his shirt. “You see, I um…”

“We’re together, Izuku.” Inko appeared at All Might’s shoulder. She pulled her robe around her and folded her arms.

“What?! Since when?” Deku basically yelled. Surprising the whole room with his tone. A tone that was normally reserved for Katsuki.

“Now, there is no reason to react like that.” Inko scolded.

“Then how the fuck am I suppose to react to this?”

Katsuki choked. He had heard Deku curse before, but he never thought he would curse at his own mom. Not even Katsuki dared to curse at the old hag.

Inko’s face darkened, but when she spoke, she was polite as ever. Somehow that was even more terrifying. Katsuki and All Might both averted their eyes out of fear.

“There are some things I need to discuss with my son privately. Please, excuse us.”

Inko grabbed Deku’s arms and led him back to his room. The door clicked closed. Leaving Katsuki and All Might to stare at each other again. They could faintly hear the heated “discussion.”

The awkwardness in the kitchen was going to strangle Katsuki.

All Might broke first and asked, “So, um, how was the training camp?”

“I am not talking about that right now,” Katsuki hissed.

All Might look around the dark kitchen, trying to think of something to say.

“You know I didn’t think you and Deku were the type.”

Katsuki stopped breathing.

“The sleepover type, I mean.”

“Oh.” Relief washed over Katsuki. All Might wasn’t making an off-handed comment about their relationship. He didn’t even know about them. The nerd was waiting for the right time to tell him or something. “Um, my parents are out of town, so Deku said I could crash here.”

“That was very thoughtful of him.”

Katsuki only grunted in response.

They passed the rest of the agonizing minutes until Inko returned in silence. Katsuki was dismissed, so he hurried back to Deku’s room. He leaned against the door and took a deep breath, unknotting the tension in his chest. Deku was lying face down on his bed. He didn’t look up when Katsuki turned off the lights and laid back down on the floor. Deku didn’t say anything, so neither did Katsuki. He simply took Deku’s hand that was hanging off the side.

Katsuki never did get his water.

Something was poking him . Katsuki 's eyes flew open. He blinked up at Deku, who was peering at him over the side of the bed.

“Do you think I overreacted last night?” Deku asked, his eyes wide with regret. He looked like he hadn’t gotten much sleep.

Katsuki signed and weighed how honest to be with his boyfriend. He settled on totally.

“Yeah.” Katsuki shrugged. “You kinda freaked out. It’s not really a big deal.”

Deku narrowed his eyes at him. “So it would be no big deal if All Might was dating your mom?”

Katsuki grimaced. “Okay, fine. It is weird.”

Deku rolled onto his back and stared at the ceiling. “I should apologize, though. I was rude.”

“I don’t think you need to.”

“I know you don’t believe in apologies.”

“Just do better.” Katsuki sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He never got why people had to talk about their feelings so much.

Deku ran his hand through Katsuki’s hair. Katsuki ignored the warm feeling that caused in his chest and frowned at the nerd over his shoulder.

“You know, you’re such a fanboy. I would have thought you would want All Might to be your new dad.”

Deku smacked him in the face with a pillow.

Once dressed, they made their way to the kitchen. Katsuki half-expected All Might to have left in the middle of the night, but no. His teacher was sitting at his boyfriend’s kitchen table drinking a cup of tea. Inko was pouring herself a cup but looked up as the boys entered. Before Katsuki could even take two steps toward his chair, Deku bent to ninety degrees.

“I apologize for my attitude last night,” Deku said, still bowing low.

Katsuki rolled his eyes and took his seat. The adults seemed more taken with the apology.

“It’s fine, my boy.”

“Thank you, Izuku.”

Finally, they settled into breakfast. Katsuki stayed focused on his food while everyone else tried to make small talk. He knew Deku and All Might well enough to know they were putting on a front. Forcing a friendly conversation like this wasn’t weird. Luckily, Katsuki was saved by his phone pinging. He had a text from his mom.

Old Hag

Sorry, brat

What? Why?

He’s dating Inko

Lol very funny

Wait, you’re joking right?!

??

Katsuki??

I’m not joking

The three dots appeared then disappeared. Suddenly, Inko’s phone was ringing. She answered.

“Hey, Mitsuki-” Katsuki could hear his mother cut Inko off from across the table. Inko quickly excused herself. Katsuki smiled to himself. He knew Inko was getting an ear full from his mom. Payback for having to see his teacher in pajamas.

Katsuki turned his attention back to the table. Deku was now explaining all the finer points of the training camp. More comfortable than before.

“... and Kacchan has this new ultimate move that-” as Deku rambled on, he placed his hand over Katsuki’s on the table. Deku didn’t seem to notice he was holding Katsuki’s hand. All Might simply glanced down and then back at Deku. It took another five minutes for Deku to realize what he was doing. He stopped mid-sentence, but All Might leaned forward and asked.

“And w about that new move you showed me at the end of term? Master it yet?”

Deku blinked several times. “Um, yeah, I think I almost have it down.”

The conservation carried on, and Deku didn’t let go of Katsuki’s hand. Katsuki was glad that coming out to All Might had been so easy. Simple. They didn’t need all these stupid words. And the nerd didn’t even cry. Katsuki was impressed.

It was short-lived.

Deku cried ten minutes after breakfast.
