Law was hungry. But the goddamn fridge was locked. Why was there a lock on the goddamn fridge? He groaned out of hunger, lying on the infirmary bed in the Sunny. All he wanted to do was make a fucking small meal for himself before the Strawhat’s godforsaken fixated mealtimes. Law did not feel particularly good at that day like most days while sailing with the Strawhats so far to Dressrosa.
But now he just wanted food.
. . .
Sanji couldn’t find Torao. Where was he? He was going to miss dinner. Torao could be anywhere, just hoped the fucker didn’t jump ship while – wait did he? “Hey Zoro did you see Torao anywhere today?”
“No, I haven’t, he doesn’t normally eat much does he?”
No bite back from the swordsman, just a genuine question in fellow concern for the Surgeon of Death… Sanji would hate to admit it but the guy didn’t seem that bad once you got to know him, he was creepy, but yeah he was rather intelligent and he was pleasant to talk to. “Zoro… Do you trust Torao?”
“A little bit more than before,” The swordsman yawned as he stretched to get up to head to the dining hall. “I think I hear something from the infimar – “
“Hey is someone hurt? Anyone in the infirmary?! Oh no! Torao!”
Chopper’s feet scurried across the lawn of the Sunny. Caesar had been kept in the Aquarium Bar as it was going to storm that evening. They couldn’t keep the fucker out all night as much as they wanted to. He was currently eating there. “Dammit he didn’t eat breakfast or lunch again did he?!” The reindeer squeaked.
What? How on Earth did Sanji miss that? He felt guilty, it had been three days since they were travelling together, usually Sanji would’ve memorized a new cremate by now’s patterns and routines. He memorized the clown-bastard. Or rather, the bastard Clown freak had warmed up to the idea of being fed by the Strawhats, despite being their prisoner. The plate of food would be empty and he would huff and Sanji didn’t ask for any goddamn preferences but the Clown didn’t complain about getting sick.
So, that was fine. The guy was dead-meat when he got to Dressrosa anyway. As much as the Surgeon of Death’s methods of keeping someone captive was unsettling to Sanji, he didn’t disagree with feeding Caesar as long as the Clown Scientist had accepted it. Sanji and Zoro rushed to the infirmary (no real idea why Zoro was following)(Luffy might have eaten everything at the table by now dammit!).
Torao was crying. “Hey, come on you’ll feel better after you eat.”
“Leave me alone.”
What was the Surgeon of Death crying about. Marimo had the decency to turn his head away so he wouldn’t be a gawker- but Sanji just kept on blankly staring. The damn piece of grass had twisted Sanji’s wrist and grunted to remind the blonde chef not to stare. “Oi,” Marmimo whispered. “Luffy’s gonna eat everything before – “
“Then I’ll make more.”
Sanji moved gently over to the bed as if his legs were on autopilot. He had been in Trafalgar’s position once, when he was a teenager on the Baratie. Zeff had attempted to comfort him but it had gone in vain. Sanji had just cried it out. No one had ever comforted Sanji in his breakdowns. “Blue,” All Blue was all he could think of. Chopper and Zoro jerked.
Trafalgar took a breathing, flexing breath. His body moved inwardly – “Green, what’s commonly green,”
“Oi – “
“I’m not talking to you Marimo.”
“… Grass. Sky is blue. Sea is blue.”
“Purple. What’s purple.”
“… Lavender. Lilac roses. Eggplant.”
Sanji burst out laughing. “What?” Law looks up.
“My father had this stupid nickname, it’s dumb,” Sanji ran his fingers through his hair, Chopper’s nose twitched in confusion.
Zoro snorted.
“Eggplant.”
“… What are you doing, Blackleg-ya?”
“Making sure you get to the damn dining room before Luffy eats everything and if he does I’ll make more. Kay? Wanna talk about what you saw just now? Describe a color, to me,”
“Red.”
“Red meaning what?”
“Blood.”
Not good.
“Okay. That’s good enough. Your stomach must feel pretty nauseous from a sight like that, how about some soup and Onigiri and Salmon again?” Sanji smiled softly.
… “Sure. Thank you, Blackleg-ya.” Law managed to smile and uncurl himself from the tight position and relax some on the bed.
“For what? We’re allies and no one goes hungry on this ship.”
Law opened his mouth to speak but Sanji flicked the guy’s temple and Law winced.
“Seaking meat Onigiri or Salmon Roe?”
… “Seaking meat, if you don’t mind.”
“Kay. Come on Marimo. The food’s probably gone by now, Chopper you got enough to eat? I can make you more,”
“Yeah I got enough I’ll stay here in the meantime.” Chopper grinned and Law huffed to know his protests against the little reindeer doctor would be proven fruitless.
“Thank you… Chopper. Your crew is kind.”
“Yeah don’t mention it asshole. Just let them take care of you.”
The Strawhats were certainly something else. But Law couldn’t wait to get back to his own crew.
