Just me and you, and the ocean of course.

Summary:

What would happen if Sorbet met Squid Ink at the beach in the middle of the night?

Notes:

English is not my first language, so I'm sorry if there are some mistakes.
I want Squid Ink and Sorbet Shark fluff, help.
This is my first time posting here, haha.
EDIT: I realized that I mixed two different ideas.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Sorbet Shark spent most of their day at the beach, and also in the ocean. They didn't know, or... Well, they didn't remember why this day felt so special.
They only knew that they needed to find that squid. It was weird to not see them for the whole day like they never existed. Also, nobody knew anything about where Squid Ink could be.

At first, they thought it was gonna be easy, like how hard was to spot a black squid in a blue ocean?
Easier said than done.

No matter how much they searched, the quest became more and more difficult. They tried to find something shiny and find a good place to show it, maybe Squid Ink could see the object. Of course, they found something that looked valuable.
One part is done, now the place.

The corals, not a good place.
A lot of fish.

An open part of the ocean?
Quite in the middle of nowhere.

no.

No.

NO.

NO.

No matter where Sorbet went, there was always something.

. . .

Without noticing, the morning turned to night or afternoon.
The good part was the fact of finding a lot of good things.

'' Where they could be? '' asked for nothing. With a sigh, they went out of the water.

When they grew up, their scales became more noticeable, and also a tail came out. The other cookies thought the chance of Sorbet being sick, yes, some weird-ass illness that turns cookies into a fucking fish.
Their teeth are now more pointy and strong, and amazingly now they can talk properly in the land, no more bubbly sounds.

After gathering everything they found, they were about to head home, but their eye saw something or someone there. It was Squid Ink.

Leaving the treasures behind, they ran to the other, who was too lost staring at the ocean to notice someone running towards them.

'' Squid Ink! '' they shout and opened their arms to catch the squid in a hug.

Everything was too fast, Squid Ink couldn't process but melted in the hug anyway.

'' What...? '' they murmured oblivious to everything that happened.

'' I've been searching for you the whole day! '' they answered pulling out of the hug before hugging the other in a millisecond.

'' It's ok, I'm ok '' they said calmly with a slight smile. '' I waited for you here, since this morning... I didn't know you were searching for me ''.

'' Why were you waiting for me? '' the shark asked very confusedly.

'' Just wanted to see you... '' they confessed with a sigh at the end.

In a moment, a slight melody started playing, the ocean, the moon, the stars, the beach, the palm trees, everything was alive, more than ever.

They could feel it.

The moon shone over them, and only for them.

The stars sang in little twinkles, gentle words.

The ocean collided with the rocks, happy to meet again their solid friends.

The leaves of the palm trees sway to the beat of the wind, playing and laughing.

Taking courage, Sorbet gently grabbed Squid Ink's hand, feeling every breath, every sensation, a little spark when their fingers intertwined.

'' Care to dance? '' the shark shyly asked as they wagged their tail with slight movements.

'' But... I don't know how... '' the squid answered looking down.

'' Me neither but... We can try! '' Sorbet was enthusiastic with the idea of dancing, but they'll respect if the other didn't want to.

'' I think we can... '' they smiled, feeling the courage their very first love felt.

Sorbet guided their other hand to Squid Ink's waist, while the little and still sobbing squid put their 'hand' in the shark's shoulder. Little steps, soft movements, and giggles when they accidentally stepped on each other's feet.

Everything seemed what a fantasy novel would tell, feather-light steps, the calm noise of the sea, the cold sand under their feet, the amazing night behind.

Nothing else matters.

It's just them, and no one else.

When they ended their special dance. They looked at each other.

For the first time in ages, Squid Ink felt how their tears stopped.

The moonlight gave them a divine aspect, such a little, vulnerable, and cute marine creature. The shark could only flush deep red, they were so near. They could feel the other's breath.

Both of them craved for it.

How many times did they lie to themselves?

Ignoring the desire of being in the other's arms.

How many nights did they spend dreaming about the other?

Trying to suffocate every thought.

How many times did they wait for a moment like this? Just them and nobody else.

Without realizing their lips met, savoring the taste of the sea, too much and not enough. An innocent kiss, yearning for affection, showing how much they adored every little moment they spent together.

Those endless nights looking at the stars.

Those sunny days imagining how life in the land would be.

Those hazy days they would remember.

Happiness was truly something.

. . .

'' I love you... '' was everything they said.

Sorbet made a bubbly sound in embarrassment, their face burning red. Squid Ink giggled at this and kissed them on the cheek.

'' For how long you liked me? '' the shark asked as they walked by the beach.

'' I don't remember... But I can assure you it has been for a long time... '' they simply answered, having their eyes staring at the sand.

'' Wait- Uhmm, stay here! '' after that, they rushed towards a bag and then returned with it.

'' What's that...? '' Squid Ink asked while analyzing the bag and wondering what it could have.

After seconds of suspense, Sorbet grabbed something. it was a shiny object, clearly valuable.

'' You like it? '' they asked, already knowing the answer.

It was like a gem, or a rock, golden, not so big nor small. Squid Ink took it from Sorbet's hand with one of their tentacles. Since they grew up, their peculiar behavior towards shiny things improved a lot.

'' Can I-? '' before finishing, they were interrupted.

'' Keep it? Of course you can! '' the shark said with a smile.

'' Thank you '' the squid returned the gesture.

They decided to rest, sitting on the sand, staring at the endless ocean.

'' What are we now? '' the squid muttered.

'' What do you want us to be? '' the shark asked while keeping their eyes in the waves.

'' A couple... '' they replied, closing their eyes as they fell asleep.

'' I'd like that '' the shark murmured before slipping into the land of dreams.
