Sasuke has known Naruto for years.
He remembers the first time he met Naruto. It was during summer. Not long after his 10th birthday.
He remembers blinding yellow or would he say spun gold.... 'goldilocks' his brothers boyfriend calls him..... spun gold catching the sunlight running right by him.
Sasuke stared, his eyes following the boy whose face he wishes to see so much, his legs already taking him to the park where the boy is, before his brain realized how socially inept he is.
The boy turned sharply, eyes so blue that he doesn't know how to describe met his dark dark ones.
He found out his name was Uzumaki Naruto and he lives right across his house.
An hour and half later he was getting punched by said boy and he found himself in a tumble of limbs trying to one up each other.
"Are you really that stupid dobe" Sasuke asked a smug smirk on his face, when he saw Naruto frown and stand up pointing at him a loud TEME!!!! which got them kicked out of the library, this happened at age 12.
He was supposed to teach Naruto the basic maths like he has been doing for the past two years, and Sasuke is proud to say he is the only one who is capable of teaching an idiot.
They sulkily walk home together, Naruto chattering about Iruka throwing away his ramen, which Sasuke hn'd at.
"Hey Teme" Naruto started, hands folded at the back of his head, smile on his face.
"Hn"
"Do you wanna sleep over today"
"Sure" he replied stopping in front of Naruto's house, he really doesn't mind they have been having enemy sleepovers since they were eleven.
Sasuke has always been popular, girls always tend to flock to him in a herd, sometimes guys too heck he was irritated by the fact he has his own fan girl club which Naruto was jealous of for a reason.
By highschool, Sasuke could not take his eyes of Naruto, yes yes the petty fight and the teasing and insults didn't change. They were still Sasuke and Naruto or Naruto and Sasuke. The both of them names are never not together in a sentence. When one is said the other name follows.
Most didn't understand the bond between the both of them with their constant fighting but their close knit of friends (which Sasuke thinks are too much) always tries to explain to others it's their foreplay and later give up when they don't understand.
To be honest he didn't expect to have friends but Naruto was having none of that. When they were thirteen he had Shikamaru has his nonchalant comrade, from there on it increased in size and attitude, he had friends who could actually tell him to shut up. He was shocked. Ino and Sakura said it wasn't a good look on him, which made Kiba and Neji laugh cause those where the type of friends Naruto and he keeps. The ones with attitude and foolishness.
Getting detention for punching a guy that leered at Naruto body and talked about tapping his ass on the first day of their second year of highschool was worth it.
Coming out of said detention with Naruto waiting out front for him made his heart beat faster than usual when Naruto was around. Even though Naruto said he waited cause Sasuke is his ride home he knew he was lying cause he could have easily taken the bus. He hn'd anyways.
It was later in the middle of the school year he realizes he goes grocery shopping for Naruto.
He looks at the grocery list and smiled at the message written down 'Don't you fucking forget my cup ramen' then a smiling emoji with spiky hair.
He remembers seeing the handwriting for a while but it didn't ever click until today.
Naruto always forgets his house key since they were in middle school, he started staying at Sasuke's after school until Iruka picks him up. Now in highschool and Naruto doesn't even try to remember taking his keys, Sasuke's house has become routine.
He cooks lunch for them and takes Sasuke's bed has his own, takes half of Sasuke's clothe has his and half the contents of the fridge was Naruto's. Sasuke doesn't mind, he is his bestfriend.
He remembers Itachi's face when Naruto called him aniki for the first time, he beamed, Itachi evil mastermind extraordinary, the devil in disguise actually smiled and immediately accepted Naruto has is future brother-in-law. Same goes to Deidara Itachi's boyfriend who actually let Naruto touch his hair while they both talk about which porridge is just right. They dubbed themselves goldilocks senior and goldilocks junior. They are both stupid anyways.
At the end of their second year of highschool Naruto and Sasuke had a full blown fight. At first everyone thought it was going to turn out normal, they fight all the time, but they slowly started to realize it wasn't mending back.
Naruto doesn't talk back to him, no teasing, no fighting, Naruto didn't ride with him anymore, he didn't forget his keys too, he fucking didn't cook lunch for them anymore, heck his ugly handwriting wasn't even on the grocery list, no irritatingly sweet snack in their house.
It didn't feel right to anyone. What the fuck was going on. Their friends were perplexed they didn't understand, the school was confused, Itachi and Deidara came to a conclusion that it was his fault.
A month before graduation, (that is Naruto avoided him like the plague for eight month) Naruto knocked on the Uchiha's door by 9:32pm which was opened by a bored looking Itachi whose face changed to a little smile. A voice inside the house asking who it was Deidara later coming into view of Naruto, eyes widened in shock, before he broke the boy bones.
Sasuke followed Naruto out to the park they first met, strolling at a casual pace with Naruto chatting about whatever that came to his mind. Sasuke didn't respond at all just focusing on the moon illuminating Naruto has a whole.
When they finally reached the park, Naruto didn't say anything for two minutes.
"How are you bastard?"
"Usuratonkachi" was Sasuke's reply a smile gracing his face since a long while. He loves Naruto.
"You know....." Naruto took a deep breath, standing up and walking to the swing "I missed you so fucking much" he finally completed sitting on the swing and pushed himself off.
Sasuke didn't say anything, he balled his hands in fist ready to punch the idiot that just left him hanging "Then why the hell did you cut me off"
"You were a distraction" Naruto didn't see the punch coming but he felt it and he immediately stood up punching Sasuke back square on the face.
They fought, that was one of the language they understood very well, punching, kicking, cussing each other. It took them a while to get it out of their system falling unto the grass beside each other.
They took in big gulps of air, trying to catch their breath.
"Why?" Sasuke asked, he really wanted to know why he was suddenly dubbed a distraction and why he suffered for eight months being ignored by Naruto, why he still waited for this day.
Naruto opened and closed his mouth thrice before the words came out "I was angry, when you told me you were planning on going abroad to study, I knew you had ambitions but I just didn't know it involved you leaving" a sob racked out of Naruto throat. Sasuke stared, hand unconsciously going to Naruto to pull him into a hug
"I was so angry Sas, then I was sad, I couldn't believe you were going to leave, I didn't want you to leave not at all, I did not want to be alone, I need you" Naruto said wiping his tears on Sasuke shirt without remorse
"You could have told me this, I would've gone to a university here in Tok....." Sasuke was cut off by Naruto
"No, no that's exactly why I didn't tell you, you have dreams Sasuke and I didn't want you to level any one to my size" Naruto breathed heavily inhaling Sasuke scent at the same time
"So I decided to try and lift myself up, I asked Itachi the school you were planning on attending and I decided to cut you off. For aiming to reach you, you were going to be a distraction" Naruto smiled
"I was so used to our routine I still mess it up, I always wait for Iruka at the backyard, still forget my keys"
"I knew you were a dobe" Sasuke scoffed
"Teme!!!"
They both laughed for a while. Yes, this was them.
Naruto suddenly stood up pulling out two letters from his jacket and threw them at Sasuke "they both came in the mail, I haven't opened them yet, I want you to know I tried all I could"
Sasuke opened one from a university not too far from the one he got admission too.
He smiled when he saw it was an acceptance letter, he told Naruto just that.
Then he picked up the one with his school insignia and opened it, reading the contents he laughed 'fuck his dobe was a wonderful person'
"You got accepted on a sport scholarship" Sasuke said smiling, he couldn't believe it, fuck he loves this idiot.
Naruto eyes welled up with tears, he can't believe it "You know, I don't ever want to leave you," he sucked in a breath, hand on his chest "bestfriend for life"
"Companions forever" Sasuke said has Naruto jumped on him and pulled him into a hug.
Graduation was a pleasant day for all of them.
College was exciting, him and Naruto were roommates, they fought a lot, they finally got together and told their friends who decided it was a cause for celebration and got drunk by themselves in Japan.
Kakashi and Itachi didn't even try to act surprised at the news, but Iruka and Deidara made up for it.
Getting together was no easy feat, Naruto was a hopeless idiot and Sasuke suffers it.
Now they are back in Japan, Sasuke working with his brother in their companies, trying to expand it into a conglomerate at the age of 24.
Naruto is a footballer and he was exceptionally good at it. Now in their home in Japan, Sasuke was waiting for his lover to come home. He smiled at the word lover, gods he was whipped.
The door to their home swung open, feet shuffling, finally the shining spun gold coming into view, blue eyes sasuke still can't describe, met his onyx own has Naruto smiled launching himself at his boyfriends opened arms.
"I'm home" Naruto said coming up for air after their intense make out session.
"Welcome home" Sasuke whispered diving back to capture Naruto lips.
They were enemies, they were friends, they were bestfriends, they were companions, they were roommates, and now they are lovers.
