Work Text:

Marinette slowly but surely moved forward, putting more distance between her and her friends. She had to make sure to look at her feet, because the stones were slippery and once her feet got wet, it would be a challenge to walk fast anyway.

Being out in the open, the fresh air filling her lungs, after the long trip was the best feeling. So was being rid of the sticky clothes and free to enjoy the breeze on her skin. When she neared the waterfall, she was almost too tempted to jump straight into the water to cool off.

But she had another mission first.

Even without looking over her shoulder, she knew that Adrien was following her. Not close enough to make it seem like they were sneaking away together, but close enough to keep an eye on her. She could feel his eyes dancing on her bare skin from where the bathing suit straps fastened on the back of her neck to her feet, now splashing in shallow water.

She paused only for a second to admire the waterfall’s cascade, impressive without making a thunderous noise. Then she moved to the side, to where the water met the rock but there was a small passage that led behind the cascade to a hollow cavern.

Ever so careful, Marinette went there and waited. She was in no way prepared for Adrien to join her acting like an overexcited puppy which had gotten itself wet and wanted to shake off the water.

“What did you do?” She exclaimed as drops danced on to her skin.

“The water was too tempting not to take a dip,” he grinned, his wet hair sticking out. She shook her head, smiling affectionately at him. No matter how much they grew up, he still acted like a child and this was something that both got on her nerves and made her love him even more.

“Come here,” she said, opening her arms to him. She barely noticed the wet skin sliding against hers, cool against hot, because this was also when their lips met and this bliss occupied her mind fully.

Pretending that they were not a couple while they were with their friends was a never ending challenge. But when they were like this, somewhere private, as if cut off from the rest of the world, just him and her, lost in each other, it was the best thing in the world.

“Remind me to bring you here on my own next time,” Adrien murmured against the skin of her neck. His wet hair tickled her, but she didn’t mind.

“Why?”

“So that I have no qualms about taking this off you,” he said, his voice teasing, as he pulled at the straps.

Her laughter rang in the enclosed space as he looked up at her, a dangerous glint in his eyes.

“Next time, kitty,” she reminded him. “We better get back to the others before they start worrying that we’ve drowned.”

“Oh alright,” he sighed, pulling her to him one more time. “I love you, m’lady,” he whispered before his lips found hers again. Marinette melted into him. A few more seconds wouldn’t hurt anyway. They never did. As long as they were careful.
