Chapter 1: Runaway Queen

Chapter Text

Credits: This is inspired by A Vampire’s Need by mitsuki1313 and Crimson Charm by TanukiRaccoon but written in the Bug Love AU with a healthy dose of mpreg of course. Just in case you’re wondering why this story feels familiar.

This will be a short one, maybe around two or three chapters (finger’s crossed because I’m bad at finishing my stories and I’m feeling guilty as it is)

Naruto winced as he tried to quiet the multitude of voices in his head. It had been weeks since he ran away from the Uchiha’s manor. And a twinge of guilt gnawed at him. Because despite his reasons, he was treated extremely well.

Mikoto was the mother he never knew he wanted and Sasuke have been working hard to make up for his overzealous appetite that ended in his death at the hands of the vampire. Every day spent in that house was heaven and Sasuke made sure that everything he needs are met. Even the things he doesn’t necessarily need are provided, no expense spared. Indeed, being the soulmate to the next Lord of the House Uchiha and its clans have its perks it seems.

Everywhere he goes, the vampires of the compound respected him, which is more than he can say for his previous life as an unwanted orphan. Still, the fact remained that life in that manor felt like a caged bird. He wasn’t allowed to go back to the human world. And he missed enjoying the sun and the wind on his face.

Sasuke reasoned that it’s to protect him. And he’d countered that he’s fine under the sun. He’s later told that his strong resistance is due to him being created from a special strain of queen from Mikoto’s hive and Sasuke’s donor males. Giving him the best of the Uchiha’s vampiric bloodlines.

True enough, he was stronger and faster than the average half-blood, even stronger than natural born vampires but what most of them don’t know is the incessant disarray in his hive mind. He winced again as another demonic chuckle stopped him in his tracks, the voice disrupting the drone flies coursing through his system, causing him to momentarily disintegrate in a cloud of black swarm before regaining his old form.

Transforming is definitely an unsettling feeling, something that despite a month of training under Sasuke and Mikoto, he still can’t get over with. It feels like million creatures itching under his skin, sand being rubbed on his insides every time it happens. But he can’t waver now.

He has to find his next hiding place before his pursuers caught up to him. He needs to find a safe place especially since he hasn’t been feeling well these past few weeks.

“Watch where you’re going, creep!” Naruto’s sapphire eyes caught sight of a homeless person. His stomach rumbled at the sight and while he still doesn’t like the idea of eating humans for survival, he hasn’t eaten in days and his desire for flesh is fighting with his reason and logic. Grinning to himself, he disintegrated into a swarm of black flies before mercilessly attacking the man.

-o-o-o-

Over the coming weeks, I found myself falling deeper and deeper in love with Sasuke. Which is ridiculous because firstly, he tried to eat me and succeeded, the ungrateful bastard. And secondly, he turned me into this… whatever this monstrosity is. I miss my friends. I miss Kiba. I miss jiji. Why did my life turn out like this? If Sasuke has only asked me out at school, without turning me like this, I wonder if life would be so much different for both of us? I mean… I wouldn’t mind dating a vampire. But that doesn’t mean I want to be one. Ugh What am I saying! Being transformed must be getting to me. I need to clear my head. I need to get out of here.

Cold eyes kept reading the journal entry… the last written in the little orange notebook that Naruto always kept with him. But it appeared that in his haste to leave, he left most of his possessions in their shared room.

The same crimson eyes flicked to the frog wallet by the night stand and a deep sigh escaped his lips. He knew that Naruto’s transformation has always unsettled him. But Sasuke genuinely believed that his lover has gotten over it, especially since the bright haired vampire has immersed himself in training mere days after his awakening and during their lovemaking, Naruto had no complaints.

He can’t believe that his lover have been bottling so much animosity towards his undeath. In his mind, being transformed is a gift, a gift that not many mortals were given the privilege-especially since Sasuke himself moved heaven and earth just to bring his lover back. Well, it was his fault to begin with, given that he couldn’t control his lust around the blond but he have apologized for it and made up for it every day since Naruto’s awakening. What more could that dobe really want?

Tossing the journal angrily at their once shared bed, the Uchiha heir mentally summoned his subordinates.

The first to answer was a red haired girl, one of the many villagers transformed by the Uchiha in their earlier days. Her prowess as a healer was valued and have been loyal to the clan since its early days. Her loyalty was reaffirmed when Sasuke rescued her from humans and vampire hunters who’s hell bent on wiping out vampires despite the peace agreement between the clan and the village.

“Yes Sasuke-sama?”

“I grow tire of waiting. Karin. Is there still no news of Naruto?” If it’s possible for a vampire to grow any paler, Karin would have rivaled the white moon that illuminated their compound. There are many times that her team cornered Uzumaki, and every time, the young vampire seemed to always slip by effortlessly. First, they were all hypnotized for 15 minutes, letting Naruto get away in their moment of beguilement. On another occasion, they realized they were chasing a fake double that disintegrated to servitor drones when they moved to apprehend him.

They even went as far as to enlisting the aid of some human mercenaries. And every attempt ended in failure. In some occasions, some humans would refuse to cooperate, as if beguiled by Naruto’s charms, something they found odd especially since in life, they knew that the teen wasn’t exactly popular.

When Karin was silent for a good five minutes, Sasuke slammed his fist on a table, and it crumbled to dust under his fury.

“He’s a damn four months old vampire, Karin! And you call yourself the Taka Hunters? The Uchiha’s elite?” Karin flinched under her superior’s tone. But she knew she had no excuse. She’s a sensor vampire. An elite one at that, able to detect humans and vampires alike in the entirety of Konoha. Yet Naruto still evades her range, even when she concentrated range to extend beyond their borders.

“Now now, Sasuke dear.” Mikoto entered the room. “Don’t be too hard on her. You know as well as I that Naruto-kun is… special. He was sired from your colony and my queen after all. You can’t exactly expect them to subdue Naruto-kun all on their own.”

“And what exactly does that mean mother? Are you saying that only you or I can capture him?”

“Tsk… Capture is such a distasteful word Sasuke. One that you shouldn’t use… especially one pertaining to your mate. But now that you said that, we may not be enough dear. The colony that made up Naruto-kun is far stronger than any I have seen in years. I suspect there’s something more going on with that boy… More so than we realize. Regardless… Naruto-kun has to be… persuaded on his own to come back.”

“Mother…”

“Don’t give me that tone, young man. I know of how you’ve been trying to get him by force these past few weeks. And trust me, I know it’s hard being separated from your mate like this, but force isn’t always the answer dear. Did you even try talking to Naruto?”

Sasuke’s eyes widened. Realizing that his mother have been right. In almost every time, he’s used his vampiric allure or even sex to subdue Naruto. And he had been content that almost every time, the young vampire would bend to his whim. But over time, Sasuke realized that his hold over his lover’s hive mind has lessened somewhat.

“I guess you’re right mother.”

“Now don’t worry, I’m not here just to chastise you, you know. Our human contact have found your mate. This time, don’t scare the poor thing, alright? And for goodness’ sake talk to him properly. There’s some rather… interesting news that I know you’ll enjoy regarding your mate. But you have to promise me that you’ll be gentle with him. Try to control yourself in front of your mate. The poor boy is probably scared and confused.”

“Yes mother.”

Naruto woke up to a warm soft bed. He didn’t even realize he has fallen asleep. What happened to him? He tried to stand up, but a sharp pain shot from the base of his spine. Which is weird, since he’s a vampire now. He’s many things that humans are not. Especially not this fragile weak sweaty mess that lay curled up in this soft bed.

A woman entered the room and his eyes widened in recognition.

“Sakura?”

“Hello, Naruto.”

“How did I end up here?” He asked.

“Cold… Baka. You disappeared on us for months and that’s the first thing you say to me?”

Naruto grimaced. He’s aware of his “death” and his confinement to the Uchiha’s compound. Sakura stepped closer, a smile on her face.

“And the next thing we knew he’s apparently a vampire that almost all of Konoha have been trying to catch.” Naruto’s eyes turned crimson in surprise.

“You knew?”

“I’m a vampire hunter, Naruto.” Sakura stated, pointing a sharp sword to him. “But I’m not so cruel as to kill you… especially since we used to be friends…Well that and you’re pregnant.”

Naruto’s mind froze.

“What? Hold up. What did you just say?”

“We’re still friends you know… Kiba and I still consider you our friend. You don’t have to worry about that. Good thing one of the wolf clan found you when you passed out on that alley. Honestly. Running around in your condition?”

“No.. I mean after that!”

“What? You’re a doofus if you think it’s wise running around from a team of elite trackers and vampire hunters while you’re expecting. But well… what can I say… the class clown will always be the class clown, I guess.” Sakura playfully said, a fond smile on her face as she handed him a blood pack, trying to disarm the wary vampire in front of her.

“Here, you must be hungry. Don’t worry, it’s synthetic blood.”

“Did you just say that I’m… I’m…” Naruto choked, not even wanting to entertain the possibility.

“That you’re pregnant? Yes. Now rest up. You’re mate’s on his way and it’s high time you return to where you’ll receive the help you can get. No human trained doctor can ever treat you properly you know.”

“Sasuke’s coming?” Naruto is in disbelief. His friends sold him out? Really? And Sakura had the gall to call him his friend?

“Yes. Kiba was just on the phone with him and they will be---”

Before Sakura could even finish her sentence, crimson aura blasted from Naruto, soldier flies, fiercer than any she could have seen before emerged from around her, Sakura gasped as she channeled an energy shield in front of her, sensing her friend’s anger as Naruto went into full defense mode.

“YOU, called Sasuke? You? And you still call myself friends?”

“Naruto, be reasonable. You can’t possibly expect to be on the run in your condition. Think of your children.”

“Children?” Crimson eyes narrowed as he digested his friend’s news.

Sakura realized her error as the aura around Naruto intensified. “I’m having what?”

“You’re having triplets, Naruto. Look… Can you just calm down and…”

“The hell--- I was eaten, Sakura! Then I found out that I’m a vampire. And now you’re telling me I’m having triplets. And you want me to calm down? And worst of all, you betrayed me by calling the one person who I wanted to see last, in this moment?” Sakura faltered for a bit, feeling all the rage that Naruto have been bottling since his awakening, but she stood her ground as she maintained her stance.

“He’s the father of your unborn children, Naruto. He deserves to know.”

“No one’s entitled to anything, Sakura. I am not turned into this damned monstrosity to become some kind of breeding machine to even more monstrosities. I’m out of here. And you’re NOT stopping me!”

“You’re not leaving here, Naruto… I promised Sasuke-kun, I’d watch over you and I will fulfill that promise if it kills me.” Sakura looked back, her emerald eyes burning with resolution.

“Why are you even siding with that damn bastard anyway, Sakura? I am leaving here one way or another. Now you’re either my friend… OR MY PREY!” Naruto’s eyes hardened as he sent his soldier flies forward in an attempt to force his way out of this place. But before those flies could even reach her, a black wing shielded her, swatting away Naruto’s insects before entering the room.

“No way!” Naruto whispered as he looked at the man in front of him. He was followed by Suigetsu, Karin and Juugo, who knelt on one knee in front of him.

“Is that what you really think, Naruto? That I wanted to turn you into a monster?”

“Well, I am a monster, bastard. Look at me!”

Sasuke advanced but Naruto was exhausted from his previous outburst that he no longer have the energy to repel him. Sweat started falling down his chin as Sasuke wiped it down tenderly with one finger.

“Naruto…”

“You must be so damn happy to see me like this… Weak… and and..and… vulnerable…” Naruto whispered, tired from his exertion. He couldn’t help it anymore. He fell forward into Sasuke’s chest, leaning onto his broad warm shoulder as his eyes drooped sleepily. It suddenly makes sense. How he’s been feeling unwell over the past few weeks and now he can barely stand up after releasing just one energy blast even after having fed recently.

Sasuke placed a loving hand on the blond hair he missed so much, feeling happy that Naruto didn’t seem to recoil from his touch.

“You’re not a monster Naruto. WE are not monsters, dobe.” Naruto could fall asleep this smooth deep voice alone as he leaned in closer. Sasuke’s shoulders felt like the most comfortable pillow in the world right now. “Please… let me take care of you. You’re the mother of my children.. You’re the love of my life. Please… let’s just go home.” Karin and Suigetsu looked at the exchange in front of them, surprised that their usually ill-tempered leader could be this gentle and soft to another.

“Tsk… smug… bas…tard….I’m not done with you…yet…” Naruto wasn’t able to hold himself any longer. He fell asleep in his mate’s welcoming shoulders. Feeling at home all of the sudden, finding that the voices in his head has calmed down for once and he succumbed to that blissful sleep.

“Karin. Makes sure that Sakura and the others are rewarded well. Juugo, Suigetsu, carry the rest of Naruto’s belongings. We’re coming home.” His servants just nodded. Sasuke repositioned Naruto on his arms and faced Sakura, a grateful smile on his face.

“Thank you for finding him.”

“It’s alright, Sasuke-kun. Naruto’s our friend. He’s just too stubborn to see that being with his mate is what’s best for him and his children right now.”

“Will you come visit us? At the manor? I’m sure Naruto would appreciate his former… human friends around.”

Sakura just smiled. “You don’t even have to ask. And for the record… we’re still his friends you know.”

Sasuke just nodded as he carried his lover in his arms content as Naruto snuggled closer to him in his sleep. As made his way home in silence, only Naruto’s soft snores could fill the dead of the night.

A/N: Oh my… I wanted to make this a one shot but this sort of devolved into… this… So my apologies if you’ll have to wait a little while for the next chapter. At any rate, feel free to tell me what you think. I personally think this deviated a little bit from the main Bug Love concept. But it is what it is. And I guess I’m rolling with it because I’ve been wanting to write something that’s fluffy I guess, but still in keeping with the vampire theme of this world. Not sure if I accomplished that here, but oh well.
