Chapter Text

It's been two weeks since Grogu and Din moved in with Luke and began training. Things started to fall into a rhythm. When Din would get up he would find Luke meditating on the veranda and make himself and Grogu some breakfast. He had offered to make some for the Jedi as well but he declined.

After that, he would return to his room to eat and then wake up Grogu, who enjoyed his meal a lot. Din had learned some cooking since they moved in there so the child could have some variety in his meals.

While he ate Din went outside and waited until Luke was done. "Grogu is awake." The Jedi got up and smiled at him thanking him for the information. "Are you sure you don't want me to make food for you too? It would be no trouble."

"Yeah, I'm alright. Thanks for asking though. I haven't had much of an appetite lately." Luke stood up. "My sister Leia and brother-in-law Han will come to visit us this evening. Sorry for not saying something sooner they sort of surprised me." He smiled apologetically. "If you want to I can still decline."

"No, we're guests here. No need to apologize, this is your home."

"Okay, I just don't want to make you uncomfortable." He put his hand on his shoulder. "Remember if you need anything or anything is bugging you just let me know."

Din took a moment before speaking up. "Let me make you breakfast-"

"It's really-"

"I noticed you haven't been eating lately. Just let me make you breakfast." Din was worried the Jedi had gotten thinner, he didn't quite know what the issue was but couldn't have him starving.

Luke gave him a smile the other couldn't quite interpret. "Okay, thank you." They stared at each other for a few minutes both unsure of what the other was thinking until Luke cleared his throat. "I should probably go get Grogu for today's exercise. Gotta get something done before my family gets here." He went inside.

Din just went to his ship and tinkered with it. I really need some spare parts or a real repair.

When he was done he watched Luke train with Grogu. The Jedi laughed and hugged the kid whenever he did something right. He had been extremely patient with him considering the trauma he must have gone through when his memory went dark. Din felt weirdly warm when he saw him bond with Grogu. It was adorable? He wasn't sure what the right word was but he was just glad to see Grogu happy.

The kid came running up to him when they were done training. "Patuu!" He hugged his leg motioning to him to pick him up. Din obliged, holding him while he played with his necklace.

"He's a great kid. You did a good job."

"I didn't-"

"Just take the compliment," Luke smirked and patted him on the back while walking past him. "I need to start cleaning."

Din was unsure how to react but felt his heart flutter at the sudden compliment.

As the evening rolled around Luke was hurrying around the house cleaning the last few spots. Din was confused having never seen the other like that. "Don't you think you should calm down a bit? Aren't they your family?"

"Yes! That's the problem. They always get so worried about me, especially Leia, we're our only kin."

For some reason this hit Din a little too close to home.

Luke couldn't help but feel that the other was sad. He felt like he was intruding, so he decided to cheer him up without revealing he knew how he felt. "You gonna fit right in! Leia is gonna love you and grogu!"

This surprised and overwhelmed Din. He looked away making Luke regret his words.

Too fast skywalker. You've made him uncomfortable great move. "Sorry didn't mean to make this weird." Luke chuckled awkwardly.

"It's fine."

"I-" the door rang. "That must be them!" He hurried to open the door, relieved to escape the awkwardness, and as soon as he did his nephew ran up to him. "Hey there." Luke kneeled down to hug him. Chuckling he picked him up.

"I can walk." Ben frowned

"I know but I missed you and just wanna hug you." Luke ruffled his hair and pulled him closer, giving him a kiss on the head while his nephew laughed.

"So when are you gonna welcome your dear sister and best friend?" Han joked and was immediately pulled into a hug by Luke who had just set Ben down.

Leia embraced her brother and husband before cupping Luke's face and frowning. "Luke, what did I tell you about sleep and eating?"

"Well, haven't had much time." He heard a familiar growl. "Chewie!" He hugged him. "You guys didn't tell me you would bring Chewie!" He chuckled as the Wookie hugged him almost suffocating him.

"He was a pain in the ass," Han commented. "He wouldn't let us leave without him. Guess he missed you."

"Aww, I missed you too, big guy! Did you bring C3PO, too?"

"No, Lando needed him for some translations but he really wanted to come," Leia noted.

"Well, come in guys I want you to finally meet my new roommates!" He let them in and gestured to Din. "This is the Jedis dad, Din. Grogu is sleeping right now."

"I'm not-" Din stopped himself when he saw Luke's family. His sister was Leia Organa, princess, and leader of the rebellion would have gotten him a new luxury ship during the empire. Not to mention his brother-in-law was Han Solo, man Boba was gonna flip first he lives with the Jedi who had tried to kill him (granted he tried to kill luke first) and now he mingles with Solo. Chewbacca would have gotten him a good price too but his ripped-off arms wouldn't have been worth it. "Eh, pleasure to meet you?" No matter how awkward it had been he couldn't help but feel warm at how much Luke beamed. He seemed so happy and carefree.

Ben hid behind his parents while Leia eyed Din carefully. "You didn't tell me he was a Mandalorian." She took a minute. It was almost as if she was searching for something. Then she just smiled at him. "Nevertheless, it is great to meet you. I'm Leia, Luke's twin sister."

Han just stood there for a moment. "What is this? Do you not remember the Boba Fett incident?" Chewie just seemed to agree with him looking at the Mandalorian in distrust.

"Yes, but this is different. He saved a Jedi and helped him find me."

"You know what just don't do what you always do and stay alarmed." Han sighed throwing his hands in the air knowing there was no arguing with him if he had set his mind to it.

Unbeknownst to them, Ben had sneaked around trying to get his uncle's lightsaber with Luke just noticing and picking him up.

"Hey!"

"What we're you sneaking around for, huh?" Luke smiled at him and if Din was honest seeing the Jedi interact with his nephew made him feel all warm and fuzzy.

"I wanna train with you now! I'm old enough." Ben frowned looking impatient.

Luke just chuckled. "I know. But I've got some things to plan, in 2 months I'll get back to the school and you and the other children can start training. I just got to figure stuff out." While he consoled his nephew Grogu came walking in. "Oh everyone this is Grogu!"

Grogu looked at Din who just gave him a nod.

Ben looked at him. "Cool! Can we go play?"

"I don't know what do you think, Din?" Luke smiled at his roommate.

"Sure. Just be careful."

Luke sat his nephew down. "So how about something to drink?" He was already grabbing some glasses. "Whiskey for Han and Chewie, Wine for Leia, Vodka for me and nothing for Din cause of the helmet right?"

Everyone just nodded and Luke poured the drinks. After they all settled down in the living room they got to talking.

"It's not the same without you. The senators are all wondering when you're coming back." Leia took a sip of her water.

"Like I said 2 months. I already talked with the families whose children are force sensitive and will join in the training but they need some time to move."

Din felt Han staring at him, he was definitely suspicious of him. "So, you froze people in carbon recently?"

"Han!" Luke nearly choked on his drink.

"Smuggled anything recently?" Din just stared at him.

Leia enjoyed the show while Luke was dying inside just wanting them to get along.

"You've got a nice ship." Han gave him a small nod acknowledging his good choice. "Could give Luke some advice."

"Hey!"

"What you still fly your old X-wing!" Han took a swing of his Whiskey.

Luke frowned. "Let me remind you that that X-wing took down the Death Star! He's a great ship."

"Sure it did." Din attempted to make a joke but made everyone stop and look at him.

Leia was absolutely baffled. Han started laughing and Luke just stared at him. "You're kidding right?"

"I thought you were?" Din was confused.

Han just kept laughing. "Man, how out of the loop are you?"

"Wait, you're serious? You shot down the Death Star?" The Mandalorian just stared at his roommate.

Luke started laughing as well. "Oh my- yes. You didn't know?"

"No?"

Leia leaned closer to Din. "You amaze me."

Han poured himself and Luke more to drink. "Guess we gotta share some stories then, like how we got stuck in the trash compactor and Luke-"

"I swear to everything I hold dear don't you dare finish that sentence."

"How about when we went to that bar on Tatooine and you got really drunk and-"

Luke threw a pillow at him. "No! No stories of me being drunk what would my student's father think?"

Leia chuckled seeing them bicker and throw pillows at each other. The night went on with them just having a nice time Din feeling weirdly calm and at ease. When it got late Ben was nagging his parents that he was tired.

"You know I have a guest room right? You could stay for the night."

Leia smiled at her brother. "I wish I could. But I got a meeting early tomorrow." She turned to her husband. "Would you get Ben on the ship and get ready for take-off, dear? I gotta talk with Luke for a second."

Han agreed and went on board taking Ben with him. Leia just pulled her brother away out of Din's earshot who quickly caught on and went to tug in Grogu.

"What's this secrecy all about?" Luke chuckled. "I swear I'm taking care of myself."

"It's not that. Look, while going through some old Empirial files we found something. Han told me not to tell you but I think you deserve to know." She handed him a holovideo. "It's about Vader- I- watch it if you need to but be careful because this is really bad. Han is probably waiting. Look if you decide to watch it and need to talk call me I will come down here in seconds."

"Okay?" Luke was certainly puzzled but before he could ask more Han was calling his wife.

Leia quickly gave her brother a kiss on the cheek. "I love you." She hurried to the ship.

"Love you too." The Jedi looked at the device in his hand and just got back to the couch. "Might as well watch it." He heard a faint voice begging him not to watch it but ignored it hitting play.

When Din came back from tugging in Grogu he felt the entire house begin to shake. It seemed to come from the living room when he got there he found Luke staring at a holovideo. "Luke? What's going?!"

No reaction.

Din walked closer, trying to balance himself and seeing the other's face and blank stare at the holovideo, tears running down his face. "Luke! What happened?"

The other didn't react so Din carefully touched his shoulder. Suddenly he got pushed away slamming against the wall. This pulled Luke out of his trance and the house stopped shaking.

The Jedis hand shot up to his mouth freighted of what he did. "Din?!" He ran up to him tears still running. He fell on his knees in front of him. "I'm so sorry! I- I didn't mean to- Sorry, I'm-"

Din reached out to him but Luke just moved away. "Don't! I don't want to hurt you. I'm a mess right now. I'm so sorry, I-"

"You're not going to hurt me." Din got closer gently touching the other's shoulder.

Without warning, Luke buried his head in the other's chest crying. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Din."

Din hugged him pulling him close. "Hey, it's fine. Do you want to talk about it?"

Luke took a while before speaking up. "No, can you just hold me for a bit? I'm sorry if that's weird."

Din didn't answer pulling the other closer, surprising Luke who thought he would reject him. But Din couldn't just leave him like this.

"I'm scared. I don't know what to do. I'm terrified of myself." Luke held onto the other.

Din was overwhelmed this was so different from how the other behaved normally. Was he just putting on a facade? Did Luke make the house shake? Was that the space mag-force?

They stayed like that for a while Grogu had come out as well nestling against his master.

Luke tried to calm himself in front of the kid but just seeing him made him think about what his father did and he started breaking down even more. "I'm sorry, Grogu. I didn't mean to scare you and-"

He felt his little hand touch him trying to calm him. "Thank you- I don't-" He brushed some of his tears away.

Din just kept holding him unsure of what to further do to console him. They sat like that until Grogu fell asleep. Naturally, they tugged him in Luke still collecting himself.

"You should get some sleep, too." Din put his hand on his shoulder.

Luke looked at him tiredly. "I don't want to be alone. Can you just sit with me for a few minutes?"

Din nodded and the other led him to his room where they sat on the bed. This was the first time Din had seen his room. It was dark and there were pills on the other's bedside table, along with some empty to half-empty liquor bottles. Man, this was unexpected. But then again Din never expected the other to break down like that either.

When he looked back to the other was leaning against him. "Can you tell me a story about one of your adventures with Grogu?"

"Sure." Din smiled to himself. This felt oddly nice, the other leaning against him. He wanted to distance himself but couldn't. "We ran into some shrimp farmers and-" He recounted the story and when he looked at the other he had dozed off. So he carefully moved him to lay down.

The Mandalorian got up and closed the door before going to clean up the glasses in the living room. As he got there his eyes fell on the holovideo, the thing that made Luke so upset. He knew it wasn't his business so he closed it and put it on the shelf so grogu wouldn't play with it.

Notes:

Yep, starting with angst cuz I hate myself, sorry. But hey seeing your dad kill children got to be traumatizing.

Chapter Text

Luke woke up the next morning feeling like shit. He saw Anakin standing on the end of his bed but he just tuned him out and went to the veranda to mediate when he ran into Din.

"Oh- Din." He forced a smile. "Sorry about yesterday. Could you just forget it please?'

Din was unsure what to do but didn't want to intrude. "Okay. If you need to talk to someone just let me know. I'll make some breakfast. How do you like your eggs?"

"I don't think I can eat something today. I know I said I would but I just can't. I'm sorry." Luke didn't look Din in the face or where it would be he kept looking past him. "Could you tell Grogu that we won't train today? I need to figure some things out, sorry." He walked past the other to go to the veranda.

The first few minutes he was able to focus on meditating but then the pictures of the video kept flashing in front of him. He heard his father trying to contact him. "Stop!" Frustrated he opened his eyes. "Ugh, I just can't-" When he turned around he saw Din looking at him.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yes! Just leave me alone!" Luke snapped but immediately regretted it. "I'm sorry, I-" He took a deep breath. "I shouldn't have snapped at you. I'm sorry."

"It's fine-"

"No, it's not. You have been nothing but kind to me and I shouldn't have let my emotions out on you. I'm a Jedi, I should be more collected and shouldn't snap like that."

Din sighed and put a hand on Luke's shoulder. "Hey, I might not understand this whole Jedi stuff but you're still just human. Emotions are normal and you shouldn't bottle them up."

"But-"

"No but, come on I might know something that could help." The two went into the forest a few meters away from the house. Din grabbed a few bottles and trash from his ship together with a pipe. "Hit it."

"What?"

"Come on, you're frustrated. Believe me, it helps."

"But I'm not supposed to-" Luke looked unsure, worried about letting his emotions out. "This isn't really the Jedi way."

"Rules are meant to be broken. Who's here to stop you? Just don't use your space magic doing it and you won't fall into the shade or what you called it." Din stuck out the pipe.

Luke carefully grabbed it, too focused on his feelings to pay attention to Din's nonsense.

"Now hit it while thinking of the negative things that bother you and scream, Grogu's a deep sleeper, nobody will hear you."

The Jedi hit one of the bottles, carefully. He imagined it being his bottled-up feelings. So he hit it again. "I'm tired of always having to be a model citizen." He hit another still unsure. "I just want to be myself." He hit another. "I'm tired of having the force ghosts nagging me all the time! I'm sick of it! " He hit another getting more into it. "I'm sick of trying to prove that I'm not my father!" He got louder swinging harder. "I wish I could disappear! I hate the way people see me! I feel like nobody wants to deal with the real me and my kriffing emotions! I'm not a damn droid!"

"That's more like it."

"I just want to be okay! And now I found out my kriffing father slaughtered children! Kriff!" He felt the force ghosts being shocked at his outburst but he had himself under control. "All I did was try my best and this is what I get! I forgave him even after he cut off my kriffing hand and now this!" Luke screamed in frustration, letting out the rest of his emotions while bashing an old ship battery. He was screaming loud enough to startle some birds. "He killed Ben! They killed my Uncle and Aunt and Biggs! I'm so tired!" Tears started streaming down his cheeks. "I'm scared all the time, scared that I'll turn out like him." He fell down on his knees dropping the pipe screaming and crying.

Din was a bit overwhelmed he hadn't expected so much stuff boiling in the other. He pulled him into a hug unsure if it was the right thing to do but when the other leaned against him he was sort of relieved.

"I'm scared I'll mess up Grogu or the other kids. I don't want all this responsibility. I'm scared, Din." He looked at the other searching for something, anything.

"You won't mess up anyone." Din carefully touched his cheek brushing away his tears.

"How do you know that?"

"I don't know I just don't think you're the type for that. You're too kind and good? You're just too scared to make a mistake. Grogu trusts you and I guess I do too. I'm not good at this stuff, sorry."

"No, don't apologize! You- thank you. This really helped!" Luke smiled at him wiping away some stray tears.

Din felt warm seeing him smile like that again. "That's good to hear! If you need somebody to talk to just tell me."

"Thank you." Luke kissed the side of Din's helmet where his cheek would be. "Come on, we should get breakfast for Grogu ready."

"Y-yeah."

The two went back to the house. Arriving in the kitchen the Mandalorian started making breakfast. "Hey, Din, I'm really glad you're here. It's less lonely with you and Grogu. It feels more like home."

"Oh-" Din felt as if the other just sucker-punched him. His breath was gone for a second and he could feel his blood rush to his face. The smile on the other's face and his piercing kind blue eyes focusing on his face could knock him out but kind of in a good way. "I'm glad to be here, too."

Luke found himself blushing, realizing what he just said. "Uh- I'm gonna go wake up Grogu!" He turned around immediately and hurried off away. Get your shit together, Skywalker. You're gonna make him uncomfortable and leave like this! He went into Grogu's room. "Hey, there Grogu." He gently let his hand brush over the other's face waking him. "Breakfast time. I think Din's making eggs." Luke picked him up, the child made a happy noise.

When he got back into the kitchen Din was ready, putting down two plates of eggs, putting the third for himself on the counter.

Luke loved how he looked while cooking and couldn't help smiling at how domestic this all was. He put grogu down on the chair in front of the eggs before sitting down himself. "Thank you, I appreciate it."

"No problem, jetii." Din smiled to himself.

Luke was surprised haven't heard Din speak to him in his language. He wasn't really versed in it but he guessed it meant Jedi. Before he could ask the other had already left. To be fair Luke was just happy that the other felt comfortable enough around him to slip in his mother tongue.

When Din was done eating he went back to the kitchen to return his plate. He then looked outside to their garden seeing Luke training with Grogu. The Jedi was so good with him. He could see Grogu grow in front of him. If he was honest the Jedi was good with kids in general, seeing him interact with his nephew made Din all warm. But if something really knocked the breath out of him it was his smile and laugh, it was just so bright it could light up the whole room and he would always lend Din one making his day brighter. The Mandalorian was glad he could help the other through his struggles.

When Luke saw him watching them he beamed at him waving him over. Din felt his face flush red feeling as if he had just been caught doing something bad. He quickly shook off that feeling and went over to them.

"Do you want to join us today?" Luke took his hand feeling light and excited that the other had taken an interest.

"Eh- sure."

"Okay, we've been working on him using the force to find his way around. Grogu close your eyes again." When the child did Luke held his finger up to his lips and took Din's hand pulling him with him to move somewhere else. Grogu then waddled up to them finding them and squeaking happily. "Good job, Grogu."

"Yeah, good job buddy!" Din was mesmerized by the other's abilities.

"Now, we'll try again but faster, okay?"

Grogu nodded and closed his eyes. Luke started hurrying away pulling the Mandalorian with him. They did this a few times every time Grogu got faster at finding them. The last time Luke ran a bit too fast tripping and pulling Din down with him, Din landing on top of Luke. The Jedi just stared at him bursting into whole-hearted laughter.

Din couldn't help but laugh as well. He almost fell more onto the other but managed to keep himself up.

Grogu waddled up to them confused making them realize their situation. Luke blushed, getting really red noticing the other's knee between his legs and how close their faces were. He shot up head butting the other.

"Ow-" Luke held his head. "Sorry!"

Din immediately got off him. "Sorry!" He wasn't sure if the other realized how intimate that gesture was, well if it was executed correctly. But he guessed not. He just stuck out his hand helping the other up while being as red as a tomato underneath his helmet.

Luke just chuckled turning to Grogu. "How about we cut training for today? I promised R2 that I'll fix some dents he got a while back. You did really well, Grogu. You should be proud of yourself." Luke smiled at the child before turning to Din. "Sorry again, I should've looked where I was going."

Din was still overwhelmed from their interactions not getting a word out before the Jedi left. Grogu looked up at him confused. "It's nothing, kid. Now let's go work on my ship." Din picked him up and went to work on his ship.

Notes:

The force ghosts were like "Nah probably shouldn't bother him for a while." Meanwhile, Obi-Wan judged Anakin for the Youngling situation, like "Dude, why?" Yoda is just questioning how Anakin got to be a force ghost after that.

Chapter Text

A few says later Luke was out with Din getting his ship fixed while Leia and Han babysat Grogu. The Jedi and Mandalorian flew for a good second. "So why did you want to come with me again?"

"Just wanted to get out. Also wanted to meet your mechanic. My X-wing could use some work."

"You could use a new ship."

"Hey! He's my baby. We've been through a lot. I'm not getting a new ship." Luke pretend to be offended and got a small chuckle out of Din. Mission accomplished. After hearing him laugh yesterday while training he made it his mission to hear him laugh more often.

When they arrived Luke stepped out immediately regretting it.

"Wormie?! Skywalker! You kriffing bastard!" Peli stormed up to him.

Luke put his hands in the air backing up. "Hey, Miss Motto. Long time no see-" He put on an awkward smile.

"Do you know how worried I was when you just disappeared like that! Then I hear your uncle and aunt died. Suddenly you're a war hero!"

Din looked confused. "You know each other?"

"That little womp rat worked for me until he suddenly up and left to save the universe! Kriffing Bastard!" She hit the Jedi.

"Ouch-" Luke put up his hands protecting his face. "I meant to drop by but then I got wrapped up in politics and Jedi stuff and-"

"You'll sit down with me for tea now. You too, Mando." She told her droids to fix up the ship. After that she dragged them inside, forcing them to sit down. "You two have some things to explain. How did you end up together and where's the kid?"

"Well, the kid called me. I'm training him and I guess Din lives with me now."

"Well, I will be damned, Wormie is a fully-fledged Jedi."

"Well, I wouldn't say fully fledged."

Din interrupted them. "What's the Wormie thing?"

"Oh, it's his nickname on Tatooine."

Din chuckled finding the nickname hilarious. "Why Wormie?"

"Cause he was or is a scrawny kid and-"

"Hey! I'm not scrawny!"

"Sure." Peli laughed.

Din smiled to himself. "So, Wormie, you worked here?"

"Don't call me that Din." Luke looked at him frowning. "Yeah I liked tinkering with stuff so this seemed fitting. Oh by the way you don't have X-wing spares by any chance?"

While they looked for them Leia and Han put Grogu and Ben to bed. They sat down in the living room. "I'll get us something to drink." Han went off to the kitchen when he found the holovideo. "I can't believe her-" He grabbed it angrily. "Sweetheart, can you explain this?" He held it up to her being pissed.

"He had a right to know!"

"You took his father away from him! He's probably distraught."

"His father was a monster! He killed younglings and blew up my home planet!" Leia got up getting upset.

Han threw the holovideo on the floor. "Does your hatred for him justify destroying his picture of him and making him upset! You know he has a lot in his plate already. He didn't need this!"

"I can't believe you're mad at me for telling my brother the truth!" Leia yelled back at him.

"I can't believe you went behind my back!" He screamed back at her. "And I can't believe you would hurt the kid like that!"

"He's not a child! You're not the only one who cares-"

"Why are you fighting?"

Leia saw Ben staring at them crying. "Ben!" She hurried to him. "I'm sorry."

"Hey buddy. Mom and Dad aren't fighting. We just disagreed." Han did the same letting his fingers run through his hair. "Let's get you back to bed."

"Promise you're not fighting?"

"Promise." Both answered almost in unison.

They tugged him back into bed before getting something to drink and sitting down. Han took his wife's hand. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you. You know how I get when it's about the kid. I just wish you would've talked with me beforehand. I know Vader hurt you and you don't have to forgive him ever but this wasn't the right time to tell him."

"I know. I'm sorry, too. I guess I was mad that after all that happened he still cared for him." Leia kissed her husband's hand. "I promise not to go behind your back again. I love you."

"I love you, too." Han poured them something to drink and cleaned up the broken holovideo. "Now let's talk about his new 'roommate'."

Luke and Din were having a great time but decided to head home. When they arrived at their planet it was raining. They ran to drop off a spare part at Luke's X-wing before running back home.

"Hey, let's wait the rain out here." Din gestured to a little stone overhang. They went under it sitting down on the ground. The rain just got more and more until lightning suddenly struck the sky.

Luke immediately drew his lightsaber, surprising Din, and staring into the direction going stiff.

"Luke? Are you alright?"

The other didn't answer just clutching his lightsaber tighter and losing focus of everything around him. He kept muttering to himself. "Father, please- I don't wanna die. Please-"

"Luke!" Din gently touched him just dodging his lightsaber.

Just know did Luke realize where he was and how he nearly cut his friend in half. Not even a second later he collapsed having a seizure.

"Shit!" Din picked him up and ran to their house. During that Luke stopped shaking and had passed out.

When they got back Leia immediately went to her brother. "Han get me a blanket!"

Din put him on the couch where Leia kneeled in front of him gently caressing his face. When Han came back he put the blanket over him before facing din.

"Did you hurt him?! What did you do?!"

"I didn't-"

"I'll kill you-"

"He didn't do anything, Han." Leia intervened. "He had another episode."

"Sorry."

"It's fine."

Luke was bundled up in a blanket slowly regaining consciousness. Sweat ran down his forehead as he was shaking his sister pulling the blanket tighter over him. "What? Leia?"

"You're alright. You're home. Was it the lightning again?" She carefully stroked his cheeks.

"Yes, sorry." He tried to regulate his breathing. "I thought I had it under control." He felt his heart race as he tried to focus on the here and now. His ears still ringing.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. Let me get you a glass of water." Leia kissed him on the forehead and went to the kitchen.

Han just stared at Din unsure of what to think. They stood a few feet away out of earshot. "You guys should have been here an hour ago, you know."

"I know. What is it with lightning?"

"That's not something I should tell you but him." Han went to see what was taking his wife so long.

Din went to sit next to Luke who had collected himself after a while. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, sorry about that. I guess I just got some things to work through." He smiled weakly trying to reassure him.

"I get that. Do you want to talk about it?"

"Nah, not now. Can you tell me a story of one of your bounties or something?" Luke felt himself getting tired and before realizing it he leaned against the other closing his eyes listening to him talk. "You gotta take me one day."

"Isn't that against some jetii rule?" Din couldn't help but smile and feel warm.

While dozing off Luke let his prosthetic hand run over the other's arm, feeling weirdly connected even though there was no skin touching skin, just metal on metal. "Nah, it's to keep peace in a way right. Plus what kind of skywalker would I be if I wouldn't break some rules." And with that, he was gone and fast asleep.

Just then Han and Leia came back. Leia had stopped to check on Grogu and Ben. They went up to them, din gesturing to them to stay quiet. Leia just quietly placed the glass on the table. "We can stay longer if you want."

"I think Everything's under control but thanks."

"You sure? He can be a handful." Han joked getting nudged by Leia. "What? You know I'm right. Remember when he almost froze to death and I had to rescue him."

"Yeah but I also remember multiple times that he rescued you. I trust Din will call us for help if anything happens that he can't handle. I trust him."

"Well, I don't."

Din wanted to be offended but to be fair he wouldn't trust himself either.

Leia just grabbed Hans's hand. "Well, it looks like Luke trusts him though." She smiled. "Let's go. It was a pleasure babysitting Grogu, he's a sweet kid. Have a good night, Din."

"Thank you." While the other two got Ben and left he could overhear Han questioning what Leia meant and being just as oblivious as Din was.

Luke just cuddled closer to the other as he finally got some good sleep. Din just smiled. After a while, he picked the other up carefully not to wake him and carried him to his bedroom. He stayed by his side for a few minutes before going to sleep himself.

Chapter 4: Galatic Senate

Summary:

Luke takes Din with him to the Galatic Senat. Politics call for trouble

Chapter Text

Luke, Din, and Grogu were on their way to the galactic senate. The Jedi was asked to attend a meeting and asked the others to come with him arguing that he could continue training Grogu during their stay at Chandrilla. Din had been against it at first unsure if him being there was such a good idea but eventually agreed.

The last few days the force ghosts had stopped trying to contact Luke, especially his father who had been silent since the Jedis meltdown. It was a refreshing silence.

The group was flying the last stretch. "Hey, Din?"

"Yes?"

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"How is it on the outer rim worlds? I haven't been there since I left Tatooine after rescuing Han. But I know that during my childhood there, it was rough and crime-filled. I mean we went for your ship's repair but I didn't really see much since we just sat at Pelis place. Is it still bad?"

"Yeah, got the full outer rim package slavery and all."

"Will you come with me to the meeting? I want to address the outer rim issue and having a witness with me will ground my claim that we need to change some things or we'll end up like the old Republic."

"I don't think that's a good idea."

"We can change things I know it. Please?"

"Luke, I'm a criminal-"

"I trust you and I vouch for you and your character." Luke took his hands. "Please?"

"Fine but I'm telling you this will not work."

They dropped of Grogu with Ben, Leia's maids, and C3PO. Luke had to explain multiple times that Din was with him when people questioned the Mandalorian being there. The senate was no different when they arrived the guards stood in front of the door.

"My name is Luke Skywalker, I'm being expected."

"What about the bounty hunter?" A guard questioned him.

"He's with me." The guards opened the door letting them through still looking at Din unsure.

Din felt weird. He felt out of place. The way Luke acted was throwing him off as well. No happy smile or chuckle. He was composed and carrying a polite smile. His back was perfectly straight and he looked like a completely different person.

The senators looked at Din confused until one person spoke up. "General Skywalker, what is the point of this."

"The Mandalorian is with me. I don't believe any further questions are needed. Everything will make sense in time." Luke felt his sister and friends look at him confused. "Now I believe I was called here to give an update on the Jedi younglings. We have located multiple force-sensitive individuals and they will begin training in a month and 3 weeks. The families are currently on their way to move here."

Another senate member spoke up. Luke couldn't quite remember their name but he had made little flashcards so he could learn all their names. "Excuse me, but aren't Jedi supposed to be separated from their family to stop bonds from forming, as the old order did. We don't want a repeat what happened to your father when he formed a relationship with Senator Amidala."

"Well, I believe the old Jedi order had his problems which I don't want to repeat." Luke didn't like that his father was brought up but he stayed calm and collected as a Jedi should. "I don't believe that relationships and bonds with other people are the problems that make Jedi fall to the dark side. I think they make us strong. The problem was that my father felt like he would have to hide this part of his life from the people who were supposed to guide him. Personally, I think family makes us strong and gives us a reason to stay on the right path. We need to remember that Jedi are just sentients like the rest of us and I think separating children from their families would be the wrong move in this situation. We should teach them how to handle their emotions without suppressing them and how to deal with the loss of a loved one instead of cutting them off from them."

The senate member seemed unhappy with the answer clinging to the old ideals but Luke didn't care. He just continued to answer more questions until there weren't any.

"I have also come with my own matters which I wish to discuss." Luke waited for the Go, then he continued. "I think we should pay more attention to the outer rim. Look, I know this is a highly controversial topic but we can't just ignore it. I grew up on the outer rim, Tatooine to be exact and the legal situation there is a mess. There is still slavery, even though it has been abolished, along with other sentient rights violations. We need to make a stand that we won't be the same as the empire."

A woman spoke up. "But it's been a while since you have been to Tatooine if I'm not wrong so how can you be sure that things are still the same?"

"That is why I've brought the Mandalorian. He spends a lot of time in the outer rim worlds and he can testify for how the conditions on this planet are."

The Senate member who had criticized Luke before spoke up again. "With all due respect general Skywalker, that man is a criminal, why should we trust anything he says."

"Because I vouche for him and I can guarantee that he can be trusted."

"That isn't enough. You might be a Jedi but this is politics." Mulitple people agreed with the senator causing loud discussions.

Luke tried to argue but was shut down again and again starting to back down and feel awful, his confidence fleeting.

"I can vouch for him too." Leia broke up the mumbling among the senate members.

"Me too, also are you forgetting who you owe our victory over the empire to?" Han spoke up as well. "All you did was question Luke's judgment and criticize him! This man would have given his life to the new Republic and freedom and this is how you thank him?! You just don't want to face the truth that we've been failing the outer rim! If you don't believe him go and look at it yourselves. Now let him speak."

Lando agreed saying if Luke trusts the Mandalorian he would too.

The room got quiet after Han's speech and Din backed up Luke's claim about the awful living conditions the outer rim people live in, the high crime rate, and the shrimp village that got attacked by forces using old empire technology. Luke had noticed him getting nervous with everyone looking at him and had squeezed his arm to reassure him discreetly.

At the end, they agreed to look into the matter and discussed how they could secure the rights of everyone living on the outer rim. When they were done Luke left with Din.

"Oh lord now I remember why I don't like meetings like this." He smiled at Din. "Thank you, Din. You were amazing!"

"Thank you." Din grinned liking the other's praise. "You weren't so bad yourself. You really know how to handle yourself in a nexu's den like that. Almost didn't recognize you there."

Luke gently hit the other's arm. "Stop." He chuckled. "I'm a Jedi. People expect me to be a certain way."

"Better not tell them about your drinking habits."

"Ey." Luke laughed. "It's not that bad, asshole."

They went to Leia's and Han's quarters to see them and Grogu. When they arrived Leia opened and immediately hugged Luke. "I missed you."

"I missed you, too."

Han looked at Din. "You've got some balls going in front of the senate like that and speaking your mind. I can respect that." He smiled at him.

Din was sure this was the nicest thing the other has said to him. "Thank you, I-"

"Don't get me wrong, one wrong move and you're toast."

"Han!" Luke hit him in the arm. "Be nice. Din is my friend."

Friend. Din was surprised. To be honest, he had no idea what they were until now, hearing that made him happy.

Leia pulled her brother aside. When they were gone Han spoke up again. "You hurt the kid, chewie will rip your arms off and I'll do worse. He gets attached quickly and has been through a lot. If I see him hurt because of you you're dead, understood."

"Understood. I don't want to hurt him, I promise. Like Luke said we're friends."

Luke and Leia were in another room. "Are you okay? Did you watch the video?"

"I did." Luke looked on the ground his mind racing.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Not really." Luke took a deep breath and looked up at his sister. "I'm working through it but I'm okay. Being with Din helped a lot."

"That's good to hear. I'm glad you two have become friends."

"Do you think you guys could watch Grogu? I would like to go out and Din wanted to get some ship modifications."

"Sure, Ben loves playing with him and I think he is his happy to have found a friend that's going to Jedi school with him."

"Thank you."

Din and Luke left. "When you're done, you should come to the club with me." Luke left the address with him and went on his way.

The Mandalorian went to a shop and finally got all the spare parts he needed and couldn't get at Pelis place. When he was done it was already pretty late but he decided to check the club out anyway.

Chapter 5: Shady bars and Drunk assholes

Summary:

Luke is severely drunk and Din comes to the rescue

Trigger Warning: Sleazy guys attempting to take advantage of a drunk person, sexually. Not sure if it needs a TW but wanted to make sure.

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Din went into the club trying to find Luke. It was a pretty shady place. He wondered why the Jedi chose this place but he decided that was a question he could ask him when he found him.

Meanwhile, Luke was on the dance floor drunk out of his mind surrounded by two older men, who were feeling him up while dancing. He was too drunk to care and even made out with them. The men groped him harshly hurting him but he just let them.

Din was cursing how big the club was and hated the stares he got. Some girls tried flirting with him but he just shot them down eventually ending up at the bar. "Hey, have you seen Skywalker, blond, pretty blue eyes?"

The bartender scoffed. "I know who Skywalker is. Why should I tell you?"

Din threw some money at him.

"Yeah, he's here. Some guys have been talking about how he will be their ultimate conquest or something. I've last seen him on the dance floor."

Din got weirdly angry at the thought of people talking like that about Luke and scared that they might take advantage of him. "Thanks." He went to search the dance floor.

Luke was meanwhile guided off the dance floor to some corner where the two men kept kissing him, more aggressively. But he just let it happen, welcoming the distraction. One guy pulled his hair harshly making him yelp while the other guided the Jedis hand into his pants. "You're such a slut."

Luke let them do whatever, just wanting to be desired to be wanted in that way.

The guy pulling his hair bit his neck. "You should be ashamed of yourself. That's what they call a Jedi nowadays? Giving yourself up to strangers so easily, letting us do whatever we want."

"I'm sorry- ah-" Luke felt one of the men kiss him roughly.

"This is all your pretty mouth is good for." They shoved him into the bathroom.

In the bathroom, one of them shoved the Jedi to the floor pulling his hair roughly while the other undid his pants. "Lost our job because of you rebels, now you gotta be our bitch, you hear me. We'll use you until you'll pass out."

The men got a kick out of their power trip. "Gotta repay us." They pulled his hair harder making Luke yelp.

Just now Din came into the bathroom after having found some people pointing him in the right direction. He saw the one guy standing in front of the Jedi with his pants down the other maneuvering Luke around as the Jedi kneeled on the ground.

They didn't even seem to care that Din just walked in until he spoke up. "Hey! What the kriff do you think you're doing?!"

"What does it look like we were gonna use this slut. If you want to you gotta wait your turn and-" The man couldn't finish his sentence because Din hit him in the face making him stumble and fall.

Luke who was completely out of it just noticed him. "Din!" He smiled at him completely out of it while Din hit the other man as well.

"Did they drug you?" He kneeled in front of the Jedi, while the men collected themselves.

"I thought you wouldn't come." Luke threw his arms around Din who stood up pulling him up with him. When he saw the men trying to attack him he pulled out his blaster making them leave. "Come on, jetii, let's get you out of here."

"Okay." Luke chuckled and cuddled against him. "Mh, you smell nice."

Din held him up, ignoring the comment, and walked him out where Luke threw up. God, he's a mess. Din had never seen him like that, probably because the other was apparently good at hiding stuff like this. The men had ripped at his clothing tearing the sleeve of his jacket, he was covered in bruises and just a sloppy mess. Din eventually picked him up, piggyback style, and carried him the rest of the way to his apartment in the city.

When they were there he sat Luke down on the bed, got the first aid kit, and cleaned the bite marks as well as his knees who bleed from being shoved onto the hard bathroom floor. Luke just stared at him the whole time.

"You're so kind and strong." The Jedi slurred his words while talking.

"Thanks, I guess?" Din handed him a glass of water. "You should drink that."

"Is it vodka?"

"It's water."

"Then, no."

"Luke, drink," Din demanded which made the other drink.

"That's really hot you know. You being all demanding, I like that."

Din ignored his comment. "Did they drug you?"

"I don't know, probably just drank too much." Luke chuckled.

"Why? Did your space magic tell you to do that?"

"I don't need the force to tell me to be a drunk and a whore. Thank you very much." Luke grinned at him. "Do you want to fuck?"

"Excuse me, what?" Din was taken aback, not sure if he heard the other correctly.

"Do you want to fuck? I'll let you do whatever you want to me, pull my hair, slap me, tie me up, chok-"

"No." Din felt himself get extremely red and was never happier that he wore a helmet.

"Why not? Do you find me repulsive? Why would you get me out of there if you didn't want me to please you?"

"What, no. Look, you are extremely handsome, definitely not repulsive, but that's not why I got you out of there. You're my friend and they were gonna take advantage of you-"

"Wouldn't be the first time." Luke shrugged. "So you don't want to fuck me?"

"No, you're drunk Luke. You should go to sleep. Let me get you something to change into. Your clothes are a mess." Din went to the other's closet and got out some clothes. "Can you do that yourself or do you need help?"

Luke looked like he was still wrapping his head around the fact that Din didn't want to sleep with him but eventually answered. "Could you help me?"

"Sure." Din helped him get his jacket and shirt off, putting on a fresh one for him. He then helped him with his pants until they were done.

"I'm sorry."

"What for?"

"For being a handful." Luke leaned his forehead against the other's chest. "You should've just left me then you wouldn't have to deal with this without getting something back." He yawned.

"It's fine. You should go to sleep."

"Yeah." Luke closed his eyes still leaning against the other. "It's a shame."

"What?"

"The helmet. I bet you're really handsome. You have to, being so nice and having such a great voice." With that Luke dozed of and Din put him into the bed tugging him in. He really is a handful. But He sort of liked that. These past days he's seen so many different sides to him. For the first time in a long time, he felt like he could trust someone. He liked him, he was endearing and he just had this weird feeling like he had to protect him. Maybe it was his big blue gorgeous eyes. He thought he could maybe open up more but what was if when the Jedi really saw him he would be disappointed and turn the other way. Guess he was fine with how things were like now.

"Sleep well, jetii." He sighed and went into the guest room.

Notes:

Luke can't grasp that someone, he hasn't known for that long, would go through all that trouble for him without wanting something in return.

Chapter 6: The morning after

Summary:

Luke gets confronted with his drunken action and seeks advice.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Luke woke up the next morning to a blaring headache and a glass of water with pills on the bed stand. He quickly took them looking down on himself, fresh clothes. That's a new one. He also smelled breakfast. That's also new? Curious he stood up walking to the kitchen where Din was making eggs.

The Mandalorian turned around looking at him. "Up already? Thought you'd be out longer."

Luke blinked a few times trying to gather his thoughts. "Did we?"

"No. You suggested it though."

He got beat red and felt weirdly touched that the other didn't sleep with him in his drunken state. That was definitely new. He felt his heart flutter. "Sorry, I-"

"It's fine. You were drunk. Are you feeling okay?" Din came up to him pulling off his glove and putting his hand on his forehead.

Luke got even redder realizing this was the first time they actually touched like skin to skin. "Y-yeah!"

"You sure? You're hot. Maybe they really put something in your drink."

Luke pulled his hand down from his forehand just realizing that now their hands were touching. "Y-yeah! Thanks for worrying though." He cleared his throat. "I gotta meet with Leia sorry! I'll get Grogu when I come back. See you later!"

He ran to grab his coat before quickly leaving.

Din just stared at the door. "Well, that was weird? Did I make him uncomfortable?"

When Luke reached Leia and Han's quarters he was lucky to just catch his sister. "Leia we gotta talk now! It's an emergency."

"Should I get Han?"

"No!" Luke shrieked before collecting himself. "Sibling thing."

"Okay, come in. Let's sit down in my office. No one will disturb us there." They went to sit down. After closing the door Leia looked at him worried. "So what's the matter?"

"I asked Din to sleep with me!" Luke blurted out.

"You what?!"

"We didn't but I got drunk yesterday and asked him if he wanted to sleep with me! I don't know how to behave around him now and-"

"Wait, first of all, he turned you down?"

"Yes, I was drunk and he turned me down and now I'm a mess around him!"

"Do you like him or were you just horny?"

"What?"

"It's easy. Do you have a crush on him?"

Luke just stared at her blankly. Before blushing. "No! He has a morally grey job and I've never seen his face and he has this weird gruff exterior but respects me and treats me well and the way he handles Grogu is teeth rotting sweet and-" He cleared his throat. "No! Definitely not!"

"Sounds like you like him-"

"I don't!"

"Okay but hypothetically what if you liked him? Why don't you just ask him out on a date or flirt with him like you would with your other crushes?"

"I couldn't, not with him."

"What are you so scared of?"

"What if when he sees me, like really sees me he doesn't like it and is disappointed? What if when I ask him on a date he doesn't want to and things get weird. His son is my student."

"Any more what ifs?" Leia chuckled.

"What if when he sees me, he knows that I like him?! What if he opens up a door and I can't close it? I'm scared of shedding my shell and letting people in." Luke looked down frustrated. "I shouldn't have these feelings! I'm a Jedi I shouldn't want a relationship but I just want to see him, want to hold his hands and kiss him."

"Hey! Calm down. What happened to your big speech in front of the senate about Jedi having bonds?"

"That's different! They're not me. They won't mess up as much as I do and don't have a father that was a Sith. I already let my emotions run free too much."

"For the record, this is self-destructive. You can't hold yourself to higher standards than others. You can't pretend your emotions aren't there."

"For the record, I'm aware of that." Luke sighed and fell further back into the chair. "But ever since this morning I've been picturing his body draped over the bed wearing nothing but his helmet. I'm so screwed."

"Yeah." Leia pet his shoulder. "Look if you like him just try it. You miss all the shots you don't take. It's time you do what you want, not what you feel like you should do."

"Do you have a place where I could meditate for a bit?"

"Uh- sure. You can go on the balcony."

Luke hugged her. "Thanks a lot." He immediately got up and went to the balcony.

"I never know what goes through his head."

When he reached the balcony he took a deep breath and tried to contact his father, something he hasn't done since he saw the video.

'Luke, please let me-'

'No, I don't want to hear it. I am not contacting you because of that video. I need advice. Look I've been a mess lately. How do I prevent myself from turning to the dark side? I'm scared.'

'You won't, mistakes don't turn you to the dark side choices do. Don't bottle up your emotions let them go. Imagine tying them to a balloon and letting them go. Acknowledge they are there but don't act upon them. At least that's what I've been told but I'm not really the best person to come to with this.'

'What if I don't want to let an emotion go? What if I want to hold onto it?'

'You're talking about your feelings for the Mandalorian?'

'Yes.'

'You need to ask yourself if the pain that comes with it is worth the happiness is.'

'Was it worth it? Padme?'

'Yes. I regret a lot of things but not the love we shared. It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all and-'

The two got interrupted when Din came up to him. "Hey, Luke. Hope I'm not interrupting Leia let me in."

"It's all good. I think I got what I wanted." Luke smiled at him. He decided then and there that he wouldn't pursue him, that being friends was good enough for him, and seeing him happy was all he needed.

"Sorry about this morning and-"

"I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable. I was too drunk yesterday and I shouldn't have. That was very unprofessional of me."

"It's fine. I'm just glad you didn't throw up on my shoes."

"Asshole." Luke chuckled. "Let's get Grogu and go home." They gathered Grogu and said their goodbyes.

The flight was normal. Luke noticed Din glancing over at him a bit more than usual and liked it.

Din was confused. The Jedi had acted so strangely this morning and now he was back to normal. But he was glad to have him back to his cheery exterior.

Chapter Text

"Penny for your thoughts?" Luke sat down on the roof next to Din. It was late in the night and the stars were out. He had seen the other go out. The last few days after they got back he had been weirdly quiet and distant.

"It's nothing." Din looked at the stars stretching out above them.

Luke put his hand on his. "Bullshit. Do you wanna talk about or?"

"I don't." Din pulled his hand away and seemed cold but before the other could back away he spoke up again. "Can you stay with me?"

"Sure." Luke leaned against his shoulder looking up. "It's a beautiful night, not a single cloud."

"Yeah." Din didn't move away this time liking the other's contact finding it calming.

"You know when I was younger I always wanted to be out here, somewhere other than Tatooine. But sometimes I miss the sand." Luke smiled, he felt a great disturbance in the force (Anakin screaming at the sound of betrayal). "I used to climb on the roof like this back then as well."

It was quiet between them for a while but not uncomfortably quiet. Din was scared to open up but his whole body urged him to do it. "I came out here to think about my parents."

Luke looked up to him.

"They died on this day. You know how I avoid R2, right? It's nothing about him it's just-" He took a deep breath. "Droids killed them. I lived in Aq Venita. My parents hid me before getting killed. Eventually, the Mandalorians saved me and I became a foundling. I owe my life to them."

"Din, I-" Luke took his hand again. "I'm sorry." His eyes were watery he could feel the other hurting, feel that his facade had crumbled, that he had let him in. "You're not alone anymore. I will always stay by your side." He squeezed his hand.

Din didn't answer he just put his hand on Luke's. "I've done terrible things. Are you sure you want that?"

"Nothing you could've done or could do can change my mind. I will always be there for you. You're so much more than your actions and your pain. You're family."

Din didn't deserve this. The other was too nice, too gentle, too good. He would ruin him. He would hurt him. He should pull away and establish distance between them to build a wall to protect the other. But he was selfish he didn't want to. Luke had accepted him and he didn't want to move away from him. He wanted to confide in him wanted him to see him as he was, wanted him to know his broken parts. Tears ran down his cheek.

Luke knew that and pulled out a piece of cloth. "Let me touch you, really touch you." He put it over his eyes.

Din knew what he meant and he hesitated but eventually pulled off his helmet knowing the other couldn't see him.

Luke pulled off his gloves and gently reached out to him stopping only an inch away from his face. "Is this okay?"

"Yes."

He moved in gently, laying his hands down on the other's face.

Din flinched for a second before relaxing. His breathing staggered. He didn't know how long it had been since somebody touch his face like this.

Luke was extremely careful he let his thumbs gently stroke the other's cheeks wiping away some tears. "Is this okay?"

"Yes." Din felt touched not only physically, it was as if he had touched his soul, his whole being. Without the helmet Din saw the other without glass between them for the first time felt the warmth of his skin. It was exhilarating. He could smell the other's bodywash a faint mint and cider. Din felt the gentleness of his touch as well as his slightly rough hands from years of combat.

Was he allowed to look at him like that? It felt too intimate. But could it be wrong when he was just so nice to look at? His soft hair, his kind eyes hidden behind the blindfold. The soft lips, that were turned into a bright smile.

Something about him just made him want to protect him and shelter him from all the harm out there, especially after knowing all the pain he harbored inside and all the sadness he went through. Din wished Luke wouldn't have had to grow up during the war and to have had a loving father. The young man had so much responsibility on him, he didn't deserve all that. Though Dun only knew glimpses of the other's trouble it was enough to know that he was hurting.

Luke meanwhile took in the sensations of the other's skin feeling some almost faded scars on his face. His finger went over the other's lip making him pull away for a second, chuckling. "Sorry, I got carried away." Luke placed his hands back on his face and gave him a kiss on the cheek making Din blush hard. "Thank you for trusting me." He beamed at him.

They stayed like that for a while, Din just looking at the other in awe and Luke just holding his face. Luke had seen through Din and the walls he kept up all this time. The Mandalorian had forgotten that even in this shitty universe there are kind people. He didn't feel pressured by the other to speak and was able to take his time to open up. This was all new to him.

"Hey, Din?"

"Yeah?"

"You're part of my family, now." He smiled and leaned back against him.

"And you're part of mine." Din could feel the other's hair tickle his chin and couldn't help but smile.

Notes:

They stayed outside for a while and tbh I would like to see the stars far away from the lights of cities again. It's breathtaking wbu?

Chapter Text

The next day Luke left for a mission. He went to check out a situation about left clones. It was late at night, Grogu was already asleep when Din heard something like a crash and went into attack mode going to check it out, only to find Luke laying on the floor. "Luke!" He hurried to his side and kneeled next to him.

The Jedi looked up at him his voice was coarse. "Sorry, I hope I didn't wake Grogu-" He was cut off by his own coughing, bleeding onto the floors.

"Are you insane? You should worry about yourself, plus you know he's a deep sleeper. Come on let me help fix you up." Din carefully picked him up not noticing his blue eyes staring at him until Luke touched his helmet, trying to remember the feeling of the other's skin. Din looked at him confused.

The Jedi felt himself blush and just smiled. "Sorry, it's the blood loss." He joked.

The Mandalorian got more worried and layed him down on a bed in their first aid room. "I'll need to take your robe of is that okay?"

"Do you have to?"

"Yes, it looks like you've got shot in the chest I have to take a look at that, why?"

"I don't-" He wasn't sure how to formulate his words. "I don't like the way my body looks." He hesitated, feeling the other's worry before speaking up again. "Okay." He looked to the side.

Din carefully removed the other's robe, seeing all the wounds that he has endured and all the old scars, especially deep lightning-like ones. He felt horrible knowing what the Jedi must have been through but pulled himself together knowing as well that the other probably wouldn't want him feeling like that and began patching him up.

Luke eventually just watched everything he was doing while feeling himself getting lightheaded and about to pass out until the Mandalorian started disinfecting his wounds. He flinched in pain. "Ah- kr- that hurts."

"Sorry, gotta clean it. What even happened to you to get you this beat up? I thought you were supposed to be a master Jedi."

"Hey! I had a bad enough day without you sassing me. I got overwhelmed and-" He took a deep breath. "I would prefer not to talk about it, yet, Sorry."

"Hey, it's fine, no pressure." Mando smiled and started gently cleaning the scratches on his face. "You should be more careful though, next time let me come with you."

"Sure" Luke couldn't help but smile feeling the other's coarse hands caress his skin. He felt a warmth come over him watching how careful the other bandaged him. "Thank you."

Din just stared at him. Thinking about what would've happened if he had been late or already asleep. He and Grogu were his family, his creed.

"Are you alright?" Luke carefully caressed the other's cheek or where it would be. He could feel his eyes stare through him. "I'm fine Din I promise. I had worse." He pulled off the clove from his cybernetic hand. "Remember? You can't get rid of me that easily." Luke chuckled leaning his head against Dins, not knowing the significance of that gesture. But still feeling genuinely connected to him this way.

Din didn't mind, he blushed and got extremely red but he felt himself smile. "Just be more careful next time, please. Grogu needs you. You're his family. You're my family."

"I promise." Luke closed his eyes just enjoyed this moment and their closeness. "He's my family too. You are my family as well."

Din's breath got knocked out of him. He was taken aback, not negatively. Hearing the other saying that again filled his stomach with that warm fuzzy feeling. "Thank you."

"There's nothing to thank me for, I should thank you for not being freaked out by me."

"Freaked out?"

"It's been a while since I've been this open with someone. Normally it's- I'm too much for people and they leave. I can breathe around you, and feel. You see me, really see me. Thank you." Luke let his thumb run over the edges of the other's helmet.

"I-" Din didn't know what to say and just placed his hand on the back of other's head his fingers getting tangled in his hair.

They stayed like that for a while. "Luke?" Din wanted to rip off his helmet and kiss him until he was out of breath. He wanted to know what it felt like.

"Yes?" Luke looked at him through his eyelashes. He felt lightheaded not because of the bloodlust but because they were so close, he could see his breath on the other's helmet. He hoped Din would kiss him or make a move.

Din wanted to but he knew he shouldn't. Luke was too important to the galaxy and he already had so much on his plate adding this would be unfair to him. He would be fine watching him from afar, being friends.

"I've got to go to Mandalore soon. You know cause of the whole dark Saber thing and apparently being king now."

"Oh-" Luke sat up clearly disappointed. "Right, if you need help packing let me know." He got up. "I think I should go and rest some more. Good night, Din." Luke left to go into his room sitting on his bed. You are too much. You're always too much.

Din felt bad but knew this was the right thing to do. There's nothing that he could do except bury his feeling for him. He buried it to give the world to the other, to let him thrive.

The next few day's Luke went into what Din called professional mode, being calm and collected and distant like he was in the senate meeting. No big smiles, chuckles, anything.

Thinking he made him uncomfortable Din decided to leave early. So one morning Luke woke up to Din putting his things on his ship.

"Wait you're leaving already?!" Luke looked at him and Din couldn't tell what he was thinking. His eyes were filled with emotions but nothing he could pinpoint.

"Yeah, I was asked to come earlier. I already said goodbye to Grogu. I'll come to visit you two when everything is set up on Mandalore."

"I-" Luke wanted to reach out but pulled his hand back. His face changed back to the polite emotionless facade "Okay, have a safe trip."

"Goodbye, Luke, take care of yourself." Din got in his ship to head out.

The Jedi was just left standing there watching after the ship.

Chapter Text

The next time the two met was six months later at a political meeting on Mandalore. Luke buckled Grogu up. "You're gonna see your dad tomorrow. Are you excited?" I know I'm not.

Grogu nodded and Luke just said his goodbyes to Leia and Han.

"Are you sure, you're okay with going to the meeting?" Leia hugged her brother.

"It is my obligation. I am the representative of the Jedi and it is about time we took care of this century-long conflict. This is political and nothing personal."

"Just call me if you need anything, okay?"

"I promise. You two watch over the younglings okay?"

Han hugged him. "We will."

"Thank you. I got to go, now."

Luke let Grogu play with R2 during the flight. They arrived in the evening and as soon as he stepped out of his ship he felt people staring at him and whispering. Chakaaryc. Di'kut. Di'kutla. He didn't know what the words meant but knew they weren't positive. He just kept his head high and went to the hotel he would be staying at ignoring the nasty things people said about him. When he arrived he let himself fall on the bed exhausted.

"This is awful, Grogu. They hate me, they would never listen to anything I'll say." He took a deep breath. "Just gotta collect myself and my thoughts. Got to calm down. How about you go and play with R2 a bit? I think I got to meditate a bit."

He went onto the balcony of the hotel room and closed his eyes. "You're going to be okay, Luke. Just calm down." As he collected himself he got reminded of the night he and Din were sharing before he left and what he must have done to scare the other off. "Stop, thinking about that. This is business. You are business partners nothing more."

Luke hadn't slept all night but to be fair that was nothing new. He got a pretty good handle on his sleep depreciation. "Grogu, Din organized you a babysitter while I'm gone- No you can't come with me. I'm not discussing this. This is an important political meeting." Someone knocked on the door. "That should be them."

He went to open the door to find Boba Fett. Painful memories of Han's capture ran through his mind. Taking a deep breath he drowned them out. "Can I help you?" His voice and exterior immediately went back into political mode.

"I'm here to look after the child."

"What?"

"Din send me." Boba noticed how uncomfortable the other was. "Look, I'm not going to hurt him. Din trusts me. I thought you trusted him."

"I do, but this is a lot." Luke was cold ignoring his boiling emotions. "I guess I have no other choice. Don't even think about doing something to him or R2 will notify me. If anything happens to my Droid or Grogu you will regret it. Are we clear?"

"Yes." Boba didn't fault him considering they had bad history.

"Good, thank you for looking after him." Luke turned to Grogu. "Behave yourself. I'm gonna be back before you know it, okay?" He left to go to the meeting. When he arrived guards stopped him, talking to each other.

"What is a Jetii doing here?"

"I was called to this meeting by your new King." Luke held up the invitation. "I would appreciate it if you would let me in."

The guards let him in but weren't too happy about it. When Luke got into the meeting room a hundred eyes fell onto him. But he didn't let that bother him as he took a stand at the big table. This was nothing compared to the Senate, way fewer people. He got this. All he needed to do was keep his composure.

The Mandalorians in the room kept talking about him with each other. Many words fell all in a language he didn't understand.

It felt like an eternity until he saw a familiar figure walk into the room. They looked at each other and the tension just got worse.

Luke imagined the balloons flying away and felt better knowing he had the moral support of the force ghosts.

Din felt like he was staring at a stranger. Luke's hair had gotten longer since they last met and there was no happy smile on his face only a small polite one as the Jedi felt distant and cold. Shaking the feeling he began the meeting. After getting through the basic stuff his gaze fixated on the Jedi.

"Now, I know that you all must be wondering what a Jedi is doing here. Well, I invited him because this rivalry has been going on for too long. General Skywalker would you please tell us what the Jedi think about burying the conflict."

Luke looked at him his stomach twisting. "First of all, I would like to thank you for the invitation, your highness." He looked at Din the same way he would look at another official or senator. "After the fall of the empire I have been working on rebuilding the Jedi order and I don't want to repeat old mistakes and harbor old grudges that have nothing to do with the here and now. I am working with the new Republic on making the outer rim a better place to live and we would appreciate the collaboration with the Mandalorians."

A Mandalorian spoke up mocking Luke. "What would a Jetii like you know about the outer rim. Jetiise care about nothing but themselves isn't that your code?"

Din was just about to speak up and defend the other but Luke was faster. "As a matter of fact, I grew up in the outer rim, Tatooine to be exact. My father was a slave until the Jedi rescued him." He took a pause. "I know a great deal of the outer rim. My brother-in-law also originated from there. So I would appreciate it if you keep your comments to yourself as you don't know what you're talking about and you don't know me. Now since you brought up the code I will just recite it for you.

'There is no emotion, there is
Peace
There is no ignorance, there is
Knowledge
There is no passion, there is
Serenity
There is no chaos, there is
Harmony
There is no death, there is
The force'

Even though we live by our code, which doesn't mention not caring about anything, I believe in the importance of family of being able to form bonds with people which is why I have established for the younglings to live with their family during training. Jedi don't deal in absolutes that is the way of the sith. Now if you have paid attention we agree on one important topic which is family. The Jedi and Mandalorians don't need to be enemies when we are similar in a way." There was silence until Luke continued. "We just want peace. I thank you for listening."

The meeting went on by Luke confidently defending his stance, no matter what was thrown at him at the end they decided they would talk about it. So Luke walked out and made his way back to his hotel.

"Thank you for looking after him. Would you do me a favor and bring him to Din? I'm sorry for the wrongs I did to you, like the Sarlacc pit. I guess we were just on opposite sides."

"I am sorry for my involvement in your suffering. Din told me you're a good guy. I guess I had my reservations about you."

"I guess we're even?" Luke smiled offering his hand.

Boba shook it. "Even."

Luke let Boba take Grogu and went to a club. Might as well have some fun while being on the planet. He went to a little bar and started drinking. After a few drinks, he finally felt better leaving his problems behind.

He danced with some people on the dance floor before sitting down at a table downing a glass of whatever when Din came into the bar. "Jetii." He walked over to Luke. "Let's go."

"No." He couldn't really protest as Din led him outside.

"You shouldn't be in clubs like that. People get stabbed in them."

"I'm not Grogu you don't need to babysit me. I'm an adult!"

"Then act like one." Din was annoyed and expected him to keep protesting.

"I'm so sorry." Luke stopped walking looking down.

"What?" Din turned around stopping seeing tears run down the other's cheeks.

"Why did you leave me like that, Din? I'm sorry I don't know what I did to hurt you, to drive you away but I'm so sorry. I never meant to be too much, to push you, or annoy you. I-"

"What you did nothing wrong! You don't need to apologize." Din tried to calm him.

Luke was confused and his regret slowly turned to anger. "Then why did you leave?"

"I had to. It would have been worse the farther this went on." Din tried to reach out to console the other but he just moved away.

Luke hit his hand away. "Don't touch me. What is this? What shouldn't have gone further?"

"You know what. There is nothing that I could have done except bury my feelings for you. I buried my feeling to give the universe to you. You deserve so much more, so much better than I could have ever been."

Luke hit against his chest plate hurting himself in the process. "I don't want the universe or some other shit! I never did- you kriffing idiot. That wasn't your decision to make! I wanted to be with you. We were a family. I thought I hurt you? Did something wrong, but you-"

"You don't want to be with me. You already have so much on your plate. You're too important and-"

"You're important to me! To Grogu- what happened to family?! I thought that was what was most important to you? You know what just leave me alone! I trusted you, opened up to you. Do you know what it was like? The first month I thought you were just busy but after that, I just kept questioning what I've done wrong. What I did to hurt you, to drive you away. Then I got a formal invitation to speak in front of your people. That hurt, not only me but also Grogu. I hate you, Din." Luke turned around and just started walking wiping tears from his eyes. "I'm such a kriffing idiot!"

He hurried down to his hotel leaving Din standing in front of the Club.

The next day Luke was getting ready to leave buckling in Grogu when he got called out of his ship. He politely smiled at Din. "Oh, your majesty." He paused. "Thank you for having me." He regretted blowing off on him last night and the harsh words he threw at him while drunk.

"Luke, wait."

The Jedi was surprised how casually he talked to him considering they were being watched. "Yes?"

"I'm sorry, I should have thought about how what I did would make you feel. I was wrong I'm sorry."

"Din, I-"

"I care about you, a lot. I'm sorry, I'm really bad at all this emotional stuff but I want you to know that you're important to me. I hope you can find it in you to forgive me. I'm not used to people wanting to be around me, especially not people like you, who are good. I- I'm really sorry. I never meant to hurt you."

Luke just walked up to him and Din expected to be hit but the Jedi just pulled him into a hug. "You're an idiot. But I care about you, too and I will forgive you as long as you come to visit me and Grogu and don't ghosts us again."

"I won't I promise."

"You better not or I will come down here and use my space magic on you." Luke grinned at him and they just stared at each other for a while until he cleared his throat. "I would love to stay but I really got to go. I'll call you when I'm home." He kissed the side of the other's helmet and hurried onto his ship taking off.

Din was just left there standing smiling to himself the other Mandalorians were confused.

Luke sat in his X-wing smiling to himself taking off. "He's so kriffing dumb."

They spent the next few weeks texting and Luke sending him holo videos of Grogu's training. One day he even got some spare parts sent to him by Din with the note. 'For your baby.' Luke laughed to himself. R2 beeping in the background. "Shut up, it's not like that." He smiled softly while staring at the handwritten note.

Grogu was back to his happy self as well being ecstatic whenever Din called or send a video back.

Chapter Text

Luke had asked Din to come down to help with Grogu's training. He was waiting for him to land and when he did Grogu ran up to him hugging his legs. "Patuu!"

"Hey there!" Din picked him up. "Did you grow taller?"

Luke walked up to him. "He missed you."

"I missed him too."

"Let's go inside. We got to talk." Luke smiled and led Din into his apartment. While Grogu played with R2 Luke sat down with Din. "Grogu is doing great. He has amazing potential but I can't teach him further without addressing his suppressed memories. There is a way I can do it but he's scared."

"So what do you need me to do?"

"I need to do it with you so he sees that everything will be okay. Basically, we will be sharing our past and emotions with each other." He paused. "I get that this is a lot, really intimate and I'm not sure I'm ready for it either but Grogu needs to see that it's okay."

"I-" Din was scared of the idea of showing the Jedi everything he had done and went through but it was for the kid. "Okay. What do you need me to do?"

Luke called Grogu over and put on a blindfold. "Are you comfortable with taking your helmet off in front of Grogu or should I put one on him?"

"It's fine." Din took off his helmet. "The child has seen me without it before."

"Okay." Luke gently grabbed the other's face and took a deep breath. "Ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be, I guess."

Din closed his eyes and all of a sudden pictures and feelings started flooding his mind. They started as ones from a small child running through his room tinkering with a droid. It was as if he were him.

A man came inside. "Luke! Dinner, Ben is here." The child ran through the door and the scenery changed to a party. He felt himself talk. "Aunt Beru would flip if she know I was here Biggs." A burst of laughter escaped his mouth. The other teenager hit against his shoulder playfully "Aw come on, Wormie. She'll never know."

It clicked for Din he was living moments of Luke's life and feeling them how the Jedi must have felt during them. He saw his failed attempts at relationships, next. The scene changed again with him kneeling infront of a holo message of Leia.

Suddenly the memories' tone started to shift and they started to run by quicker. He saw Luke meeting up with Obi wan. After that he felt tears run down his face as he saw burnt corpses infront of him. He knew who they were and what they meant to the jedi. But most importantly he felt the pain of losing them. Before he could work through that he got thrown in the next memory, freeing Leia and losing obi-wan. The sadness grew heavier until he was hit with the ecstasy of shooting down the Death Star.

He experienced the training on dagobah and suddenly saw Boba and Han frozen in carbon. His mistrust towards Din made so much more sense now. But before he could dwell on that he saw Vader confronting Luke and cutting his hand of. The dread and horror when finding out he was his father. He felt the months of doubt boil in him the pain and the fear Luke felt after that. He found himself freeing Han and handing himself over to Vader. He felt the determination of saving his father and the betrayal and pain when he was lying on the floor being electrocuted and on the bring of death.

His lungs were burning and everything hurt as he was saved by Vader. Din felt Luke's desperation as he dragged his father's body to the ship and held him in his arms one last time as he slipped away. The next few memories were bittersweet. The celebration of winning the war and trying to form the new Republic. The happiness of holding his nephew for the first time and training with his sister.

Then he saw the holovideo of the Jedi's father killing the children and throwing him against the wall. All the fear and pain of having hurt him. Din felt the sadness of feeling like he had wronged him when he saw himself leave for Mandalore. The anxiety of meeting after half a year and the conflicted feelings when meeting Boba.

Luke meanwhile experienced Din's memories, the horrors of war, and seeing the droids killing his friends. He wanted to scream as he sat in the dark waiting for his parents to come back just to feel the dread when a droid opened the doors. Fear filled him before getting rescued by the death watch. He felt safe as they flew of with him. But the next memories he felt himself question the code until settling on this life. He saw the people Din would bring in and him bringing in people cold.

He felt the distance between himself and other people until he was hit by the innate need to protect when he saw Grogu. He felt the dread after leaving him with the client at first before coming back to get him out. Luke felt Din's confusion when seeing the child use the force for the first time and the pain when he found his creed slaughtered and seeing the one droid he trusted destroy himself for the kid.

He saw Ahsoka Tano and the seeing stone waiting for Grogu to finish. Luke felt the fear of thinking he had lost Grogu and the dread when the dark trooper tried to break the door down. He saw himself through Din's eyes as he took off the hood. Luke felt the relief as he heard he could stay with Grogu. He felt the worry Din felt when seeing him eat less and less. The worry when he found him crying, absorbed in the video.

He felt Din's desperate want to help him get through it. The fear when he collapsed and had a seizure and the surprise when he asked him to sleep with him. Luke felt Din's want to protect him and his pain when he found him bleeding out on the floor. The sadness that ran through him when seeing all the old scars knowing what he must have been through.

Luke felt the doubt that made him leave him and the regret when seeing him cry in front of the Club.

They both got pulled out of the memories and found tears running down their cheeks. Din wanted to hold the other close and to make sure nothing bad happened to him ever again. "Luke, I-"

Luke just pulled him into a hug. He held him close. Tears ran down his cheeks.

Grogu touched them looking worried. Din just pet his head. "It's alright, kid. We're okay and safe."

Luke felt like they now shared a special bond knowing the pain and the happiness they went through. He held Din's face in his hands. He leaned his hand against the other and felt like there were no words to be said between them. They understood.

Din didn't need to see Luke's eyes to know that they were thinking and feeling the same thing right now.

The Jedi picked up the youngling. "See it's safe. Now you little bed Bug got to get some sleep we'll train tomorrow." He tucked Grogu in before returning to Din with drinks in his hand. "Are you okay with Vodka?"

"Yeah."

Luke sat down pouring them their drinks and took a long sip. "Are you alright?"

"I don't know." Din drank as well. "What about you?"

"I just wish I could've been there done something and-"

"You're here now."

"I guess you're right." Luke chuckled. "I hope you don't think less of me now and-"

"Less of you? I am amazed you're still here and still so good after all you went through. You're amazing."

"Speak for yourself." Luke hit his arm. "Thanks though."

Din stayed the night. There wasn't much to talk about so they just enjoyed each other's company. Luke eventually leaned against him laughing as he was tipsy. "Thank you, Din."

"For what?"

"Trusting me and sharing your past with me." He paused. "And for not leaving me."

"Thank you, for doing the same."

Din left the next day and Luke felt a pain in his chest when he left.

Chapter Text

Din was unsure how he got into this dilemma but he found himself bound up and beaten up badly. It has been less than a day since he left Luke's place. Someone didn't like them forming an alliance with the Jedi and wanted him gone at least that's what he's gathered. Thoughts were running through his mind trying to listen to the sounds above to find out where he was.

He tried his best to stay optimistic but he was outnumbered and had lost any advantage he might have had. That was until he heard something behind him. Carefully he tried to look around but failed only hurting himself more.

"Shh, it's okay it's just me," Luke spoke in a hushed voice and came out of hiding. "I had to make sure that no one else was in here."

"Luke? How-"

"Space magic. I'll tell you about it later." Luke smiled at him softly. "Let's get you out of here. Can you stand up?" He cut him free.

Din tried to stand up but stumbled forwards where Luke caught him with ease. "Lean against me I got you."

They quietly left the room only to run in a big group of reprogrammed droids. Luke quickly but carefully pushed Din behind himself and started deflecting the blaster shoots before force pushing the droids into the wall hard enough to incapacitate them.

He hurried around them to the next corridor where they were greeted by the Mandalorians that had captured Din. Quickly he put Din in a corner and jumped forward trying to knock them out instead of slicing at them with his lightsaber. But when one of them nearly shot him he had to cut off his arm.

Din couldn't do much but when he saw some more arriving at the opposite side of the corridor he called out to him. "Luke! Behind you!"

The Jedi wiped around to face them quickly grabbing one of the knocked-outs Mandalorians blasters shooting one of the foe before running up to the other who wielded a spear. They countered each other before Luke quickly gained the upper hand knocking the man out as well.

"Drop your weapon, Jetii." A woman held Din up a blaster against his neck, just at the right spot to get through his helmet.

Luke turned around and complied. "Look, you're mad about me right?"

"I guess."

"Take me and let him go. Just don't hurt him."

"Luke don't-"

Luke stepped closer putting his hands in the air. "I'll come with you and won't retaliate. Just let him go."

The woman grabbed the Jedi and threw Din away. Luke discreetly made the fall less harsh. The woman held her blaster against his head. But Luke just ducked and kicked her feet out of under her. He made the whole fake deal in order to get Din out of danger. While she was on the floor he retrieved his lightsaber holding it against her neck just close enough that she could feel the heat.

"The King of Mandalore is now officially under my protection and if anyone dares to hurt him they will meet the same fate as your droids and men." He looked down at her. "This is a warning and I will not repeat myself." He stepped away and force pushed any weapons out of her range so that she would not try to attack them again. After that, he gently kneeled down next to Din. "Let's go. We have to take a look at your wounds."

Din made a note never to piss him off. He was taken aback for a moment he felt the same way, way back when the Jedi made short work of the dark stormtroopers. Sometimes he forgot how powerful Luke really was. "Yeah."

They left Luke holding din up. When he made it to the medical facilities the other Mandalorians held him at gunpoint probably assuming that the Jedi had done this.

Din mustered himself up. "Don't shoot. He didn't do anything. He saved me."

"And I'm here to get him medically checked."

They were escorted to a room where Luke was supposed to wait. But he had other plans. "I'm not leaving his side. There was an assassination attempt on him once and I won't risk it again."

"But, sir-"

"No, I'm going with him."

So they eventually got into a room with droids operating. They started at his chest taking off his armor there.

"You scared me, Din." Luke held the other's hand.

Din looked at him sad not to see his usual smile on his face. "I'm sorry, mesh'la." Did he really just say that? Probably the blood loss talking. But to be fair the other was gorgeous.

"What does that-"

"How did you know I was in trouble?" Din deflected.

Luke looked at his hands. "I had a nightmare or rather vision about you getting hurt badly and-" He cut himself off. "I had them before and they turned out to be true so I just wanted to check up on you to make sure you're alright."

Most of the wounds had been taken care of the only thing left was the helmet. So, Luke grabbed his blindfold. Just as he was about to put it on Din grabbed his hand and stopped him.

"Don't. It's okay."

"Are you sure? I don't want to overstep boundaries. I don't want you to regret it."

"No, I want you to see me." Din let the droid take off the helmet his heart pounding.

Luke was stunned he had too many emotions run through him. He was still upset and uneasy about the other's condition but all of that got knocked out of him when he saw the other's face. Without realizing it he reached out carefully placing his hand on the other's cheek.

"I-" He tried to speak up but just leaned his head against the others. "Thank you for trusting me."

"Thank you for rescuing me." Din smiled while the med droid shushed Luke away so that he could continue fixing him up.

Luke just chuckled but never moved his eyes away from Din's face. He waited until the drone was done. "Will he be okay?"

"Yes, but he has to rest. It will take time."

"I'll make sure he rests Thank you." Luke put his head on Din's chest. "Why do you have to worry me like that?"

"I worry you? I'm not the one who just jumps in rescuing people without a plan."

"I had a plan. Fight our way out." Luke held Din's hand. "Honestly there wasn't much time to figure out a plan."

"Thank you again. I am in your debt."

"It's fine, remember when you helped me sober up or when you patched me up?" Luke smiled and they just looked at each other for a while. "I'll organize bodyguards for you but until then I will stay by your side."

"Luke, you don't have to."

"Yes, I do."

"You have more important issues on hand like training the young Jedi and-"

"I'm not leaving you. Han and Leia are looking after them and I gave them Homework. We got to focus on keeping you safe."

"But-"

"No buts. Now try to get some rest. I'll make sure no one comes in." Luke kissed him on the forehead. He kept holding his hand waiting until he fell asleep to call his sister.

"Luke?! Where are you when I went to drop off Ben you were gone with only a note saying and I quote: 'brb' as well as some at-home training for the younglings."

Before Luke could answer he heard Han in the background. "Is that the kid?! Put him on speaker." There was a short pause until Han continued. "Where are you? Do you need help or-"

"I'm fine. It's Din some of his people didn't agree with his decisions and kidnapped him wanting to kill him probably. Look I'm sorry for leaving like that but it was serious."

"How did you even know that? Was it the force, it was the force, right? Look kid just because it tells you to do something doesn't mean you should run headfirst into danger."

"Han, I'm sorry but you should be the last person to give out advice like that. Look like I said I'm fine, really. I was wondering if the senate might have some soldiers or trained personal to spare as bodyguards."

Leia sighed heavily. "You and Han will be the death of me. I'll check tomorrow, okay? When are you coming back because the senate is on my back about you leaving like that."

"When bodyguards for Din arrive, until then I'll stay by his side. I'm sorry."

"Do you need help, Han and I could come to you?"

"No, I'm fine thank you. Could you send Grogu over? I bet Din would be happy to see him."

"Sure thing. Be careful and don't overdo it like you always do."

"I promise."

Luke hadn't left Din's side. He was tired but he didn't mind. Grogu was sleeping in his lap when Din woke up again. "Hey, there. How are you?"

"Morning, mesh'la." Din was still a bit groggy.

"It's evening already. You slept through the last 3 days." Luke gently placed his hand on the other's forehead. "Your temperature has gone down that's good. I was scared you might have gotten an infection."

"I'm alright. When did the kid get here?"

"I asked Leia to send him over because I thought you might want to see him." Luke looked down at Grogu. "He was really worried. I'm glad he was able to fall asleep."

"What about you, mesh'la? You look tired." Din sat up and smiled at Luke. His hand touched the other's cheek.

"I'm alright. You should worry about yourself, Din." The Jedi leaned against the other's touch. "You have to teach me your language someday. I want to know what you keep calling me."

"Uh-sure." Din felt himself get red. So he changed the subject. "What about Jedi training?"

"My sister can manage the younglings. I taught her some time ago. You're more important right now." Luke put his hand on Din's holding it gently. "You're important to me you know? You are family."

"You should still rest."

"I'm not leaving your side until the bodyguards get here."Luke smiled.

Din shuffled to the side making room next to himself. "Sleep here then."

"I couldn't-"

"Come on, you need the sleep. And we shared our past and memories. This us nothing next to that."

Luke looked unsure but felt himself get tired. So he eventually laid down next to him holding Grogu in his arms. He was turned away from Din to hide his blushing face. But after he fell asleep he turned around and Din felt his breath against his chest.

The Mandalorian put his arm around him. What was he supposed to do with him? With someone that was so dedicated to him? Din sighed and just held him close. He was a loner but ever since Grogu came into his life he felt like his small found family grew larger every time he met someone.

Luke cuddled against him his hair tickling the other's chin. Was he allowed to lie with him like that? Is this a normal non-mandalorian thing? Is it a normal friend thing? Din felt warm and gently kissed the other on the head before falling asleep again.

When he woke up Luke was still asleep. He must have not slept a lot the last few days. Grogu was awake and laying on Din's side. "Patuu!" He looked worried and reached out to heal him.

Din just gently put down his hand and shushed him. "I'm fine but Luke is still sleeping. Let's not wake him."

Grogu nodded and cuddled up between his teacher and Din. The Mandalorian heard someone coming and carefully put in his helmet trying not to wake him. When he had it on, he allowed them in but immediately gestured to them to be quiet.

It was Leia who had come with two bodyguards for Din. When she saw her brother a soft smile formed on her face. "I told him bot to overdo it."

Din was sitting up the Jedi still hugging his waist. "Did Luke send you?"

"Yes. He asked me to get you bodyguards but I guess we should wait until he wakes up. Can you call for me when he is awake?"

"Sure." Din smiled to himself. This must look so weird. "By the way I just let him sleep here because he was adamant about not leaving my side this isn't anything weird."

Leia chuckled and gently let her hand run through her brother's hair. "He looks exhausted. I'm glad you got him to sleep." She smiled at Din before leaving with the bodyguards.

Din let Luke rest until he woke up by himself. He was disoriented and looked around scared until his gaze fell on Din.

"Did you sleep well, mesh'la?" Din gently smiled at him tugging some stray hairs away from his face.

Luke smiled up at him. "How long was I asleep?"

"You slept the day away. Grogu was starting to get worried." Din reached for his helmet putting it back on before calling the Jedi's sister.

Leia came in with the two bodyguards. "I told you to not overwork yourself and how do I find you? Sleeping like you're dead because you overdid yourself." She shook her head.

Luke got up, getting of Din's bed and the Mandalorian felt sad at the warmth leaving his side. "I'm sorry. Are those the bodyguards I requested?"

Leia gave him a nod.

"And they are not compromised?"

"No."

Luke went up to them. "If anything happens to him while you are on duty you have to answer to me." He warned them. "I trust you. Please don't disappoint me."

The bodyguards nodded and Luke went back to Din putting his forehead against the others. "I have to leave you now. Will you be okay?"

"Yes, thank you mesh'la."

Luke kissed him on his helmet and picked up Grogu. "Call me if you need help and I will come to you. Take care of yourself."

"You, too, and get some sleep." Din smiled and watched them leave.

Leia looked at her brother grinning. "So, are you two a thing now."

"No? What are you talking about? I would do the same for Han or Lando you know that."

"Yeah." She got into her ship and smirked at her brother as he buckled into his. "But you do know that forehead touching is an intimate gesture in his culture right?"

Before Luke could say anything she took off he went beat red, immediately taking off after her. "It is what?!"

"So you didn't know? He never said anything?" They got into Luke's X-wing leaving the ship Leia arrived on for the bodyguards.

"No!" Luke was flustered much to his sister's amusement. He buckled Grogu in. "Would you like to go out tonight? I feel like partying with my favorite sister."

"I'm your only sister."

"Don't see how that invalidates my statement."

Meanwhile, Din was getting up, really wanting to shower when his friends came in. Boba just stared at him blankly. "So, when we're you gonna tell us that you're fucking the jetii?"

"What?!"

"It's so obvious. Like he wouldn't let anyone into your room the whole time you were out." Bo Katan just shrugged. "How are you gonna explain it to your people, that you are screwing the enemy?"

Din got up fed up with the accusations. "First of all you know I didn't want this position I wanted to give you the Saber but you told me no. Secondly Luke is not the enemy and I am not sleeping with him. We are good friends and he's the kids' teacher." He felt his cheeks go red.

"You called him mesh'la." Cara chimed in. "Isn't that calling him a pretty boy?"

"It's beautiful and he is. Come on have you seen his boots?" Din paused for a second. "Can't a guy call his fellow guy friend beautiful? Look he saved me, that's it."

"So you're not sleeping together, fine." Boba crossed his arms. "But you totally want to."

Luke was laying in his bed thinking about the other. He found himself doing that a lot after they shared their memories with each other. He still had to do it with Grogu but the whole Din getting attacked thing occupied his thoughts. Seeing him hurt made Luke want to throw up.

He smiled to himself picturing his face. Why did he have to be so handsome? Urgh. Stupid hot Mando dilf. Luke sat up and got ready for Jedi training. He went to his school and let the parents drop off their kids when a woman stopped him.

"Oh, hey Ydra!" Luke smiled at her. "Can I help you?"

"I was just wondering if everything is alright? You seem distracted lately. If you want to we can talk about it over a cup of coffee."

Luke thought for a moment. "That sounds really nice actually. Thank you."

"Of course I'll get back here when Dev is ready with training." She smiled before leaving. "Later."

Luke went inside. The younglings were chatting with each other. A smile spread across the Jedi's mouth.

When they were done Luke met up with Ydra at a small cafe. "Your son is amazing, you know."

"Thank you, I know I cherish him a lot. He keeps talking about how excited he is to go to Jedi training."

"I would like to take him with me on missions, of course only non-dangerous ones. But he far exceeds the other younglings because of his age and because you trained him before. I feel like with a bit of hands-on training and experience I could train him with you and Leia."

"That sounds great. Just make sure Dev is safe and I would be okay with it."

"I will."

"So, you wanna talk about yourself now?"

Luke sighed and leaned back taking a sip of coffee. "I've just been so worried about Din."

"The Mand'alor?"

"Yeah, we're close friends. His son, Grogu is in Devs class. He was attacked recently. I know, he has bodyguards now but I still worry."

"You do sound close. He must mean a great deal to you."

"He does. I know everything about him and He about me. We shared our memories." Luke stared in his cup. "I really like him and just want to know that he's okay."

"Sounds like you like him more than a friend." Ydra smiled knowingly. "Why are you fighting it?"

"I don't know. He's my friend and I don't want to ruin that. On top of that, he's the Mandalorian king he has enough to worry about." Luke paused. "I'm scared of people hurting him to get to me as they did with Leia and Han." He looked away not wanting to think about that.

"Well, that's a lot but at the same time so dumb. You won't know what will happen if you don't try and you'll be able to be closer to him and protect him better when you get your emotions sorted out. Just try it."

"But the Senate will not approve-"

"Is it the senators' life or yours? Stop trying to appease everyone cause you can't."

Meanwhile, Din was in a meeting having to explain himself. Everyone was talking over him until Boba hit the table loudly. "One at a time."

"So, even after what happened you will still have the alliance with the Jetiise." A Mandalorian spoke up.

"Yes, I believe it's the right thing to do. We can help each other."

Bo Katan frowned but didn't say anything still liking Din. But another woman spoke up. "Aren't you biased? I mean you and that jetii seem close."

"My Personal relationship with Skywalker has nothing to do with my decision. We are friends."

Din had to keep defending his stance and he hated all this political stuff. He just wanted to go back to living on Dagobah in Luke's holiday home like the first few weeks. It had been so peaceful and nice. Just hanging out with Grogu and the Jedi master. After the meeting, he got a call from Luke asking if he could come down during the weekend.

"Sure, how's Grogu?"

"He's awesome, though he got into some trouble with the other kids. But it's fine, Ben helped him." Luke chuckled. "They've grown really close."

"Oh lord, I'm so sorry that he's getting into trouble, mesh'la-"

"It's fine. I think he just misses you." Luke paused for a second. "I miss you too."

"Oh- Well guess I should come and visit him then." Din felt himself smile.

Luke beamed at him through the holo call. "How are you? Did anyone give you trouble?"

"No, I think you scared them shit less." Din chuckled.

"That's good to hear. I've been really worried. Din, I-"

"Patuu!" Grogu jumped up in Luke's arm to look at Din through the hologram.

"Hey, there kid." Din smiled at Grogu and waved. He watched him wave at him before seeing Ben start to climb up Lyke too.

The Jedi tried to balance himself out. "Be careful." A laugh escaped his mouth as he felt Ben settle on his shoulder.

"Is that Din? Hey!" Ben held onto Luke's head.

"Hey, kid."

"Can I come with Grogu to Mandalore, next time?" Ben was getting excited.

"Sure thing. Talk with your dad about it first though. Not sure if he would be happy about it."

Luke smiled warmly loving seeing the other interact with his family. "I can convince him, don't you worry." He tried to recall the other's face, his kind demeanor, and his facial structure. "Can't wait to see you, this weekend."

"I'll be over as fast as I can, mesh'la."

The Jedi was totally smitten by him and stayed on call longer than he intended to. Leia picked up the kids in the middle of the call, her brother watching Din intently and giggling like a teenage girl with a crush. "Hey, Din. How are the bodyguards?"

"Nice, they don't bug me and respect my personal space. Thank you for sending them over."

Leia smiled and winked at him. "Gotta keep my brother's boyfriend save." She left only hearing her brother yell after her.

Din just chuckled finding their relationship amusing. "So, boyfriend?"

"I don't know where she got that from!" Luke felt himself get red. "She is just trying to annoy me."

"I know, don't worry. Boba is doing the same thing to me."

"Man, I still feel bad about the Sarlacc Pit-"

"Hey, he put your friend in carbon and fought against you. It's fine. I think he just finds it a bit awkward."

"It is! You could have warned me that you sent him over to babysit Grogu." Luke frowned. "But I'll forgive you if you go partying with me this weekend."

"So, I can drag your drunk ass to bed again?"

"You could drink too? We could funnel a straw through your helmet!"

Din chuckled. "I don't think that will work but I can still come with you and enjoy myself." He just thought about watching Luke having fun and honestly, that was worth it.

The Jedi leaned back and stretched. "Okay, then it's a deal!"

"I would love to stay and talk longer but I gotta go."

"Okay, see you!" Luke beamed at him and when the Mandalorian hang up he dropped onto a chair. "I'm so screwed."

Chapter Text

Din parked his ship and got out immediately being welcomed by Leia and Han. "Hey, Luke asked me to pick you up. He said he wanted to get ready." She chuckled. "We'll babysit Grogh tonight. He'll sleep at our place with Ben."

"Oh, thank you." Din smiled politely still feeling a bit out of place that was until Leia just pulled him in a hug.

"It's good to see you save. Luke has been so worried."

Han rolled his eyes. "He never shuts up about you."

Din pet Leia's back being overwhelmed. "Thank you?"

They went to Luke's apartment who opened the door wearing a gold sparkling suit (look it up he looks hot). "Din!" He pulled him into a hug. "Are you ready?"

Din just stared at him. His outfit was out there but damn did the Jedi look stunning in it. "Eh, yeah?"

"The gold outfit?" Leia looked at her brother. "You got to change. It's so tacky."

"I have never been so insulted by family!"

"Vader cut off your hand-"

"Never! Din tell her I look hot." Luke turned to the Mandalorian.

Han just chuckled, enjoying the show.

Din felt overwhelmed again. "I like it. You look really nice."

Luke kissed the side of his helmet. "Thank you." He looked at his sister. "See, at least someone has taste. Remember to give Grigu his dinner and don't let him stay awake for too long or he'll be a little brat tomorrow." He took Din's hand. "We'll be going now."

They made their way out Luke still holding his hand. Din didn't really mind he liked it. "So, how was your meeting recently? I saw something about it in the news."

"Oh, it was exhausting. They just kept asking about you. I am so glad to be here right now!" Din sighed.

Luke just gave the other's hand a quick squeeze. "I'm glad you're here, too." A smile spread over his face as they made their way inside the bar. He ordered himself something to drink and a straw.

"Luke-"

"Shh, I wanna try if it works." When he got the drink he gave the straw to Din. "Come on, trying never hurt anyone."

Luke carefully tried to pull the straw through his helmet his hand getting stuck. "Shit, well guess you were right." He chuckled awkwardly.

"I told you so, mesh'la. As if I never tried that before." Din took the other's hand and slowly maneuvered it out.

"Sorry, heh. My bad." Luke kept holding his hand and took a sip from his drink. They found a little table and sat down.

After a while and a few drinks on the Jedi's part. He felt like dancing. So he got up and into the crowd dancing along to the music.

Din just kept watching him. He was the life of the party dancing with a group of girls and talking to them. Seeing him so happy and carefree was fun and made his heart flutter. He wasn't sure how long he had been watching him but the Jedi turned around looking at him.

Luke mentioned for him to come over and beamed at him. Din shook his head. He wasn't really a dancer. That was until the other pulled him up and held his hands again laughing.

"Come on, it'll be fun I promise!"

Din couldn't resist the Jedi had him tied around his finger. His laugh undid him fully. "Okay, one song." As soon as he said that the other pulled him with him. Even though he didn't know how to dance it was fun because of the other.

Luke just moved with him and made it feel so natural. He wasn't much for dancing but for him, he did because he just loved to see him happy. He was so screwed.

"See, I was right about this-" The Jedi stumbled forwards against the other chuckling. Din held him steady and he just stared at his helmet thinking about how his face looked and how much he would love to kiss it right now. He felt himself blush.

Just then a couples song played with an announcement that it was couple's night. Din wondered if Luke knew that but before he could question it any further the other put his arms around his neck.

"One more song?" Luke looked at him through his eyelashes smiling coyly. "Please."

"Sure." Din carefully put his arms around the other's waist unsure if he was allowed to do that but when he saw the other's smile he just held him close.

They began dancing slowly and Luke put his head on the other's shoulder starting to get tired from their outing and just enjoying the other being so close. They stayed like that till the song ended and the music picked up the pace again not wanting to bum out the singles.

"Let's sit down again, mesh'la." Din moved away but kept his hand on the other's waist.

"Yeah. You go ahead I'll get myself a drink." Luke kissed the side of his helmet. "I'll be there in a second."

"Okay." Din sat down his eyes following Luke.

They sat for a while and Luke kept drinking until he took a quick toilet break. While he was gone a girl came up to Din flirting with him. Uninterested Din turned her down. So she got personal calling him a freak and insulting him.

"What did you just call him?!" Luke came back just then. "Fight me!" He went up to her.

"Luke, don't." Din held him back.

"And who is that? Your freak boyfriend? He doesn't even know how to dress!"

"Okay, that's it. Let me at her Din! I will destroy you like I destroyed the death star!"

Din just kept holding him back. The girl chuckled turning around to leave.

"At least I don't wear fake designer boots and try to pass them off as real!" He still tried to hit her. The girl looked back at him angry, like he just hit the nail on the head, and left to dance with her friends. Luke just moved his hand slightly making all of them spill their drink on her. Happy with himself he settled down. Din looked at him knowing he did that.

"Luke."

"What she was a bitch." He smirked at him. "Come on let's go home."

"Sure." Din went outside with him after the Jedi paid for his drinks. The night air was cold and refreshing. Luke spread his arms spinning around himself a few times.

"I love the night." He chuckled grabbing Din's hands. "It's so quiet like everyone is asleep except for us."

"I never thought about it." Din was looking at him and his darn smile, being completely mesmerized.

The Jedi just stared at him smiling brightly and feeling so at home with him there. "Thanks for coming with me." He squeezed his hands lightly. "I really enjoyed spending time with you again."

"I did too. It was fun."

"I missed you."

"I missed you too."

Luke kissed the side of his helmet before starting to walk, still holding one of his hands. He walked close to him looking at the sky.

"It's a shame you can't see the stars that well here. On Dagobah, you could see the colors in the sky at night that's why I chose the place. But the lights of the city are nice too all of them having a story of their own. Maybe it's a family tucking their kids in or an elderly couple enjoying a nice evening."

Din loved the way the other saw things, seeing the beauty in them, seeing the beauty in him. He swore to himself to try and do the same, to try and not assume the worst of things. But he couldn't help it.

They made their way to Luke's apartment. The Jedi unlocked the door for them. "Do you want a drink?"

"Sure."

Luke poured them something. "Should I put on the blindfold or is it okay?"

"It's okay." Din closed the door before slowly taking off his helmet. He was fine with the other seeing him. It was actually relieving to take it off once in a while. He still believed in his beliefs but he was comfortable around the other.

Luke went to get them something to drink and sat down with him. He leaned against Din, just wanting him close. They kept drinking until both of them were drunk. "So, your people are asking about me?"

The Mandalorian sighed and took a swing of his drink. "Yeah, they asked if I still wanted to pursue the alliance and after saying yes to that they kept insisting how I was biased."

"I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have stayed at your side like that." Luke put his hand on his chest looking up at him only being inches away. "I didn't think it would bring you problems like that."

"It's fine mesh'la. I guess they're right I am a little bit biased but I also believe in your vision."

"I believe in you." Luke etched a bit closer leaning his forehead against the others.

Din moved even closer nearly kissing him but looking away at the last second. He had never kissed anybody and probably sucked at it.

"Sorry, didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I didn't-" The Jedi pulled away dreading that he overstepped the other's boundaries.

"It's not you. I just don't really have any experience-"

Luke took his hands. "Just follow my lead."

"Okay." Din felt his breath knocked out of him when the other moved in closer.

The Jedi stopped just in front of the other. "Is this okay?" One of his hands gently caressed the other's cheek.

"Yeah."

Din felt the other kiss him gently and just copied his movement. He was glad that it felt so natural. Soon their kisses started getting more heated with Luke climbing on his lap. It surprised Din but he didn't complain. He found the other extremely hot and getting to make out with him was nice.

The Mandalorian kissed his neck being in tune with the other and paying attention to what he liked and how he reacted. He let his hands get tangled in his blonde locks gently pulling at them, which was something the other definitely liked.

They made out for a while until the Jedi started to become a mess as the other kissed and gently bit his neck. He moaned and bucked his hips on the other's leg before starting to fidget with the other's armor trying to get it off.

Din caught on and started to undress much to the other's delight. His body ran on lust and the ecstasy of hearing the other enjoy himself. "Are you sure?"

"Yes." Luke kissed him not leaving much room for interpretation. "Are you?"

Din just nodded kissing his neck again. He felt the other feel him up and stare at him as if he was taking in every sensation of him. Luke's thoughts got interrupted when the other found an extremely sensitive spot on his neck and bit it. "Ah- Din-" The Jedi moaned arching his back and bucking his hips. "Don't stop." He let his head fall against the others, as the Mandalorian had one of his hands move into the other's pants.

Chapter Text

Din woke up with a headache. When he wanted to sit up he noticed the Jedi cuddling against him, his head on his chest. Confused he tried to recall last night's events and got beet red. Did we? He checked to look down at himself. Oh god, we did.

Luke was still fast asleep looking at peace. The other just stared at him gently letting his hand run through his hair. Was he allowed to do that? Images of last night kept rushing through his mind. The other's arched back and his mouth open moaning loudly. The images of the Jedi losing himself. His eyes hooded as he was high on Lust and moaning his name. Images he would love to see again to hear him again. Din was happy Grogu was at Leia's place. While he was lost in thought, Luke started to wake up.

The Jedi cuddled closer to him as he woke up. Where was he? He looked around his eyes meeting Dins. His cheeks got red realizing what they did last night. He could still feel the other's fingers digging in his skin, his teeth against his neck. Unsure what to do he gave the other an awkward smile. "Morning."

"Morning." Din felt the tension in the air. It felt as if they did something wrong. But why would it have been wrong? "This is weird right?"

"Yeah." Luke sat up. "Look, I'm really sorry for overstepping boundaries I was drunk, and drunk me is a handful, more than I already am. Just- I am really sorry if I made you uncomfortable or-"

"Luke, it's fine." Din took his hands to stop him from fidgeting. "You didn't overstep anything. We were both drunk and I'm sorry for not keeping a leveled head. I just hope you don't regret this too much and-"

"Regret this?" Luke looked at him confused. "I don't regret it, Din. Look it's no secret I tend to sleep around so this isn't something new. I just hope this doesn't make our relationship weird?"

"I won't make it weird I promise. Still good friends?"

"Great friends." Luke gave him a kiss on the cheek. He glanced at the time. "I think I'll take a quick shower before Leia brings Grogu over." He pulled on his boxers and grabbed some spare clothes before heading to the bathroom.

Din looked after him seeing the marks he left on his body and falling back onto the bed suffocating himself and a scream with a pillow. "I'm an idiot." He whispered to himself. "Stil good friends? Who says that?!" He hated himself for wanting to see the other like he did last night, to make him feel good. "Get your shit together." His mind kept playing the events of last night over and over again.

Luke on the other hand looked at himself in the mirror tracing over the bruises on his body. Kriff. The other drove him insane. He was the best one-night stand he had, probably because of his massive crush on him. But also because the other cared about him. He went into the shower to cool down.

When the Jedi got back to the other the Mandalorian had already gotten dressed and cleaned the room as well as opened a few windows. He was in the kitchen making something to eat. "Scrambled eggs right?" He turned around a soft smile on his face.

"Yeah, thanks." Luke sat down. "Can I help you? I might not be a good cook but with some instructions, I might be able to help."

"Sure, could you put stir the pancake mixture?"

Luke did as he was told and they were weirdly at ease. That was until Din came up behind him to show him how to fold the batter in. His breath on the Jedi's neck reminded him of his lips tracing the scars. He felt his breath hitch and grip tighten as Din explained what to do when suddenly the orange juice glasses burst.

"Oh, Kriff!" Luke turned around. "Sorry, let me clean this up." He kneeled down and began picking up the shattered glass.

Din felt his hands relax as he had been extremely tense as well. He took a quick breath before pulling Luke up. "Don't pick up the glass with your bare hands. You'll hurt yourself."

"Sorry, you're right." Luke dropped the shards and got a broom. He cleaned the mess just in time when Leia arrived. She brought the whole family as well as an array of food.

Han hugged the Jedi. "Hey kid, thought we could all eat together."

Grogu ran up to Din and got picked up. They all sat down at the table and started eating.

"So, did you guys have fun yesterday?" Leia asked innocently while Luke choked on his coffee.

"No!" The Jedi blurted out before shaking off his thoughts. "I mean yeah. It was nice."

His family just looked at them weird but just assumed Luke did something dumb while drunk, that was until Ben pointed to the bruises. "Did you fall?"

Din had never been happier to wear a helmet because he went red immediately. Luke didn't have that luxury though and coughed almost choking again. "Y-Yeah. The club had some tricky stairs Din had to help me." He kicked the Mandalorian to come to his aid.

"Yeah, your uncle fell. It was dark and somebody had spilled their drink on the stairs."

Leia looked at them knowingly while being a tad bit shocked. "You did not, did you?"

"That guy?!" Han was less subtle but subtle enough that the kids didn't know. "I can't believe this."

Luke made something fall over outside. "Oh no, Din come and help me real quick."

Din nodded and they went outside.

"This is so uncomfortable. I am so sorry for my family!"

"It's fine."

"It's not. I swear I am so sorry." They stayed outside for a bit until coming back Din getting his stuff to head off. He quickly hugged the other before flying back.

Luke's friends kept nagging him and for the next few day's he couldn't get that night out of his head that was until he got an invite to a party from Din. Apparently, there was a Mandalorian holiday that they celebrated and he and Grogu were invited. So his mind switched to panic about how he could make a good impression.

Chapter Text

Din hoped the Party wouldn't be too awkward for Luke after all most of the Mandalorians weren't the nicest. Then again Din wasn't either but the other didn't mind.

The two hadn't seen each other since that morning. Luke took hours to get ready and was almost there. "Fashionably late I guess." He sighed looking at the time. "We should just turn around. I bet they didn't even notice we're not there."

"Oh, they did." Obi-wan showed up next to him.

"Kriff! What did I tell you about not scaring the shit out of me?!" Luke looked at him annoyed before his face softened. "It's good to see you. What do you mean?"

"Oh, Din noticed. He's worried you might find the whole ordeal too weird."

"Good thing I'm nearly there, then."

"Do you love that man?"

"What?"

"I just want to say don't get too attached and-"

Obi-wan got interrupted by Anakin. "Hey! Don't feed that crap to my kid!" They started fighting and Luke tuned them out finally landing and dropping R2 off at Din's place before making his way into the party, Grogu sitting on his shoulders.

The Jedi looked up to the child ignoring the stares. "Let's find your dad, you little Goblin." He made his way through the crowd and after a while found him. Excited he beamed at him and waved him over. They met and Luke hugged him. "Hey!"

"Hey, mesh'la, you seem happy." Din smiled back at him ignoring the people around him as the other caught all his attention. "I missed you."

"I missed you too. Thanks for inviting me." Luke felt at home around him and all the nervousness had just left his body.

Din held his hands while grogu climbed over on his shoulders. "Of course. This holiday is all about family."

Luke felt touched. He knew they were close but sharing his culture with him like that made his knees weak.

They hang out for a while catching up on whatever the other was doing while they were apart until Boba came over. "Oh, hey, didn't know you'd invite the Jetii."

"Hey." Luke smiled at him trying to be nice as they did say they were even. But he couldn't ignore the awkward tension. "How have you been?"

"Pretty good. I've been living in Jabba's old Palace but come to visit Djn ever so often." He looked at Grogu. "Hey, there little one!" Boba picked up the child and went off with him.

"So, King of Mandalore, may this lowly Jedi have a dance." Luke smiled at him extending his hand.

"The Jedi should know I don't really dance."

"But for him, you will." Luke pulled him into the crowd with him. "You already did once."

"Well, that's true." Din chuckled and let the other guide him to the dance floor which had been pretty empty until Luke pulled him there and started to dance with him.

Luke laughed and pulled other people in as well, including Bo Katan and Cara. He kept trying to get back to Din to dance with him but got wrapped in by other people even dancing with Boba for a while which was awkward as hell. But he had the time of his life, sure there were still people who would prefer to not have him there but some were even dancing with him.

Eventually, Din got ahold of the Jedi pulling him close as they danced. They spun around until the song ended with Luke leaning his forehead against the other. Some people clapped and with that Din had to go on stage to give a speech.

Luke got Grogu back from Boba and held him while listening to it.

"Hello, all of you. I am not really good at this whole thing. But I just wanted to say a few words. These past months have been challenging but equally rewarding. Thank you all for doing your best in helping me rebuild Mandalore. This Holiday is about family and I want you all to thank your family, your creed for being with you through thick and thin. If you don't have people you consider family, don't fret. This is the perfect opportunity to find them. I have found my family and I could not be happier with it. So thank you all for supporting me and being with me."

His gaze fell upon the Jedi. "I truly appreciate you and don't know where I would be without you. Thank you so much for coming. This is the way." He decided to end his speech with the crowd clapping and repeating his last sentence back to him.

Luke smiled at him brightly clapping as well and hugging him when he got down. "That was such a nice speech. Not good at it my ass." He laughed.

"Come on, Mesh'la. Let me show you something." Din took his hand and took him to a corner where people were painting on each other's armor. "They paint each other as a symbol of their family."

"That's really cute. I like your traditions." Luke smiled.

Din made them sit down. "Will you let me paint on you?"

"Din, I couldn't this seems really intimate and personal." Luke was unsure.

"It's fine, like I said before you're my family."

"Okay." Luke was so happy hearing him say that. He sat still while the other took off his gloves and dipped his fingers in the paint.

Din started letting his fingers glide over the other's face. His thumbs gently moved over the other's lips. Grogu got interested as well and made his dad help him put a hand mark on his teacher.

Luke just chuckled feeling so weirdly connected to the two. When he was done the Jedi looked at himself in Din's armors reflection. The other had drawn a mudhorn on his cheek, like the one impeded on his armor. Luke gave him a kiss on the forehead before pulling him down so he could draw on his helmet. Grogu again placed a handprint on it.

Din sat there patiently waiting till Luke was done. The Jedi took a plate and held it up to him showing the rebel symbol he had drawn on his.

They stared at each other for a minute, Din getting lost in the other's eyes. Grogu interrupted them wanting some paint on him too. So the two started drawing on him, the child laughing in between them. They took some pictures afterward.

When they were done, Luke saw some children eyeing him excitedly. So he made them float for a second before smiling at them. Naturally, they ran up to him laughing and pulling him away from the others so he could show them some more Jedi tricks.

Din just turned to his kid. "Looks like Luke is popular." He chuckled as he watched him entertain the children who looked at him with wide eyes. Grogu waddled over to his teacher and the children pulling Din with him. Luke introduced them to the kids and they immediately took an interest in him as they haven't seen anyone like Grogu before. The child pulled off his own trick and made quick friends.

Luke pulled Din away letting Grogu play with his new friends.

"Are you sure this is fine?

"Yes, they're open-minded. I mean they liked me, so Grogu's fine. Plus I have yet to meet someone who doesn't love the little bastard." Luke kissed him on the side of his helmet.

Not soon after Din got caught up in conversations with some of his people. Luke felt the night blues crash in on him. So he left to go outside and sit down on the ground in front of a lake. His gaze fixated on the night sky as thoughts kept rushing through his mind. Was he allowed to participate in these festivities? Was he allowed to be this close to him? What if he wound up hurting the other? What if- He kept thinking until the other interrupted his thoughts.

"Hey, there you are." Din sat down next to him. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, it's just that time of the night where my mind won't shut up." Luke smiled at him. "You should go back inside. They'll miss you."

"And leave you alone with your thoughts? I don't think so." Din kept sitting next to him. "You wanna talk about it?"

"Nah, let's just sit here for a while." Luke leaned against the other and grabbed his hand, intertwining their fingers.

"Okay."

They just stayed like that for a while until Luke opened up. "I guess I am overwhelmed."

"You are overwhelmed?"

"Yeah, I guess it's been a while since I have felt this at home. I love my family but hearing you call me family, getting to share this holiday with you and Grogu makes me so unbelievably happy." Luke paused. "I guess I really want to stay with you, at your side as we did on Dagobah."

"Luke, I-"

"I'm sorry, I'm talking such nonsense and I'm not even drunk. I just miss my simple life sometimes, being on Tatooine with Aunt Beru." He smiled his gaze slowly shifting back to the stars. "When I'm not with you I feel weirdly homesick. But I guess that just makes seeing you again even sweeter."

"I get that. I miss living on Dagobah and having a simple nice routine."

Luke chuckled. "Thank you."

"For what?"

"Letting me experience your culture, letting me in your bubble and for being my family." Luke stood up pulling him up with him. "Come on, this is supposed to be a Party, not a sulk fest." He smiled and went back inside with him. They spent the night dancing and talking to people. Surprisingly Boba and Luke had a great time talking and drinking together. The Jedi almost drank him under the table.

"Oh god, Jabba was such a creep! I don't know how you were able to work for him that long!" Luke joked.

"I know. But he paid well and had nice parties. Well, if he wasn't executing people that is."

They talked for a while until Bo Katan challenged Luke to a friendly fight which the Jedi won. He also earned her respect after she heard some of his war stories. She started to get why Din liked him.

Fennec just liked his style which they bonded over, Luke adored her hair.

Cara just chuckled and nudged Din. "Guess he fits right in. No wonder you're so fond of him."

Grogu got tired after a while and Luke picked him up gently. "I'll go and get the little bed Bug to sleep." He kissed Din on the side of his helmet and went to the Mandalorian's apartment. Carefully as not to wake him he put him in and kissed him on the forehead. "Sleep tight."

Din was getting impatient and decided to go and see if everything was alright. He sneaked inside trying not to wake Grogu when he heard Luke singing. Silently he crept up and looked at him kneeling in front of Grogu's bed singing for him.

"Rockin', rockin' and Rollin'. Down the beach I'm strollin'-" The Jedi then noticed someone behind him and immediately turned around his lightsaber drawn, until he saw Din. He put it back, getting up. "Oh shit, I am so sorry." He pushed the other outside as to not wake Grogu before closing the door behind them.

Luke looked at the other annoyed. "Don't scare me like that. I could have hurt you."

"Sorry, just wanted to hear your singing. What song was that?" Din chuckled his arms in the air.

Luke smiled and sat down at the kitchen table. "My old master sang it. He was weird but that song was a bop. Do you want to get back to the party?"

"Nah, let's stay here for a while longer." Din took off his helmet and smiled at the other. "You're great with him. I was skeptical of that at first, scared he might get hurt, sorry."

"It's fine. I would have been worried too." Luke chuckled. "He's really lovable."

"Yeah, I miss having him around, having you around. I kept watching him grow up in pictures like I used to watch him day by day." Din looked at his hands.

Luke just gently took them. "Let's move back in together."

"What?"

"I could train the Jedi here. I mean it would also help with the feud! Oh, and we would have more time that we could spend together."

"Luke, that wouldn't work. Your students live on Chandrilla. Just think of Ben. The Senate also needs you. I wish we could but you can't just up and leave."

"You're right. I guess I just got too excited with the idea." They sat there for a bit until the Jedi broke the silence again. "Let's get back to the Party. Your friends probably miss you."

"What about Grogu?"

"R2D2 is a great babysitter."

The droid protested.

"He will notify me if anything is wrong and we can put your bodyguards in charge of watching him. I mean I'm here to watch out for you." Luke winked at him and got up walking to the door.

Sin put his helmet back on unsure but eventually agreed. They told the bodyguards who were waiting in front of the door the deal and went back.

Luke woke up cuddled against the other, this time clothed. He felt his head spin, trying to think about what happened last night. Careful as not to wake the other he got up and went to the bathroom looking at himself. He traced the smudged paint smiling before going to the kitchen. "Might as well try to make us some breakfast."

While he was busy cooking some eggs Din woke up. He stood up still groggy going into his kitchen where he found the Jedi cooking. "Morning, Mesh'la."

"Oh morning!" Luke beamed at him. "I thought I'd make you some breakfast for once."

"Thank you."

"Thank you again for inviting me. I had a blast." Luke kissed him on the cheek before resuming to cook. "I hope it's edible." He put it on the plates and smiled. After that, he sat down with the other.

Din ate a bit and tried to look like it wasn't way too much salt. "It's good." He forced himself to take another bite.

"You can tell me that it sucks. You don't have a good enough poker face without the helmet." The Jedi chuckled and put the food away. "Well, it was worth a try."

"Thank you, for trying." Din smiled at him still appreciating the gesture. "How long are you staying?"

"I gave the younglings some free time, so if you want to I could stay a week."

"That would be nice."

"Perfect!" Luke chuckled staring at him. "Oh, you mind if I take a quick shower? I love your painting job but it's starting to itch."

"Sure." Din showed him where the towels are and made some edible breakfast.

When Luke was ready he put the towel around his waist and went to his backpack to find something fresh to wear. "Shit!" Luke put on his pants before coming out to Din shirtless. "Hey, do you maybe have a shirt I could borrow? I forgot mine."

Din turned to face him. "Sure just take one out of my wardrobe."

"Thanks." Luke went and grabbed the first one he saw knowing it wouldn't fit with his style anyway. It was too big for him, not much but noticeable, despite them not being that much different in height. It smelled like him, a bit like oil and Din's shampoo. When he got out again Grogu was awake already and looked at him with a big smile. Luke smiled back.

"Looks good on you," Din commented not really thinking about what he was saying.

"Thank you, so what's on the agenda today?"

"Nothing really."

"You could show us the city or some interesting landmarks."

"Sure." They ate and spend the day sightseeing. Luke held the other's hand throughout it all and Din felt his heartbeat like crazy little did he know the other felt the same.

Grogu was excited to finally see where his dad lived. Some people from the party greeted them happily, which surprised Luke. He was glad to be met with friendly faces after the first few times he spent on the planet.

When they got back they watched some movies before putting Grogu to bed. Luke leaned against Din cuddling up to him. He found himself wanting to kiss him so bad.

Din felt the same tensing up as images of the Jedi moaning his name came back into his mind.

Luke took a deep breath before turning to the other. Their faces were only an inch away from each other. He felt himself move even closer and gently kissed him before pulling away. "Oh lord- Sorry I wasn't thinking!"

"It's fine." Din kissed him back and they soon started to melt into each other before parting again. "It's a bad idea though, me and you."

"I know I totally agree." Luke looked at him but didn't intend to stop.

"It's a terrible idea. You're a Jedi."

"You're a Mandalorian."

"You're my kid's teacher."

Luke kissed him again. "Let's just keep making out while we snap out of it."

"Sounds like a plan." Din pulled him closer returning the kiss. Before he knew it the other was sitting on his lap.

Luke felt his hands get tangled in the other's hair. God, he loved the feeling of the other's hair and being able to see him knowing how much it meant.

Din loved feeling the other touch his skin and his hand in his hair. He hadn't realized how much he had missed other people's touch until he met him.

The Jedi felt the other kiss down his neck and started to get excited. His eyes fixated on the other kissing down his collarbone. He tried his best to muffle his sounds. "What about Grogu?" He almost got interrupted by a small moan as Din bit his neck.

"It's okay. He's a fast sleeper. He won't hear you." Din gave Luke a kiss. "But maybe we should move this to my bedroom. You know just in case."

"Sounds good."

The next few days they found themselves hooking up more often one time Boba walked in on them. Luke had his legs locked around Din's waist and was held up against a wall.

"I knew it! I kriffing knew it!" He startled them Luke tried to pull a Jedi mind trick on him. "It's not gonna work, kid."

Din quickly but carefully let Luke down, making sure he wouldn't hurt himself. "Please don't tell anyone."

"I won't, don't worry. I'm not a snitch." He crossed his arms. "I better get going. Have fun." He turned around and left.

The two looked at each other and eventually just started laughing. Din smiled. "God, that was uncomfortable."

"Definitely!" Luke felt his face slowly get back to its normal color. "At least it was just Boba and not Bo Katan."

"Yeah." Din looked at the other intently. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure." Luke was leaning against the wall smiling up at the other.

"What is this, like what are we?"

The Jedi paused for a second, emotions running through his eyes, but none the other could pinpoint. "I don't know, I guess friends with benefits, Fuck buddies. To be honest I didn't quite question it and just rolled with it."

"Sounds like a plan." Din liked what they had and didn't want to ruin it even though he yearned for more. To be able to take the other out on dates, to be with him more than just hooking up.

Chapter Text

Two weeks later Din had come to Chandrilla to join a meeting in the Senate, speaking on behalf of the Mandalorians. After the meeting, he went with Luke to his room and they decided to blow off some steam before getting Grogu from Leia.

Luke melted into his touch. He felt the other's hands slip under his top and push him against the wall.

"Mesh'la, this is a pretty good bad idea," Din spoke directly next to his ear making his knees weak.

Luke let his hands get tangled in the other's hair while pulling him back in. "I agree." He pulled him closer feeling his hands wander to his pants.

Din started kissing the Jedi's neck and pulled off his top starting to kiss his scars making him shudder.

"Din-"

He kept kissing up back to his ear. "Yes?" He bit his earlobe.

"You're so fucking hot." Luke pulled him closer and kissed him again letting the other's tongue in. They kept kissing until he needed to take a breath. The Jedi was panting as he felt the other hoist him up. His legs almost immediately locked around his waist as the other pushed him against the wall.

Din started kissing down his neck again gently biting at it while unbuckling the Jedi's belt. Luke felt his breath hitch small moans escaping it. "Din- ah. Please don't stop."

The Mandalorian was glad to keep kissing him. His hands traced the other's scars while sucking on his neck finding the point where the other seemed extremely sensitive. "Ah- Din-" Luke moaned getting lightheaded and losing himself.

Din grinned and kept working on that spot. He loved hearing the other moan and making him feel good. He gently pulled his hair.

"I-ah-" Luke took a minute to collect himself breathing heavily.

He let his legs drop standing on his own again which Din protested until the Jedi started to kiss down his neck unbuttoning his shirt and dropping to his knees to unbuckle his pants.

Luke looked up to him through heavy eyelashes. "Is this okay?"

"Yes." Din played with his hair while Luke dropped his pants and started kissing his thighs.

The Jedi was just about to pull down the other's boxers when someone called him.

"Skywalker?"

Luke shot up. "Senator! What's he gonna think if he finds the king of Mandalore with me like this."

Din was still high on Lust. "Lucky king?"

Luke just showed him out of sight and quickly fixed himself up before opening the door. "H-hey."

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah." Luke covered his neck. "Can I help you?"

Din fell down in the background.

"Is someone in there with you?"

"N-no?"

The senator got worried and lowered his voice. "You're getting threatened right? I'll come inside."

Luke tried to stop him but he went inside before he could do anything. The senator stared at Din who was sitting on the floor with his pants on his ankles and his helmet on backward.

"What is this?"

Feeling at the end of his robe Luke used his Jedi mind powers. "You saw nothing."

"I saw nothing."

"You will leave."

"I will leave." The senator left.

"Dud you just brainwash him?" Din sat up taking off his helmet again. "That's weirdly hot."

"You're an idiot." Luke kneeled down in front of him kissing him gently. "But a handsome one."

They finished what they started before cleaning up and getting Grogu. Leia looked at her brother. "The meeting ended a while ago."

"Yeah, sorry we got caught up in something." Luke chuckled.

Leia was just about to make a comment about it when Grogu came running out hugging his father. "Buir!"

"Oh, hey there, kid! Did you learn a new word?" Din picked him up smiling under his helmet.

"Oh, yeah he picked out a dictionary that I had borrowed from the library." Leia smiled.

Luke beamed. "Hey, would it be okay if I borrowed it for a few days?"

"Sure knock yourself out." She took the book handing it to her brother.

Din meanwhile prayed that the Jedi wouldn't find out that he's been calling him beautiful for a while now.

They went back to Luke's apartment. Grogu sat down at the table drawing something. Luke sat on the couch with Din. He had his legs on the other's lap and was looking through the book. "Hey, uj'ika." He smiled at Din, who just broke out into laughter.

"I'm sorry." He smiled amused. "Your pronunciation is so bad it's amusing."

"Hey!"

"Sorry, sorry. Also, did you just call me a creampuff?" Din held back a chuckled.

"Yeah, it's a term of endearment, and you're cute." Luke pinched his cheek.

"Stop."

The Jedi chuckled. "Fine. Oh, but know I can finally look up what you've been calling me all this time." Just as he was searching through the pages, Grogu came up to them holding up his picture. It was the three of them together holding hands. "Aww, thank you, buddy."

"Yeah, this is amazing!" Din praised him and the kid bathed in it. Grogu was a fan of praise but then again who wasn't.

Luke was glad the other seemed to be doing so well, especially after seeing and feeling his memories, seeing how order 66 affected him. Before the child could notice his blue mood he put on a smile. "Let's put it on the fridge!" He took the drawing and put it up.

Din eventually started reading some book, the Jedi had laying around and read Grogu and Luke to sleep. He sighed staying put as they were laying on top of him. These moments they shared made him happy and glad that he had something worth protecting, that he had a family again.

He let his hand run through the Jedi's hair. It felt so natural and he wondered what the other would say if he would ask him on a date or about being in a relationship. So, trying to be better at breaking out of his shell, he decided to just try.
