Work Text:

Yeonjun hates the thought of settling down.

It was mostly due to his devotion to work. Being the CEO of a company has its perks— fortune and fame at the top of the list, but being able to spare some of your time to go out on a date or much less fall in love would be too much of a risk if accomplishing deals with potential investors were on the line.

He never indulged himself with anything related to the world of dating, sold with the idea that one night stands or agreements like friends with benefits are easier to handle if you find the right partner for it.

Which leads him to his current predicament.

The sound of his alarm broke the lulling sounds of birds chirping outside his window. Yeonjun stirs, lifting a hand to rub the exhaustion away from his eyes before raising his arms as high as he can, the movement similar to a cat stretching.

Yesterday was a good day for him, being able to close a deal with the Kangs— one of the big sharks in the business industry and now one of their investors in the company. They celebrated with a few drinks and a hearty buffet, all expenses paid by Yeonjun and confidently stating that the sky's the limit.

A small smile slips from his lips as he yawns, still laid flat on his bare chest with his cheek squished on his pillow. Honestly, he should be preparing for work right now, or maybe go for a quick jog as he is already quite satisfied with his slumber. He immediately shuts down all ideas and concedes to his desires, after all, he deserves five extra minutes of sleep once in a while.

The cool breeze slips through the cracks of his window, making him slightly shiver, the duvet barely giving him the warmth that he needs as he pats the other side of his bed, seeking for the only source of warmth that he hopes to envelop him, only to feel the cotton duvet and an empty space beside him.

That makes him open his eyes.

He props himself up by the elbows, blinking the sleep away as he stares at the mess of sheets beside him, a small pout unconsciously rests on his lips as a twinge of disappointment fills his lungs and he deeply sighs, burrowing his face deep into the pillow.

Beomgyu must have left early.

Yeonjun would have wished for a few more minutes to admire the work of art peacefully sleeping beside him, but was only given a cold and lonely bed instead. He could not provide a definite word to explain the nights that he spent with the young man; lovely, thrilling, comforting and intimate were some of the words that he could describe, with him bearing the privilege of having Beomgyu in a way no one else can.

It was meeting Choi Beomgyu in a boring cocktail party held by one of his investors as a turning point for it all. The changes in his life weren’t as immediate as he thought it would be, it was more like a heat slowly igniting into a flame. Try as hard as he might to resist the charms of Choi Beomgyu, the young entrepreneur didn’t even need to try; it was ridiculous how the man had Yeonjun wrapped around all ten of his fingers as soon as he looked his way.

Just one night, that was the deal.

Just one night, Beomgyu had whispered against his lips, in between kisses as the dreamy sighs tumbled right out of Yeonjun’s open mouth.

Just one night, Yeonjun had reminded him while leaving tiny love bites around the sides of Beomgyu’s neck.

Just one more night, they both had convinced each other as Yeonjun runs a hand through the long strands of umber with streaks of blonde, twirling them at his fingertips, softly brushing them with a sense of tenderness akin to the soft, warm hands that roam across his arms and up his chest, nails slightly scraping his back that drives him a little close to the edge every single time.

Those were the nights spent with Choi Beomgyu.

But nights like these were not the main reason as to why he kept coming back. No, it was the mornings that hit him most— Waking up to the sight of an angel living here on earth sleeping peacefully beside him. The city bustling with life and yet he could only hear how hard his heart is pounding against his chest as he holds Beomgyu closer, the smell of his favorite lavender scented shampoo mixed with the younger's vanilla perfume filling his senses.

With a defeated sigh, he lifts himself off the bed and gets ready for work.

Now fully awake and ready to start his busy schedule, he steps out of his bedroom, walking down the stairs as he fixes his cuffs with one hand while holding his necktie on the other. Yeonjun heads straight inside the kitchen, hoping that Haneul, his housekeeper, had prepared his coffee before he goes to work.

“Haneul-ssi, I’m going to work late! I left a list of items on the counter, if you could drop by the grocery store and buy them for me later please let me know.”

“Mhm. Good morning, sleepyhead.”

Yeonjun looks up from the sound of the familiar voice— eyes widening as he sees Beomgyu wearing his joggers, which looked a little too big for him, but looked good on him nonetheless. He's fucked, he has never wanted anyone to wear his clothes until now. He imagines Beomgyu wearing all his fluffy sweaters, drowning in it with the cutest sweater paws. Yeonjun must've stared too long at the button down shirt that he was wearing last night, which was now being worn by none other than Beomgyu, with three buttons at the top left unbuttoned, recognizing the marks that he had made, all in shades of red and purple covering Beomgyu’s neck down to his chest.

“Eyes up here, loverboy.” Beomgyu waves the wooden spatula in front of Yeonjun, making him step back in surprise.

“You’re still here.” Yeonjun whispered, still quite surprised at the turn of events.

“Haneul-ssi went out to buy more items at the grocery store. And yes, I’m still here.” Beomgyu turns to focus on the pan, his back facing Yeonjun.

Yeonjun nodded, feeling a bit better now that he knows that Beomgyu didn’t leave. No! Get a grip, you whipped idiot, He complains to himself as he lightly slaps his cheek. Beomgyu turns to face him again, making Yeonjun straighten his back like a soldier as Beomgyu points the spatula at him. The sight was quite comical really and Soobin, his co-worker and Beomgyu's best friend, would definitely tease him if he ever finds out about this.

“I noticed that you always get sulky whenever I leave in the morning, and I didn’t want you to flood my phone with angry emojis so I thought I’d cook you breakfast before you go to work.”

Beomgyu places the scrambled egg on top of the kimchi fried rice, the steam mingling with the cool air and Yeonjun continues to silently stand there, warmth blooming through his chest as he watches Beomgyu place the plate of food on the counter, along with coffee that is thankfully, still warm.

Is it normal to feel like this with the person whom you only sleep with?

“Darling, the food will get cold if you’ll just stare at me all day long.”

Beomgyu scoops a spoonful of rice and gently blows on it, afraid to burn the tongue of the other as he moves to feed Yeonjun the first bite. Beomgyu looks at him in anticipation and Yeonjun immediately understands, nodding his head and giving him a thumbs up, the young man beaming at the reassurance that he wasn’t so bad at cooking after all.

Yeonjun smiles, seeing the lone dimple on Beomgyu’s cheek appear at his burst of happiness. They eat in silence, the two taking turns in feeding the other, until Beomgyu realized that Yeonjun was pretty much late for work and told him to eat faster.

With a full stomach and an empty plate, Yeonjun helps Beomgyu wash the dishes for as quick as they could before walking towards the door. He walks slower than usual, hoping that he has a few more minutes to spare just to have a minute longer with Beomgyu. He must be really in deep shit, seeing how ridiculous his attempts are turning out for him.

But the universe must have heard his prayers.

“Hyung, wait!”

Yeonjun faces him with eagerness and sees the navy blue necktie that he was holding earlier.

“You forgot your tie.” Yeonjun, expecting that Beomgyu was just giving it to him, was about to take the tie and thank him when the younger did the complete opposite; raising his arms to place the necktie around Yeonjun’s neck before tying it himself.

He once again stood there, immobilized, mind running at miles per minute and his heart fluttering, wondering when did he ever start to feel this way towards the other. Yeonjun would have excused it for being fond, but then again, he was never fond when Haneul would offer to tie his necktie for him.

Beomgyu gently pats his chest, adjusting the tie once more, and Yeonjun stares, admiring the way the younger man’s eyelashes flutter and softly kiss the lower part of his eyes.

“There, looking good, you old man.” Yeonjun rolls his eyes, flicking a finger on Beomgyu’s forehead while the other continues to laugh at his own joke.

Beomgyu was glowing under the morning light. Yeonjun’s breath hitches at such a glorious sight, he tries his best to not let the feeling overwhelm him, wanting to wrap his arms around the other and bask in the warmth and comfort that Beomgyu radiates.

“My my, your employees must love working at your company if they get to see you everyday.” Beomgyu winks at him, making him chuckle at the remark.

Yeonjun raises a brow in challenge before saying, “You must be jealous then, seeing as you work for my company’s rival.”

Beomgyu shook his head, childishly sticking out his tongue at the other. “My boss Hueningkai is a blessing to the eyes, thank you very much.”

Yeonjun subtly grips his phone tighter at the thought, trying not to think too much about the fact that there are indeed gorgeous people that Beomgyu is working with and might potentially ask the young man out on a date and hold his hand or kiss his knuckles and hear Beomgyu’s laugh and—

Yeonjun hated the thought of settling down.

But now the thought of it doesn’t sound so bad after all, if it means that he gets to spend everyday with the man in front of him.

“Beomgyu-yah.”

Beomgyu hums, waiting for Yeonjun to speak as he fiddles with Yeonjun's tie. He badly wants to hug the younger to ease his apprehension, but opted to hold his phone tighter instead. Yeonjun realizes that he doesn’t want anyone else to have the privilege of taking Beomgyu out on a date, to kiss him until he’s out of breath or wake up with their heart and arms full of Beomgyu.

He doesn’t care if he stumbles out the words, or if the young man would tease him for this; he wants more and he’s ready to risk it all, his clumsy heart spilling all its secrets to the one it yearns for the most.

“Do you want to go out later?” Yeonjun asks before he could stop himself.

There was a moment of silence as Beomgyu pursed his lips, staring at Yeonjun with an unreadable expression, making Yeonjun want to turn back on his words.

“Is Mr. Choi Yeonjun asking me out on a date?”

Yeonjun blinks, a little relieved at the light tone in the other’s voice. His usual confident persona in the company flew out of the window as he managed to take a peek at Beomgyu’s expression, internally sighing as he saw the younger grin at him, his eyes bright and cheeks tinged pink.

“I am, actually.” Yeonjun coughs, trying not to embarrass himself in front of the other.

Beomgyu shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips as he pushes Yeonjun out the door. “Be safe, and try not to glare at your employees today okay?”

“Is that a yes?” Yeonjun tries to look over his shoulder, trying to stop Beomgyu from kicking him out of his own house.

Before he could complain, he was swiftly turned around, a pair of hands cupping his cheeks as Beomgyu seals his lips with a kiss. It was quick, a small peck, but nevertheless made a great impact on Yeonjun’s poor heart. Beomgyu kisses him once, twice and then peppers him with kisses all over Yeonjun’s face. Yeonjun chuckled, feeling the happiest that he’s ever been. The onslaught of kisses stopped as Beomgyu leaned away from him with a small smile.

“I hope that answered your question. Now go, the world is waiting.”

Yeonjun finally found the courage to wrap his arms around Beomgyu, and he closed his eyes, savoring the moment as he heard the other sigh in relief. He pulls away, leaving a kiss on Beomgyu’s forehead, on his nose, and then finally on his lips. Three kisses for three words that he's too shy to say out loud.

Truly, nothing feels better than this.
