Summary
The last vestiges of darkness slip away from him, the whole of him so filled with her that he thinks he’s going to burn with it. Maybe it’s wrong to believe in one so heavily; maybe it’s unfair to think that another person is responsible for one’s happiness. Barry knows all of that on a cerebral level. How he yearns for her isn’t logical, though. Because she feels like the sum that makes up all his parts, the one that helps him to see who he is beyond an imprisoned dad and a dead mom and nothing to call his own but a house that still carries the ghosts of them. He wants to be because of her, because she’s shown him family again and compassion again and love again.
Still, he wants to keep this light hearted feeling so he tries for some levity.
“So if I revert back to tripping all over myself, you’ll still love me?”
It doesn’t work, though, because she shakes her head fondly and presses her face into his neck, her hand held over his heart. “I think I’m gonna love you forever, Barry Allen.”Or, it’s Barry’s birthday, and Iris helps him celebrate.
