Fan carefully made sure the food he was making was at a decent enough stopping point for now, kept warm but not about to burn. Confirming it was he quickly cleaned off his hands, brushed debris off his jacket, and started heading out of the kitchen. It seemed he had some other problems to deal with first, seeming as how a group of people had been slowly progressing towards his and Xie’s little kingdom of snow through their snowstorm. Fan was just annoyed they had to try in the middle of him making lunch for Xie and him, meaning he had to get to a stopping point before dealing with them, giving more time for Xie to potentially notice the intruders, even with how busy and distracted he was. Fan couldn’t allow that, this was important to Xie, no one was allowed to distract him.
On the way out Fan quickly peaked in on Xie, and was relieved to see he still seemed to not have picked up on the foreign presences in their snowstorm, still far too involved in what he was doing and not paying attention to a thing outside of it. With that confirmation Fan quickly proceeded on his way, out into the snowstorm and cold. Of course, it didn’t bother him any. The cold was nothing to him, and even with the blizzard-like weather Fan could see fine. It was his and Xie’s storm, after all, it was under their control. They were at the advantage in it. It was no wonder people thought of them as snow monsters these days. And Fan was about to show these dumb souls why they should heed such warnings.
It was a bit of a walk to get to them, but Fan navigated it with ease. Never once walking anywhere but towards them, they couldn’t hide as long as they were in the storm after all. Not like they were trying to at this time. It seemed they were mostly trying to struggle forward through the cold and snow to try and make it to the city. Fan could only guess that they were another batch of idiots trying to free the Evil Eye from its icy prison. But in the end, to him, the reason didn’t matter much. What mattered is they were a threat to what Xie found important. A threat of distracting him from his work. And if they were after the Evil Eye, a threat to Xie’s goal to keep it contained and cure the Abyss. And as much as Fan didn’t really care about that, he did care about what Xie wanted. He’d make sure Xie got whatever he wanted, that’s all that mattered to Fan. He’d keep his Bi’an happy, he’d do whatever it took to do so. Hide Bi’an’s failing sense of time, aid in his research however he could, help the Bureau, keep Joseph and Trickster away, and even kill those who would dare threaten Bi’an or what Bi’an wanted. That was all Fan cared about, nothing else mattered.
Finally, Fan got an actual visual on the group, obviously struggling with the cold. About 8 idiots bundled up and trudging through the thick snow. They hadn’t even spotted Fan yet, even with the fact that he didn’t exactly blend in with the snow, what with his black coat, hair, and prosthetics, nor was Fan trying overly hard to hide currently. Dumbasses. You’d think they’d try being more vigilant. Not like it would do them any good. They stood no chance in his and Xie’s snowstorm, even with their numbers.
Fan carefully stalked closer, looping to appear behind the group, before wearing a cruel grin and finally revealing his position. “Didn’t you all hear there are monsters in this storm?” Fan called, unable to help the feeling of sick satisfaction as the group all jumped before scrambling to turn around and face him, hands flying to weapons tucked away. “How unfortunate for you, you’re not leaving this storm. And I can’t let you get any further. You may actually distract my Bi’an then, I can’t allow that, you know? He’s very busy with important things.”
Fan quickly let himself slip into the storm again, using his magic to pull it just right to hide him even with his outfit, silently slipping to be to the side of the group, as they all quickly pointed weapons at where Fan was. Times like these Fan couldn’t help but wish he had Xie’s talent for creating illusions in the storm, be so much easier to disorient them. But in the end, his own abilities would let him finish this quicker. No need to pick them off one by one, he could get the majority of them in one swipe if he positioned himself right. He just had to be a bit patient. And really, they seemed confused enough as they shot a few bullets in the direction of where he was before trying to find where he is. “Come out, bastard! You’re outnumbered! Give up the Evil Eye and perhaps we’ll let you live!” Oh, so Fan was right then. Not like there’s much other reason to come here with no warning. Even more reason to get rid of them. Their existence was truly a great threat to what Xie wanted.
Fan chuckled, the sound cold as the storm and dark as his hair. “You have a lot of confidence when you’re in our storm.” He moved himself a little further as they tried to turn towards the location of his voice. “Numbers mean nothing, you’re at the disadvantage. Cold, lost, unable to see. Really, it’s unfair.” Fan’s smile twitched further as most of the group huddled closer together, perhaps thinking they’d be safer. “You all really are unlucky my Bi’an is busy and can’t kill you himself. If it was just him you might have had a bit more of a chance. And if it was both of us perhaps it be a bit more… merciful.”
One member stepped away from the group, Fan would guess the leader of this little expedition. Annoying, the closer they were the more likely Fan would get them all at once. “You’re not going to scare us away, one unarmed man can’t stand up against 8 armed ones. We’re here to get the Eye, and we’ll not leave without it!” Fan sighed at that. Annoying. And stupid. Though he ALMOST wanted to laugh at their unknowing pun. Unarmed. Ha. Maybe he’d share that with Bi’an later, seems like the type of pun his boyfriend would enjoy. If he remembered it when his boyfriend wasn’t so distracted.
“You’re in my snowstorm and you think I’m unarmed?” Fan decided he’d waited long enough, he’d get the majority at least, then he could deal with the final one with his own hands if needed. He quickly grabbed his “bell”, which made channeling his power as he needed so much easier. Fan focused his energy and then with a flourish he sent the power out in a freezing wave, rapidly cooling the air, the moisture in it turning into icy spikes, though that wasn’t the point, really. The spikes did pierce the first in the bundle, but in the end what made it so deadly, and these idiots so unlucky, was the sub-zero wave of cold hitting them, freezing up their bodies, making it impossible to move or breathe. But unlike what they could do with a bit more time, this was absolutely deadly and slow. Their body would either shut down from the cold or they’d suffocate, Fan didn’t care which. “I could have nothing at all on me, and I wouldn’t be unarmed.”
The one idiot left, who had been frustratingly too far from the pack, looked in terror at his now frozen compatriots. Fan laughed cruelly and added, “I told you you were at the disadvantage.” Quickly stalking forward, before reaching out through the snow and yanking the gun from the stunned man’s grip, tossing it somewhere in the snow. With that Fan let his hand curl around the man’s neck, looming over the shorter man with a cruel smile. “Now, let’s finish this off before Bi’an even realizes there were intruders. No need for him to be distracted, or to dirty his own hands anyways.” Fan said, voice cold as the ice on his skin, as he quickly pushed deadly cold right into the man’s skin, watching his throat ice over as the man stared in wide-eyed terror, unable to get even another word out as his vocal cords were quickly frozen over. Once Fan was sure the man was dead, his neck more a hunk of ice than flesh, he tossed the man to the side near his compatriots.
Fan didn’t even spare the dead bodies a second glance as he quickly turned towards home. He had other things to do now, the cold would probably preserve their bodies, nothing he needed to concern himself with. Maybe a good warning for any other souls that dared try to infiltrate his and Xie’s territory. Perhaps once he’d have felt bad about this, especially having killed them so brutally, but right now Fan felt not an ounce of regret. He was simply doing what needed to be done to keep Xie happy, and really, the less blood on his dear Bi’an’s hands the better. For now, he headed towards the city again. He had a lunch to finish making, after all.

Fan gently set the plate of food and a glass of water down in front of Xie, finally getting his boyfriend to register the fact Fan was in fact there. “Ah, Wujiu… Food again? It’s been, what, 30 minutes my love? I don’t see why you bring some so often, A-Jiu!” Xie teased, even as he reached to eat the food. Fan simply smiled gently and gave a small chuckle.
“You always say that, but you always eat it. Just eat, A-Bi.” After all, it had been a few hours and not 30 minutes since Xie last ate, he needed the food. And Fan was sure he was, in fact, hungry now that Xie was reminded food existed. He always was, even if he thought it hadn’t been long since he last ate. Fan then grabbed the previous dishes, set to the side, completely clear of food. “I’ll be back later, Bi’an. I love you.”
He got a considering hum back as Xie started back to reading while eating the food Fan brought, then a slightly distracted “Love you too, Wujiu…” Fan sighed but smiled gently, at least it was something. A small moment of attention from his boyfriend. It would just have to last him for a bit longer. And at least it truly seemed his Bi’an was none the wiser of their intruders. With that in mind Fan left with the dishes, ignoring the aching loneliness that begged for him to just plead for even a scrap more of attention. He shouldn’t distract Xie further, his research was important after all.
