Tea with honey (and kisses)

Summary:

Marinette tells Adrien just how much she knows about him.

Prompt: honey

Notes:

Have some more fluff 🥰

Work Text:

Being there with Adrien as she poured the tea felt surreal. Marinette had had both Adrien and Chat over before, without knowing they were one and the same. Now she knew and having him there with her, in her own house, just like being anywhere else with him while mentally combining the two images in one, would need some getting used to.

“A spoon of honey in yours, right?” She called out to him.

“Yes,” he chuckled. “Just make sure to leave the tea to cool a bit before you add it. But how do you know?” He asked and he heard his voice move closer just as she took the jar of honey out of the cabinet and almost dropped it.

“I know a lot of things about you,” she said as she turned around to find him leaning against the counter. It was totally unfair how at home he looked everywhere he went. Although him feeling at home at her house made her feel warm inside.

He raised an eyebrow and she felt a blush creep up her face.

“I know that you know me better than anyone else,” he noted. “But I have a feeling you mean more than that.”

“It’s more than that, yes. I’m like a sponge, absorbing every little tidbit about you I hear or read - your shoe size, your favourite fruit, your favourite colour, your schedule, the cologne you use,” she rattled off, her voice rising with every word. “Your preferred side of the bed, for goodness sake!” She groaned, hiding her hot face in her hands.

“Um..”

“I know that last one from Plagg, I didn’t spy on you!” She added quickly, still not looking at him.

“Okay,” he chuckled, sounding amused. “There is no need to be embarrassed. I’m flattered.”

“It’s silly. I now realise that instead of trying to impress you by using my knowledge to surprise you and make gifts for you and whatever, I could have just asked you. You would have appreciated it a lot more if I expressed an interest in you, actually talked to you.” She knew that, especially now that she knew how much she’d neglected one part of him while focusing too hard on the other one. “Instead knowing all this makes me look like a lovesick girl or something worse.”

“Are you?” He asked quietly. She’d turned around, busying herself with the honey in the middle of her tirade.

“What?” She paused. The spoon with which she’d put honey in his tea was still in her hand and her tongue darted out to lick the vestiges of sweetness on it.

“A lovesick girl.”

“Oh. Maybe.”

When she looked up at him, he was much closer and looking at her in a way that made her feel warm all over. Then he leaned in and kissed her. It was a good thing she was leaning against the counter because she could barely feel her legs.

When he pulled back, he licked his lips with a smile.

“I never expected that it would be the hint of honey that I would forever associate with our first kiss. Well, the first one I remember.”

At first she could only gape at him, but then she wrapped her arms around him, pulling him to her in a surprisingly tight hold, and kissed him again. Yes, she didn’t plan to waste any more time. A sound of surprise came from him, but he quickly responded in kind.

“It’s getting cold,” she said eventually, motioning to the tea. She was out of breath and ridiculously happy and tea was the last thing on her mind, but she wouldn’t be a good hostess if she let him drink cold tea.

“I don’t care,” he smiled. “I didn’t come here for the tea anyway,” he added before kissing her again.

Fair enough.
