Work Text:
There’s never a fight that takes a bigger toll on the soul, than one between the emotions of the heart and thoughts of the mind.
Sometimes what feels right inside, is like a thorn through eyes looking in. Love was certain between the bond they shared. In every thump of Josh's drum, and note in Tyler's vocals, their chemistry resonated in unison.
The music they created was a reflection of the impulse drawing them beyond being bandmates, but a home where their hearts can taste freedom.
Emotions intensified, but the distance between them was like a flitting dream, just out of their reach. Too in love with each other to admit it, and too scared of the taunts that may spew from the lips of their fans if they did.
How cruel, to find the soul that sings to your heart, yet not being able to succumb to every inch of your desires -craving them eternally.
Every night they lay beside someone void of true attraction, a piece of their happiness withered under the moon. Hiding their truth in the ruse of a companion only meant as a veil to the name etched within their hearts.
Smiles blossom from wilting sanity, feigning true love, while desperate to be unchained from the cage suppressing the surge of euphoria emerging from the sight of each other. Their gazes glistened with the blaze of the summer sun, burning the air keeping them at bay.
Josh's drums hummed to every strum of Tyler's ukelele. To the world it was music, but to them, it was an escape from their hell, a way to be with each other without being with each other. To admit to one another how they truly felt without using words.
But the thing about love, is that it’s reckless, young, free spirited.
No chain is strong enough, nor no cage big enough. 100 miles an hour, Josh’s engine roared through midnight skies in his direction. His one true love.
And so shortly after there they were, him before his door, Tyler before his dreamy eyes. The wall crumbled, the mountain parted and their love broke free of its bondage, professing what fate long awaited; a love meant to enter the gates of forever.
“Jishwa?” Tyler barely managed, fingering the edge of his shirt with trembling fingers.
“I came for you," Josh stuttered. "I… I love you, Ty, I can't keep it a secret any longer.”
