Chapter Text
Yang's eyes tiredly slid open to look at the alarm clock on the bedside table. The time read seven thirty-one. Yang yawned and tried to stretch only to realise that there was a heavy pressure on her back. Yang shifted only for the heavy pressure to grumble and snuggle in some more. A low purring started up and a slender arm fell over her face. Blake was sleeping on Yang's back. The tables had very much turned. Yang had to suppress a grin. Usually, it was Yang who woke up almost smothering Blake. Guess Blake decided a little revenge was in order. Yang gently lifted Blake's arm and placed it on top of her head. Yang was about to drift back off to sleep when she realized something. She had to pee. Bad. And her fiancée was asleep on her back. And a sleepy Blake disturbed from her comfortable position was a very, very, very grumpy Blake. Yang had a decision to make. Either try and hold her bladder for as long as she feasibly could until Blake woke up or wake Blake up and risk a scratch to the arm and the cold shoulder for the rest of the morning.
Yang wondered if they had any tea in the event that she did choose to wake Blake up. Blake shifted again and nuzzled her face into Yang's neck and wrapped her arms around Yang's waist as she settled into another sleeping position. Blake let out a content sigh and her purring ratcheted up a notch as she fell deeper into sleep. While Yang was glad and a little proud that Blake considered her comfy enough to sleep on, Blake's new sleeping position was really pressing on Yang's bladder. Yang eyed the bathroom door longingly. The toilet was just beyond that door and out of her reach. Yang idly wondered if there was a way to transport Blake into the bathroom with her without disturbing her. After a few more minutes of mulling it over, Yang came to the regretful decision of waking her fiancée. After all, Blake wouldn't want to sleep on wet sheets. Yang gently patted the top of Blake's head.
"Hey, Blakey, can you let me go? I need to get up." Yang said. Blake grumbled and tightened her hold and unfortunately, squeezed Yang's bladder a little more.
"E noho ma kahi moe me aʻu." Blake mumbled, sleepily.
"I'd love to, Kitty Cat, really, I would but uh, I have to pee." Yang said. Blake sighed and released her hold.
"E hoʻi wikiwiki." Blake mumbled. Yang rolled off the bed and onto the floor, stood up and gave Blake a jaunty salute.
"Yes ma'am!" Yang said. She ran over to the bathroom and attended to her business. She washes her hands and crossed back across the room and got back in bed.
"And I'm back." Yang said happily, snuggling into the bed. Blake wrapped her arms around her again and planted a sleepy kiss on the side of Yang's face.
"Maikaʻi loa." Yang closed her eyes and turned over, happy to be the little spoon for once. Yang's eyes flew open as a thought occurred to her.
I really am a bottom. Yang thought. She spent about two seconds thinking about that before shrugging. Oh well. She was what she was and she wasn't going to deny it. She had top energy and that was all that mattered. Yang had to stifle a giggle. A bottom with top energy, was that even heard of? Yang shrugged again. Oh well, she could be the first of her kind if that was the case. Yang snuggled into her pillow to fall back asleep when she felt Blake move her hair out of the way and press another kiss to the back of her neck. Yang mentally shrugged. Blake was always affectionate when she was sleepy. Yang felt another kiss to the back of her neck followed by another and another. Yang felt Blake pepper kisses all over the back of her neck as her hands started to travel lower and oh, Blake was in the mood.
Yang blinked several times. Once again, the table's had turned. Yang briefly had flashbacks to everytime she had woken up in the mood and had to beg Blake to ehm, "help" her. Yang mentally shrugged. Oh well, nothing like early morning "bonding" activities with your fiancée to start the morning. Then she remembered Weiss and Ruby next door and how they both were probably still asleep. Weiss had taken to sleeping in, a stark contrast from how she was at Beacon, always up before her alarm went off and dragging poor, innocently Ruby out of bed when the alarm went off. Yang idly wondered if that was a thing she should be worried about. Yang was about to suggest to her lovely fiancée that they just go back to cuddling when Blake's lips crashed onto hers and kissed her hungrily. All thoughts of being courteous to her dear, sweet sister and lovely had-enough-money-to-murder-her-and-get-away-with-it future-soon-to-be-sister-in-law flew out the window as she kissed Blake back. Weiss and Ruby who? Didn't know those people.
In Weiss And Ruby's Dorm
Weiss had been sleepily and cozily snuggled in her pillow, cuddling her beautiful fiancée as the big spoon for once when she was rudely interrupted by the uncouth sounds beginning to emit from Yang and Blake's room. Ruby, who had been blissfully in between the realm of the waking and the realm of dreams was violently, unceremoniously (and rudely) shoved fully into the realm of the waking. Ruby whined in discontent and Weiss felt her ire rise at the unhappy noise. Confound Blake and Yang and their frankly insatiable appetites. Confound them.
"Weiiiiissssssss," Ruby whined. "Do something!" Weiss briefly thought about charging next door and freezing Blake and Yang into ice statues. She quickly dismissed the thought when she realized that she didn't know what lewd position they were in.
"I'd offer you earplugs but I don't think we have any." Weiss said, really regretting not going shopping for earplugs. Ruby whined again and shoved her head under her pillow. She peeked out slightly to look at Weiss.
"Think we could trick Yang with the banana again?" Ruby asked. Weiss thought about it. Six months ago, she would have gladly jumped at the opportunity to trick Yang into thinking that she was defiling Ruby with a piece of fruit in order to get peace and quiet. Unfortunately, a lot had changed in six months and Weiss really wasn't looking forward to a trip to the burn unit over the joke. She patted Ruby's head.
"If you want to get me killed, My Love, then of course." Weiss said. Ruby shuddered.
"Yeah, I don't think she'd be too forgiving after last time. And these are really nice sheets. I don't want them getting charred." Ruby said. Weiss looked at their blanket.
"You're right. It's a very nice blanket. Warm too." Weiss said. Ruby threw her covers off and stood up, stretching. She winced when Yang screamed high soprano and tugged her sweater down. She made her over to the closet, sock clad feet making silent footfalls across the floor. Ruby opened the closet door and climbed to the top shelf and lifted a light pink binder out of a box and climbed back down. Sge walked back over to the bed and got back in. Weiss looked at the large binder.
"What's this?" Weiss asked. Her eyes widened when she saw the delicate calligraphy written on top of the binder in white with pretty, delicate swirls around it. My Wedding Planner.
"Since we're not getting back to sleep since Yang has decided to become an opera singer," Ruby was interrupted by another loud shriek from Yang and Blake's room. Ruby winced while Weiss's eye twitched. Ruby continued onwards. "I figured we could go over this binder that I spent three years putting together and plan out our wedding." Weiss looked at her.
"You spent three years on this?" Weiss asked, a smile slowly started to spread across her face. She gently cupped Ruby's cheek. "Aw, you were that sure of us?" Ruby leaned into Weiss's touch and nodded, big smile on her face.
"Yup. Yang has one too but don't tell Blake. She wants it to be a surprise." Ruby said. Weiss nodded.
"I won't say a word." Ruby opened the binder to its first section. Pictures of cakes of all sizes, colors and shapes filled the binder. Weiss guessed this was the cake section. Ruby tapped the very first picture. It was of a six tiered red velvet cake with white frosting and red ribbons wrapped around each cake with delicate flower detailing with a statue of a happy couple at the top. Weiss blinked at it.
"I'm thinking we go with this one since we both like red velvet, keep the white frosting and the ribbons, get snowflake detailing, get some roses on the bows, a statue of us at the top and make a ten tiers." Ruby said. Weiss's head whipped to look at her.
"Ten tiers?!" Weiss exclaimed. "Who are we inviting? All of Remnant?!" Ruby tapped Weiss's nose.
"No, silly. Everyone can get as much cake as they want and we'll still have leftovers." Ruby explained. Weiss looked at her.
"My Love, you do realise the only part of the cake we're taking home is the statue and the top cake, right?" Weiss asked. Ruby looked at her, appalled that Weiss would even suggest letting the rest of the cake go to waste.
"Oh, why don't you just cut my heart out and eat it right in front of me!" Ruby sobbed dramatically. Weiss blinked at her.
"Can't we just get a six tiered cake? I mean, how are we going to cut it if it's ten tiers?" Weiss asked. Ruby looked thoughtful.
"I guess you're right." Ruby's eyes widened as a thought occurred to her.
"Oh and we need to make sure our dresses are roomy." Ruby said. Weiss raised an eyebrow, silently asking Ruby to elaborate. Ruby laughed.
"In case we wind up having to have a shotgun wedding, silly." Ruby said. A very deep pink blush spread across Weiss's body as her blue eyes grew wide and for once, Ruby found herself questioning if her wife-to-be had a breeding kink. To be fair, it wouldn't come as a huge surprise if Weiss did. One, Weiss loved kids and two, Weiss would always get really interested whenever Ruby mentioned having kids. And three, Weiss loved rubbing Ruby's belly when they had after "bonding" cuddles and when they cuddled in general. Ruby shrugged. Eh, wouldn't be the weirdest thing in the world. They didn't have a set number anyway. Another loud shriek interrupted Ruby's thoughts.
"What in the world is Blake doing to Yang to get her to sing high soprano like that?!" Weiss yelled, broken from her trance where she was likely imagining a swollen Ruby carrying their first child. Ruby shrugged and leaned in.
"Do we want to know?" Ruby asked. Weiss shuddered.
"No, I do not." Weiss said. Ruby nodded.
"Me either." Ruby said, returning to her binder. Or at least she tried to when she heard her sister begging Blake in a really high, desperate voice. Ruby and Weiss looked at each other, very put out from the situation happening next door to them.
"Whatever Blake's doing must be really good for Yang to be begging like that." Ruby observed. Weiss nodded.
"Must be." Weiss said. The two looked at each other.
"Bathroom?" They both asked at the same time. Ruby stood up and picked up her binder and grabbed a few pillows while Weiss grabbed their blankets. Weiss and Ruby made their way into the bathroom and closed the door behind them.
Two Hours Later
Yang happily skipped through the halls, Blake beside her, holding her hand. Yang was on cloud nine and nothing could bring her off of it.
"You know Blake, today's a beautiful morning!" Yang said, happily. Blake had to bite back a laugh.
"It sure is, Love. It sure is." Blake said as Yang continued to skip next to her. She spotted Ruby and Weiss at a table, looking over what appeared to be a large binder. Yang spotted them too and practically dragged Blake over to say hello. Yang plopped herself down at the table with Blake taking a seat next to Weiss. Ruby and Weiss both glared at them. Blake at least had the dignity to look sheepish. Yang though, did not.
"Hello, beautiful little sister!" Yang said, planting planting kiss on Ruby's cheek. Ruby grumbled under her breath. Yang leaned across the table to plant a kiss on Weiss's cheek as well.
"Hello, beautiful sister-in-law!" Yang said, cheerily. Weiss glared at her, once again trying to figure out if she could freeze Yang with her mind. Once again, there was no result.
"So uh, sleep well?" Blake asked, smiling sheepishly. Ruby and Weiss glared at her, harshly. Blake laughed sheepishly.
"Heh, sorry." Blake apologized. Ruby and Weiss just shook their heads at her. Yang hummed merrily as she looked down at the binder, lavender eyes widening as she realized what it was.
"Ruby, you brought out the wedding planner! Good for you!" Yang said. Her eyes landed on a mouth watering chocolate cake.
"Ooh, I like this one." Yang said, tapping on it. Ruby slammed her hand down on the binder.
"I'm sorry, who's wedding planner is this?" Ruby asked, eyebrow raised. Yang shrugged, too in a good mood to care. Yang drummed her fingers on the table, scatting to herself. Blake laughed while Weiss and Ruby tried desperately to block them both out. Yang hummed merrily as a thought occurred to her.
"You know, I heard that they got the Dracones game back in stock." Yang said, leaning in to whisper conspiratorially. Ruby stiffened next to her as she slowly lifted her head to looked at her big sister, silver eyes wide.
"Really?!" Ruby whisper-shrieked. Yang nodded. She looked around before continuing on.
"We could.... go out and purchase it." Yang said, a conspiratorial smile on her face. Weiss raised an eyebrow.
"How?" Weiss asked. "In case you've forgotten Yang, we're kinda on lockdown at the moment." Weiss gestured with her head, indicating their guard detail that was stationed a few tables away from them. The man and the woman both had books in front of their faces but Weiss, Ruby, Yang and Blake knew they were watching them. And they knew that there were a lot more. Ruby and Blake both frowned in the guards' direction while Weiss rolled her eyes at the guards. Yang waved a hand.
"I wouldn't worry. We have powers, don't we?" Yang said. Ruby looked thoughtful.
"Didn't Ironwood forbid us from using our powers outside of training?" Ruby asked. Yang raised an eyebrow at her.
"You want the game or not?" Yang asked.
"Oh, I definitely want the game." Ruby said, quickly. Yang shrugged.
"Then I don't see the problem." She stood up and stretched.
"Meet me at the west corridor in five minutes." Yang said, loud enough for the guard detail to hear. Ruby, Weiss and Blake all raised their eyebrows at her before realizing what Yang was doing.
"Oh, I'll be there. I just have to go get this painting I left drying in the art room." Ruby said, loud enough for the guard detail to hear. Weiss nodded.
"And I need to pick up a song sheet from the music room." Weiss said.
"I'll be there." Blake said. Yang nodded.
"Great. I just need to take care of something first. Remember, the west hall." Yang said. Ruby, Weiss and Blake gave her thumbs up. The four girls all stood up, Ruby grabbing her wedding planner and then they walked off, their guard detail a few steps behind.
Five Minutes Later
Blake walked down the hall of the west corridor, looking for Yang. The woman guard followed her at a distance. Blake looked into each room she passed as she walked. She opened a closet door and went inside. The woman waited for a few minutes, brows furrowing when Blake didn't walk back out. The woman crossed the hall and walked into the closet, venturing further into it when she didn't see Blake. The woman looked around the closet in confusion for a few minutes before quickly realizing that she had been following a clone the whole time. But before she could exit the closet to look for the real Blake, a gust of wind blew the closet door closed and the sound of something heavy being dragged over to the door rang out in the tiny closer.
Blake dragged a large desk over to the closet door and pushed the desk up against it. She let out a breath and dusted off her hands. Pounding rang out in the closet as the woman banged on the door, trying to get out.
"Sorry!" Blake yelled, not feeling sorry at all. She turned on her heels and ran back down the hall to the real meet up spot.
Meanwhile
A guard tailed Ruby all the way to the art room. Ruby looked around and then walked into the art room. The guard moved out of his hiding spot and followed Ruby in. The art room was empty. The guard scratched his head in confusion. He spotted a canvas propped up on an easel. The guard walked over to it and turned the easel around. The canvas had a painting of Ruby standing outside the art room, a hand on the sliding door while her other arm was raised in a jaunty salute. The guard looked at it, confused. He looked up to find the actual Ruby in the same pose from the painting. The guard's eyes widened and he ran for the door. Ruby saluted him and slammed the door shut and barred it with a broom. She waved at the guard cheerily while he tried to open the door, did a little twirl and skipped off merrily, scatting to herself.
Meanwhile
A guard followed Weiss through the halls to the music room. Weiss walked inside and the guard followed. She found Weiss browsing through music sheets, her back turned to her. The guard walked up to Weiss. She was only an arm's length away from Weiss when she found herself unable to move. She looked down to see a glyph under her feet. Weiss neatly arranged the music sheets into a stack and set them back down. She looked at the guard.
"It's not polite to stalk people, you know." Weiss said. She walked past the guard and to the door as the guard stared after her in shock. The glyph dissipated as Weiss closed the door behind her. Weiss blasted the door with ice, freezing it in place. The guard ran towards the door and banged on it.
"There's food and water in there for you. On the top shelf!" Weiss yelled over her shoulder as she walked away.
Meanwhile
The guard followed Yang through the halls. She had stopped at just about every room she had passed. It had been five minutes, past that and she was nowhere near the west hall. The guard was starting to think that something was up. Yang opened another door and this time walked in. The guard followed her. Yang was sitting in a chair, arms folded and looking at the guard expectantly.
"Oh, good! You made it. I was actually worried for a minute that you were gonna catch on." Yang said. The guard raised an eyebrow at her.
"What are you playing at, Xiao Long?" The guard asked. Yang shrugged.
"Nothing, really. Just a day out with my lovely fiancée, my lovely sister and my lovely soon-to-be sister-in-law without you guys breathing down our necks." Yang said. She stood up and kicked the chair at the guard and using Ember Celica, launched herself towards the door. She backflipped out of the room, gave the guard a salute and locked the door and slammed it close behind her.
"Ta ta!" Yang called. She melted the door knob off and walked away.
"Xiao Long!!!" The guard yelled. Yang spun back to the door as she walked backwards.
"That's Belladonna to you, good sir! Or Belladonna-Xiao Long. Or Belladonna-Long if you want to shorten it." Yang said. She spun back around and ran off down the halls. The guard grabbed his walkie talkie and turned it on.
"The Maidens are escaping. I repeat, the Maidens are escaping." He sighed. "Again." He sighed and rubbed his temples. He really needed a pay raise. He wasn't paid enough to put up with this.
Meanwhile
Yang ran down the hall and made a sharp turn to the left as she ran. She jumped over a bench and skidded to a halt in front of Ruby, Blake and Weiss.
"Did everyone shake off their guard?" Yang asked. Blake and Weiss nodded while Ruby gave a thumbs up. Yang smiled.
"Great. Let's go!" Yang walked over to the large window and unlocked it and pushed it open. Weiss, Ruby and Blake walked over to stand beside her.
"I still don't see why we couldn't have taken an airship." Weiss said. Yang looked at her.
"Because Ironwood probably has guards there too. Duh." Yang said. Weiss raised an eyebrow.
"You just want to fly on a Nevermore, don't you?" Weiss asked, clearly seeing through Yang's poor excuse.
"Doesn't everyone?" Yang asked.
"Not a sane person, no." Weiss replied.
"Uh, guys?" Ruby said, eyes wide. She and Blake were both looking behind them. There were multiple guards coming around the corner. They spotted Weiss, Ruby, Yang and Blake and ran towards them.
"We have company!" Blake yelled. All four girls ran to the window and climbed on it.
"Get back here!" One guard yelled. Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang all linked hands.
"Remember," Yang said. "It's not the fall that'll kill you, it's the fear." Ruby, Weiss and Blake glared at her.
"Yang!" Ruby, Weiss and Blake yelled, simultaneously. Yang at least had the sense to look sheepish.
"What? A guy in an action movie said it once." Yang said. Ruby, Weiss and Blake continued to glare.
"On three!" Yang said. All four girls turned their attention back to the ground below them.
"One.... Two.... Three!" Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang jumped just as the guards made it to the window. They free fell to the ground and Weiss summoned up a glyph. The guards stared down at where Ruby, Weiss, Yang and Blake had jumped, silently wondering just how fired they were. A loud screech tore through air as a Nevermore soared upwards, Ruby, Weiss, Yang and Blake on its back. The guards gaped in shock and awe as the four girls soared away.
"Xiao Long, suckers!" Yang yelled, cackling like The Wicked Witch of the West. The guards could only stare as the Nevermore soared away, becoming a speck in the distance as Yang's cackling faded. Yup, they were so fired.
Yang continued to cackle as the Nevermore flew on. Ruby looked at her older sister in concern while Blake silently wondered if Yang had hit her head on something as they fell and Weiss looked like she wanted to push Yang off the Nevermore. Even the Nevermore was concerned. It gave a concerned squawk as they flew on. Weiss patted it's head.
"It's alright, Charlie. Yang's just having a moment." Weiss reassured the Nevermore. Blake raised an eyebrow at her.
"You named it?" Blake asked.
"Ruby did." Weiss said. Blake looked at Ruby.
"Charlie? Seriously?" Blake asked. Ruby shrugged.
"It looked like a Charlie." Ruby explained. "Besides, I didn't know if it was a boy or a girl and Charlie's gender neutral." Blake nodded.
"Fair. That's fair." Blake said. Yang was still doing her imitation of The Wicked Witch of the West's iconic cackle. Blake put a hand on Yang's shoulder, pausing Yang's cackling.
"Yang, Love, please stop." Blake gently instructed.
"Before we throw you off the Nevermore." Weiss threatened. Yang glared at her.
"You're just jealous that you can't do the laugh." Yang said. Weiss's head whipped around to look at Yang.
"I can too!" Weiss yelled, shooting to her feet. Yang stood up as well.
"Oh, yeah? Prove it." Yang said. Weiss's eye twitched. Weiss took a deep breath and let out a pretty impressive imitation of The Wicked Witch of the West's laugh. Yang was impressed.
"I'll admit. That's a pretty good imitation." Yang said. Weiss smiled proudly.
"But I'm still better." Yang said. Weiss's smile fell off her face and she glared at Yang.
"Oh, yeah?" Weiss said. Yang nodded.
"Yeah." Yang said.
"Cackle-off. Loser has to buy the winner whatever they want when we get to Atlas." Weiss said. Yang smirked.
"You're on." Yang said. And that's how Ruby, Blake and Charlie the Nevermore wound up being witness to the first ever cackle-off.
Thirty Minutes Later
Thanks to her vocal training and tenure as a singer, Weiss won the cackle-off, Yang's untrained lungs failing her twenty minutes in. They landed in an alley in Atlas and once Weiss had desummoned Charlie, they walked out of the alley and onto the sidewalk.
"So, where's the nearest video game store?" Yang questioned. Ruby was tapping away on her scroll.
"Game Set is.... a few feet ahead of us, actually." Ruby said. She, Weiss, Yang and Blake looked up to see a large sign advertising Game Set literally a few feet ahead of them. The four girls looked at each other and shrugged, walking the few feet to the store. Yang opened the glass door and Weiss, Ruby and Blake headed inside, Yang stepping inside after them. The four girls scanned the game racks until they found it. Dracones: Realm of Shadows. An angelic choir started up as Yang picked the game up. She, Weiss and Blake whipped their heads to look at Ruby, who was playing the angelic choir sound effect on her scroll. Ruby blushed.
"Sorry." Ruby said, sheepishly. She hit stop on her scroll. The four girls headed over to the check out and paid for their game exited the store.
"Now to get back to Atlas Academy to play it!" Ruby exclaimed, spinning in circles. Weiss and Yang laughed at Ruby's cheeriness while Blake looked around.
"You know, it's been a while since we were able to just walk around and shop." Blake said. Ruby stopped spinning, stumbling a little as all the spinning caught up to her. Weiss gently grabbed her to steady her. Yang raised an eyebrow.
"Whatchu going on about, Blakey?" Yang asked. Blake looked back at her.
"I'm saying, Love, when's the last time any of us shopped around without worrying about our trip being suddenly cut short because of the guards?" Blake asked. Yang, Ruby and Weiss went silent as they thought. They couldn't come up with anything.
"Well, as team leader, I say we go shopping!" Ruby said.
"I second that!" Yang yelled.
"I do too." Blake said.
"Hear, hear!" Weiss exclaimed. All four girls looked at each other and laughed before taking off down the sidewalk. Weiss skidded to a halt as she passed by a store. She backed up to look at the sign. Rewind Rental. Her eyes widened.
"Guys!" Weiss yelled. Ruby and Yang both stumbled to stops as Blake slid to a halt. They looked back at Weiss, eyes wide. Weiss pointed up at the sign.
"Remember that rental store I was telling you guys about? The one that just opened?" Weiss asked. Ruby, Yang and Blake all nodded. Weiss pointed up at the sign.
"This is it." Weiss said. She pulled open the door and Ruby, Blake and Yang all walked in and Weiss went in after them. Their eyes widened as they took in the rows upon rows of movies. The four girls wordlessly split up, Ruby going over to the fantasy section, Blake going into the mystery section, Yang to the action section and Weiss to the horror section. Weiss scanned the shelves for a good horror movie as she walked down the aisle. She saw the Nightmare on Elm Street series, the Halloween series, the Friday the Thirteenth series, the Hellraiser series, the Saw series and multiple other horror movie series as well as tons of stand alone movies. She even saw The Quiet Place Part Two. Unfortunately, Weiss had seen just about every horror movie on the shelves. She was about to give up and go into the fantasy section with Ruby when something caught her eye. She knelt down and saw a DVD cover with a picture of a little girl on it. The title The Doll stood out in big, bold letters. Weiss picked it up. The little girl was very pretty looking. She had tan skin, light blonde curly hair and pure green eyes with freckles dotted along her nose and cheeks. She had never heard of this movie before. Weiss looked on the back and read the description.
A young girl lives in a quiet, rural town with her toy maker father. All is peaceful until one day when a string of murders happen and leave the town and police confused and terrified. The girl's father insists on not getting involved and staying out of the way, so he forbids the girl from leaving the house. But as the murders pile up and start to become more horrific, the girl decides to investigate.
Well, it certainly sounded interesting. Weiss tool the DVD with her as she went to the front and met up with Ruby, Yang and Blake. Ruby had Frozen II while Yang was holding Raiders of the Lost Ark. Blake had Knives Out.
"Careful, Ruby wants to rent out Frozen II." Yang warned.
"Be prepared to get the songs stuck in your head." Blake said. Weiss rolled her eyes fondly.
"Trust me, I know. I still have Let It Go living rent free in my head." Weiss said. Ruby began humming Let It Go under her breath. She stopped when she noticed that Yang, Weiss and Blake were looking at her.
"What?" Ruby asked, defensively.
"Nothing." Yang said. "Nothing at all." They headed to the check out and the guy behind it rang them up without much fanfare. At least until he got to Weiss's movie.
"Woah, are you sure you wanna check this one out?" The guy asked, staring at the movie. Weiss raised an eyebrow.
"Why wouldn't I be sure? I put put up there, didn't i?" Weiss asked. The guy shook his head.
"You're not getting it. This franchise is pretty dark." The guy said. Weiss looked at him.
"There's a whole franchise?" Weiss asked. The guy nodded.
"Yeah. What You Are in the Dark. There's a forty-six movies in it and it currently has a series on Dustflix. The movies are dark, let me tell ya. Couldn't sleep for weeks after the first one." The guy said. Weiss laughed.
"I watched Nightmare on Elm Street and R.E.C when i was eight. Both of them before bedtime. I think I can handle a horror movie about a doll." Weiss said. The guy shrugged.
"Your funeral." He said. Ruby and Blake paid for their movies. Weiss looked expectantly at Yang. Yang, remembering the condition of the cackle-off from earlier, sighed and took out some extra lien to rent Weiss's movie as well. Weiss patted her cheek as she grabbed her movie.
"Pleasure doing business with you, sweet sister-in-law." Weiss said. Yang grumbled under her breath. The four girls walked out of the store.
"Onto the next store!" Ruby yelled. The four girls laughed as they headed down the sidewalk.
Two Hours Later
Yang, Ruby, Weiss and Blake all dragged bags upon bags of books, movies, games and shirts behind them as they headed over to a cafè. They had perhaps gone gone little overboard. Their aching feet certainly thought so. Yang dropped down into a chair and took off her boot to rub at her foot.
"I have no regrets." Yang announced. Ruby whined as she shifted her feet a little.
"Well I do!" Ruby whined. Weiss nodding, sighing in relief as she got off her aching feet.
"Yeah, i think we overdid it." Weiss said. Blake rubbed her sore wrists as she sat.
"Y'think?" Blake asked, gesturing at the large bruise under Yang's left eye.
"Kid had it coming." Yang grumbled, adjusting the Kayda shirt she was wearing. It was several sizes too big for her but Yang didn't seem to care. Ruby rubbed her upper arm where teeth marks where still visible.
"Man, those ten year olds really are something." Ruby said, referring to the pack of ten year olds she had to fight to get some Animon card packs. Her only solace was the Libelle shirt she was wearing and the bag full of Animon cards that was at her feet. Blake nursed an injury.
"At least you didn't have to fight a bunch of thirteen year olds for the Mystic Falls Diaries series." Blake said, gesturing to the bag full of novels at her feet. She adjusted her own Dracones shirt, this one of Tanwen. Weiss adjusted her Dalinda shirt.
"I didn't have to fight anyone for those horror movies I got." Weiss said. Blake, Ruby and Yang raised their eyebrows at her.
"What sane individual in their right mind would fight you?" Yang asked. Weiss looked thoughtful.
"Fair point." Weiss said. She looked at everyone's shirts and then at her own. All four shirts were several sizes too big for any of them.
"Did you guys check the size tags on your shirts before fighting people for them?" Weiss asked. Yang, Blake and Ruby all lowered their heads.
"No." They said, simultaneously. Weiss sighed.
"Me either." Weiss said. Yang shrugged.
"Ah well, too late to take the back now." Yang said. Ruby looked at her.
"Uh yeah, Yangarang, we got banned." Ruby said. Yang shrugged.
"You know how many times i got banned from Junior's?" Yang asked. Blake raised her hand eagerly.
"Ooh, ooh, I know this one! Five hundred and sixteen times." Blake said. Yang nodded.
"And how many times did I listen?" Yang asked.
"None of them." Blake said. Yang leaned back.
"See? A ban only means anything if you adhere by it." Yang said. Weiss looked at her.
"Yang, you do realise that you can be arrested for not abiding by a ban, right?" Weiss asked. Yang didn't answer her, continuing to recline back in her chair. A waitress came over to take their order.
"Do you girls need anything?" She asked. As if on cue, Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang's stomachs grumbled. Apparently, fighting kids and preteens for ill fitting shirts and other things made you work up an appetite.
"Do you guys have a menu?" Yang asked.
One Hour Later
The waitress stared at Ruby, Yang, Weiss and Blake in horror as they went in for their fifth helping of the Happy Hour platter. The Happy Hour platter came with a huge helping of Texas cheese fries, fifty sliders and a huge basket of wings. And she had just watched four, skinny teenage girls devour the whole thing and ask for seconds, thirds and fourths. Ruby thunked her head down on the table.
"I'm full." Ruby said. Weiss tapped out next.
"Me too." Blake groaned as she leaned back in her chair.
"I am as well." Yang, poor, sweet Yang tapped out last.
"Curse you, you delicious, cheesy fries." Yang sobbed as she plopped her head down. The waitress collected herself.
"I suppose you want the bill now?" She asked. Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang moaned out a yes. The waitress walked away and returned a few minutes later with their bill. Weiss took one look at it and laid down the money, adding in an extra large tip. The four girls groaned as they pushed themselves up and grabbed their bags and began the long trek to an alley, tossing thank yous over their shoulders to the waitress. Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang slipped into an alley a few feet away from the cafè. Ruby slumped against the wall while Yang sank down to the alley floor, Blake following her down.
"So, I suppose we go back and face the music?" Yang questioned. Ruby, Weiss and Blake all groaned.
"I suppose." Weiss said.
"I guess." Blake said.
"Can't we just sleep here?" Ruby whined. Weiss summoned up a glyph and used it to summon up Charlie. The Nevermore squawked and stretched its wings, accepting a head scratch from Weiss. Weiss climbed up Charlie and extending her hand down to Ruby who grabbed it and climbed up, Blake following. Yang threw their bags up to Blake and then climbed in as well.
"So, does anyone have a good excuse for Ironwood when we get back?" Ruby asked as Charlie took off. Yang looked up at the sky that had turned a pinkish-purple with streaks of orange and red as they flew in the direction of Atlas Academy.
"I don't think there's any excuse in the world that can account for us being gone all day." Yang said.
"Well, I for one, have no regrets about today." Weiss said. Blake nodded.
"Me either." Ruby nodded as well.
"I don't either." Ruby said. Yang looked thoughtful.
"Think Ironwood would accept that excuse?" Yang asked. All four girls looked at each other and burst out laughing. They continued laughing all the way back to Atlas Academy.
