Keeley’s already running late after chatting over tea with Rebecca when her phone starts ringing; it takes her a minute to realize she doesn’t have her phone, she has Rebecca’s, and she’s already answered and put the phone to her ear.
“Hello?” she answers with a wince, realizing she must have accidentally grabbed Rebecca’s phone off the table and shoved it in her purse without realizing when she’d left her place.
“Hello, Ms. Welton? I’m calling with your blood test results,” says a female voice, and Keeley’s eyes widen. Playing into it, she swallows.
“Oh?” she asks, and the woman continues.
“Based on your hormone levels, it appears you’re pregnant,” she replies, and Keeley freezes, hand on her keys. “Ms. Welton?”
“Yes- sorry. Just takin’ it in,” Keeley’s voice cracks, and the woman offers a chuckle. “We’ll have to get you in for an office appointment as soon as you’re able.”
“Can I call you back? I have to- check my schedule,” Keeley fudges, and as soon as the woman agrees, hangs the phone up so she can let out a loud squeal.
“Oi!” she looks up at Roy’s gruff voice as he yanks open the passenger door, and claps her hands over her mouth, unable to stop the beaming smile overtaking her face. “What’s the racket about?”
“I know a secret,” she tells him, and his eyebrows draw together in response. “I may have Rebecca’s phone by accident. And I may have answered a call before I realized.”
Roy’s eyebrows draw higher.
“Keels…” he starts, and she leans over, covering his mouth with her fingertips.
“She’s pregnant,” she whispers, and watches as Roy’s eyes widen until his eyebrows are practically in his hair.
“Fuckin’ Lasso,” his mumbles against her hands, and he sounds almost proud. “But babe- you won’t be at the club all day. Neither will I for that matter, we’ve got that shoot for Glamour. We won’t see her until dinner tonight.”
“Shit, that’s right,” Keeley frowns, gnawing on her bottom lip in thought. “Okay- I have an idea. Ted’s not left for the day yet, I heard him telling Rebecca he and Henry had a call planned so she left ahead of him. We stop by, tell him- then let him be the one to tell Rebecca. Yeah?”
Roy smiles, as softly as she’s ever seen him, and then leans forward to press his mouth to hers.
“Yeah, babe. Brilliant.”

Rebecca’s exhausted by the time she slots her key in the door to unlock it. It had taken her only a few minutes after Keeley had left to realize they’d accidentally switched phones, but the hassle of trying to flag her down to switch them back wasn’t worth it when she knew her friend would be back for dinner that evening.
She’d made the decision to come home for lunch, and had Higgins call Ted to let him know not to come pick her up like they’d originally planned- she’d have her driver bring her, and they’d return for afternoon practice together.
She jumps a little when she realized nearly every imaginable surface is covered in flowers- truly covered- and in the midst of the array of flowers was ted, a bouquet of daisies in his hands and his face so impossibly soft her stomach somersaults.
“Hey baby,” he says, and Rebecca’s lips reflexively curl into a smile.
“What’s happening?” she asks, setting her purse and coat down by the door and taking a step forward.
“I’m pregnant,” he says, and then blinks, shaking his head. “No, wait, I’m getting ahead of myself now. We’re pregnant. Well- you’re pregnant. I did the fun part, and you get to do the actual hard part where you make the baby and carry it and grow it for nine months and bring it into this world and-”
“Ted,” Rebecca whispers, and he swallows, cutting himself off.
“Doc called your phone, but Keeley has it, and she answered- told Roy because they’re a whole package deal, y’know, and they had that shoot today but I was still here, and...well, I know this ain’t the conventional way to find out, but I reckon we haven’t exactly been conventional now, have we?” Rebecca shakes her head, eyes glistening, and swallows hard around the lump in her throat.
“We’re having a baby,” she finally manages to get out, reaches Ted’s side so she can grip his sweater, grounding herself, and he sets the daisies aside as he rested his forehead against hers, brushing their noses together.
“Yeah, darlin’. We’re havin’ a baby,” he murmurs in reply, tilting his head so he can press his lips to her forehead.
“Did you buy out a flower shop, Ted?” Rebecca asked after a moment, smothering a laugh as she realizes just how many flowers are in their home, and Ted shrugs.
“I wanted to buy you flowers, but didn’t know which ones, so I just bought ‘em all. Need lots of daisies though. I’ve always thought they were the friendliest flower, you know? I just love ‘em,” he tells her, and Rebecca lifts a hand to stroke down his face, thumb brushing along his lower lip.
“You gave me a miracle, Ted,” she tells him, and when he lifts his eyes to meet hers, she finds the same unnamable emotion thick in them as she feels in her chest.
“Think that was a team effort,” he replies, but he isn’t really joking anymore- she can tell. “I didn’t come here expecting to find my life again, but I walked into the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It- well, Becca, it gave me you.”
Rebecca feels her lower lip tremble, and the only answer she can give him is to seal her mouth to his, arms tight around his torso as she presses as much of herself against him as possible.
“I love you,” she whispers when they part, and feels his mustache twitch against her as he smiles.
“I know,” he whispers back, lips touching the tip of her nose. “I love you too.”
