She watched the outside world on a rainy night through the glass window. She did not see a particular thing actually. She just felt that it seemed the world outside the window was much more different than the world she had lived in for the past two years. That world that she always wondered how it would be like if she was just an ordinary person living a common life, just like the others. She took a deep breath. She had realized all the hardship that would come when she took this path. There was no going back. There would be no regret for whatever happened because she loved the present.
She glanced at the clock over the drawer. It had already passed midnight. She wondered why he had not come. She missed him badly and wanted to meet him sooner. While daydreaming, suddenly she heard the beeping sound from the apartment door. Her heart started beating rapidly. How long they had been apart from each other? What was the last time she saw him? She could not really remember. It felt that it happened a long time ago but actually, it was not that long.
“Hyunbeen-ah, you’ve been here already? Mianhae I’m late. The flight was delayed so I arrived quite late.” He said tiredly after watching her sit on the sofa near the window.
“Kwenchana. I came about an hour ago. It is okay as long as you can make it. The most important thing is you are already here. The rest doesn’t matter. You are enough for me” She said while giving him her infamous dimple smile.
“Hyunbeen-ah, are you okay? I don’t know you can say such a cheesy thing like that. It makes me feel weird but happy. Do you miss me so much?” He said at her while he is smiling from ear to ear.
Honestly, it was also surprised her that she could say such a cheesy thing like that. She was not a romantic person and did not like saying sweet or cheesy things. She liked it a lot when she heard him saying those sweet but sometimes cringe words. Those mushy things that he said always made her lips smile unknowingly. It was just that she could not do so, being mushy she meant, it was not her specialty. Her friends and fans had known that she, Shin Hyunbeen, an actress who had debuted since 11 years ago, the infamous Jang Gyeoul Ssaem from Hospital Playlist, was not an average girl like others. He also had known that fact. He, the ex-priest wannabe turned to her lover in the drama, the charming Yoo Yeonsok, knew it better than the entire world.
He put his bag immediately on the floor. After that, he walked towards the kitchen then took a bottle of water from the fridge and pour them into the cup he was holding. It felt so good, he thought. He was happy he could be here at the moment. He was glad that in his hectic schedule he could spare some time to come here, to their rendezvous place, his only escapade to keep his sanity intact from his crazy activities every day.
He stepped out from the kitchen, moving closer to the sofa where she sat. She patted the spot beside her, signaling him to sit near her. He gladly sat there than leaning against her shoulder that felt so comfortable.
“How was your day, Hyunbeen-ah? Is it as boring as mine?,” he talked while encircling his arm around her waist. He patted lightly there.
“Just as usual Oppa. I had my drama filming today. It was fun. My partner in the drama, Kyuhwan Oppa is really funny. Even my manager felt surprised by his joke. How about yours Oppa?” She spoke softly while closing her eyes inhaling the scent of his perfume.
“Not so good. My flight got delayed so I had to wait for a long time. I felt stuffed. Thank God you can spare your time today. You're like my medicine Hyunbeen-ah. You are the only one that can make my day from worse to the better. I miss you.” He spoke seriously. He seemed so tired from his tone of speaking.
“I miss you too, Oppa. It feels like that we have not seen each other for so long but actually it was not. What was the last time we see each other? A week ago?”
“Nah, it’s been almost two weeks. Two weeks not seeing you is too much for me. Don’t you see, I’ve become thinner than two weeks ago? It is because I miss you.”
“Ah, Oppa. Don’t talk like that. It is because you often miss your breakfast that you become thinner. You always forget it if I don’t remind you to eat properly nowadays. You have so many activities but you don’t eat properly. Please don’t do that, okay?”
“Ne, ommoni. Ahrasso. I won’t forget to eat my breakfast from now on if you give me a kiss on the cheek.”
“Ah Oppa, this is not bargaining. It’s an order.”
“But… I haven’t got your kiss lately. Don’t I get one today? Please.” He said with his puppy eyes beaming brightly.
“You haven’t been a good boy lately, Oppa. Why would I give you a kiss then? “ She said straightly while crossing her arms in front of her chest.
“Don’t be like that Hyunbeen-ah. I know you want it too. It’s all over your face. You also want to kiss me so badly.” He said mockingly.
“Oppa, it’s not true. You’re really… I don’t know why you are so confident. Fine, for this night I’ll grant your wish. By the way, only in the cheek, Oppa? Are you sure? I can give you more than that you know. ” She spoke seductively giving her dimple smile that can melt every sane man in this world.
“Ah, Kwak Hyunbeen, you will be the death of me.” He grinned widely and was ready to get his wish granted.
