Work Text:
The loud ringing of his alarm woke Jiang Cheng up, at exact 8:30 in the morning the blaring tone did not stop until he reached out a hand to his nightstand feeling around to find his phone and turning the damn thing off. Once the noise stopped Jiang Cheng stayed buried in his bed and closed his eyes, he was already half asleep when his phone started ringing again and with a loud growl Jiang Cheng sat up closed the snooze button…. 8:47 am..?!
What the fuck he just nodded off and its already fifteen minutes! Groaning he throw his blanket away and reluctantly stood up to start his day.
Preparing his coffee while he took a bath and changed into his uniform, he made a sandwich and finished his breakfast as quick as he could. When he was done he made sure the locks are all in place and left his small apartment. Once he reached the parking lot his eyes widened seeing some kids playing around his car.
“Hey get off!” he sneered scaring the kids away as he stalked towards his car, went and drove off towards the station.
Jiang Cheng didn’t expect to be a police officer, he was supposed to be taking a business related course when his family got mugged, house was burned, parents got killed him and his older sister orphaned at sixteen and nineteen. They stayed at their grandparents house and from then on Jiang Cheng decided to become a police officer, something about saving people and uphold justice to protect those in need.. A speech and motivation he had when he was starting but after long years he realized those were nothing but childish hope, the ugly reality of his work and it’s surroundings made him realize that there is no place safe, and people will be an ass regardless of how honorable their job was.
Sighing he arrived at the station, nodding at some of his co workers as he headed to his desk.
“Good morning” Wen Ning greeted and rushed towards him to hand him a cup of coffee only to stumble along the way spilling the coffee into his coat.
“Shit! Careful!” Jiang Cheng groaned looking down at his coat.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry I didn’t mean it!” Wen Ning their newbie looked apologetic as he tried to wipe the stain.
“It’s fine” Jiang Cheng shrugged his coat off giving him a small pat on the back. “Where’s Song Lan?” he asked while walking towards his desk setting his coat down.
“He left earlier” Wen Ning replied following him to his desk. “Something about the case you two are working on.. “
Frowning Jiang Cheng clicked his tongue and just in time he felt his phone vibrate. Knowing that it was probably Song Lan he didn’t hesitated on answering it “Yes?”
“I texted you an address come over at once, there was a tip I received and it’s most likely our guy is here”
“Gotcha” Jiang Cheng hang up grabbed his keys from the coat and looked at Wen Ning “Gotta go! Remind Mianmian about those documents I requested, I need it now” he gave the other man another pat before rushing outside. Jiang Cheng started the car checking the address that was sent to him and drove off, he was a little anxious because they’ve been looking for this guy for weeks now and they still had no clue where he was so today is really a good opportunity to catch him.
When he arrived at the building he was already jogging towards the apartment only to see Song Lan meeting him with a frown on his face.
“What happened?” Jiang Cheng looked behind his partner and frowned.
“Not there”
“False alarm?” Jiang Cheng sighed, false alarm again.
“Yeah.. But he’d been here he just left a day ago, the tip was late.. Though I found this” he showed Jiang Cheng a burner phone sealed in a plastic bag. Jiang Cheng took it and they started walking out the complex.
“Hopefully we could get something useful from this” he murmured and Song Lan only hummed in approval as he went ahead, he must have been frustrated so Jiang Cheng let him be. As they rounded the corner to where their car is parked a bicycle suddenly appeared out of nowhere and hit Song Lan.
“Hey! Are you okay?” Jiang Cheng jogged towards his partner crouching while rubbing his leg.
“Fine don’t worry” Song Lan stood up and they looked at the kid who kept apologizing to them. “It’s fine kid, next time be careful around here” Song Lan gave the boy a small pat on the head and turned to Jiang Cheng.
“Are you going back to the station?”
“No.. I have to check the witness, he said he’s niece is ready to give her statement so I’m picking them up today”
“Ah okay.. Hey don’t worry we will catch that Xue Yang guy” Jiang Cheng gave him a pat on the shoulder.
“Thanks I’ll see you soon then”
“Yeah” Jiang Cheng waved at him heading to his car and started driving back. This case had been going on for a while without a progress, When their team took the case they thought it could be handled easily. But with the victim being blind couldn’t really provide more information about the suspect, only gave his name which didn’t appear on any of their records, his niece was able to describe what he looked like leading them only with a sketch and trade mark severed pinky other than that she refused to say anything too scared to speak but thankfully now she decided to say something. Jiang Cheng had a feeling she knew more than her uncle about this guy and any information would be very useful to them no—
Jiang Cheng immediately stepped on the breaks jolting his car as he stared wide with wide eyes in front of him, a man just suddenly showed out of nowhere.
“WHAT THE HELL?! ARE YOU WISHING AN EARLY DEATH?! DO YOU SEE THE LIGHTS ARE GREEN?!” Jiang Cheng screamed poking his head out of the window before looking around pointing at the traffic lights.
Said man jumped on his feet and trembled, probably terrified at being ran over and then got even more scared after he started screaming at him. Hearing some horns blaring behind him he went out of the car, upon realizing he was a cop the driver behind him stopped and he signaled him to just overtake. Clicking his tongue he approached the man and frowned. He was dressed weirdly, like on the period dramas, even the hair and accessories looks authentic he could probably be mistaken as an actor.. Wait is he an actor? That face definitely screams actor, he was very handsome too. Shaking his head he shooed those thoughts away from his head.
“Oi! Why are you dressed like that? Go now you are causing traffic, you aren’t hurt right? Next time don’t just cross the road like that it’s very dangerous! I could hav—” he stopped his rambling when he saw the man approaching him with hurried steps and he backed away but the man reached him and suddenly hugged him tightly.
“Hey! Hey! What the fuck! Let go!” Jiang Cheng squirmed on his hold and groaned this man is strong! And what the fuck! They are in the road! People are looking at them and some were taking photos or videos too!
“I missed you” the man whispered against his ear and Jiang Cheng flushed red in anger and embarrassment but also because the hand on his waist is starting to move lower. Using all his strength he pushed the other away once he was free he grabbed the front of his robe and pinned him face down on the hood of his car and cuffed his wrist.
“You pervert! Just where the hell are you touching and sniffing me!” he hissed and looked around “PUT YOUR DAMN PHONES AWAY! SHOW IS OVER!” he yelled and escorted the man on the back seat shoving him inside, taking a deep breath he sat on the driver’s seat glaring at the other and started to drive off back to their station.
.
.
.
Jiang Cheng stared at the strange man sitting in front of his desk, the entire ride had been spent in silence but the prickling gaze that Jiang Cheng felt burn at the back of his head the entire ride back to the station. Sighing he grabbed the form and pen. "Whats your name?"
"Courtesy name Lan Xichen, Birth name Lan Huan" the man responded with a small smile.
"... Who the hell still have courtesy name.. What the fuck should I put here" he looked at the paper and then to the man.
"Lan Huan will do" Lan Huan smiled at him once again and Jiang Cheng frowned turning away to face his computer typing the name on their data records, as he hit entered he frowned at the results.
"No records..." he sighed and leaned against his chair. ".. What the hell are you even wearing did you attend some sort of event and tell me your real name, don’t play around with me” he pointed at Lan Huan.
“I already told you my name” he replied again and Jiang Cheng glanced at the sword that was lying on his table, he thought it was some prop but when he inspected it the blade was real.
“You even had a dangerous weapon with you, do you know that’s illegal?” he tapped at the sheath with a pen.
“You are still as beautiful as before” Lan Huan suddenly blurted out staring at him and Jiang Cheng felt his cheeks heat but the moment was short lived after hearing some snicker coming from the rest of his team who were observing the two since they arrived.
Jiang Cheng glared at them and it was enough to hush them and he made a loud groan and slouched on his chair.
“UGH!”
“Officer Jiang? Is something wrong?” Wen Ning asked and placed a cup of coffee on his desk looking at the two of them.
"This guy here is infuriating" Jiang Cheng hissed before sitting up "He doesn't have any records! ID or whatsoever!"
“Oh Wen Qionglin is here too” Lan Huan commented looking at Wen Ning and Jiang Cheng squinted at him.
“You know him?”
Wen Ning shook his head “No! I never seej him my entire life!” he glanced at Lan Huan before looking down at the desk where he saw the sword. “Oh that looks cool, is that real?” he asked reaching out for it but Jiang Cheng swatted his hand away.
“It’s real don’t touch it!” he hissed and grabbed another sheet of paper and the stamp pad. "Give me your hands" he held out his open palm motioning for him to hurry.
"Oh..." Lan Huan smiled and placed his hands on top of Jian Cheng's palm before he started to lace their fingers together and Jiang Cheng flinched.
“Hey!” Jiang Cheng pulled his hand away but Lan Huan held it in a tight grip. “What the hell are you doing? Let go!” the commotion on his desk caught the attention of his team.
“You asked for my hand”
“Yeah! But not like this! Im getting your finger print!” he hissed and he struggled for a moment before he successfully pressed Lan Huan’s thumb on the inkpad and stamped it down on the paper, this process continued with the rest of his fingers and once they are done he sighed.
“Here send it to Mianmian, tell her to run some search for these prints” he handed the paper to Wen Ning who nodded and left his desk.
Jiang Cheng stared at the belongings on his table. A sword, a flute, a strange looking pouch, a jade token and very strange looking orb who had a blue light illuminating inside it, he couldn’t help but notice how authentic these things look, definitely not some sort of props.
"Alright come here" Jiang Cheng stood up and escorted the other man to a small cell, unlocking it he removed the handcuffs around Lan Huan’s wrist and pushed him inside before locking the cell door and moved towards his desk. They had this cell just to detain some people while their case are on the process of if someone is gonna bail them out so it was located where they can easily see them which is also near Jiang Cheng’s desk.
The day progressed as usual, Jiang Cheng sipping his second cup of coffee for the day while going through some files and documents and he tried to focus on his work, key word.. ‘tried’ because throughout these hours Lan Huan’s gaze bore on the side of his skull. During the instances where he stole a glance to the man he was just sitting there with a small smile on his face looking at him. Some of the officers chatted with him too which he answered politely, Jiang Cheng is sure he would be able to convince the rest of his team to actually release him.
So when he turned to look at the direction of his cell Lan Huan’s smile became bigger.
"Okay! What do you need?!" Jiang Cheng snapped and he turned his attention towards the man standing up to walk towards his cell and Lan Huan did the same too as they faced each other.
"Nothing... Officer" Lan Huan smiled at him.
“You’ve been staring at me since I threw your ass in there” Jiang Cheng huffed.
There was a shy look on Lan Huan’s face before he started to speak “I just couldn’t stop admiring your beautiful face, the way your eyebrows scrunch when you are so concentrated on your work and when your lips pursed very lightly is quite adorable”
Jiang Cheng blinked trying to process what he heard and his cheeks flushed red, then low whistles and snickering could be heard in the station, Jiang Cheng turned to his team and snarled. “Quit it!” he turned back at Lan Huan pointing a finger at him. “Don’t make fun of me!” he hissed.
“I am not”
“I can see what’s going on here now” Mianmian arrived with a small smirk and glanced at Lan Huan. “I've never seen someone who got arrested and looked so happy, hello” She waved.
“Hello” Lan Huan greeted back.
“He is a weirdo” Jiang Cheng shrugged.
“You got yourself some unwanted attention, anyways here is the result of the prints”
“You think I didn’t know?” Jiang Cheng sighed and murmured a small thanks taking the paper from her.
“I apologise if I am making you uncomfortable.. It’s just I really wanted to see you” Lan Huan said with a small frown on his handsome face.
Jiang Cheng had to look away as he unfolded the letter skimming through the content. “Yes, you are making me uncomfortable” he clicked his tongue before he sighed looking back at him. “Do you know me? You act as if I knew you”
“I do.. I know you but not on this timeline, I’ve known you even way before” Lan Huan sighed “I didn’t really have much time, it’s hard to explain, I just wanted to see you so badly”
Jiang Cheng blinked before turning away reading the paper “We didn’t find any records of you” he murmured.
“Yeah, I ran through every data base but no results which is quite strange” she replied.
“Its probably because I haven’t existed on this timeline yet or… I wasn’t able to reincarnate” Lan Huan murmured but it was more on directed to himself instead.
Jiang Cheng chuckled, shaking his head as he folded the paper again and looked at him “ Yeah right, That’s a very believable excuse, well we cant detain you for that long.. “ He glanced at Mianmian and thanked her, she nodded waving at the two and taking her leave.
“I’m not gonna press charges of you for groping me but I cant let you have that sword” he started to unlock the door.
"I understand.." Lan Huan nodded.
Jiang Cheng opened the door and let the man out giving him back his belongings except of the sword. "Well go now.. and watch over traffic lights and don’t feel around on random people, you don’t look like a perv but.. Whatever" he clicked his tongue and sat back down on his chair but Lan Huan didn’t move an inch.
"Well what are you waiting for? Go now" Jiang Cheng gestured towards the main door before looking at his computer pretending to read something but also observed how Lan Huan slowly walked away bowing and saying goodbye to the other officers.
“Yikes you were too harsh on him the guy seems nice” one of his colleague said Jiang Cheng only rolled his eyes at him.
“Criminals are good on pretending to be nice, now stop your gossiping and get back to work before the chief sees you all” he waved his hand and returned his attention back to his computer.
.
.
The rest of his shift went the same as usual, Song Lan arrived and gave him the details about A-Qing’s statement, a great help to their case knowing the guy’s real name is Xue Yang they were able to find information about the man, finally. A huge step for the case. The incident earlier already forgotten with how enthusiastic they became of actually tracking Xue Yang and once they had everything documented he gave the papers to Wen Ning.
“Give this to Chief once he arrives” Jiang Cheng said and Song Lan also handed Wen Ning another file.
“By the way.. I went out earlier to buy some food and I noticed a strange guy outside the station, he was there too when I arrived” Song Lan mentioned and Jiang Cheng raised a brow.
“Strange guy?”
“Oh, yeah! The one you arrested earlier officer Jiang” Wen Ning added “He’s been there since then, I gave him water just a few hours ago”
“Arrested?”
“What?” Jiang Cheng frowned shutting off his computer and cleaning his desk. “He had a weapon with him” he picked up his coat, phone and keys before waving at them. “Gotta go now”
“See you tomorrow”
Jiang Cheng gave last wave at them and headed out of the station and true enough Lan Huan is standing outside the station.
“What are you still doing here?”
Lan Huan’s entire features seemed to lighten up once he saw Jiang Cheng and he smiled at him. “I’m afraid I didn’t know where I should go” Lan Huan replied.
“Don’t you have any place?”
“No, I just arrived here and I don’t know anyone aside from you” Lan Huan looked down a little guilty but still managed to at least give him a reassuring smile. “I’ll just stay here”.
Jiang Cheng frowned at this and shrugged “Suit yourself” he turned away and went to his car, starting the engine he glanced at Lan Huan and drove away, does it really matter? Why concern himself with a stranger? He glanced at Lan Huan’s figure getting smaller from his side mirror standing outside the station like an abandoned puppy.
He gripped the wheels tightly, biting his lower lip before taking a deep breath and stepped on the break, his car stopped and he groaned.
“Ugh!! This is not my business, this is not..” He contemplated for a while, it wasn’t really his business, but why does he felt bad?! He doesn’t even know the dude! But before he could finalize his thoughts he was already driving back towards the station and parked in front of Lan before snarling "Get in!"
"Get in?" Lan Huan replied a little dumbfounded.
"In the car! Before I change my damn mind!" Jiang Cheng gestured at the passenger seat.
"Oh..Thank you" Lan Huan smiled and went towards the car, Jiang Cheng stared at him who started fumbling outside the door, looking lost and confused. Sighing Jiang Cheng reached out to open if for him.
"Damn it, dont you know how to open a car door?"
"Apologies, this.. Method of transportation is new to me" Lan Huan gave an apologetic smile before pulling all the long ass robes inside the passenger’s seat. Lan Xichen sat down and stared at him.
“Close the door.” Jiang Cheng frowned seeing Lan Huan struggling “Just pull the door—no that’s too soft, its still open—again—wait slam it but not too hard--?!” the car shook so hard after Lan Huan slammed it and Jiang Cheng stared at him with wide eyes.
“What the fuck?!”
“You said to pull it hard…” Lan Huan murmured.
“Not THAT hard! You almost ripped it off!”
“It wasn’t that hard” Lan Xichen said sheepishly and placed both of his hands on his lap.
“Nevermind!” he rolled his eyes and started the car.
This behavior is something that Jiang Cheng found strange, he doesn’t normally picked strangers out like this, definitely not. However there was some thing about Lan Huan that Jiang Cheng couldn’t leave him out there, he had an eye for reading people and following his instincts which saved him several times and his instincts tells him Lan Huan isn’t a bad person, in fact his presence doesn’t seem to bother Jiang Cheng that much aside from the strange stare he was receiving.
The car ride is spent in silence with Lan Huan glancing at him from time to time and sometimes the stare is so long it made him a little conscious.
“Stop staring at me it’s fuckin creepy” Jiang Cheng frowned.
“Sorry I couldn’t help it” Lan Huan replied tearing his gaze away from him and after that the man now instead looked outside the window observing the surroundings instead.
When they arrived at Jiang Cheng’s apartment, Lan Huan looked around and followed the other male. Flinching when the light suddenly turned on he looked confused and startled.
“I think I have some food here.. We can reheat it or something” Jiang Cheng glanced at him and started going through his fridge, taking out a few containers.
“May I ask what date is it today?” Lan Huan asked as he sat down on the table.
“November 9 2021… Why?” Jiang Cheng raised a brow.
“I’ll keep that in mind” Lan Huan replied and observed Jiang Cheng who prepared their dinner, reheating some dumplings and spring rolls he went and prepared the plate.
“Sit down” he gestured for him to sit.
When the food is on the table the two ate in silence, Lan Huan in particular seems to be hungry, well the guy spent what? Six hours in the station and didn’t eat anything after all.
So once they were done Lan Huan started explaining which caused some severe headache on Jiang Cheng’s mind. “So.. You were saying you are from the past and you time travelled several times on several years to look for me?”
“Yes.. I travelled here to meet you.” Lan Huan placed the small orb on the table the glow had lessen inside it. “Wanted to make sure, that I would be able to see you again, that there will be a possibility of us being together”
“Let say I believe you.. You did all that just to see me? Why?”
With this Lan Huan held his hand “Because I love you and I missed you, A-Cheng… “
Jiang Cheng paused and blinked, looking at their linked fingers he pulled his hand away. “ Alright you know what nevermind, this is getting ridiculous… You, whatever why am I even indulging you here” he shook his head and stood up taking their plates he went and washed it. Once he was done he left the kitchen and he went on his room trying to make sense of everything, also trying to calm himself. He shouldn’t take those words personally, it already sounds ridiculous. Huffing he took some spare clothing and also took an extra blanket and pillow before coming out of his room.
“You can sleep on the couch” Jiang Cheng said.
“Thank you for your generosity” Lan Huan took the blankets with a small smile.
“okay look, I don’t usually bring strangers in place, tomorrow you need to leave and find a place to stay, also I’ll let you know I sleep with a gun under my pillow so if you try something funny I wont hesitate to put a bullet on your skull” he frowned and glanced at the table where the small shining orb he saw at Lan Huan’s possession earlier but it seems the light is not as bright as he saw earlier. Shaking his head he looked at Lan Xichen “Anyways.. Good night then” he turned away to leave, however Lan Xichen grabbed his wrist and pulled him closer.
"I dont have much time left, I just wanted to take a good look at your face” Lan Huan said stroking his cheek.
“ What are you doing?!” flustered Jiang Cheng stared at him ready to punch him but the look on his face made him halt. Lan Huan looked like he was about to cry, like he was in so much pain.
“... Can I.. Hug you?"
Jiang Cheng frowned, it was such a strange request and normally something he wouldn’t allow but he had a feeling it is something the other needed and for some reason he nodded. Lan Huan immediately pulled him on his arms and breathed out a sigh of relief. They stayed like that for a while and when Lan Huan finally calmed down he pulled back.
"Thank you"
"... Sure" Jiang Cheng stepped back and went inside his room but before he could do inside Lan Huan called him.
“Officer Jiang.. I will find you, I promise”
“Stop being weird” Jiang Cheng huffed and closed the door before he started changing his clothes he couldn't help but think about the strange man outside his room. Why did he even take him in his house?! His actions today is getting too ridiculous! Yet the hug he received brought so much comfort into him, something that he never experienced before. Groaning he decided to not overthink and just deal with this dilemma tomorrow so he flopped on his bed and decided to just get some sleep.
.
.
.
Groaning he throw his blanket away and reluctantly stood up to start his day but suddenly he recalled his unexpected guest so he immediately stood up and went out of his room only to find the place empty.
“The fuck? Did he leave?” blinking he stared at the couch, there was no sign of the blanket and spare clothes. Confused looked at his phone.
November 9 2021.
“A..dream?” Jiang Cheng frowned, could it be a dream? Clicking his tongue he had no time to contemplate on it.
So he went and prepared his coffee while he took a bath and changed into his uniform, he made a sandwich and finished his breakfast as quick as he could. When he was done he made sure the locks are all in place and left his small apartment. Once he reached the parking lot his eyes widened seeing some kids playing around his car.
“Hey get off!” he sneered scaring the kids away as he stalked towards his car, but then he paused.. This familiarity is so weird, it was the exact same thing. Shaking his head he went inside the car and drove towards the station.
Sighing he arrived at the station, nodding at some of his co workers as he headed to his desk.
“Good morning” Wen Ning greeted and rushed towards him to hand him a cup of coffee only to stumble along the way but Jiang Cheng already dodged to the side and the coffee was spilled on the floor.
“Sorry!” Wen Ning apologized and Jiang Cheng remained standing on the side, this.. Already happened.
“Hey, Wen Ning that guy I arrested yesterday do you remember it?”
“Weird guy… “ Wen Ning blinked at him “The drunk one?”
“No, the one with sword! The one that was dressed traditionally, white robes tall man handsome” Jiang Cheng explained but the trainee only gave him a confused look “Nevermind, it must have been a dream anyways where’s Song Lan?” he asked while walking towards his desk setting his coat down.
Jiang Cheng started the car checking the address that was sent to him and drove off.
Weird.. Weird… Jiang Cheng is feeling anxious he had a very foreboding feeling about this. He could still recall quite clearly what happened on that dream? What that even a dream? Is he still dreaming? He had no fucking idea which is real anymore.
So when he arrived at the building he was already jogging towards the apartment only to see Song Lan meeting him with a frown on his face.
“Not there?” Jiang Cheng said staring at him.
“Yeah”
“False alarm.” This time Jiang Cheng stated instead of asking.
“Yeah.. But he’d been here he just left a day ago, the tip was late.. Though I found this” he showed Jiang Cheng a burner phone sealed in a plastic bag. Jiang Cheng took it and they started walking out the complex. It was quiet between them, Jiang Cheng looking down at the phone then seeing Song Lan went ahead, suddenly he remembered something and he reached out to grab Song Lan’s arm.
“Watch out!” he pulled him back just in time a bicycle went pass them.
“Wow.. Thanks” Song Lan said.
“Yeah.. Sure” Jiang Cheng sighed.
Seeing this Song Lan looked at him “Are you okay?”
Jiang Cheng shook his head and turned to face him. “I have a feeling this happened before”
“Like.. Déjà vu?”
“Yeah but.. I don’t know it just feels so real and it’s kind of fucking me up”
Song Lan chuckled heading towards his car “You should really slow down the caffeine”
Rolling his eyes Jiang Cheng followed him “It’s not that!... Ah I know you are going to the victim’s house to pick them up because his niece is ready to give a statement right?”
They stared at eachother in stunned silence and Song Lan raised a brow. “How did you.. “
“I told you! Anyways its not the caffeine!” Jiang Cheng pointed at him before heading to his car. There got to be something! Maybe that sword is still there! He need to get back to the station. There was a lot of questions in his head and he wanted to know the answer, it’s impossible for it to be a dream! Or maybe he is deluding himself believing that said man ready does exist he---
Jiang Cheng immediately stepped on the breaks jolting his car as he stared wide with wide eyes in front of him, a man just suddenly showed out of nowhere.
“WHAT THE HELL?! ARE YOU WISHING AN EARLY DEATH?! DO YOU SEE THE LIGHTS ARE GREEN?!” Jiang Cheng screamed poking his head out of the window before looking around pointing at the traffic lights.
Jiang Cheng paused something about the situation is eerily familiar. He immediately stepped outside his car already expecting to see a white robe and that handsome stranger with kind eyes and beautiful smile only to see a short haired guy in suit hunching over picking up his case.
For some unknown reason he felt a little disappointed.
“Im sorry I was in a hurry and crossed the road” The man responded as he stood up dusting his suit while his back if facing against Jiang Cheng.
“You weren’t hurt aren’t you?” Jiang Cheng asked crossing his arms.
The man turned around and smiled “Not at all… Officer Jiang”
Jiang Cheng eyes widened seeing the familiar face, his hand fell on his sides as he stared at the other and whispered “You..”
“Yes me…” Lan Huan smiled at him and even though he looked different with how short his hair was and how he looked like he belongs in this place, he still had the same grace and calming presence. They remained standing for a moment and Lan Huan took a few steps to hugged him tightly. “I’ve waited so long, finally.. finally I was able to see you again.. November 9th I kept this date in my heart.”
“… how did you even.. I don’t understand”
“It doesn’t matter” Lan Huan’s hand shifted and Jiang Cheng glared at him.
“Grope me and you will end up in my precinct” Jiang Cheng hissed and Lan Huan laughed before pulling away.
“I learned my lesson” he held Jiang Cheng’s hand before handing him his ID “I have an identity to show you now, I belong in your place and time and I wanted to know you more. So if given the chance would Officer Jiang like to grab some lunch with me? Hopefully not behind the cell”
Staring at him Jiang Cheng chuckled. “If you behave then I might reconsider” shaking his head he went back to the car “Come on! I’m pretty sure you know how to open a car door now”
“As a matter of fact I do” Lan Xichen went to the passenger seat and Jiang Cheng glanced at him.
November 9th huh… such an interesting date, surely it’s something he wouldn’t forget.
“May I kiss yo—”
“No.”
