Summary
After Jin Guangyao dies, Nie Huaisang is ready to enjoy his life free from the burden of revenge plots and subterfuge. But his decisions have resulted in a deep guilt that he can't shake, and he struggles to stay afloat with no one left to support him. To top it off, he finds himself tangled up in politics that he really couldn't care less about.
What he does care about is Lan Xichen's opinion of him, but Lan Xichen won't even look at him anymore.
Nie Huaisang can only hope that his life doesn't get any worse.

“I really don’t know,” Lan Xichen whimpered, sounding like he might burst into tears if pressed any further.
Nie Huaisang grimaced. Not that he didn’t get it, but trying to question someone who’s answer to everything was “I don’t know” felt utterly hopeless.
“But… there is one thing,” Lan Xichen said, lifting his head. “Don’t tell Shufu about this.”
