When a Scriver is born with poison-green eyes, Gran always said, that's the sign the curse has showed up in the next generation. Ma had them, and Gran before her, and poor Great-Gran before her, and before that, who knows? Maybe those eyes went all the way back to our famous foremother, the great Elphea Scriver, the renowned illuminatrix who wrote glorious high magic into her work with her blessed quill in hand, just like in the statue of her in Old Town, right in the middle of the Greensquare. She had it all: beauty, talent, fame, power, wealth. Gran used to say old Elphea must've used up our family's share of luck for perpetuity. She was probably the last Scriver fate was kind to.
And me? I'm just the last Scriver, period. The name and the curse will die with me, and good riddance to all three as far as the world is concerned.

… What is a “Doctor Eggman?”
“Hey, what’s going on in there?” Chris’ voice crackled over Metal Sonic’s earpiece.
Metal Sonic beeped again, this time punctuated by an annoyed buzz. Did Chris forget already that this unit was not capable of vocal speech?
Metal Sonic gripped the child and her pet tighter, being careful not to hurt them with its sharp claws (organic lifeforms were so delicate), and continued to speed through the corridor, no longer caring if the security cameras spotted them.

“Fancy,” Tony says, reaching out to take it.
Strange pulls his hand back instead and says, “Forgive me, Tony.”
Tony can’t move. He freezes in place, hand twitching above the changed arc reactor. Confusion, followed by shock, followed very quickly by fear driven anger as Tony snap his eyes back to Strange.
Strange meets his gaze and says, “When you find him, ask Tim for help.”
