Work Text:
Harry was startled when the fireplace glowed bright green and Draco appeared in his study, sending the heaps of his half-finished paperwork flying all over the floor.
“Hi,” Draco said, sounding absolutely miserable. He flicked his wand, and Harry’s parchment stacked themselves neatly at the edge of his desk. “Can I stay here tonight?”
“Yeah, of course,” Harry nodded immediately without a hint of hesitation. “I do have a bunch of reports to finish, though.”
“That’s fine; I have homework to do anyway.” Draco took his own stack of parchment out of the inside pocket of his coat. “Blaise is in one of his moods, and I can’t get anything done at home.”
“No worries. You know you can always come through,” Harry waved away his concern. Draco plopped down on the couch opposite Harry’s desk and conjured himself a small bed table to do his work on.
They worked in silence, with the fireplace and rustling of paper acting as white noise. What Harry didn’t notice was that Draco’s concentration was no better than it’d been at his own apartment. Really, it was a miracle Draco got anything done with how frequently he was glancing up at his boyfriend.
It was at one such time that Harry looked up, and their eyes met.
“What?” Harry asked, and Draco frowned.
“Can you please stop biting your lip?” he muttered. “It’s distracting.”
Harry began to smile slowly and then adjusted his glasses. “Are you blushing?”
“It’s not my fault you’re so effortlessly hot, okay?!” Draco grumbled and then vanished the bed table and shoved his homework back into his coat pocket.
Harry just chuckled. “Done already?”
“I can’t concentrate. I’ll do it tomorrow. I don’t care.” Draco huffed and then took off his shoes to lie down on the couch and take a nap while Harry worked.
Harry, however, just leaned back in his chair and started twirling his quill in his hands. He was glad Draco’s eyes were closed because then he could easily watch his boyfriend’s adorable pout without being yelled at.
“You know,” he started. “I could leave my paperwork for later too.”
“No way,” Draco declined quickly. “I don’t intend to pick up the blame for you not handing in reports.”
“I’d just say my boyfriend Floo’d in with an emergency and I couldn’t find time to do the reports since I had to help him,” Harry said casually, pushing the apologetic tone into his voice.
“What’s the emergency?” Draco asked dryly, turning his head to their eyes locked across the room.
“We hadn’t seen each other in a few days,” Harry shrugged.
Draco couldn’t suppress a smirk. “That does sound like it needs an urgent fix.”
“I’m glad you think so,” Harry smirked back. They stared at each other for a moment before Draco lost his patience.
“Well, are you coming here, or are we going to use your stupid chair like heathens?”
“I’m coming, I’m coming,” Harry lifted his hands up in defence but made his way to the couch quickly.
“Not yet, you’re not,” Draco snickered, and Harry rolled his eyes.
“Just shut up and kiss me already.”
Draco was happy to oblige.
