ichigo pocky

Summary:

Subaru gets Ochi to play the pocky game with him.

Notes:

I gave myself secondhand embarrassment writing this, but that's just 'cause I'm a dumbass.  Why do I always make everything so sappy (and then get overwhelmed by it…)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"Hey, Ochi!"

Mitsuomi turns to see Subaru grinning cheekily, waggling a piece of strawberry pocky between his teeth.  Subaru cocks his eyebrows.

Expelling his nerves on a sigh, he steps in, resting a hand on Subaru's shoulder for balance, and leans up to deliberately bite off a large portion of the pocky, so close their lips brush.  He can feel the heat rise to his cheeks as he drops to his heels, gaze dropping away with his hand before flicking back up to Subaru's face.

"The strawberry's not even as good as the chocolate, you know," he tells him, voice much steadier than he feels.

Subaru lets out a single, breathless laugh and swallows the remaining stub of biscuit without hardly chewing it.  The way that his cheeks rival the rest of the pocky in his hand in color, when normally he wouldn't let himself be so visibly flapped, makes this worth it.

The way that then Subaru cups Mitsuomi's jaw and tips his head back, only giving him time enough for his breath to hitch before his lips are on his, definitely makes this worth it.

Finally, he thinks, or maybe says, because then Subaru's laughing against his lips and kissing him anew.  He's never particularly minded the flavor of strawberry, but he minds it even less on Subaru's lips and tongue like this.

Notes:

I have stared at this for so long that I literally cannot tell how complete this feels anymore, but there are only 2 hrs left of Pocky Day in my time zone, so I decided to post it anyway

I don't know why I can't ever seem to write Ochi in-character
