  Summary

  But it’s a whole other thing now that Feng Xin is at the door of his apartment, duffle bag in hand and garment bag over his shoulder, wearing a tank top in the late summer heat. A few drops of sweat running slowly down from his hairline. Flyaways from his bun frizzing in the unusually high humidity. Maybe he’s panting a little. Not that Mu Qing is watching the gentle heave of his chest.

  Mu Qing stands with one hand holding his door open, the other hand on his cocked hip, managing to look nonchalant despite his racing heart.

  Summary

  Mu Qing had only taken a few steps when Ling Wen’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts. “And Fu Yao, I know your palace and his palace have some…history…but try to remember you’re both there to help the Crown Prince.”

  History with his palace? The other deputy’s? Who could it – oh no. Mu Qing stiffened, nodded over his shoulder to Ling Wen, and really started to regret this.

   
  Or, Mu Qing and Feng Xin had a bad breakup before the start of the novel, it’s been a bit and they’re super not over it or each other, and when Fu Yao and Nan Feng meet, neither of them realizes who the other is. But these heartbroken gods both start to fall for the *deputy god* they just met, and shenanigans ensue.
