Chapter Text
“Are you convinced, that your patient is willing to speak the truth on the sally face killer case?”, the judge spoke serious. You knew that something was off, the whole time you been sitting in this chair, waiting until it’s your turn to speak. You knew what happened. You saw it all. Everything. You look around and see the people that came here, some of them being nervous, some worried and some weren’t showing their emotions. The tension in the air gave you the feeling of almost suffocating. As your therapist speaks up you put all your concentration at her. “No, their mental disability at the time might let them imagine things and think there are real. That’s why they’re excluded to be a witness in this case.” These words let you speechless. This simply can’t be the truth. “In addition to that they had something going on with the accused, there is no chance they would be not lying to help him.” That’s it. You’re slamming your fists on the table while standing up, which lend all of the attention to you. “I’d like to show proof, sir.”, you say full of hope, coming off a little angry and looking up to the judge. Everyone was shocked by your action and the security ready to get you out of there, maybe even thinking that you are insane. “You’re not allowed to, excuse me.”, is the only thing he said to you.
You know it’s over.
Ash already said everything they need to hear and so they gave him the death penalty.(no Ash slander) Is this how it ends? Suddenly feeling pain in your palm, you notice your nails dug into your skin causing it to lightly bleed. Why? You had everything to prove that he didn’t have a choice, all these documents and pictures. You’re clenching your fists even harder getting the courage to speak again: “Please. I have everything you need to know!” Your desperate voice was shaking and the judge just looked away from you, signalling that he’s done with that. As you see your therapist gesturing to the security man to get you, the situation is just too much for you, it’s overwhelming. The thought that they planned that all went through your head. Which actions could prevent this? Could you do something different? You probably couldn't and that's what's so frustrating about it. You thought about how this could happen, since your therapist said that she believed you fully with this story a couple of months ago. She was really confident about it and didn’t seem like she would just let you down like this. You were so concentrated on your thoughts that you didn't hear the judge asking you to leave. The thing that let you return back to reality is a strong grip around your wrists, hurting really bad as your arms were put behind your back. You flinched and looked to the man behind you, who was putting handcuffs on you. “Hello? I may ask you to leave now.”
6:32 pm, beginning of autumn in the year 2004. The time has come. Sal should be killed, well you might just hear that from someone. Since the thing in the court you might be in the psych ward again. Just like every serial killer there was that one fangirl, that couldn’t stop talking about him. “Ahhhhh, have you seen him? His hair, it looks so soft!!”, she was almost yelling the most time, giving you a light headache. You looking at the clock, barely even listening to what she said anymore. 6:33 pm.
Everything becomes quiet. Not even the voice of the girl is there. Only the deepest darkness is surrounding you, surprised by the happening you just trying to get what is happening. Suddenly a bright light catches your eyes attention, which is coming near you very fast.
You’re trying to catch a breath, while you sit up in your bed in shock. A dream? It couldn’t be one, it was too real. “(y/n) are you all packed up? We need to leave now.”, is that what you hear after a gentle knock on your door. You take a look at the clock again. It’s already 12:40 pm. Today is the day, where you are going to your aunt, because you parents need to go to another country for work, coming back in a little more than one month. They never said where exactly they’re going and what they doing, but you decide to just trust them. You quickly start to remember and realise what you experienced. “when you want us to bring you to your aunt you need to hurry!” You remember that you had packed everything the day before, some clothes, underwear, pencils, paper and some other essentials.
Your aunt lives in the apartments. She has enough money to buy herself a house and still, she would enjoy it more in the apartments. When you asked her about her living there, she said that she had all the company she needed and would be very lonely if she lived in a house. She is such an understanding person.
Would she believe you?
Would anyone believe you?
No. No one would.
But it is an useless thought you had that second, so you try to just shake it off. Taking your suitcase, you run downstairs fast so that you won’t waste any time. Somehow the thought won’t let you go, the question, if this was a dream, remains. Maybe you could find it out. You decide: when you arrive at your aunts, you will write everything important down that you remember. “do you want to take a snack for the drive?”, your mom Max asks, while showing you what you could pick. You happily pick your favourite snack and get in the car. The car ride isn’t long since you only live 20 minutes away from the apartments.
“Did you miss me?” he asked without getting a reply. He just came home. “I asked you, did you miss me?” he spoke even more aggressive grabbing you by your hair, pulling you down to your knees. “did you forgot how to speak? Dumb child.” He threw you in the corner of your room. “you are useless, I don’t know why she even cared about you. Tried to protect you.. look how ungrateful you are. Not even thankful that I’m still here giving you a place to stay.” A big creepy grin was in his face. “I think you-“
Somebody is shaking you awake. “- should wake up, we’re there.” Max smiles kind. “Thank you, take care of yourselves!”, you reply to her, mimicking her facial expression. You get out of the car after you grab the suitcase and then make your way into the apartment.
“Good day, dear companion.”, you hear a deeper voice say, so you look up to the tall man who looks down at you. “Can I help you, Sir?”, you ask, a little confused to be honest. You know that you saw him once, but you couldn’t remember where. “Sorry for interrupting. I’m a detective. A murder happened in this building, so may I ask where you were yesterday and maybe your name too?”, he answered you. You nod and start to speak: “my name is (y/n) (l/n), I was with my parents yesterday, what they can confirm. Also, I don’t live here, I’m just visiting my aunt.”
As he hears your name his eyes widen a little bit, not from shock. He just seems to know you or at least your name. “I understand.”, he says pausing for a bit afterwards. He opens his mouth to speak again: “It’s all good, if something happens, ill contact you.” You just silently nod and go inside, since you were standing at the entrance.
Then you remember: the dream you had and the man you met, it fits perfectly with the things you experienced already. If more events line up, it may be the future or a very funny coincidence.
