I like knowing you're jealous as it gave me the assurance that you care.
It was going to be their normal day. Their normal date. Their moment together. But now, as Cale stood a few distance away from where his boyfriend is, a milkshake in hand as he silently scrolled through his phone instead of having the time of his life with his boyfriend, he thinks this isn't how their date is supposed to go.
Though he remains patient. Its just an old classmate Choi Han had back in primary school. Its not like Choi Han is cheating or anything, which with no doubt is 1000% impossible since that puppy is whipped and refuse to hurt Cale in anyway. Cale knows that, okay? he is aware of that fact that is why he's trying his best to be patient and nonchalant.
Few minutes ago when the two had just began their date for the day, by chance they came across Choi Han's old classmate, by chance that girl wanted to catch up about stuff with Choi Han, by chance it was now dragging on for 5 minutes or so (actually, its been 6 minutes and 26 seconds, no Cale is definitely not counting). It would be totally normal for things like this to happen as it also inevitably occurs every now and then with Cale since there were so many who knew him and Choi Han never really thought ill of it, rather, he was pretty accepting of the fact that Cale was quite famous with a lot of people and didn't demand for his time.
That is why, even though it was sweltering hot, Cale doesn't complain and just keeps himself busy as his boyfriend talks with someone. No, he does not react even when Choi Han would glance at him every now and then seemingly asking if he should still talk to her or not. Of course Choi Han would be worried about Cale since this is their date, but Cale is being generous only for today so he's letting Choi Han spare that girl some time. Therefore, he gestures Choi Han to just continue talking to that girl even though in all honestly he just wants to drag his boyfriend away.
"So you know," the girl tucked her hair behind her ear, Choi Han doesn't notice this small action since he was still glancing at Cale, feeling antsy and wants to get out of this situation so he can focus on his boyfriend instead but thought it would be rude to suddenly leave just like that so he forces himself to stay put. "You do know that I liked you back then right?"
"Huh?" Choi Han absent-mindedly asked, not quite catching the question since he was much more focused on Cale. But the girl mistook his response for being coy as she laughed softly, finding Choi Han rather cute. She lightly slapped Choi Han's arm who was startled at the sudden contact and gave her a surprised and confuse gaze.
"I don't think you forgot about me confessing."
Choi Han becomes even more bewildered.
Confessing? Back in primary school? at that time Choi Han didn't really care about those stuff and... right. This person did like him back then. That was why Choi Han was feeling antsy and wanted to leave.
This was someone who liked him while his boyfriend is literally just a few steps away from them. Choi Han isn't doing anything wrong, he knows that, but he felt like he's going to end up hurting Cale if he stays a minute longer since he's fully aware of this person's feelings for him. And judging from where the conversation is heading, she definitely still feels the same way like before.
So before any incident will happen or misunderstandings to occur, Choi Han bows down.
"I'm sorry."
"...Eh?"
"Whatever you were about to say, please don't say it." Choi Han stood straight and stared at the girl's eyes solemnly, "My boyfriend is waiting for me and we're out on a date but I'm here talking with someone who used to like me, it feels wrong." Although to be precise, it was the girl who kept talking and Choi Han half-heartedly listening as he continued to glance at his boyfriend every now and then. "I'll take my leave first."
Luckily, the girl doesn't stop him.
The moment Choi Han was back to standing beside Cale, Cale didn't hesitate to hold his hand even though they were out in public. Who cares about people's opinion in case they come across homophobic bastards? Cale certainly doesn't.
"Sorry for taking so long," Choi Han sheepishly says which made Cale snort, "It happens."
Choi Han wears a small smile. He didn't want to hide the identity of that girl to Cale since he deserves to know but before he could even say anything, Cale beat him to it.
"I know." He turned his head to the side to glance at Choi Han briefly, "You don't have to say it. I heard you."
...Actually, he had been eavesdropping from the start and was pretending he wasn't. Cale is aware that's rude but can you still blame him if that girl's voice was loud enough for him to hear since he was so close by?
Cale intertwined their fingers together, Choi Han squeezing his hand for a bit.
"Its her lose she let you go back then. Its impossible to have you now since I'm not letting you go," Cale murmurs while keeping his eyes in front instead of seeing for himself the way Choi Han looks at him like he holds the entire universe in his existence. "There's just no way."
"Cale-nim doesn't need to worry," Choi Han smiles at the fact that Cale was obviously avoiding looking at him, "Since all I see is Cale-nim."
Cale made sure not to forget those words he heard. If one day it happens that Choi Han ends up loving someone more than Choi Han loved him, he's going to smack this guy really hard on the back of his head and yell at his face all the promises he said of not letting go and only looking at him.
Cale would not hesitate to do that, and Choi Han knows. That was why he confidently said his promise of forever.
Knowing that they have the entire lifetime ahead of them.
