-----------------------

Eijiro and Katsuki stood in their living room, lights dimmed to perfection. They lightly swayed back and forth in sync, moving with the music. Oh, how Eijiro enjoyed these moments. Katsuki sweetly grabbed his hand as they sang along to the music.

“If you ever leave me, baby,
Leave some morphine at my door
‘Cause, it would take a whole lot of medication…
To realize what we used to have,
We don't have it anymore”

They loved each other very dearly.

--------

Katsuki was on his way back from patrol, talking with Eijiro on the phone. He heard the music in the background.

“There's no religion that could save me
No matter how long my knees are on the floor (oh)
So keep in mind all the sacrifices I'm makin'
To keep you by my side
To keep you from walkin' out the door”

“Oh? Dancing without me?” He said fondly into the phone. “Of course not! I was just thinking about you, Kat.” Eijiro spoke quietly back.

“'Cause there'll be no sunlight
If I lose you, baby
There'll be no clear skies
If I lose you, baby
Just like the clouds
My eyes will do the same if you walk away
Everyday it'll rain, rain, ra-a-a-ain”

“Why, did you want to dance when you got home?” He asked. Bakugou heard his daughter pipe up in the background. “I wanna dance with you, papa!” Hearing Eijiro chuckle was like music to his ears, god he loved his husband. “C’mon, firecracker! You can always dance with me!” He could practically hear his smile.

“Don’t dance too much without me.”

They both pipped up at the same time. “We won’t!”

Katsuki walked home just a bit faster that day.

--------

They were out on a walk with their daughter, Hijiri.

They all heard the whispers.

“Did they kidnap that little girl?”

“Who are her parents? Surely it isn’t them..”

Hijiri thought quietly to herself, wondering what she could do when she got the best idea.

She quietly started singing, completely off tune.

“I'll never be your mother's favorite
Uh, your daddy can't even look me in the eye”

Both her dads knew what she was doing, and gladly joined in.

“Ooh, if I was in their shoes, I'd be doing the same thing
Sayin', "There goes my little girl
Walkin' with that troublesome guy"

They lifted Hijiri off the ground, happily singing as they all walked.

“But they're just afraid of something they can't understand
Ooh, but little darlin' watch me change their minds
Yeah for you I'll try, I'll try, I'll try, I'll try
And pick up these broken pieces 'til I'm bleeding
If that'll make you mine”

--------

Eijiro was in the car, driving Hijiri home from school. He had gotten off early from patrol, so he told Kat to wait for him at home.

The car ride wasn’t loud in the slightest. Hijiri was fast asleep in her booster seat, and Eijiro was listening to the radio.

It was his favorite song.

“Cause there'll be no sunlight
If I lose you, baby
There'll be no clear skies
If I lose you, baby
Just like the clouds
My eyes will do the same if you walk away
Everyday it'll rain, rain, ra-a-a-ain”

He noticed at the last second.

Headlights.

Turning his body around in his seat, he reached for his daughter.

“Hijiri!-”

He was too late to turn his quirk on.

--------

Eijiro wasn’t answering his phone, Katsuki noticed. He quietly went into their living room, turning on the news. Maybe there was a villain attack he got held up with?

But then where was Hijiri?

Sitting on the couch, he let his small radio play their favorite song.

Eijiro never shut it off.

Katsuki smiled fondly, before focusing on the news.

“Thank you for tuning into our 7:00 News! I’m your host Amanda Carter and I am currently at the scene of a deadly car crash on 3rd and South Kaki street.”

“Oh, don't you say (don't you say) goodbye (goodbye)
Don't you say (don't you say) goodbye (goodbye)”

That’s the route Eijiro took to get home.

“The car in the accident was an Izusu 2016 V5, that had 2 passengers. The two passengers were later identified to be one of our very own heroes, Red Riot, and his unexpected daughter, Hijiri Kirishima. Now, back to you, Antonio.”

“I'll pick up these broken pieces 'til I'm bleeding
If that'll make it right”

Katsuki stopped breathing.
When he finally found his breath, he screamed.

--------

Two black and red gravestones sat next to each other, shining and clean as they always were. Katsuki sat back on his knees.

“Hey, Eiji. Hey, Jiri. You know I miss you two, right?”

He got no response but kept going.

“It’s been way too quiet without you guys. So I brought the radio.”

He turned it on, placing it in between the headstones.

It started playing their favorite song.

Katsuki quietly sang to them, remembering all their fun times.

“'Cause there'll be no sunlight
If I lose you, baby
And there'll be no clear skies
If I lose you, baby”

When the last verse came and went, he was fully sobbing.

“And just like the clouds
My eyes will do the same if you walk away
Every day it'll rain, rain, ra-a-a-ain…”

“I love you. I’m pissed at myself that I never got to tell you one more time.”

They would never be back.

He couldn’t change that.
