Summary
Before Pepper, before the insane amount of women and men that he's slept with in his life, Tony had loved Sofia Giordano. She had tamed his wild heart. They were together for four years and on the night before she left the U.S. for her assignment in Japan, they made love to each other the beach and he asked her to marry him. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. She said "no because at twenty three, they weren't ready for that". The rest of the night was a blur. When he woke up, he was still on the beach a piece of paper with four words written on it pressed into his hand. And Sofia, well she was long gone. Tony was devastated, and turned to booze and women to deal with the pain of losing his first love.
What Tony didn't know is that he and Sofia conceived a child that night. Nor did he know that eighteen years later, he would be the key note speaker at her graduation from MIT and unknowingly hire her on the spot to work in one of the R&D mechanical engineering labs at Stark Industries in New York City.
