INSECURE

Summary:

Nightmares of the most caloric and fatty foods. Self conscious thoughts that seemed to take up most of her day. Mirrors that brought more and more tears to her eyes.

It all seemed like some mental hurricane that came spiraling out of nowhere, chipping her mind away piece by piece. And with a colder-than-ice husband, who can Y/N turn to for help? Their struggling marriage only added onto her stress.

Not to mention that husband of hers prioritized his job as a business man over everything else, including her. (Or that's what Y/N thinks)

But when Jungkook finally finds out about her demons, what will he do?

Y/N would wish for nothing more than for Jungkook to give her the love and support she so desperately needs from him. She knows he feels something. Beyond the stoic expression, his eyes bear the truth. Yet it seems each time he gives the smallest hint of affection, it's gone before Y/N has time to blush.

Can Jungkook find it in his heart to love her like she's always needed?

Work Text:

Y/n POV

The pan sizzled as I dropped a ladleful of batter onto the hot steel. I was making breakfast - chocolate chip pancakes. Turning around, I set a timer on my phone for 2 minutes, so I could cook them perfectly. God knows my husband would throw a fit if they weren’t done the way he wanted.

Speak of the devil, just as I flipped the last pancake, my husband, Jungkook, strode into the kitchen, decked out in his expensive suit as always.

Jungkook was a businessman, so he frequently had suits personally tailored for him. Even if it cost an arm and a leg. It wasn’t like he couldn’t afford it anyway.

He took a seat at the dining table, checking the time on his overpriced watch.

“Hurry up. I have to be at work in 25 minutes,” he said stiffly.

“Sorry, sorry,” I muttered breathily.

Rushing to plate the hot pancakes, I set his breakfast in front of him, and he dug in without a single “thank you”. Ah, my typical husband.

Let me give you a little background information about our relationship.

Two years prior, we were forced into an arranged marriage when we were both only 22. Neither of us wanted to go through with it, but we had no say in the matter.

So, we got married, journeyed on a sexless honeymoon to Ireland, and have been together ever since. We mostly tolerated each other. Of course, deep down I greatly cared about him. I could only hope he felt the same about me.

But each day that hope dwindled lower and lower. Why?

Because my husband was the coldest fucking person on planet Earth.

He wouldn’t smile, wouldn’t laugh, wouldn’t even hug me. He didn’t call me by any pet names, he didn’t take me out on dates. I was astonished he even slept in the same bed as me.

I understood that it was an arranged marriage, but I never expected him to be so cold to me. After all, I was his wife. But I guess that didn’t mean anything anymore…

Well anyway, back to the story.

I sat down across from him and began to eat my own pancakes that were warm and fluffy. ‘I really shouldn't be eating pancakes but whatever’.

My eyes were glued to Jungkook, hoping he could at least compliment my food. But the only sound that came out of his mouth was a small burp as he finished his breakfast.

He stood, adjusting his tie and grabbing his leather briefcase.

“I’m going to be working late this week. Bring dinner up to my office,”

“Ok. Have a nice day at work. Goodbye,” I called quietly as he marched towards the front door.

“Bye,” was all he said before leaving for work. A sigh left my mouth. I should’ve been used to his behavior by now, but unfortunately, I wasn’t. It was tough to get used to it when your own husband wouldn’t even give you a kiss before work.

“Does he even love me?” I wondered aloud.

He never showed any sort of affection at all, nothing. ‘Maybe he hates me’ I thought to myself. But...he never cheated on me. He’d never made any effort to divorce me. And it’s not like he really ever said anything hurtful to me. ‘Don’t get your hopes up Y/n, he’s just being a decent human being’ I scolded myself, as I began to wash the dishes.

Soon after, I started to do my daily tasks of laundry, vacuuming, and dusting. No, I didn’t have a job. Jungkook made more than enough money for us both, and he wanted me to be a housewife, so that’s what I did. ‘Anything to make him happy’

And finally, after hours of extensive cleaning, I relaxed on the couch and took a much-needed break. The tasks would be shorter if I didn’t have to be so meticulous about everything. But on the other hand, I knew Jungkook wouldn’t be pleased if I didn’t clean the house suitably.

After a while of lying on the couch, I grew bored, so I decided to take a leisurely walk around the neighborhood, maybe work off those pancakes I ate. I brought along my phone and a water bottle, my usual stuff.

Two long hours later, I walked back into the house, sweating my butt off. ‘God, I must really be unfit’ I thought unhappily, remembering my prominent struggle to continue walking after some time.

I took a quick refreshing shower before getting ready to make dinner. Maybe I could make something healthier than pancakes. ‘Come on Y/n, just because you don’t have a job, doesn’t mean you can get fat and lazy’ I told myself. ‘You already are’ a voice in my head responded. I sighed and peered down at my body. God, I hoped that voice was lying.

Evening

I quietly crept up the steps, carefully holding Jungkook’s dinner of rib-eye steak and potatoes in my hand. He was inside his office, hard at work as usual. I knocked on the door, receiving a barely audible “Come in,”.

Opening the door, I saw Jungkook at his desk, sifting through a heap of paperwork.

“I made dinner,” I said softly, placing his plate and silverware in front of him. He gave the smallest of nods and began to type rapidly. He didn’t even look at me. ‘Oh yeah, just pretend I’m invisible like you always do’ I waited expectantly for him to say anything, which surprisingly he did.

“Did you touch my papers?” he asked stiffly, still not sparing a glance in my direction.

My heart sank. Of course. Why would he talk to me if not about his precious papers?

“I-I was just trying to help you organize,”

I knew Jungkook hated it when I touched his papers, the control freak.

“How many times do I have to tell you not to touch my paperwork?” he said sternly, anger fueling his expeditious typing.

“I’m sorry… I won’t do it again, I promise,”

He let out a breath through his nose and resumed typing like a maniac. Assuming that was the end of our conversation, I left to our room, disappointed.

“You could’ve at least said thank you,” I grumbled. “I slave over a hot stove for an hour to cook your steak perfectly and you don’t even look at me once,”

A sigh left my lips, drowsiness weighing heavy on my eyes. I was drained from the long-drawn walk I took. I glanced at the clock.

7:30.

I yawned, stretching my arms up high.

“Guess I’m going to bed early,”

I slipped out of my day clothes. As I changed into my pink nightgown, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. A frown settled on my face as I gazed at my midsection. I wasn’t getting fat, was I? My thighs looked a little...thick. I was sure my stomach wasn’t that poochy… Maybe my mind was just playing tricks on me.

I flopped on the bed, the sheets holding a pleasant chill to them. I curled into my general fetal position and fell asleep in no time.

But my slumber that night was less than peaceful.

Sometime during my sleep, I had a nightmare that a gigantic pancake monster was chasing me through the neighborhood, screaming how he was going to make me nice and fat before he ate me. He caught me inevitably, and he held me in front of a giant mirror, squishing the fat all over my body and cupping my round stomach.

“Oh, you’re a big one. Can’t wait to have you for dinner,” he growled in a sinister rumble, and at that point, the lethal combination of fear and disgust jolted me awake. I immediately raced to the bathroom, my hands tightly clasped over my mouth.

What a nightmare that was.

Few Days Later

I rolled my eyes in boredom while Jungkook rummaged through the numerous racks of expensive suits. We were at H&M; Jungkook needed a new suit because he earned a promotion at his office. As happy as I was for him, I didn’t want to be there doing nothing for God knows how long.

I leaned against the wall, as he observed the fabric of a dark blue suit.

A groan left my throat. We were gonna be there for a while.

Eventually, half an hour later, I couldn’t just stand there anymore and I went to look at a cute outfit I had been eyeing. But a warm hand enclosed around my wrist, preventing me from going any further. I glanced up to see Jungkook, holding a suit in his hand.

“Don’t go far,” he said, examining the collar. I nodded, and he let go of my wrist, examining the tag of the suit.

Normally I would be irritated by this; I wasn’t a child, I could go look at an outfit by myself. But in this case, I felt flattered. Endeared almost. At least this showed me he cared about me. Even if just a little, in his own strange way.

I stared at the outfit, a cute blue button-up shirt with a black skirt, accompanied by some shiny black boots. Smiling, I searched for one in my size. ‘... right? I pray I didn’t go up a size’ I thought. When I glanced at the price tag, however, my smile vanished. $120? For one outfit? ‘Sugar...well I think I can pay that. I’ll just...use my credit card’

I brought the outfit to Jungkook, hopeful he would let me buy it.

Why? Well, he was the one who made 70% of our money, and he didn’t like it when I spent it on useless things. He wasn’t too strict but if I wanted something that really wasn’t worth the money he wouldn’t let me buy it. Once I wanted a really fluffy blue blanket and he outright said no. : (

“Jungkook?” I asked shyly, holding the outfit up. “Can I get this?”

His eyes gave the outfit a slow once over, before he said “Sure.”

“Thank you,”

I placed the outfit in a red shopping basket.

And then, finally, finally after another half hour there, Jungkook chose a dark blue suit with a white collar and black cuffs. God knew he would look great in that. Jungkook looked great in everything.

We went up to the register, waiting in line patiently. When it was our turn to go up, I got my wallet out along with my credit card, while I set the outfit on the counter. Jungkook turned the tag over, so the price was clear and visible.

“I’ll pay for it,” he said, pushing it next to his suit. My face flushed in embarrassment. Did he think I was too poor to afford it?

“Listen, I get that you’re rich, but I can buy my own things too, y’know?” I said, face burning. He ignored me, paying for everything with his prestigious black card. I rolled my eyes, putting my wallet away. ‘Of course, you ignore me as usual’ I thought.

Jungkook pushed my bagged and paid-for outfit towards me, grabbing his suit in his hands. I got annoyed when he did things like that. I already had no job, I didn’t want to feel more worthless by not paying for my own things. I sighed as we left the store, getting into the new SUV Jungkook had bought a month ago.

Realistically, I should be happy with my and Jungkook’s marriage. We had everything. Money, high-end food, expensive clothes, fancy accessories, a gorgeous house, a nice car, great social status.

We had everything.

Everything except love.

Afternoon

I sat on the velvet couch and turned on the TV. I wasn’t in the mood for a show so I decided to maybe watch a movie.

My eyes glanced towards Jungkook as he stepped out of the kitchen, a bowl of cherries in his hand. ‘Maybe we can have some bonding time…’

“Jungkook, do you wanna watch a movie with me?” I called quietly, switching through our streaming channels. Per usual he didn’t look at me.

“No. I have work to do,” he replied ever so bluntly. Disappointment settled inside of me.

“But you have off tomorrow. Do it tomorrow,”

My face fell when he simply went upstairs to his office without a word. Being the rather sensitive person I was, tears swelled in my eyes. Oh how much I despised being ignored. I shook my head, trying to focus on the bright side, even if there was none. For the next couple of minutes, I scrolled through my phone, watching cute cat videos to cheer me up.

I was quite surprised when I heard the creak of the stairs, signaling Jungkook’s return. He sat beside me on the couch, dressed in a baggy blue shirt and some equally baggy pants. And wow was he gorgeous with those big eyes and that eyebrow piercing. At least my husband was good-looking, despite his rather cold attitude.

“I thought you had work to do,” I said. He grabbed the remote, going to Netflix.

“I finished it,”

It was quite tough to stop the smile forming on my face. ‘You’re a good liar Jungkook, but I’m not dumb. You probably just felt bad and came back down so I wouldn’t be sad’ As if he finished his work in 5 minutes!

“What movie?” he asked stiffly.

I was too thrilled that he was actually doing something with me, and I was afraid he would leave at any moment, so I told him to pick. Not the best decision. He picked some weird horror movie, and the beginning credits began to roll over some spooky music.

“Aish, you know I don’t like horror movies,” I groaned. He said nothing and turned the volume up. Quite uninterested in the movie, I snuck glances at my husband every 30 seconds, physically unable to cease admiring his perfect bunny face. ‘I should stop before he catches me staring’

But I couldn’t stop. Not when his skin was smoother than our newly paved driveway!

Fudge.

I knew it.

I was falling for him, wasn’t I?

I sighed and tried to initiate some type of...I don’t even know. Caring? Love? Something of the sort. I pretended to shiver, gripping my forearms as if I was chilly. It had no effect on him whatsoever. I grumbled and tried a more vocal approach.

“I’m cold,” I whined.

“There’s a blanket right there” he replied, nodding to the woven blanket on the other side of the couch. ‘Geez, you can’t be a good husband and put it on me?’ I pouted, covering myself with the soft baby blue blanket, a marriage gift from Jungkook’s parents, originally for our future baby, which we were probably never gonna have.

‘I have to try something to make him care’ My eyes found his fit biceps, and an idea fell into my mind. ‘Oh, I hope he doesn’t kill me for this’

Taking a leap of faith, I leaned my head against his arm, feeling his warmth seeping into my scalp. I froze as his eyes found mine, eyebrows furrowed.

“What are you doing?”

“N-Nothing,”

I didn’t remove my head from his arm. He turned his attention back to the movie, allowing me to lean on him. This was probably the most amount of physical contact we’d had in a month. My heart beat a little faster.

So invested in being close to my husband, I wasn’t paying any attention to the movie, which had the WORST fucking jumpscare in history! My whole body jolted, my hand flying to my chest.

“SHIT!” I breathed, heart thumping in my chest. Jungkook gave me a glare.

“Watch your mouth,” he reprimanded sternly. I flushed and made a small ‘hmph’ sound, before curling into a ball on my side of the couch.

Now completely unwilling to watch the movie, I closed my eyes, intending to just relax until the movie was over. But I had taken another 2-hour walk that day, and I slipped into sleep, the screams from the movie fading into silence.

Night

My eyes opened, darkness surrounded me. I took a look around, realizing that I was in bed, perfectly tucked in, a pillow under my head. My eyes instinctively flickered to the alarm clock on my nightstand. It was 11 o’clock. ‘How did I end up here? Jungkook must’ve put me to bed. But how? Did he carry me? No, he wouldn’t..’ But how else would he?

Mood lightened, I stood, changing into my pink pajamas that were so soft and comfy. My lightened mood didn’t last long as I gazed at myself in the mirror again. I growled, gripping my abdomen angrily. How? I seemed to be getting even more fat! Despite all the walking and exercise I had been doing! Why???

I was about to punch the mirror when the bedroom door opened, revealing a tired Jungkook. I wanted to greet him, maybe wish him goodnight, but I was too shy to do so.

I laid down, grimacing when I felt my thighs rub together. ‘God I’m a fat slob’ I insulted myself. I listened to the brushes of Jungkook changing into his pj’s before he laid down as well, the bed sinking in a little.

I very much wanted to hug him, to snuggle, and maybe take away some of my hopelessness, but he’d probably pull away in an instant if I tried that.

So I closed my eyes, took deep breaths, and fell asleep for the second time that day. And once again, for the 3rd time that week, I had a dream the pancake monster was chasing me again.

This time he had the face of Jungkook, and he kept screaming how no one would ever love a girl as hideously fat as me, how he hated me with all his guts. I woke up at 4 am with a tear-stained face, and I left for the bathroom, shaky and feeling oh so worthless.

Next Day

I finished up the last sunny-side-up egg. Jungkook was sitting at the dining table, waiting for me to plate his food. I scooped the remaining egg onto the plate and placed it in front of him. I had made him sausage links, with eggs and shredded cheddar cheese.

I wasn’t intending to eat breakfast after the dream I had last night. Jungkook began eating before he frowned.

“There’s not enough cheese,”

I rolled my eyes and handed him the bag of shredded cheese.

“I’m gonna go try on my new outfit,”

He barely nodded and took out his phone. I walked upstairs to our bedroom, grabbing the new outfit before heading to the bathroom. I grew excited, seeing the cute outfit that I hoped would look fabulous on me.

Throwing all the tags in the garbage, I unbuttoned the blue shirt and unzipped the skirt and boots. My clothes hit the floor as I stripped down to my underwear. Smiling, I grabbed the shirt, slipping my arms through the long sleeves.

Oh… this was a little snug.

‘It’s ok, it’s probably just the material’ I thought to myself. But then I nearly broke my fingers trying to button the shirt up. It just wouldn’t go. ‘Aish, it’s just because my boobs are big’

I grabbed the skirt, making sure the zipper was all the way down before I pulled it up my legs.

More like tried to pull it up. When it got to my thighs, it wouldn’t fit. I squeezed my legs together and tried to yank it up over my thunder thighs. It was futile. The waistband couldn’t get over my thighs.

I felt tears spring to my eyes as I threw the clothes on the ground. Rage burned inside of me. It was so unfair. I had barely eaten and exercised my butt off for the past 5 days and I was still fat as a pig. Inevitably, the waterworks came, and tears fell down my cheeks. ‘I’m the fucking worst. Jungkook spent $120 on this for me and it doesn’t even fit my fat ass.’

Baffled as to why it didn’t fit at all, I pulled the electronic scale out from under the sink cabinet. I nervously stepped on it, crossing my fingers for a good number. The seconds that went by felt like hours, and a beep signaled the final digits.

My eyes nearly burst out of their sockets.

No. No that couldn’t be right!

I stepped off the scale and waited for the number to vanish before stepping back on. And for the second time, I still saw the same, horrible, huge number. ‘It can’t be true. This...it must be broken. It’s not right!!’ But it was. The scale was brand new, only a couple of weeks old. I just couldn't accept that I was so goddamn fat. The number was nothing less than shocking. How did this happen? All those small desserts really added up over time, didn’t they?

‘You’re such a pig Y/n. You’ve eaten so much and now look at you! You’re disgusting! Jungkook deserves a better wife than you! No wonder he doesn’t love you! You’re a fatass!!!’

It all felt like a bad dream. Only it was real.

Filled to the brim with utter self-hatred and despair, I sat on the edge of the tub and did the only thing I could do.

I cried.

Jungkook POV

Jungkook sprinkled more cheddar cheese onto his eggs, waiting for it to melt. Once it did, he took a large bite, chewing slowly to savior the yummy combination. As he was about to take another bite, he suddenly heard loud… crying?

He looked around for the noise. It could only be his wife, Y/n, who was upstairs. Jungkook sighed, tossing his napkin on the table as he stood.

“Did she slip and hurt herself again?”

He made his way to the bathroom, where the cries were coming from. He listened at the door for a second. Yup, she was definitely crying in there. He raised his hand, ready to knock on the bathroom door.

Y/n POV

A knock sounded on the door. I lifted my head from my lap.

“Y/n? What’s going on?” Jungkook’s voice called.

I just didn’t care at this point to answer him. I wanted to curl up into a ball forever and forget this nightmare. More sobs left my mouth as I wallowed in my pain. I heard a sigh and the door swung open, Jungkook standing in the doorway. I was too ashamed to meet his eye. He stepped over, squatting in front of me.

“What’s wrong?” he asked stoically as if this was something he was used to. I only whimpered, hiding my face in my hands. Oh, there weren’t words that could describe how useless I felt.

“Look at me,”

Again I just didn’t care. I couldn't care. The only thing that mattered in my mind was my weight. That was all that was important to me at that moment.

“Look at me” he repeated, pushing my chin up with two fingers. I reluctantly met his gaze, my tears dripping off my face. God, I must’ve looked so ugly and haggard. How could a man like him have married a worthless girl like me?

I stared into his dark chocolate eyes, wishing I could be as beautiful as him.

“What’s wrong?” he asked again, softer this time, in a tone I had never heard before. Desperate for any support, I gave up, opening my mouth.

“The… The outfit doesn’t fit,”

I was so embarrassed by just the mere statement. Jungkook frowned, glancing at the clothes thrown on the floor.

“I thought it was the right size,”

The next statement was even more humiliating.

“I went up a size. I gained weight” I whispered.

Part of me expected Jungkook to laugh in my face, or maybe divorce me right then and there. But he did neither of those things. He merely said “Oh. Well, I can buy you a new one.”

A furious whine left my throat, anger bubbling inside of me despite his thoughtfulness.

“That’s not the point!! I’ve gotten so fat! I’ve gained so much weight!” I cried, balling my fists.

“Don’t say that, you’re not fat,”

“Yes, I am!! I’m xxx pounds Jungkook! I’m so fat!” I argued, despair turning to rage.

Jungkook sighed and wiped a tear on my cheek. My eyes widened, not believing what just happened. Did he really just do that? Did he wipe away my tear?

“So what if you gained weight? You’re still beautiful,”

My heart almost burst out of my chest. HE DID NOT JUST CALL ME BEAUTIFUL!! I blushed, cheeks flaming and crimson.

“B-But I hate being fat,”

He gave an irritated sigh.

“You’re not fat. You’re curvy” he insisted. “There’s nothing wrong with being a little curvy,”

“But I-”

“Don’t ‘but’ me. Your body is fine”

“No, it’s not! I’m overweight! My thighs are all gross and jiggly and my hips are thick and-”

“So what? I like your curves. They’re beautiful.” he said firmly.

Now that really got me.

My heart pounded. I had never been complimented by him in all our 2 years of marriage. My mind short-circuited, unable to comprehend that he was actually saying this to me.

“M-models don’t have curves,”

He scoffed.

“Y/n, you know I work with models for our campaign advertisements. It's all fake. Most of the final products are edited and airbrushed, you know that”

“But they have thigh gaps,” I said weakly.

“Y/n, most models don’t have thigh gaps. I’ve met models under 95 pounds, and they don’t have a thigh gap. Is that your idea of pretty? Being so skinny that your legs don’t touch at all?”

I shrugged lamely.

“Don’t compare yourself to models Y/n. Stop chasing after perfection. It doesn’t exist.”

“I’m...I’m not beautiful like you say, Jungkook. I’ve got stretch marks and cellulite…” I said, eyes trailing down to the stretch marks on my hips.

“That’s normal for women. In fact, over 80% of women have them. Believe it or not, models have cellulite and stretch marks too. Nobody is perfect Y/n. How many times do I have to tell you that?” he asked, slightly exasperated. I sighed, another tear slipping down my cheek.

“I just want to be skinny. I want to be pretty” I sobbed.

“Would that make you happy? Being skinny? Would that be the solution to everything?”

“No…” I admitted, looking down at my lap.

I knew deep down that being skinny wouldn’t make all my problems go away. Sure it might make me more confident, but would that really make me happy? Would all my self-hatred just disappear like that?

I coughed, wiping away the rest of my tears. I hated being so pathetic.

“Y/n, all bodies are… All healthy bodies are beautiful. And you are healthy. Just because you have some curves doesn’t mean you’re fat. When I first saw you on our wedding day, in your dress, do you know what I thought?” he asked, tucking some hair behind my ear.

“What?”

I was blushing so intensely that I knew he could certainly see it.

“I thought you looked absolutely gorgeous,”

He spoke slowly, emphasized each word. “I still think you look gorgeous, Y/n. And I will love you regardless of your body. You should do the same.”

I hiccupped, unsure of how to handle this new side of Jungkook. He’d never been so kind to me before. I for sure thought he was gonna snicker and turn away, but...he didn’t. He stayed there with me, trying to talk some sense into me. Trying to make me understand that I am beautiful.

“Thank you...for supporting me” I whispered, sounding all too congested and tired. But Jungkook didn’t mind, as he gave me a small pat on the head.

“That’s what I’m here for. I get that I’m...not the most affectionate husband, but I’m still your husband. You can always come to me. You know that right?” he asked.

“I do now,” I whispered.

“Don’t be afraid to tell me anything. You are my wife and whether you believe it or not...I care about you. More than you know.”

“I-I never knew you felt that way about me,”

I blew my nose into a wad of toilet paper. Jungkook gave me a fond look, caressing my cheek.

“I’ve always felt that way about you Y/n. I don’t show it often, but those feeling are always there. Now, let’s go have some breakfast. Come on. Get changed. I’ll be in the kitchen,”

Jungkook helped me to stand. I rubbed my nose and headed to our bedroom while he went downstairs. I changed into just a t-shirt and shorts, before going down to the kitchen.

Jungkook pulled a chair beside him, patting the seat, signaling me to sit. I sat beside him, watching him impale some cheesy eggs with his fork. He held the food up to my lips and gave me an expectant look.

“Open,”

I eyed the eggs, feeling uneasy around the fat-filled food. I shook my head as I tried to come up with a believable excuse.

“I don’t like cheddar cheese” I lied.

He gave me a look that let me know he could tell I was lying.

“Why? Because it’s more calories? Because cheese is high in fat and sodium?”

I slouched in defeat. I really couldn’t get anything around Jungkook.

“One bite of eggs and cheese is not going to make you fat,”

He inched the food closer to my face. It smelled so delicious and I just couldn’t resist so I opened my mouth and ate the food. WOW. Jungkook was feeding me. This was probably the most romantic thing we’d done in months.

He held up more eggs, prompting me to eat more.

“Have some more. I’ve noticed how you haven’t really been eating,”

I ate more and more until he had fed me the entire dish of eggs and cheddar cheese.

“No walking today. You have to learn to keep the calories in,” he said firmly.

“How did you know I was walking?” I asked, dumbfounded.

“You left your running shoes at the door and your water bottle was in the sink,”

I nodded, still amazed at how observant my husband was. Maybe there was hope for us after all.

At the thought, I glanced at his beauty, his soft clear skin, his perfect nose, his hair that was so perfect you wanted to ruin it. ‘Maybe I am lucky to be with him’ I leaned closer to Jungkook, giving him my big puppy eyes. He gave the smallest smile and tickled my cheek with a single finger.

“Can…. Can I hug you?” I asked shyly, looking down at my feet.

5 seconds went by with no response. ‘I guess I expected that, ' I thought to myself.

But then I felt warm arms wrap around my body, hugging me close and tight. I held in the gasp, and hugged him back, feeling his muscles move under my hands. This was the first time we ever hugged. ‘Hm, he smells so good!’ I cherished the moment and buried my face into his fit chest. I felt something stir inside of me, something so sweet and happy that it made me weak in the knees.

It was love.

Taking a deep breath, I said the one thing that had never been said before in our 2 years of marriage.

“I love you Kookie.”

The End

Notes:

Let me know if you guys would like me to change the pov from "I" to "you".

Thank you for reading this, I particularly enjoyed this fanfic because it addresses body positivity and how insecurity can morph into something much more vicious.

I really enjoyed Jungkook's character in this because it was so fun and tricky to give him character depth that was subtle but impactful! I had to edit his dialogue so many times to fit his personality.

Also, the reason I didn't include the size number or weight of Y/N is because I didn't want to possibly trigger anyone with numbers and sizes. The 'xxx' and '...' are NOT for you to put your own weight or size in, they are merely a placeholder.

If you have any constructive criticism or tips feel free to leave them in the comments!
