Work Text:

KANG SAE-BYEOK — PLAYER 067.

since sae-byeok's brother is in the orphanage, and her mother is still in the north, she spends a lot of her time feeling isolated from others. when she meets and falls in love with her s/o, all she wants to do is spend quality time with them. their presence means a sense of security that nothing else could really provide her at that time, just being around them felt like answers she didn't have before.

CHO SANG WOO — PLAYER 218.

sang woo knows what it's like to be showered in unwanted attention, affirmation and congratulations by his colleagues and friends (cough, gi-hun cough). he attended SNU business, after all, but he finds it all quite annoying by now. he would never want his s/o to feel like their accomplishments determined their worth. he finds them to be extraordinary no matter what school, or career they pursue. this leads me to believe his love language would be gifts or maybe even acts of service (because, to him, showing his s/o that their amazing means a lot more than saying it.

HWANG JUN-HO — GUARD 29.

i could not pin a singular love language to this man, because i genuinely think he'd be an expert at all them naturally. he's a cop, so he has a pretty good memory, and he randomly retains things they said they liked even months ago so he can buy it as a gift. he loves quality time, because he remembers how it felt to lose his brother, and he wouldn't want to waste a second of time alone when it could be spent around his s/o. that is also intertwined with physical touch—whenever he's spending time with them, he loves to physically feel their presence. even if it's just subtle, two pinkies interlocked, he ADORES it.

ALI ABDUL — PLAYER 199.

we all know that ali is strong (literally made a full grown man LEVITATE over the ground while not moving an inch, king.) but he's also extraordinarily sensitive and feels his touch has better use. in particular, showing his love to his s/o. he always has his hand on their back, shoulder, thigh, and is almost always holding their own hand—engulfing it within his own. he also gives the best, most warm hugs in the world.

JI-YEONG — PLAYER 240.

i feel like her lack of parental validation (with both her mother and father being dead and her having spent time in prison) would lead her to showering her s/o in words of affirmation and acts of service. she, for a long time, felt worthless and would want them to know that they always had worth to her. her s/o of course picked up on her words and actions, and although she would never admit it: ji-yeong missed the idea of making them proud. over time you'd start to give her the same words and care that she has wanted for so long.

SEONG GI-HUN — PLAYER 456.

i feel like he spent a long time trying to fit into some "box" for how he expresses his love, but it's all over the place. he doesn't know how to embrace certain things or when it's just not working. like we saw in episode one, he's not the greatest at picking out gifts, and like with sang woo, he doesn't know when to quit with words. but he tries, and in one way or another, that is his love language: trying his hardest to make his s/o feel loved and cared for.
