Chapter Text
“... Er… Yes, Fragment? You… needed me?” Steven entered the office of the Fabrication O-4, and sat down.
“Oh, hello, Mr. Jahr. Yes, I need you for an assignment down at the, uh, Odd Squad.”
Steven froze. “... Odd… Squad? I… is this an early April Fools joke, or…”
“Of course not, they’re the Foundation’s agent-in-training division. They help with more… public cases.”
“Oh. Huh. Well, what do you need me to do?”
“Right. There’s a problem with the ventilation system there, and none of the technicians can handle it.”
“Because? Do they not have ladders?”
“Oh, no, it’s because the Squad is made up of… younger Agents.”
“So children?”
“Yes.”
“So, apologies, but… You’re asking me… to go to a place, filled with children, to… find something in a vent?”
“... Look, at least you won’t die from it.”
“I suppose so. Thank you for the assignment, Fragment.”
Steven sighed, carrying his toolbox. He looked at his device. He didn’t see any entrance to the HQ, just… a bush. “... Is this some cruel joke on me? Where’s the…” He paused, noticing… a small hole. Jahr peered into the hole, noticing… a tube.

[SJahr] Uh. I’m at where I’m supposed to be. I only see a bush and a tube beneath it.
[FRAGMENT] The tube’s how you get in.
[SJahr] Oh. Understood
----
Steven shook his head, and slipped into the tube. Seconds later, he stepped out into the local Odd Squad headquarters. The tube operator panicked, and set off an alarm. He radio’d someone. “THERE’S AN ADULT IN HERE.”

[FRAGMENT] Oh yeah. Might wanna say you came here on orders from the “Big O”. Otherwise they’ll think you’re some intruder.
----
Seconds later, a young girl, couldn’t be over 10, stared him down.
“Who are you, and how did you get in here!? This is unauthorized territory!”
Steven looked down at her. “And you are?”
“Ms. O. I run this place.”
“... Well, I’m on here for orders from the Big O to be here, so…”
Her eyes widened. “Oh. Okay. You here for the vent problem?”
“Yep.”
“Okay. SOMEONE GET ME A JUICE!” An assistant came running up to her, juice box in hand. “H-Here’s your juice, ma’am…”
“Thank you. Walk with me, Mr…”
“Steven Jahr.”
“Walk with me, Jahr.” She sipped from the juice box, and started moving down the hall. Steven quickly followed.
