Tap.
Shadow rolled to his side, using a pillow to cover his ears from whatever was tapping against his window. It has been going on for a full minute now, he’d assume it was some sort of bird being an annoyance.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
He sat up from his bed, at this point, the bird would’ve been done with whatever it wanted with his window. It couldn’t be a tree branch either because he’s living on the second story of the apartment. Shadow got out from the comfy mattress, and covers, and made his way to the damn window, then opened it.
“Would you please-” A pebble was flicked against his forehead, interrupting what he had to say.
“Oops.” He recognized that voice, he looked to see who was at the bottom of the apartment, and it was none other than Sonic the Hedgehog.
“What in chaos are you doing here at 6 in the morning faker?”
“I just missed you, Romeo.” Shadow shook his head, he couldn't argue with that adorable face. Even if he did, he knows he will end up losing this battle anyway.
"You could've just knocked."
"Yeah, but this seems a lot more romantic." He pretended to look at his nails. "Besides, the sunlight reflecting off of your red eyes makes them look like jewels." The dark hedgehog blushed out of embarrassment, they could keep talking like this for the next hour, but Shadow doesn't want to wake the whole building up with his flirting.
"Just come inside and wait by the door, I'll go unlock it for you." He closed the window as Sonic went into the apartment. Since he was up, Shadow made the bed, and went to the washroom to prepare himself for the morning. After doing so, he went to open the door for Sonic.
"Took you long enough." The blue blur remarked.
"I like to be organized, unlike you."
"What does that mean?!" His partner only laughed, and went over to the kitchen to pour himself some coffee beans.
"Coffee?" He offered.
"I'm not a coffee person. Last time I had caffeine, Tails had to try catching me before the house broke down."
"Did it?"
"No, but I did cause a decent amount of damage to the kitchen, and living room." He chuckled at the memory. Sonic sat down at the table as Shadow sat next to him, drinking from the cup of beans. The blue hedgehog snickered at the sight of it.
“Dude, you’re not gonna brew ‘em or something?”
“Why should I? It adds more texture.” He took another sip.(?)
“No one has their coffee like that.”
“Maybe so, but at least I’m enjoying it with you.” Sonic blushed as he looked at him lovingly, and then quickly kissed him on the cheek. He got up, and walked up to the fridge to search for some eggs.
“How about some breakfast to go with that cup of beans?”
"I would love some." He watched as Sonic started to crack the eggs into a pan, and listened to them sizzle.
“I didn’t know you can cook.”
“Well, I gotta feed me and Tails somehow.” He seasoned the eggs with some pepper he found in his cabinets. “I wasn’t good at it at first, but I’ve managed. I’m no five star chef either, so don’t expect anything gourmet.” The speedster then took the eggs out of the pan, and placed them on two plates. “Breakfast is served.” Sonic announced proudly, and delivered the sunny side ups to the table.
Shadow examined the meal briefly, grabbed a fork, and took a bite out of it.
“Not bad, sunshine.” He said. The other almost snorted when he heard the nickname.
“Sunshine?”
“Seeing you always brighten my day.”
“Aww, I’m touched.” Sonic sat back down to enjoy his meal. Sunshine was a good way to describe him, he’s always up bright and early, has the ability to make any dull moment fun, and not to mention his smile. It always brought a little bit of joy to Shadow’s heart whenever he saw it, and he saw it every time he saw him.
Shadow couldn't help but stare at him in admiration.
"Watcha lookin at? Didn't anyone tell you it's bad to look at the sun?" Sonic asked as he had taken notice of his boyfriend's gaze. The other slightly stumbled back from being caught, though he shot him back with a complimentary reply.
"Well I guess I should get my sunglasses then, because i want to look at this star forever."
"Oh really?" Sonic got up to get closer to Shadow. He's now only a few centimeters away from face, with a sly expression on his own. "Then you better put some sunscreen on, cause it's only getting hotter." He kissed him on the lips.
Shadow kissed him back, and pulled him closer. It was warm, though that didn't matter because he would risk getting burned multiple times, if it meant he gets to be with his ball of sunshine.
"Morning love birds." They were interrupted to see Rouge standing by the doorway in her pajamas. "I couldn't help but be woken up by you two flirting." She crossed her arms with a big smirk plastered onto her face. "Still have any of those eggs for me?"
"Oh uh, of course. I'll get you a plate." Sonic pulled back from Shadow, and stammered to prepare some eggs for Rouge. The bat only rolled her eyes, and sat at the table with them.
"I didn't think we'd have guests here today." She said to her friend who was still slightly embarrassed.
"I didn't either, but here we are." He drank from his cup, and went back to staring at his boyfriend.
"He should come here more often, it's a nice change to see you all flustered like this."
"Please shut up."
