"What are your intentions with my sister?"
Powder's question caught both Vi and Caitlyn off balance. Vi, who was in the middle of swallowing her food (prepared so wonderfully by Caitlyn) almost had a choking fit.
That night, they were celebrating Vi and Powder moving into a new apartment, and finally finding some semblance of stability. Caitlyn offered to cook them their first meal of the new home, mostly because Vi and Powder have zero skills in the kitchen, but also in an attempt to slowly warm up to Powder.
She and Vi had just started dating a few weeks ago. They weren't exactly keeping it secret, but they also weren't advertising it. Caitlyn planned to break the news to Powder once the blue haired demolitionist started liking her (or even tolerating her at the very least), so she was quite surprised by the question too.
Vi, who had recovered from the coughing fit (helped by the glass of water Caitlyn had quietly offered her), spoke up first.
"Powder, what do you mean by that?"
Powder rolled her eyes and gave her sister a look that said *are you kidding me?*.
"I'm not a child Vi. I've seen how you two are together. So, Ms. Sherrif of Piltover, I'm going to ask you again. What are your intentions with my sister?"
Vi was about to speak up again, but Caitlyn assured her with a smile, and answered Powder.
"Look, Powder- "
"It's Jinx to you." *Jinx* interrupted.
"Alright, Jinx then. I assure you, my "intentions" with your sister, as you put it, are completely pure."
"Oh, I'm sure you two are doing some very *pure* things in your alone time, aren't you?"
Both Vi and Caitlyn blushed at this. Vi groaned and covered her face with her hands. Okay, her intentions were not a hundred percent pure, but can you blame her? They'd been flirting with each other for years by now, so when they finally started dating, all those thoughts and fantasies could be fulfilled. It's not her fault that Vi's biceps make her heart rate go up, or that looking at her abs makes her blush, or that when she smirks at her-
Caitlyn stopped herself from getting off track.
"That aside, Jinx, all I want is what's best for Vi. I love her, and I know she loves me too. I want her to be happy, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. I know she cares a lot about you, which is why I want to get to know you too... if that's okay with you?", Caitlyn finished, sending Jinx a hopeful look.
Jinx was quietly contemplating those words, her eyes slowly darting between Vi and Caitlyn.
Caitlyn glanced at Vi, who was looking at her with such fondness that it made her want to kiss her right then and there. She didn't, of course. There would be time for that later (she'd make sure of that).
"Ugh, you two are so in love, it's disgusting. Fine! You can date my sister, but I got my eye on you Kiramman", declared Jinx, pointing her fork at Caitlyn.
Caitlyn and Vi let out a sigh of relief simultaneously. Baby steps. It was a victory that Jinx didn't outright reject her. Not that they'd stop dating if she had, but it certainly would have made things harder. Maybe someday, Caitlyn would also be able to use Jinx's real name. Maybe dinners like this will become a daily ritual for the three of them. Maybe one day, she'll be a part of their little family.
"Do you guys like the food?", Caitlyn asked as they resumed their meal.
Vi looked at her with love in her eyes. "It's perfect."
Jinx didn't meet her eyes, but after a while, she mumbled, "It's not bad."
