Dean sighed tapping his fingers along the sewn lines of his steering wheel staring out the windshield of the impala.
Sam had gone out to look up some lore for the current case they were on which left Dean on look out, which he usually doesn’t complain about but when your staring into a field with nothing to look at expect the blank black sky it got kinda boring but as Dean continued to look out at the nothing filled sky he was met with a rush of air then a quiet but monotone voice following.
“Hello Dean”
On instinct Dean rushed towards the dash of his car grabbing the knife laying on top of it that was in easy reach, turning around to stab whatever appeared though slowly putting it down when he realized who it was.
“Geez Cas how many times have I told you not to sneak up on me”
The angel didn’t answer instead going towards the radio turning it on to whatever station it came up as then leaning back “I always wonder how humans out so much music into one little box”
“What- Cas” Dean was confused why would he come here just to talk about that “did you come here just to talk about the physics of the radio? Because if so I have no answers for you dude”
Cas shook his head “I didn’t come here for that Dean” the angel turned “I came here because you were lonely”
Dean scoffed turning back to his wheel “that’s just not true Cas-”
“The first station that turned on was mellow music Dean” Cas motioned towards the sad like music playing “I may not know much about human emotions but… I know you and when a Winchester listens to music like this” he motioned towards the box again “I know somethings up”
“Alright fine Cas I might be a little lonely”
With no time in between Castiel tried to get straight to the point “Why?”
“I- I don’t know Cas” the man shrugged straightening his leather jacket “just look outside no stars, no moon, just darkness. It’s sad”
“So, the world is making you sad?”
“You could say that”
“In my eternity of living Dean not once has it made me sad”
That shocked Dean a bit sending Castiel a look of confusion but also wanting him to continue.
“I looked at the little things, the things that made no significance to anyone but me”
Dean scoffed “how does that make you happy Cas?”
That question left the two in silence, Dean thinking he has finally scared the angel of before the other grabbed his hand pulling the male out of the car on the drivers side, Dean landing in the ground with a loud thud.
Confused as Castiel pulled Dean up stopping in his tracks looking the angel dead in the eyes “What are you doing”
“You’ll see” he answered before continuing to drag the man across the dirt, for a small guy he surprisingly had a lot of strength and before Dean knew it they were both in the middle of the field he was supposed to be watching.
“Sit” the angel told him and without hesitation Dean sat down, not wanting to be pulverized by Cas’s angel powers. Castiel also followed suit sitting down beside Dean which made them only a hands length away from each other before Cas layer down motioning for Dean to do the same.
“Alright Cas I did all that you asked me too, now can you tell me what we're doing”
Castiel huffed “Isn’t obvious I’m making you in-sad, now look at the sky”
Dean wondered how looking at the blank sky was going to change anything but he did as told anyway and after a few seconds Cas put a hand over his eyes.
“You saw only darkness right?” Cas asked still keeping the hand over the other mans eyes.
“Uh yes”
“Ok, now look” Castiel removed his hand from deans eyes, which Immediately filled with gleaming stars and light where ever he looked it was as if the sky had been reborn into something more beautiful, more wonderful.
“Cas- how- how did you do this?” Dean asked completely awe struck with no words left to use except for “it’s amazing”
“This” the trench coated angel pointed towards the sky “is what I see”
“How- no not even how Cas, why, why would you do this for me?” The man asked eyes still full of awe.
He just shrugged “Because your my friend and you were sad and I couldn’t just let you be sad what kind of person would I be then”
Dean nodded “point proven”
After the two stared at the sky longer than they would both like to admit Cas asked a question.
“Did this make you feel less alone Dean?”
With no pause Dean answered back.
“Yes Cas, more then I could’ve ever hoped for”
