Adrien was sitting on Marinette’s desk browsing a magazine as he waited for her. When he heard her approach, he sighed and threw the magazine aside.
“What are you doing, kitty?” She asked over his shoulder, her arms draped across his chest as she leaned in and kissed his cheek.
“These rankings are useless!” He grumbled, pointing to the offending magazine. “Everyone fighting over an imaginary trophy or something. Who cares who’s the sexiest one alive?” He huffed. “I don’t even know why you have this.”
Marinette’s laughter tickled his ear.
“It’s entertaining. And look who’s talking, mister magazine cover,” she giggled. “You know sometime soon you’ll be in one of those rankings as well.”
“Pfft, I don’t care about this - strangers voting for me or not, it doesn’t matter and you know it,” he pouted.
“What do you care about then?”
“Hm. It would be different if you made your own ranking,” he smiled slowly. “If you could rank my superhero guises for example,” he turned to her with a smirk.
“Oh, you have no problem having someone sing your praises as long as this someone is me, eh?”
“You got that right. But see, I won’t be the only one being praised. We’ll swap. You say one, I say one.”
“You go first then,” she teased him, probably thinking that he didn’t have an answer ready.
“Dragonbug,” he said, relishing in the way her eyes widened.
“How did you even pay attention to how I looked in that moment?” She asked.
“I always notice. Yes, it was a tense moment and we were fighting for our lives. But you looked magnificent. Red is definitely your colour, m’lady.”
He used the chair to around completely and face her so he could pull her into his arms. One of these days he had to convince her to unify Tikki and Longg just for him.
“Speaking of red,” she smiled mysteriously. “Mister Bug.”
He blinked in surprise. He hadn’t expected that.
“Now you’re messing with me. I’m pretty sure you paid no attention to me when I was Mister Bug.” Now he felt the desire to pout again. What a waste of a good suit that had been.
“I totally see more than I let on,” she bopped his nose. “Did you think I missed those abs, bugaboy,” she added with a wink. Ok, this would explain her being extra flirty back then to an extent, he had to agree.
“Hm. My turn. Multimouse.”
Looking at her, he could so clearly see the grey and pink around her eyes and her hair up in two buns.
“I thought you’d be mad at me for that, not have fond memories,” she chuckled.
“You were the sweetest mouse and I know you needed to trick me, so I’m not mad at you,” he said, playfully nuzzling her neck.
“Astrocat,” she said, making him pause.
“You’re starting on the power-ups? Yeah, I guess I haven’t tried that many Miraculouses. Now I feel sad that Aspik gets no love,” he pursed his lips. Not that he wanted to remember that time, but it still stung a little.
“Oh, Aspik! You were very cute as Aspik, but in my defence, the time I remember spending with Aspik was a tiny fraction of what you lived through. Also, I missed your hair,” she said softly.
“You know why I needed to do it.”
“I know. Meanwhile, Astrocat! I totally love the glowing look.”
“You got me there. I love it as well,” he grinned at her.
“Hey, I thought this was about my preferences for you, not yours,” she laughed.
“Ok, ok. Look, I can’t decide between Aquabug and Icebug,” he admitted.
“Would a kiss help?” Her nose was already brushing his as she said that.
“Oh, yes! That’s the best way to bribe the judge,” he agreed, welcoming the eager touch of her lips. He would list all her looks eventually and they would all win because at the end of the day it was always Marinette behind the mask and she was the only one who held his heart.
