Work Text:
“Magician, Magician,” a voice called for Gen, using his nickname.
“Hmmmh?” Gen groaned in response.
“Wake up,” His boyfriend, Magma, shook him awake.
“I’m up I’m up,” Gen opened his eyes little by little. Gen instantly regretted waking up when he realized how cold it was in his hut. Gen pulled the overcoat he had worn to bed closer to himself. “When did it get so cold,” Gen shivered.
“Well, of course, it’s snowing outside,” Magma explained.
“Ohhh,” Gen replied, still half asleep. “Did you come here just to tell me that, dear Magma chan?”
“It’s the first snowfall of the year,” Magma clicked his tongue. “Did the old world not celebrate that?”
“Not really,” Gen replied. “It just got colder and harder to drive but you got on with your day,” Gen sat up and shrugged.
“Hmmh,” Magma hummed, a bit judgmentally.
“Sorry sorry,” Gen yawned. “What kind of things do you do when it snows?”
“Well, it makes hunting a hell a lot more difficult! But that’s where the fun is,” Magma snickered.
“Anddd~,” Gen sang.
“Yeah yeah, The village has this yearly snowball fight and…,”
“And?”
“And… I wanted you to join in,” Magma mumbled a bit.
Magma had made improvements in his honesty. He was more open with what he wanted and Gen appreciated it.
“And Senkuu chan?” Gen asked.
“The bean sprout? Just said something about working us extra hard tomorrow or whatever,” Magma shrugged.
“Tchh ughh,” Gen flipped back into his bed. “Senkuu chan is going to be the death of me. So much manual labor. So rutual bayy~ In the snow no less,”
“Ehh don’t worry, I’ll help you,” Magma added.
“Thank you Magma chan. I’ll be out in a bit,” Gen thanked.
“Don’t take forever. I’ll drag you out if I have to,” Magma teased.
“You may have to,” Gen rubbed his eyes. “Give me a sec to get used to the cold,”
“Tch, you’re just weak,” Magma playfully rolled his eyes.
And with that Magma opened the door and left. The gust of wind entered and Gen just pulled the covers over himself again.
What I wouldn’t give for AC right now… after this, I’m asking for cuddles.
“Soo what did he say?” Kohaku asked.
“He said he’d be out soon. Said something about how old world people would just go to work when it snowed,”
“Senkuu said the same thing,” Kohaku sighed. “How much convincing I had to do just to get him and Chrome away from his rocks,” Kohaku sighed. “I’m surprised I was able to,” Kohaku remarked.
“Woahhhhhhh! Out the way!” Ryusui’s voice screamed.
Ryusui slid down the snowy hill on a snowboard.
Flash!
The light from Minami’s camera’s flash blinded the two for a second. “Got it Ryusui!” Minami chirped.
“Hah! Sweet!” Ryusui grinned.
“Why you,” Kohaku growled.
“Ohh sorry ab-,” Ryusui started but was met with a snowball to the face.
“Heh, get that one Minami,” Kohaku snickered.
“Uhh,” Minami sounded.
Another snowball flew right at Kohaku. “Payback,” Ryusui grinned.”Why you!” Kohaku scooped more snow from the ground and threw it at Ryusui but this time Ryusui knew to duck. Instead, it hit Kinro in the back of the head.
“Ahhh sorry about that Kinro!” Kohaku waved.
“Hah! You got hit in the back of the head,” Ginro teased his brother.
“Ginro…,” Kinro said through gritted teeth.
“And the match doesn’t even start in like-,” Ginro soon got a snowball to his face too.
“Ha!” Kinro laughed, before getting hit by one too,”
“Take that!” Chrome shouted.
“Ohh no you don’t Chrome!!”
Gen slipped on his sweater and finally stepped outside. The snow was already littered with footprints in the snow. Snowflakes fell from the sky landing on Gen’s coat as he walked over the snow on the main island. The crunch of the snow under his feet with each step. The closer he got the more he heard excited screams and cries.
“Get down,” A voice called and pulled Gen behind a tree before a snowball Gen didn’t notice hit the tree behind him.
“Magam chan?” Gen asked.
“It’s Kohaku and Nikki,” Magma explained. “May have got on their bad side,”
“What?! How?”
“First I hit with a snowball the news lady and then hit Kohaku by accident,”
Another snowball flew past Gen. “Awww come on Magma. Don’t be a baby,” Kohaku teased.
“Yeah, come out already,” Nikki called, throwing another snowball.
“You did not just piss off two of the strongest people here,” Gen panicked.
“Heh It’s a good challenge,”
“Oh we’re sooooo dead,” Gen sang.
“Not yet we’re not!” Magma got some snow from the ground and formed a snowball out of it, grabbing more snow to add to the snowball.
Gen sighed. “Might as well,”
Magma ran out from behind the tree and charged at the others. Gen peaked from out the tree and threw snowballs at them too.
“Mwhaa!” Magma maniacally laughed.
.
.
.
“Urkk,” Magma flinched a bit when Gen wrapped the bandage around Magma’s arm.
“I still don’t know how you managed to hurt your arm,” Gen sighed.
“Tchhh I wasn’t about to go down without a night,” Magma looked away embarrassed.
“Sure sure Magma chan,” Gen smiled. “Just stay still for a bit,”
Gen finished wrapping up the rest of Magma’s bruised arm. The whole time, Gen’s fingers felt numb from how long they had spent outside in the snow. Gen felt an itch in his nose and turned the other way to sneeze.
“You alright magician?” Magma asked.
“Oh yeah, just spent a bit too long out in the snow you know,” Gen cut off and finished the wrap.
“...How.. why don’t you turn on the furnace and we can do that thing you like,” Magma blushed more than he already was.
Gen smiled at his boyfriend’s cute attempt to ask to cuddle. “Sure,”
Gen put more wood in the furnace and clicked the fire on. Gen sat back next to Magma and leaned on Magma’s side. Magma took the corner of the blanket he had over himself and put over the both of them to help keep the warmth in. Magma and Gen watch the small fire dance on the wood through the grates of the furnace. The crackling sound comforted both of them. Gen would feel his eyes getting heavier and heavier as he looked at the small flame.
Gen pulled Magma’s hand from around his shoulder to his lips and kissed the blonde’s knuckles.
"Good night Magma chan,"
"Good night magician,"
