Law and Luffy were standing near the figurehead of the Thousand Sunny. The both of them were standing side by side, looking and appreciating the view of the beautiful sunset.
Law briefly looked at Luffy and he felt his lips twitch slightly. The orange light, courtesy of the sun setting, reflected on Luffy and in his eyes the light made Luffy more beautiful.
‘I want to spend more time with him. I want to have more moments like this with him. I want to--”
“Torao” hearing Luffy’s voice, his train of thoughts stopped.
“Hmm?”
“I'll always be by your side Torao.” Luffy said, still looking at the view of the sun setting.
Law raised an eyebrow upon hearing what his fellow captain said. Having Luffy by his side always sounds nice but that’s impossible. The future is uncertain for people like them.
“How can you be so sure that you’ll always be by my side, Strawhat-ya? There are going to be times where you won’t be there for me and of course this also applies to me too. There will be times where I won’t be there for you.” The sun has completely set by now so he turned his head to the side to completely look at Luffy, “Plus, you and I have our own crew so eventually both of us will have to--”
“I DON’T CARE” Luffy said, anger evident in his voice, and looked at Law to glare at him, “Stop talking like that Torao.”
Law felt his eyes widen, shocked at seeing Luffy suddenly glaring at him, “Stop talking like what? And why are you suddenly mad?”
“Because Torao is being stupid.”
“Excuse me?”
Law sighed and mentally face palmed, “Look Strawhat-ya, if you are getting mad because of what I said then you need to calm the fuck down.”
After he said that it seemed like it had the opposite effect on Luffy. Instead of calming down he got even more mad. Luffy was slightly shaking and continued to glare at Law.
“How can I calm down when you are saying that I’ll leave you completely alone when we go our own separate ways?!”
“Because everyone eventually leaves Luffy-ya” Law explained, “Everyone leaves because nothing in this world lasts forever and even if it did, who the fuck would want and choose to be with me?”
“ME!” Luffy shouted, “Along with my friends, I will want and choose to be with you Torao.”
Law’s mind went completely blank after hearing what the person in front of him said. No response came out from him because he didn’t know what to say. His heart is beating like crazy right now and he feels warm. He’s also pretty sure that he’s a blushing mess and he thanks whoever is out there that his or Luffy’s crew is not outside to witness the mess they are right now.
“Str--”
“Stop talking and thinking like that Torao.” Luffy said in a serious voice.
After that everything went silent. Both of them didn’t say anything for a while.
The strong gust of wind caused Luffy’s hat to fall from his head. Luffy took a step closer and Law continued to stare at Luffy and gosh Luffy was still looking at him but right now instead of glaring, Luffy was looking at him softly.
“Law”
A quiet gasp escaped from his lips. Luffy never called him by his name, it was always Torao.
“Law” Luffy paused for a while and sighed, “Did you think that I wasn’t serious that time? Did you think that I didn’t mean it?”
He feels confused. ‘What the heck is he talking about? Did I miss something?'
“Mean what?” He asked softly to get answers so that he could ease his confusion.
Luffy took a step closer again and put his hand on Law’s cheeks and gently caressed it. He let out a small laugh and smiled at Law.
‘Ok, what the fuck is going on.' Law thought to himself. This is getting weird and since Luffy is still gently caressing his cheeks, he feels warm and soft all over again.
“Strawhat-ya” He mumbled, “What are you ta--”
“I meant it, you know.”
“Meant what?”
“When I said that I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Oh. OH
Law froze and memories rushed back to his mind. He remembered when the rubbery captain said that to him. It was when he volunteered to have the night watch. He was just laying down, looking at the moon when suddenly felt someone approaching. That someone sat down next to him and he looked at his side and saw that it was just Luffy. The both of them were talking when suddenly Luffy held his hands, looked straight into his eyes and said those words.
During that time, he seriously thought that Luffy was only joining. Saying that he wants to spend the rest of his life with him out of nowhere was ridiculous so he just brushed it off and started a new topic for their conversation.
“Torao” Luffy frowned, “You’re getting distracted again.” He sighed and removed his hand from Law’s cheeks.
Suddenly he missed having that warm hand on his cheeks. Law shook his head slightly in order to not get distracted while Luffy was still waiting for him to say something.
“Strawhat-ya” Law started, “You can’t be serious.”
“I am very much serious.”
“No, you aren’t” Law wanted to shout but he controlled the urge to do so. He doesn’t want someone to go out and check on them and see what’s happening. “Being with me means that you’re going to be tied down and you don’t want that.”
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, “You said that being a pirate means being free, right?”
“Right.”
He opened his eyes, looked at Luffy with a small smile on his face, “Then if you’re with me you won’t be free anymore. The freedom that you wanted to have will be gone.”
After saying that, Luffy slightly looked down and put his hat back on his head.
“Torao” He took a deep breath and said “I already am feeling like that when I’m with you.”
Law felt confused once again “Feeling like what?”
Luffy lifted his head and looked at Law. Law felt his breath being taken away because of the intense gaze of Luffy at him.
“I already feel free when I’m with you Torao.” He said and smiled once again. “So stop being stupid. I feel free with you and I already made up my mind! I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
