🍁🍁🍁
It wasn’t like it was love at first sight or anything.
One of the reasons being the first time Matsuno Chifuyu met the ravenette, the older was in his nerd getup as they first talked in school.
Not gonna lie, but the nerd getup actually fooled Chifuyu into thinking that the captain of the first division of Toman was a smart student.
Well, only for a few seconds though.
As soon as he took a seat opposite the older and glanced at the letter the latter was writing, he knew that the captain was anything but an ace student.
No offence, really.
Though seeing the same ‘nerd’ who came to his aid and started beating the random strangers up, just because the blonde was his ‘friend’, somehow made Chifuyu’s stomach do flips that could definitely beat the Olympics.
While the blonde delinquent was still in a trance; stuck in admiring how amazing the other had looked while beating others and looking so freely, the ravenette grinned victoriously as he said,
“He’s my friend. In our gang, if someone messes with one of us, we will fight back. So learn your lesson and don’t try to attack him ever again. Especially with weapons in tow.”
After a series of terrified ‘yes, sir!’, the beat-up people immediately scrambled away; leaving a still-amazed Chifuyu with the proud-looking Baji behind as the two stayed silent.
It was only a few moments after that when Baji decided to break the silence.
Hearing the ravenette saying his name somehow made his heart beat a tad bit faster.
Not that the blonde dwelled on the fact or anything.
He’s too amazed to notice.
“Do you like peyoung yakisoba?”
At the random question, Chifuyu finally snapped out of his trance, brain processing a little bit slower than usual.
It took a few embarrassing moments for him to conjure up with a response only for him to answer lamely;
“Y-yes.”
The stifled chuckle that Chifuyu caught the older made somehow didn’t really anger him that much.
If it was anyone else, they would’ve been unconscious and on the floor because Chifuyu would’ve punched them for ‘ridiculing’ him.
“Let’s go to my place then.” The older invited, not really waiting for the younger to agree before he walked ahead, giving the blonde no choice but to tail after.
The two of them walked in silence the whole way; neither really sure of what to say as, well, they’ve literally just met that day.
Which was why the fact that the captain calling Chifuyu ‘his friend’ touched the younger so much.
As they were nearing Chifuyu’s apartment complex, the next words that left past his lips were not really planned as he excitedly assumed aloud,
“You live here too?!”
It would’ve been embarrassing if he assumed wrong.
But he didn’t.
“Yeah. On the fifth floor.” The ravenette answered, one of his eyebrows raised in amusement at the younger’s change of attitude.
Just a few hours ago, the blonde was acting all ‘rebellious’ and ‘delinquent-like’. Even when the younger was confronting him.
Though Baji, of course, wasn’t really affected by the younger’s behaviour.
In truth, the blonde actually reminded him of one of his cats that he had named ‘Peke J’ as both of them have those cat-like eyes.
Besides, Baji adores cats.
Though looking at the current blonde, the ravenette couldn’t help but think the younger looked like an excited puppy.
“I- I live on the second floor.” Chifuyu ended up murmuring his reply, embarrassed at his a little too eager voice and, well, just in general.
Who could blame him?!
It was the first time he got to meet someone so cool!!
“What a small world we live in, huh?” The ravenette had sighed, chuckling at the end of his sentence.
All of a sudden, Chifuyu was reminded of that one main character in that one shoujo manga he had read.
Baji was literally a more perfec- awesome main character.
Cool!
Baji-san’s super cool!
The rest of the day, Chifuyu spent it at Baji’s place; his mother also dropping by and hanging out as she was happy her son was finally conversing with the neighbours.
“I only converse with those who are as cool as Baji-san.” Chifuyu had slipped when his mother’s exaggeration was getting to him.
When silence suddenly engulfed them, Chifuyu then realised he had thought aloud; flushing as he could feel Baji’s amused gaze on him while his and Baji’s mother laughed heartily.
“My! It’s my first time hearing those words from my son’s mouth! Tell me, Baji-kun! What did you do to get him to like you so much in one day?” Chifuyu’s mother questioned, curious.
Lucky enough, Baji didn’t really disclose the fact that they were in a fight.
Instead, he said something that only made Chifuyu liked him even more;
“He saw me feeding stray cats.” The ravenette grinned, sending a discreet wink towards Chifuyu’s way.
And oh how Chifuyu’s heartbeat accelerated should be illegal-
Eventually, it was getting late, and the Matsuno’s decided to stay the night.
Getting comfortable on the blankets Baji had given him, Chifuyu found himself grinning to himself.
Baji Keisuke is amazing,
And he decided that he would follow the other from then on.
🍁🍁🍁
The surrounding was slowly calming down as the losing gang retreated; Toman once again came out victorious from yet another gang fight.
Toman was formidable.
With Mikey as the captain and Draken as the vice captain of the notorious gang, Chifuyu’s sure nothing could beat Toman except the captain himself.
After the night Chifuyu was saved by the ravenette, the two of them had grown closer and, as everyone expected, Baji decided to make Chifuyu his vice captain.
Everyone went along with the ravenette’s decision with ease; quickly and easily accepting the blonde as one of theirs.
The only one who had shown slight suspicion was Mikey himself.
Though it wasn’t really that bad, as the only thing the captain had asked Baji was;
“Why him?”
Only a few words into Baji’s answer, Mikey stopped the ravenette from rambling further, patting Baji’s shoulder a few times as he grinned;
“Have fun, you two!”
Anddd that’s basically how Chifuyu managed to be Toman’s first division’s vice captain.
Chifuyu snapped out of his trance when he felt an arm around his shoulders; the blonde didn’t even need to turn to know whose arm was it.
“We killed it! You killed it!” Baji cheered, ruffling through Chifuyu’s soft blonde hair as the younger grinned wide, liking how the praise made him feel.
Being praised by Baji has always made him feel nice.
“You did way better, Baji-san!” Chifuyu chose to compliment back, head tilting a little to see Baji only for his breath to hitch at how close their faces were.
The sound of Baji’s loud laughter filled Chifuyu’s ear drums, the younger feeling himself warming up as the arm around his shoulders tightened.
When Baji had stopped laughing and started talking about other things, the only thing that Chifuyu could focus on was how loud and fast his heart was beating.
Is this normal?
Am I sick?
The two of them were walking to god knows where when someone else slipped between them; Baji groaning in annoyance as a response while Chifuyu was thankful as he didn’t know if he could remain calm anytime longer when Baji’s fingers started drawing patterns on the skin of his neck.
“Where are the two of you going now? Not even bidding the others goodbye?” Mikey asked, grinning cheekily as he spared a glance at Baji before staring into Chifuyu’s literal soul.
???
Have Chifuyu done anything wrong-?
“We’re going to that recently opened cat cafe. Stop stalling us.” Baji grumbled, clicking his tongue before he lightly pushed the short captain away before literally pulling Chifuyu into his arms.
It was almost like an embrace-
Before the duo could take a step any further, Mikey quipped,
“Like a date?”
…
A pause.
Date?
Isn’t dating supposed to be between a girl and a boy only?
Chifuyu blinked owlishly at Mikey while the other just stared back, expression unreadable as the shorter blonde glanced at Baji only to return his gaze back to Chifuyu.
“A friendly hangout , dumbass.” Baji ended up answering for both of them.
Mikey only hummed at the answer, stared some more before he shrugged and walked away, probably on his way to find new people to annoy.
For the rest of the day, Chifuyu can’t help but dwell on the silent pause after Mikey’s question was voiced out.
Why was there even a pause there? It’s obvious it’s just a friendly hangout, right?
…
Unless…?
For the next few weeks, Chifuyu tried his best to not tell the ravenette that the real reason he had looked tired was because of the thought messing with his head at night.
“Nightmares?” Baji had asked, the worry in his eyes was as clear as day.
The two of them were having their break at the rooftop at the time; Chifuyu reading a shoujo manga while Baji munching on the bread he had bought prior.
Pursing his lips, Chifuyu nodded,
“Something like that, I guess?”
Baji hummed thoughtfully at the response, eyes observing Chifuyu’s body language before the ravenette slumped against Chifuyu’s side.
The next words that slipped past Baji’s lips almost made Chifuyu’s heart jump out of his rib cage.
“Wanna sleep with me?”
Chifuyu’s only 16, and he knew what Baji actually meant.
Though the fact that his brains instantly went to that interpretation somehow spoke to the blonde about something he didn’t even know he unconsciously thought of about the older.
Why did he even think of it in that way??
He’s literally only 16??
“Cuz it might help you with your nightmares, or something.” Baji had rushed to explain when Chifuyu had gone silent for far too long, noting the red tinting the younger’s cheeks.
Cute.
…
Wait what-?
“Oh. Yeah. Uhh we can… try that? But it’s not that uhh critical. My uhh… nightmares. So it’s not… necessary… and all…” Chifuyu tried getting out of the situation, thinking if he’s in his current situation, he definitely wouldn’t survive the night.
Though, as expected, Baji Keisuke was no coward and he’s known for being selfless and, well, for being too helpful.
So instead of taking the chance to also take back his words, he insisted.
“Tonight. We can try it tonight. Tomorrow’s a holiday anyway.” The ravenette had said, eyes determined and-
Chifuyu didn’t really have a choice now, did he?
Thus, as soon as school ended, the two made their way back to their apartment complex.
Baji went back to his place to pack some things for a few minutes before he was back by Chifuyu’s side, looking proud of himself.
Proud for managing to actually pull through this stunt, obviously.
The night went by like usual; the two of them preparing dinner together for Chifuyu’s mother, then going to play video games while waiting for Chifuyu’s mother to arrive, talk about the most random things like Chifuyu’s favourite shoujo manga and etcetera.
Not gonna lie though; the part when they prepare dinner together had always felt too domestic for Chifuyu.
He’s not the only one who thought like that.
Not like the two of them would do anything about it though.
Eventually, Chifuyu’s mother arrived- even though a little bit late as dinner was already cold by the time she arrived.
The three of them chatted as they had their dinner; basically talking about their day.
“What did you two do today?”
“Study.”
“Baji-san was sleeping in class today. His friend told me.”
“Wha- well, I heard a certain someone tripped on air cuz he almost fell asleep while walking!”
For a few minutes, the two of them spent the time defending their pride.
Sort of.
By the time they’ve realised Chifuyu’s mother had gone quiet, the two instantly shut up, turning to the older lady who had a small serene smile on her lips.
For a few minutes after that, Chifuyu and Baji could only exchange glances as the older lady stared.
…
“Matsuno-san! Did you know Chifuyu hasn’t gotten a good night sleep these past few weeks? He said he keeps on getting nightmares!” Baji decided to break the silence and open up the subject Chifuyu dreaded talking about the most.
Crap-
“Oh? Chifuyu told you? Has he figured it out?” The older lady said, surprise lacing her voice as she glanced at her son.
Right.
Uhhh.
The first few days he couldn’t sleep because of Mikey’s words, he had confided in his mother; saying why the idea of him and Baji going on a date somehow ‘disturbed’ him very much.
He wouldn’t say it’s him being homophobic; there’s tons of shoujo mangas with their side characters being couples of the same gender.
In fact, there were some with the main couple being of the same gender.
So him being homophobic was obviously not a possible reason for this restless feeling inside of him.
“Have you tried thinking about it in a different way?” His mother had asked after she was given some time to sort out her thoughts.
Chifuyu tilted his head a little at his mother’s question.
“By that, you mean…?”
After receiving a long stare from his mother that had him squirming, Chifuyu’s mother finally said;
“What do you feel about you and Baji-kun dating?”
That’s basically how the conversation went.
The blonde’s pretty sure he knew by heart the answer to the question, as reading tons of shoujo mangas somehow helped him figured stuff like these out.
Though he still chose to not entertain the answer.
It couldn’t be.
There has to be other reasons.
Because if it was the only answer…
…then Chifuyu might have some problems from then on.
“We decided that I’ll accompany him to bed to help him with the nightmares.” Baji had declared, blinking at Chifuyu in confusion when the younger choke on air while Chifuyu’s mother blinked in surprise.
…
Please don’t say anything else-
“May that work. I am worried about my son that’s slowly looking a lot like a panda these days. You could definitely answer his questions and protect him from those nightmares of his.” Chifuyu’s mother ended up saying as a response, eyes on Chifuyu as the blonde flushed and squirmed in his seat.
“I trust you with him, Baji-kun.” Chifuyu’s mother unnecessarily added, smiling oh-so-softly and somehow it felt like-
“This feels like you’re approving me of being Chifuyu’s boyfriend.” Baji had completed Chifuyu’s sentence, laughing as he stood up and winked at Chifuyu, unbeknownst to how much that wink affected the younger.
“I’ll be a great boyfriend for him, ma’am!” Baji joked, still laughing as he went to Chifuyu’s room, saying he wanted to set up the futon.
With that, only the Matsuno’s were left.
…
“Ah… my son… looking so flustered and huggable~” Chifuyu’s mother sing-song, laughing when Chifuyu only grew warmer, grumbling under his breath.
“ That was embarrassing, Mom.” Chifuyu mumbled, recalling Baji’s wink and shutting down for a few seconds at the memory.
Ah…
Since when did he start harbouring feelings for-?
Chifuyu snapped out of his trance when hands reached out for his; the blonde making eye contact with his mother as he instantly calmed down- physically and mentally.
“I’m with you whenever, okay?” His mother comforted him out of nowhere, squeezing the blonde’s hands before caressing one of his cheeks.
The only response Chifuyu could come up with without letting out a sob was a mere nod and a hum.
After that, Chifuyu was finally about to join Baji in his bedroom when Chifuyu’s mother stopped him.
“Almost forgot!
If I’m not mistaken, I haven’t finished washing-”
“Why are there no futon in the cupboard? Did you move them somewhere else?” came Baji’s voice before the older woman could finish her sentence.
Easily connecting the dots, Chifuyu paled.
“We haven’t washed the futon?!” Chifuyu asked, shocked and, well, betrayed.
He swore he just washed the futon yesterday-
“Blame it on your cat, sweetie. Peke J’s the one who spilled water all over the futon. Perhaps he’s actually a Cupid?” Chifuyu’s mother shrugged, whispering her last sentence and sending a playful wink at a clueless Baji.
“MOM! Not the time!” Chifuyu groaned, the skin between his eyebrows creasing as he wrecked his brain for any type of solutions-
“Peke J did that? The devil!” Baji scowled, eyes immediately searching for a certain black cat, yet not finding anything.
Chifuyu was internally panicking when he felt Baji’s hand on his shoulder, the shorter flinching a little at the gesture before he was pulled into Baji’s side,
“We can just share the bed!” Baji said it oh-so-casually.
Chifuyu wondered how he’s not overheating yet-
“Wonderful idea, Baji-kun! Isn’t it, Chifuyu?” Chifuyu’s mother clasped her hands, smiling at her son who was panicking at a rate of miles per second.
This is not good for his heart-
“But- my bed is too small for the two of us-”
Chifuyu’s slightly trembling sentence was cut off by his mother’s phone ringing; the older lady placing quick forehead kisses on the boys before excusing herself.
“Good night, boys.” She wished shortly before disappearing into her room, leaving the two teens in the living room.
…
“Welp. Let’s get to bed now. I’m super sleepy right now.” Baji had mumbled, yawing a little as he made a beeline to Chifuyu’s bedroom.
Chifuyu could only tailed after the ravenette with no choice.
Once inside the bedroom, it finally dawned on Baji how small the bed actually was.
…
“I can sleep on the couch-”
“Let’s just sleep. I’m used to sharing bed with tons of stray cats anyway.” Baji had cut the younger of, getting comfortable on the bed with ease against the wall, raising an eyebrow when Chifuyu only stared.
“You good?” The ravenette asked nonchalantly, the ends of his lips turning downwards a little when the younger only stared, not making any movements.
Eventually, feeling tired and sleepy, Baji himself pulled the younger onto the bed; the younger letting out a small yelp as he landed on the mattress.
…
Huh.
Baji might have overestimated the mattress.
Maybe it was because he’s too sleepy- or maybe it was because of something else (?) -but it was easy for the ravenette to pull the younger closer, not really feeling embarrassed nor flustered as their legs tangled with each other and Chifuyu’s face buried in his neck.
It might be just because he’s sleepy, but it actually felt nice.
Chifuyu’s hear was beating erratically as the older casually wrapped his arms around the blonde’s waist, pulling the younger closer and closer and so close that Chifuyu could literally feel the older’s heartbeat-
Chifuyu hoped, hoped, Baji didn’t notice how fast his heart was beating-
“It’s okay, Fuyu. I’m here. Wake me up if your nightmare comes up.” Baji had murmured right beside the blonde’s ear; said younger’s body shivering as he nodded hesitantly.
…
Just like that, Baji fell into a deep slumber.
…
“Oi. Stop feeling so nervous. Your heart is beating, like, crazy.” Baji suddenly sighed after a few minutes of silence, unconsciously- or consciously? Chifuyu didn’t know anymore -squeezing Chifuyu’s sides and pulling the younger impossibly closer.
Chifuyu might just die due to heart attack-
“Sleep.” The ravenette mumbled, falling back asleep.
For the next few minutes, Chifuyu spent the time dwelling in his thoughts.
…
Judging from how his body and mind were reacting to Baji, it was crystal clear just why the idea of him and Baji intrigued him so much.
…
“I like Baji-san.” Chifuyu mumbled, only realising the possibility of the ravenette overhearing him after it had happened.
Luckily, Baji’s calm heartbeat managed to convince Chifuyu that the older didn’t hear him.
Letting out a sigh, Chifuyu felt himself heating up when the arms around his waist tightened; failing to calm his heart.
Eventually, he ended up falling asleep, finally getting himself a peaceful night and a dream of him and his, well, crush.
…
Chifuyu’s doomed, wasn’t he-?
🍁🍁🍁
19.
Chifuyu’s 19 now.
“Oi! Chifuyu!”
It was a wonder how Chifuyu managed to hear Baji’s voice over the bustling crowd.
Well, not really a wonder.
Chifuyu had managed to recognise Baji’s voice even better ever since three years ago after he finally accepted his feelings for the older.
Not that he would do anything about them or anything.
Baji deserved someone wayyy better than him.
“Baji-san!” Chifuyu had answered, a hand reaching out and managing to meet Baji’s larger one, couldn’t help but flush a little at the contact.
If it wasn’t for Baji’s strong grip on his hand, Chifuyu would’ve been swept away by the crowd.
“Why is the festival so freaking crowded today?” Baji grumbled, going as far as intertwining their fingers together as he pulled the blonde closer, wondering why he found the sight of Chifuyu’s red tinted cheeks adorable.
That’s normal between friends, right?
There’s definitely time when you thought your best friend is cute, right?
Baji obviously didn’t think the younger looked adorable all the time.
Like, obviously.
…
“Baji-san?”
Chifuyu’s slightly worried voice snapped Baji out of his thoughts; the ravenette blinking a few times before he led the younger to a much more secluded area, away from the crowds.
Before they knew it, they ended up at a small wooden bridge; Chifuyu instantly beaming as he said it’s a nice spot for them to watch fireworks.
Huh.
This somehow didn’t really feel like a friendly hangout.
Felt like something else.
“Have you ever dated anyone, Baji-san?”
Chifuyu’s sudden question snapped the ravenette out of his thoughts once again, making the taller of the two blinked in confusion for a few times before he answered.
“No.”
Baji raised an eyebrow when Chifuyu looked surprised.
“Why so surprised?” Baji asked, tilting his head a little when Chifuyu averted his gaze, playing with his fingers as he murmured,
“Well… I’m pretty sure you received confessions monthly. Weekly even.”
Baji raised an eyebrow.
“And?”
Chifuyu contemplated if it’s fine for him to ask so many questions about the older’s love life.
It made the blonde happy that the older has never dated anyone.
Though that didn’t really mean that Chifuyu would be his first, no?
“Well… don’t any of them fit your… uh… type?” Chifuyu asked, scratching the back of his head as he avoided eye contact with Baji, squirming under the older’s calculating gaze.
…
“Nah. None of them.” Baji answered, short.
Chifuyu visibly perked up at the answer.
“So you have a type, Baji-san?” Chifuyu asked, failing to hide his eagerness and flushing when the older looked amused.
Baji pursed his lips at the thought.
“Yeah. Kinda. Sorta.”
Baji stifled a laughter when Chifuyu looked adorably confused.
“Which one?”
“All three of them.”
The laughter that bubbled up from the ravenette easily and instantly made Chifuyu’s heart stutter.
“I guess I just want one thing.” Baji chose to disclose a few things about his type, slightly pitying the younger who has a small pout on his lips.
Grinning, Baji rested his elbow on the railing side of the bridge, resting his chin on his palm as he silently saved the sight of Chifuyu’s flustered expression in the back of his head,
“I just want someone who could stay with me from day one until our last breath. Someone loyal. Someone… someone who completes and complements me, I guess.”
…
“That’s too vague, Baji-san!” Chifuyu scowled, squinting his eyes at the older who only shrugged before bursting into a fit of laughter, the scowling blonde joining a few moments after.
Eventually, the only one’s still laughing was Chifuyu; the younger finding it hard to stop himself from laughing while the older found it hard to stop staring.
…
Huh.
Before any other words could be exchanged, the loud noise of a firework filled their eardrums; Chifuyu smiling wide and admiring the myriad of colours that were decorating the sky.
Baji, on the other hand, ended up admiring the guy who’s admiring the colourful sky.
For a split second there, Baji was reminded of that one night that, to him, was odd and, well, maybe a little surreal.
“I like Baji-san.”
He didn’t know if he heard it right, but at that time, he thought, obviously,
I like you too.
Thinking back, it made him realise if there’s another meaning or implication behind those words.
Though it’s in the past. What’s in the past, stayed in the past.
It would’ve been obvious that he had been thinking about the incident if he brought it up anyway.
By the end of that night, they parted ways like they usually would.
Which ended up being one of the reasons why Baji’s so frustrated the very next day.
“Why did it feel like I forgot something?” Baji mumbled, nibbling on his straw as he had finished drinking the juice grumpily.
“Forgot what?”
At the sound of the other’s voice, it only frustrated Baji more.
“Nothing much I guess.”
Forgot that I’m probably supposed to do something extra yesterday?!
Cuz it was obvious yesterday was anything but a friendly hangout!
“Liar! You know you’ve always been a bad liar!” Chifuyu snickered, hiccuping a little before he giggled and took another sip of his beer.
Oh.
Right.
Chifuyu’s the one who brought him here since the younger took notice of the older’s foul mood, thinking a drink would help the ravenette rant and relive some stress that was building up.
In the end, it was Chifuyu who ended up getting drunk while Baji was the one who stayed sober.
Not that Baji cared or anything.
Drunk Chifuyu was something that’s very amusing to watch.
And a little endearing-
“Well, I’m pretty sure I managed to fool everyone during that Valhalla incident, no?” Baji grinned, recalling back the time when he almost got stabbed by Kazutora.
If it wasn’t for Takemichi moving fast, who knows what would’ve happened to the ravenette?
The grin on Baji’s lips fell a little when he noticed Chifuyu’s eyes that were getting teary; couldn’t even say anything when the younger suddenly climbed onto his laps and straddled him, sniffling all the while,
“Don’t ever do that again!” Chifuyu had half-scolded half-cried, wrapping his arms around Baji’s neck and basically burying his face in Baji’s neck like a koala hugging its tree.
Chifuyu started rambling about something else, but Baji was too distracted by his erratic heartbeat and the frequent brush of Chifuyu’s lips on his neck as the younger spoke.
Why why why-
Why is my heart beating so fast-?
In the middle of him panicking, everything came into a halt when he felt a brief press of lips against his cheek; both of his cheeks instantly clamming at the gesture and heating up even more at Chifuyu’s next words:
“I really do, love you, Baji-san.”
After the sudden confession, Chifuyu instantly fell asleep.
…
The sheer audacity-
For what felt like hours, all Baji could do was breathing.
And it was not even breathing properly.
It felt like he had been running miles.
His heart was hammering in his chest, his temperature spiked up and blood was rushing to his cheeks like there’s no tomorrow.
All that happened with Chifuyu still in his lap, the younger’s soft snores filling Baji’s ears and the occasional brush of soft lips against his neck.
…
Trying to calm himself, Baji tried piecing his new feelings and information together.
..
….
……
Oh-
“We’re closing up, man. Get going with your boyfriend.” One of the workers at the bar interrupted Baji’s internal ‘calculation’; Baji responded with an unsure nod as his brain short-circuited.
With ease, the ravenette carried the blonde on his back, paying for their drinks and started walking by memory only without really thinking where they were going.
…
Huh.
Now what?
The clueless ravenette was surprised when they reached their apartment complex after what felt like a few minutes despite the bar being 10 minutes away.
Well, being too deep in your thoughts did that, probably?
By the time Baji reached Chifuyu’s apartment, the ravenette pondered on how he should wake Chifuyu up.
Though he didn’t have to ponder for far too long as after a few moments, Chifuyu slowly roused awake; a small, soft whine left past the blonde’s lips that was doing things to Baji.
…damn.
“I like Chifuyu.”
…
Hold up-
“You like who-? Wahhh! Baji-san put me down- did you carry me all the way here?!”
Chifuyu’s sleepy-turned-to-surprised voice made Baji jumped a little; the ravenette carefully putting the younger down as he shrugged,
“Yeah. I guess?”
Lame response, Baji Keisuke.
Chifuyu looked embarrassed as he lowered his gaze, cheeks flushing as he started rambling ‘sorry’s and other things like-
“Iactuallydreamtofkissingyouonthecheekjustnowohgodwhatintheworld-”
“It was not a dream.”
…
Oh-
Oh my god-
“It- I- not a drea- what in the world, could you possibly mean, Baji-san?” Chifuyu stammered, heat rising to his cheeks as he turned scarlet.
Crap-
Baji did not plan to tell Chifuyu about the whole ordeal-
Head empty with only Chifuyu and his soft soft lips on his skin, Baji’s body ended up doing something that he didn’t really regret though didn’t really allow.
Baji kissed Chifuyu.
And it was not a peck, mind you.
The ravenette straight up opened the door and locked it before pushing the surprised and flustered blonde against the door and kissing the life out of the shorter, heart hammering faster and faster as moments passed by and-
“Baji-san-!”
Perhaps it was because this was his first time kissing someone but-
-but god did he feel alive-
Baji didn’t know how long did they make out, but one thing for sure;
He loved loved loved making Chifuyu breathless.
He didn’t forget to thank the gods above or whatever for making Chifuyu’s mother late to dinner, of course.
By the time they parted ways, Baji was still pinning the younger against the door, amused as he noticed how worked up the younger was just because they made out.
The two only stayed silent for a few minutes; Baji appreciating the dazed look on Chifuyu’s face while Chifuyu trying to understand what the hell was going on.
It was then when he was reminded of the times he was left with the odd feeling whenever he’s around Chifuyu.
That persistent feeling of wanting to stay close to the younger.
That persistent feeling of wanting the best for the younger.
That persistent feeling of wanting to protect the younger despite the blonde being capable of protecting himself.
That persistent feeling he got when he saw Baji talking with people he didn’t know and he just had the urge to just pull Chifuyu close and away from said people.
Those feelings were really just his feelings for the younger.
“I like you.” Baji ended up saying, overwhelmed by the epiphany that hit him and the emotions swirling in his heart and head, eyes watching Chifuyu’s every reaction and cherishing them as much as he could.
Chifuyu looked at Baji like the ravenette had grown two heads.
“I- there’s no way you like me of all people, Baji-san! You deserve someone wayyy better!” Chifuyu insisted, breath hitching when Baji clicked his tongue and leaned closer, making both of them realise how they’re both excited for each other.
“But my body is saying otherwise.” Baji deadpanned, eyes set on the younger as he pressed closer to Chifuyu as if to prove his point.
And, well, he managed to get the point across, of course.
Still looking unsure, Chifuyu only nibbled on his already red bottom lip, the action catching Baji’s eyes instantly.
Before the blonde could say anything else, both of them were suddenly interrupted by two knocks on the door, followed by a familiar ‘I’m home!’.
Uhhh-
“You go to your room first; mine’s not that obvious since I’m wearing baggy sweatpants.” Baji hushed, placing a short kiss on Chifuyu’s forehead before rushing the younger away.
Once he’s sure Chifuyu’s in the bedroom, he opened the door only to be greeted by a knowing look;
“Took both of you long enough.”

Dating.
They’re finally dating.
Nice.
“Fuyu… stop moving around so much…”
“But it’s already afternoon! We have to get up! Besides, aren’t you hot in this very much too cramped bed for a 20 year old and 19 year old?”
“Not really. I like you here in my arms and so close.”
…
“You’re insufferable-”
“And you love it!”
…
“You’re lucky you’re right.”
…
“Why me though?”
Baji tilted his head at the question.
“What about you?”
“Haven’t you met others… others that were better than me?” Chifuyu murmured, embarrassed as he had to admit something that he had silently been insecure about.
The blonde yelped when the arms around him wrapped tighter and pulled him impossibly closer; heart beating faster as Baji answered,
“Didn’t I tell you my type? Someone who would stay with me from day one until forever?
Who else fits that criteria but you?”
Chifuyu flushed when the ravenett’s tone of voice sounded a lot more soft; the blonde blinking a few times as he furrowed his eyebrows.
“So you’ve known that you liked me ever since the festival?”
Chifuyu wondered why it took Baji so long to come up with a reply.
“Nah. Not really. I literally just noticed my feelings when you kissed my cheek.”
…
“Though I have to admit…
When you asked me who my type was, you somehow came up in my head.
I’ve met a lot of people, but nobody feels like you , ya know?
So be honoured.” Baji admitted, mumbling and flushing a little when Chifuyu all but cooed.
…
“Love you.”
“Love you too.”
