Chapter Text
A cool breeze entered the long hall, as it’s huge marble doors swung open. On the walls hung intricate painting of men from the past, ancient rulers of the kingdom. Pillars came down from either side of the room, small pictures carved into each, seemingly depicting stories of the past.
Two men walked in, one shorter in stature. He had messy black hair, and his eyes were a dark brown. He held his head high, and walked with purpose, he did not look like the type of person you would want to mess with.
The taller of the two looked nervous, his blonde hair had been neatly pulled back into a small pony tail, and his pale eyes darted across the room, before finally landing on the throne in front of him.
Sitting on the throne, was the ruler of their land, he was tall, and bulky. He had a long beard, the color of salt and pepper, matching his long wavy hair.
As the two men reached the end of the hall, they stopped and bowed to their ruler, eyes glued to the grounds, bodies rigid.
“You may stand” said their king.
“Thank you Lord Zeus” said the boys in unison.
“I assume you know why I’ve called you hear? I told the messenger to explain to you the situation and severity.” Lord Zeus asked, his hand thrumming a beat against the arm of his throne.
The boy with dark hair answered,” Yes my lord, we have been told of the issue up North, a dragon residing in the rigid icy mountains. They have apparently been terrorizing towns at the base of the mountain, pillaging their lands.”
“Yes Sir Nicoli, and as you know, I have called you to deal with this issue?”
“Yes sir.” Nicoli replied.
As this conversation went on, the blonde haired boy, only sat and watched, he seemed in awe of the man next to him.
“Sir William?” Lord Zeus asked.
“Ah-Yes my lord?”The blonde replied, startle by the boom of his Rulers voice across the echoing hall.
“Have you ever met Sir Nicoli?”
“N-no, but I’ve heard stories of him, he is one of the only people to have ever fought a dragon and lived to tell the tale!” William replied.
William knew a lot about Nicoli actually, he was looked up to by most the knights in the area. He was seen as almost a celebrity in the public, though it was quite obvious Nicoli did not feel he deserved such popularity.
For why should he have it? Nicoli never understood how him fighting a dragon would earn him fame, he didn’t even kill it.
When the messenger arrived at his door with this quest, he swore he would not fail like the time before.
“You two will spend the night here in the castle, when morrow comes, you will take the supplies I have provided you, and start you’re way on this quest, it is imperative you get to that dragon as quickly as possible.” The king said, urgency flashing is his cold eyes.
Both the boys agreed to the conditions. William had tried to talk to Nicoli, but all Nicoli had to say was,
“We must rest, we have a long journey ahead” as he pushed past him.
They walked their separate ways, as they were guided to their chambers for the night.
