Guilt.
Oh how it's such an awful feeling. Yet for Jack Harkness it was even worse. Could it be due to living for over 200 years...or having lost the love of his life in his arms.
Having loved someone who He knew wasn't going to last forever with him. Both knowing this would be painful yet still fell in love. Both being so passionate to each other.
Well, Jack's guilt got so much he practically ran away from Earth. It wasn't home, not anymore, not without Ianto. It wasn't the best idea but it was better than dealing with the guilt and grief right?
Jack eventually returned to Earth though. He found Ianto's home and well took some if not most of Ianto's shirts and ties. He held them close as he sobbed into them.
Poor Harkness. Jack Harkness was the man who loved and lost who he loved. Jack Harkness is an immortal man who's lived for years now. Jack Harkness is the man living a curse...a curse which he wants broken.
And his wish came true. Miracle Day. Jack had the opportunity, he can do it, he can be with Ianto again...but alas he is stopped. He can't do it.
Ianto. He's staying for Gwen and her family. Staying to protect the Earth. Staying for Tosh and Owen. Staying for Ianto. Oh Ianto Jones...he craved to seem him again.
But guilt stopped Jack. The guilt of leaving Gwen behind to deal with another loss. The guilt of failing to protect the Earth. The guilt of failing Ianto.
Jack was now lying on the bathroom floor, curled in on himself. He's sobbing, sobbing because the guilt was too much.
